If you enjoyed Batman: Arkham City in 2011, there's really no great incentive to don the superhero costume again. The Wii U version is still a good way to experience and explore Arkham City if you've yet to play the game, though.

It's very hard not to like the new Doom. The game's approach to shooting is fast, frantic and incredibly well-made, with a feeling of both old and new all at once. The story is relatively long, growing steadily more repetitive the more you play, but multiplayer and SnapMap work nicely as diversions, making the overall package very likeable.

Game Builder Garage is meant as a simple, easy to understand, and visual introduction to coding, and for that purpose it works very well.

Until Dawn is surprisingly good, with well-written characters, incredibly good looks and a thrilling atmosphere through and through.

Hitman 2 delivers a quality continuation of what the previous game started. The maps are bigger, more complex and offers tons of replayability. What the game lacks in story it makes up for with sheer joy in both exploration and dumb ways to take out your target. Technically the game doesn't deliver nearly as well, with the frame rate taking a hit when there is a lot going on on the screen.

Tales from the Borderlands is Telltale at their funniest, with a well-written story, amazing moments and characters you'll absolutely fall in love with. There is however too much downtime, and the final episode is somewhat of a disappointment.

Housemark hits the mark again, with yet another beautiful, challenging and chaotic bullethell action game. The story might not be the greatest, but the fluid, fast-paced action keeps the game engaging and entertaining all the way through.

Despite missing its multiplayer component and the past decade's worth of refinement in shooting, Modern Ware 2's campaign is a thrilling and epic as ever, well worth another plunge for nostalgics, or a first dip for newcomers to the game.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a game that looks backwards and thereby creates a demonstrative contrast to modern trends.

Just Cause 2 delivers a huge amount of vehicles, tons of enemy bases and installations to liberate and gameplay so extreme that you'll end up giggling in front of the screen.

Brave New World makes Civilization even more addictive that it already was. Every new feature is interesting in its own way and enriches the game experience. The fact that it focuses mostly on the last half of the game makes this expansion a must.

This wonderfully engaging adventure combines the best features from classic Zelda games with several new mechanics from more recent entries. Developer Grezzo doesn't nail every aspect of the experience, but the neverending stream of fun puzzles and charming gameplay easily outshine the game's weaker points.

Cities in Motion is a beautiful, deep and engaging economic strategy game. Making sure that the public transit system runs smoothly is highly addictive, though constant traffic jams will probably frustrate new players.

It's pretty remarkable how well this game is holding up to it's current competitors. Halo had a massive impact on shooters in general, and this handsome will tell you why.

With it its isometric perspective, real time combat system, great focus on roleplaying and a decent chunk of side content, Pillars of Eternity is a giant ball of playable nostalgia. You don't have to have played Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale to get the most out of this gem of a game. It fits just as well for new players as it does for old veterans.

Do you want to ru(i)n an island? As supreme ruler on Tropico you can suppress your population, or see your country prosper. Every inhabitant is doing a job, thus it is far more practical if they work for you rather than against you. This small micro perspective combined with the macro management of foreign powers makes Tropico unique. Annoying features of past games in the series are gone. This should be a great game for old as well as new aspiring dictators.

Lightning Returns is a fun game filled with myriad things to do. The combat system is excellent, and the many options with with you can customize Lightning brings are impressive. It's a fitting end to the series and bodes well for the future of Final Fantasy.

Deathsmiles has plenty of love for the absurd and changes the shoot-em-up formula enough to delight and surprise you. The minimalistic focus on avatar movement and bullet streams invigorates the genre by bringing it back to its roots, and the deluxe package offers great bang for the bucks.

With five new maps, new weapons and vehicles, Vietnam is a good multiplayer-expansion to 2010s best first person shooter. Although a new mode would have given the package more meat to the bone, there is plenty of napalm to go around.

You can't help but notice that this game has a nice combination of sound and picture. Kunitsu-Gami is evocative and different, and well worth checking out for anyone missing new twists on the tower defense front.
