Worth the investment for its stellar story. Bear in mind that the combat and the camera issues are still present.

For those who missed out on Sleeping Dogs two years ago, the title is correct: this is the definitive version. Unfortunately, those who already visited the compressed streets of Hong Kong will have almost no incentive to go back.

For better or worse, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is not that much different from your standard issue Game of the Year Edition. That is to say, you'll be treated one of the best open world crime adventures in recent years, and the game still looks great, if not dramatically different on its new hardware.

Packed with content, all of the DLCs that have come out since the original game and upgraded graphics, this GTA clone will keep you happy till the "real deal" (GTAV) comes to the next-gen.

The only mode to feel completely finished is Nightmare in North Point, which pits the player against an army of hopping vampires and a few resurrected faces from the main storyline.
  6. I have a hard time understanding why Sleeping Dogs needed to be ported to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in what Square Enix is calling the game’s “Definitive Edition”...It collects all of the game’s considerable post-release content – including a trio of story-driven add-ons – in one convenient place, which is laudable. But core game hasn’t changed much. And it wasn’t perfect to begin with...The expression “warts and all” to leap to mind.

Still a very good game, but it's on the more pointless end of the rerelease spectrum, and they really should have fixed those bugs.

Not too many side quests to distract from the main story. The game needs a prequel to show why Wei Shen left HK in the first place. Needs the RDR2 trratment Expand

THE GREATEST GAME EVER! EVEN BETTER THAN GTA V AND SUITABLE FOR YOUNGER PEOPLE DESPITE ITS VIOLENCE!

I purchased this game 3 years ago, and I loved it. I finished the game 2 times, and I have enjoyed every single moment of it. The parkour is slick, the combat system is the greatest ever, the story is so suspenseful, the cast did good at acting, the soundtrack is so intense, the visuals looked good at that time, and the climax is so thrilling, like an Indian action film's climax sequence. Overall, this is one of the best games ever made and I'd rate this an 8.6/10.

It did not disappoint. It feels like a middle ground between GTA and Saints Row. Has the realism, grit, and attention to detail like GTA, but at the same time it plays in a very arcade style.
The plot has the whole "caught between the life of a cop and criminal" thing done well; side characters forgettable though. Some of the gameplay elements are pretty ridiculous, but undoubtedly fun (hilarious car chases). Combat is pretty good. Packed with content, collectables, races, clothes, vehicles, and side missions (that are also fun). The settings is brilliantly realised. One major issue for me; is that the map is sectioned into five distinct districts separated by motorways, but none of them are bigger enough or unique enough to warrant. Its as though the map was stretched to make it appear bigger; just no need, would of seemed denser and more realistic without the separation. Also, there are a few minor bugs and annoyances.
Overall, it has everything you want from an open-world, crime action game.

I was actually interested in the story and found the upgrade system rewarding. Gun battles are pretty generic but the fighting system was a lot of fun. I thought the story kind of feel short at the end and the DLC was terrible but I am still happy that I played the game. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun open world experience. Expand

It plays like a cross between GTA and Shenmue. You play as Wei Shen, an undercover cop that is assigned to the Triad gangs in Hong Kong. You'll visit dojos, partake in small crimes, go on dates, bust up criminals and shop for clothes. Graphically, the game has only been slightly improved. There is an increased resolution, a better draw distance, added fog/lightning effects and more NPCs on screen. Unfortunately, the gameplay (while fun) is a bit clunky. Driving, running and fighting all lack fluidity. Despite its dated feel, Sleeping Dogs is a must-have for GTA fans. If you like martial-art themed cop movies, you'll have a blast. I would rate this with an 8 out of 10. Expand
