  1. DiRT seems to do just about everything right.
  2. Brilliant physics, handling and damage engine are well utilized in this be-all,-end-all ode to four-wheel dirt racing.
  3. If you’re looking for the perfect replication of sliding around a gravel corner with all four tires holding on for dear life, then buy it with no reservations. The learning curve is just right regardless of your experience level, there’s a ton of content despite the lack of true online play, and it’s a very pretty game, despite some occasional draw-in.
  4. As a graphical showpiece, DiRT is an unbridled success. It also happens to be an entirely enjoyable rally racer.
  5. Definitely more inviting to non-rallycross fans, and the graphics and modes are certainly a boost. Unfortunately, the online mode is a letdown, as are the framerate issues.

Slightly flawed in some spots -- its Career mode, for example, is a pyramid of increasingly challenging events rather than a glimpse into a racer's life -- DiRT is nevertheless a big, beautiful game that goes places previous McRaes have not. It's quite simply one of the finest driving-centric titles to hit the still-new 360 world.

It retains the feel of McRae, but not the subtlety or precision. The car doesn’t feel different enough across the various surfaces, while the ability to stop almost instantly in the majority of cars on any track is a sign that they are not interacting with the ground as they should. They feel loose, almost distant.

I'm not a Forza or This game is pure awesome, and as close to real as a racing game can get while staying fun for the average gamer. I'm not a Forza or Grand Turismo fan, the burnout and NFS series' have always held my heart, but this semi-sim has just the right amount of challenge and reward to keep me coming back to it. The lack of anything but improvised hot seat multiplayer at home is sad, but the single player is incredible enough to play and watch that you and your friends won't mind taking turns. Dirt for the win! Expand

Already owning and When I first played the demo, I wasn't too impressed with the over responsive handling, but overall it was fun. Already owning and loving Forza 2, I thought I'd go for Dirt. I'm glad I did. When Forza 2 gets slighty dull (after hours of constant play), it's a breath of fresh air to play a no-brainer game that it full of speed and excitement. If I had to choose, I'd have Forza2 over this but if you can, get them both as they are totally different games. Also, get the forcefeedback steering wheel. It's amazing how much it adds to these games. For all those people who gave Dirt a score of 1, well you're entitled to your opinion....but you're wrong. Cheers. Expand

+ Best looking racing game ever on any platform + Variety of disciplines, not just rally + Damage modelling - Baaad physics. Way too powerful + Best looking racing game ever on any platform + Variety of disciplines, not just rally + Damage modelling - Baaad physics. Way too powerful brakes - No snow, no rain - No multiplayer, only leaderboards - Cars reset too easily Why make a game which actually manages to LOOK REAL, be totally unreal in terms of physics? Also, the multiplayer is total failure. It is not really a multiplayer, it´s a cheap trick. The game is 100% single player game, with online leaderboards, nothing more. Expand

The damage models are the best I've ever seen. I've not played Motorstorm so I can't compare Dirt to that one. Everybody who has been saying how much better this is to Forza 2, I'd like to ask you if we have the same game? The handling, the physics, it all feels real floaty. The car doesnt even feel like it is touching the ground. This has been the same for just about every Colin game that I've played thus far. Last thing I can't stand is the instant reset, where your car is put back on the road when you go off the edge of a track. Watching the crashes can be alot of fun, but soon as you are off the track, poof, back on road. Unrealistic and takes away the fun of the crashes. Forza 2 is still my favorite racing game, I'm glad this was just a rental. I'd say do the same to see if you like this one, you might be disappointed. Expand
