A pure joy to play.

If I wasn't afraid of the weight of the statement, I would definitely call this the greatest game ever made. Instead, I'll just say it's quite possibly and probably the greatest.

Really, almost anything you can do in real life can be done in Fable.

The improvements to the graphics, the larger mission scope, and solid implementation of new vehicles all help to create a complete experience.

That’s a ton of content, and yes, that content is a lot of fun since the simple platform-centric gameplay still holds up extremely well.

Matches the scope of the "GTA" games but still manages to look incredible. Jak II is heavily detailed, highly stylized, and holds a lot of personality.

Okami achieves what so many games strive for but most fail to deliver upon by providing an experience that feels lovingly crafted in each of its elements without sacrificing length or originality.

At times MP is more movie than game, with stunning camera angles, jarring replays and an involved plot that not only moves the storyline along, it sets the tone for a hardcore action experience.

I felt a fantastic feeling of adventure that I hadn’t experienced since the first EverQuest. It was all propelled by the sense of interaction and community that only a MMORPG can offer up.

With the exception of "Ico," this is the most fun I’ve had playing a PS2 game ever.

Call of Duty can be described in one word: intense. There are no complicated mission objectives, no key-fetching to open doors (in fact, there aren’t even any doors to open), no squad-command signals - none of that. It’s all about edge-of-your-seat action, and it’s executed remarkably well.

Without a doubt, even with a few minor problems, this is one of my favorite titles of this year.

If these are the types of games we can expect to see coming to the PSP, Nintendo is going to see their market dwindle away.

The new mech designs with new weapons also give a strong presence but it's the addition of the battle armor and VTOL that makes the biggest impact.

A great racing game that is a ton of fun. You can link up 4 GBA's and race against your buddies providing a great multiplayer experience.

It has an innovative style, quality design and some elements that have never before been seen in gaming, like the alignment system. It's easily one of the most entertaining games I've played in a long time.

The fighting engine is awesome. The graphics are awesome. The characters' moves are awesome. This game just plain kicks ass.

While those looking for a revolutionary new game may not be entirely satisfied, any serious gamer who can even imagine enjoying this game probably will.

A superb football game. The graphics and level of realism are just unbelievable, although the Xbox version is a hair better and framerates seem a tad smoother.

One word of caution though; this game will suck away hours of your life.

The graphics and level of realism are just unbelievable. Although there isn't a world of difference between the Xbox and PS2 version, the graphics are a bit better on the box game and it does support progressive scan.

It is as addicting as ever and has taken all of the great aspects of the original and expanded on them. You will be playing this game for days, weeks, and months before you will even come close to finishing.

The game blends the best aspects of puzzle games with a twist of action and adventure, leaving gamers with a constant desire to play and control.

One of the best massively multiplayer online games I've played to date. Maybe it's the new topic, maybe it's the oodles of women in tights, but I love this city even at $15 a month.

Although it stretches the Starfox license, once the game begins, you'll hardly notice and the game's length will keep you busy for some time.

It’s nice to see the occasional role-playing game that isn’t formulaic, something that shows the developer took some time to create a plot worth living in a game worth playing. Dragon Quarter does that so surprisingly well and in so many different ways, it almost transcends the RPG genre.

I haven't enjoyed a naval simulator this much since "Silent Hunter II." A great title!

Despite the lack of competition in this genre, MCII is a must have game with superb graphics, fun single player action, and multiplayer modes that will keep you gripping your controller for months to come.

What started out as a linear platformer with strong stealth action aspects has transformed into a sprawling platformer that still has the stealth aspects, but so much more.

This game is a definite winner and will make your blood pressure soar in excitement if you're a gamer who enjoys fighting. The realistic fighting, great graphics and entertaining story line deliver value for its price.

The real stars of the game are the Nazi soldiers. Their reactions and behavior are unparalleled in any other PSX game. Actually, the enemy AI rivals PC games and even exceeds them in some places.

With excellent graphics, strong gameplay, and top-notch design, this is definitely one of my favorites of 2001.

The unique movement issues seem to add to the game, instead of detract from it, forcing you to learn a new set of mechanics instead of relying on the same old run and jump techniques that most platformers seem to rely on.

It blends meticulous fragging action with invigoratingly new brawling elements that, in the end, makes for a completely enthralling experience.

Solidifies its place as one of the best multiplayer experiences available.

Simply the best tactical shooter on the market. The high level of detail and the wealth of options offer a great amount of replay potential.

The entire gaming experience, other than a few minor grammatical issues in conversations with NPCs and the necessary huge patch downloads, was as close to flawless as I’ve seen.

The worlds are visually wonderful and detailed. While the game is somewhat linear and task oriented, the worlds have an openness about them so that you don’t feel trapped like you do in many games.

Despite the occasional glitch and lack of online play, Def Jam: Fight for New York is an excellent fighter that manages to revive a dying genre without needing to recreate it.

An intriguing game to behold, making it almost as fun to watch and listen to as it is to play. But what makes this game an essential to any true gamers’ library is that it’s cool to its cel-shaded 2D/3D roots.

Fortunately, the game is still built on the very strong mechanics of the original THUG, so Bam's absurdity only leaks into the plot, which is a good thing, and not into gameplay, which would be an exceptionally bad thing.

With larger levels, RPG elements, and all around improved gameplay there will be few platform games that will perform at this level.

This game can be a complete frustration, requiring careful, specific, and tactical gameplay. However, it is more than worth the effort to learn. If you are willing to slug through that, you’ll find an excellent title that will likely end up being one of the year’s best.

The cinematic animations are outstanding, dramatic and funny. Even the voice-over acting is really good.

The look and style of both games remain the same, but the visuals look much cleaner. Framerates are much steadier this time around and textures look a lot sharper.

The expansion is so packed with new features, creatures, classes and items that you could mistake it for a new game.

Challenging, fast-paced, and most importantly, fun. I’ve already spent way too much time playing this game, and most RTS fans will be spending just as much time with this title as I have. Highly recommended to gamers of all stripes.

It’s all been done expertly, with huge, sprawling worlds that offer up a bevy of unique and engaging missions.

A solid platform game through and through. Simply put, Ape Escape 2 is worth going bananas over.

The stunning 3D worlds will knock your socks off, and the mix of aircraft will keep you coming back for more. Sky Odyssey is remarkable -- every PlayStation 2 owner should rush out to grab this one. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

After the first fight you will see how much time was spent on the details of making the characters look and react as realistic as possible.

Whether you’re an action or strategy enthusiast, there’s something for you in Savage. And really, with a few tweaks here and there, Savage could easily become the next big thing in online gaming.

This is a simulator in the truest sense. As I've mentioned innumerable times, this game is detailed and realistic. It does allow you to create races that are suited to your ability. Simply put, the better you get, the harder you make the racing.

The simplicity of the controller functions, along with a decent soundtrack, combine to make a great game for a low price.

A solid sequel and although not as innovative as the original, it still draws you in with a well developed story and balanced gameplay.

I particularly liked the consistent film noir theme (especially a bit of homage paid to "Casablanca" in Year Two).

With a simple interface, very very light narrative, and some of the best boss fighting I’ve ever seen, I loved Shadow of the Colossus.

The abundance of customization featured in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and the myriad types of battles makes this game a definite keeper.

It isn’t every day I manage to find a game with this much replayability, and I think that speaks a lot for the effort and eye to detail that Incog, Inc. put into this game. Excellent graphics, audio, and gameplay all balance to create a truly rewarding game.

It provides both a immensely enjoyable movie experience as well as some quite robust game play.

But if you manage to look beneath the skin of this frightener you'll find sub par artificial intelligence, a laughable plot, and the same play mechanics found in the now very dated original.

There are enough fundamental overhauls, most notably the begged-for housing, that the game is certainly worth a fresh look even from my weary eyes, jaded by almost two years of playing.

If you’re looking for something to suck the greater part of your life away this is the game for you.

Despite the gummi ship craziness, I found this game to be completely addictive.

A simple, intuitive user interface, coupled with excellent sound and truly amazing visual effects for an RPG of this magnitude is amazing in itself.

For all Warhammer 40,000 fans, you'll find a sumptuous, satisfying look at the age of war, with units that are both familiar and completely faithful, including the impressive Avatar of Khaine. Those of us that are RTS fans will find a game that has some deep gameplay elements, furious action, and absolutely gorgeous art design.

Overall feel and flavor for the ground war is masterful... Blitzkrieg is a rare gem, a Real Time Strategy that works on all fronts.

I swear your will I.Q. increase the longer you play it, as you are forced to really experiment and think things through just to get to the next stage. An awesome game with an awesome plot.

While I didn’t like it at first, I grew to like the ability to only save your game in the special sanctuaries. Yeah, it makes the game more challenging, but it really fits in with the Castlevania world.

FEAR is an unqualified success in my opinion, as it creates a good, stressful, horrific environment that doesn’t quite jump you out of your seat as creep you out.

Another major failing of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on the Xbox is the unnatural controller layout, and it's a fault that can't be too heavily attributed to the developers.

The fighting system is remarkable with a number of combo potentials and variety of moves that keep the combat from getting old.

CoN glued me to my couch for hours on end with its refined take on the genre. It certainly hasn’t revolutionized the genre, but it’s pushing the genre in the direction it should be going and in the end, that’s almost as good.

Once again delivers solid gameplay mechanics mixed in with numerous unlockable features and plenty of racing potential.

Not only will you get your money's worth, but you’ll probably still be playing it when "NHL 2003" is released.

A fantastic game that uses the GBA link in a meaningful way, turning a pretty good single player game into an over the top joy to play multiplayer experience.

All the multimedia does is add to an already immersive and intense experience.

My only real complaint is that the game is somewhat short... However, Full Spectrum Warrior is still a must for any hardcore gamer.

Visually, Gun is one of the prettiest looking titles I’ve seen in terms of quality of design.

I would buy a GameCube for this game only and not be disappointed. If I never play another game on the system, I already feel I got my money's worth. That is how good this game is.

I still think this is the GameCube's equivalent of "Halo."

Manages to capture the full-realism of 3D driving on a handheld device without having to make the graphics small and jagged.

What really makes this game such a blast to play is the developers' understanding the importance of vehicles and aircraft in the Vietnam War.

Certainly one of the best new Mario games to come to market in recent years, blending the best of many of Nintendo's game types into something that is a blast to play and varied enough to capture and keep your attention from beginning to end.

Graphically this game is brilliant. While I can't say that the graphics were jaw dropping for their quality, the motion capture is by far some of the best I've ever seen, not just for the cutscene intro but also in the game play as well.

If you're looking for something a bit more accessible and arcade-influenced than most golf games, or if you just love Mario, you can't go wrong with Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour.

While the game has its challenging moments, it doesn’t have the frustration factor that some GBA games have and can be played joyfully by experienced or novice game players.

You can tell the amount of love poured into this game, it really shows. An excellent title for anyone who enjoys adventure games, especially those who like the less linear feel that Fable has to offer.

This game has great controls, but they’re touchy.
