There was no violence for violence sake, everything felt like it was done with perfect context. The writers and those that acted in the game all deserve a lot of credit, it was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had with a controller in my hands.

It's truly an adventure from start to finish, and something that every gamer should experience.

Just remember, Fable is not "Project Ego." What it is, though, is a redefinition for RPG's. How can Rockstar follow this? San Andreas is a masterpiece; the outstanding gameplay from the first two games has been extended, tweaked and applied to a fresh, original and fascinating setting. It is fair to say that on the current generation we have a perfect racing package.

The benchmark that other Xbox titles should strive for: a solid combination of gameplay, graphics and variety.

At 800 Microsoft points, you are getting great value per table. Pinball Arcade is by far the most accurate representation of pinball there is and short of buying up the real things, you will not get a better option.

It's the kind of game that makes Gamestyle thumb its nose at the third dimension... collectively question the latter-day wisdom for 'bigger and better' experiences. Metroid: Zero Mission may be relatively small, but it's perfectly formed.

With only five levels one could argue that there isn’t much to Ikaruga. Yet what it lacks in size it more than up for in terms of playability and challenge.

It feels like it has been made with a lot more care and attention than most big budget titles from last year and it has found a deserving home on current gen consoles.

Put in enough time and you will find you are able to block, sidestep, counter, throw and special move your way to an impressive amount of “perfects”, without ever reaching the ridiculous heights of some games whereby a newcomer has no chance whatsoever.

What you do have here though is a game that doesn't hide what it is. It is pure unadulterated violence and it makes sure you are having fun with it, you come out the other end covered in blood and loving the feeling.

An endlessly entertaining and meticulously crafted modern roguelike.

Tower defence games have been done to death, yet here Anomaly adds an excellent twist to the genre. If you have the PC or mobile version, then this may not be an instant purchase, but if not, then you just need to pick it up.

Rock Band 2 really is the game Rock Band should have been in the first place, but it's nothing more than that.

The game design and detail is far beyond what other games offer, in fact it puts almost everything to shame.

Longish load times aside, Project Gotham Racing 3 strikes an excellent balance between arcade and sim gameplay without alienating fans of either, and everyone - from Sunday drivers to Autobahn veterans - will find something to love here.

MLB 14: The Show will not be for everyone, it isn’t a game for the casual gamer. It is a game for fans of the sport and for those it is the perfect game to have, especially with the cross-save features that mean you are never away from the action for any longer than you need to be. As good a sports simulation as you can get.

F2P done right. But not just that, a game that is truly worthy of your money.

Quibbles aside, Gamestyle would be hard-pressed to name a better RPG it has experienced on the current crop of consoles.

One of the finest RPGs to appear on any format. Though bettered by latter incarnations of the series, the original remains both innovative and a pure joy to play.

There is enough on offer in single-player to keep you busy for weeks, and the lifespan is stretched even further thanks to the Time Trial mode.

Graphically, the game is - for lack of a better expression - gorgeous.

Guacamelee isn’t the second coming of anything like that. It takes a tried and tested formula and just delivers. It gets the basics right and makes sure fun is at the forefront of what it does. Great platforming, wonderful adventure, silky smooth combat and the perfect balance of challenge and enjoyment.

It’s not only the best of the Mario and Luigi series (in fact, we’d be perfectly happy if the series ended on such a high note), but it also ranks as one of our games of the year.

Hydro Thunder Hurricane will not be the stand out title of the 'Summer of Arcade', but for fans of the original and newcomers alike, it is a wonderful experience that deserves your attention.

The Darkness II easily has one of the best narratives you'll find in a game, from how it is told, to how it looks. Along with some excellent gameplay, you would be an utter fool not to add this to your collection.

All in all, Transformers: War for Cybertron is a good, fun game.

DiRT is very much an offline game, so if you're looking for online thrills, look elsewhere, it does not deliver. What it does deliver, however, is a single player treat that is nothing short of fantastic.

The Splatters is a game that from first view feels like it should have been made for iOS rather than XBLA, but from the moment you start playing you will not regret your purchase. Game play is challenging but without ever become dull or too complex. It is only 800 Microsoft Points too and very much worth every penny you will pay.

A wonderful game that plays on the best ideas from Roguelikes and creates something a bit special.

It is a shame that the original game never found it's way to XBLA, the sequel is one that should be played by everyone, it looks amazing, it has challenging, yet not frustrating puzzle element and is so satisfying to play.

To be able to seek out rogue Tie Fighters amongst the laser blasts from their sound position from a five speaker set up is a joy to behold in itself.

There is so much on offer again, that there is easily something for everyone. It's not the finished article, but as each year passes, we get closer to perfect virtual recreations of the sport.

But overall, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is an enthralling tale, told with aplomb, leaving just enough to interpretation to provide a satisfactory conclusion for everyone.

There's not much here to renew interest for old fans (save the most dedicated), but for everyone else prepare to be amazed - Solid Snake is back!

Neves’ strength is its central concept, which is compelling, elegant and creative. It’s a must for any puzzle fan.

While the third in the series Trials and Tribulations remains the high point in the Phoenix Wright saga, Dual Destinies comes up as a very close second. Managing to wash out the bad taste the Edgeworth spin-off left, this is an incredible return to form for the series. With each case being as intriguing as the last it’s a game that is hard to put down till you’ve reached the games dramatic conclusion.

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing could well have been a disaster for Sega, it could of seen them laughed at from all sides, with what looked every bit like a cash in on Nintendo's success with Mario Kart. What we got though was not only a fine casual racing game, we have what is possibly the one of finest kart racing games since 1992.

It is hard to hide from the fact though, that this is more of the same, a retread of previous games in the series, just with improved visuals. Now at this time that isn’t a bad thing, it is still a fantastic experience but at the same time this also feels like this should be it.

This is one of the finest puzzlers on the Vita and we simply cannot recommend it enough.

All in all the improvements make this game a very enjoyable all round experience. Whether you want to pick up and play, or get into the nitty gritty, this game has something for every gaming sports fan out there.
