Ankama Play managed to create a colorful setting, filled with wonderfully designed characters. Unfortunately, the lack of information concerning this setting, along with the repetitive nature of the gameplay mechanics, lower Islands of Wakfu's overall value.

The Crew 2 is a better game than its predecessor, but still -4 years later- manages to fall flat on exactly the same areas. Yet again we have a shining example of a game that will be complete in a few months from now, with many vital updates like the PvP Multiplayer missing - essentially the games' endgame. The writing is awful with a constant "How do you do, fellow kids" vibe that misinterprets what's "cool", but the game is at its best when it lets the player loose on the massive United States “Best-Of” map instead of confining him in boring tracks.

Watch Dogs: Legion is presented as Ubisoft’s grandest and most compelling adventure ever, but ends up failing to deliver what has been promised. Despite the additional development time, it lost the chance to deliver a new type of experience that includes the much-advertised Operators Recruitment.

Fun as it may be using the Swiss knife-like grappling hook, the same can’t be said for the extremely repetitious nature of the missions. Unfortunately, the Just Cause series seems to have stagnated from ideas after its second entry and a myriad of explosions (albeit exciting for a bit) cannot alleviate that feeling.

If you were expecting a unique experience, equal to that of the PlayStation era games, you will be very disappointed. On the other hand, as a plain third person shooter, The 3rd Birthday is capable of delivering some quality gaming hours.

A game that could have been lots of things. It could have been a tribute to a great franchise that is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary. It could have been a place of reference for active multiplayer gaming that offers pure fun. Instead, it is a collection of mini-games that can be compared to a trip down the memory lane – an opportunity to relive good gaming moments, which is marked by lack of elements that can give this title its proper place into the Mario Party fandom.

The new version of Mafia 2 is more polished, cleaner and more detailed than ever before, but the problems with the plot, mission development, character development, driving and gunplay are still present. Ultimately, players who still own the original (now dubbed "classic") version of the game on Steam, had better stick to it.

With its enjoyable battle system and great co-op mode, 9 Monkeys of Shaolin is a decent tribute to kung-fu movies of the 70s.

Even though at this point many of the tragic problems the game had at its release have been addressed, WWE 2K20 is a shadow of the former games of the series, and only capable of delivering some fun only to the most avid fans of the franchise.

The Occultist is largely focused on building a series of atmospheric, Lovecraftian-inspired stages, and it succeeds in delivering a visually engaging aesthetic. The experience is supported by simple yet satisfying environmental puzzles. However, its storytelling feels bland, the voice acting is subpar in many cases, and the stalker-type enemies should have been removed entirely.

Atelier Dusk Trilogy -and generally the Atelier series- mostly relates to an audience that does not seek a major challenge or important stories and plots with memorable characters, since the only thing it offers is an experience that thrives through harvest and crafting.

Although the idea behind In My Shadow is an intriguing one and the messages that it tries to convey to the players are important, it lacks in the delivery of said messages as well as in its overall technical and aesthetic departments.

Ground Zero offers a generous amount of content, with large maps and plenty of replay value. However, it often leans toward quantity over quality. While the level design is solid, movement feels clunky and oddly favors tank controls over modern ones. On top of that, its puzzles, enemies, and setting play things too safe, relying heavily on nostalgia.

The idea behind Salary Man Escape is interesting and the puzzles are well crafted, but the graphical design of the game is bland and boring and the music awful. But, overall, it’s a decent puzzle game that will keep you squeezing your mind for a few hours.

The mentality behind the development of Serious Sam 4 is summed up in the saying of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. It adheres to this saying so much that it forgets that this logic could very well fall in the trap of “diminishing returns”. Unfortunately, that is the case with the fourth instalment that seems to be nothing less than a rehash of the previous instalments, just with the obligatory but a bit unsatisfactory revamp of the graphics engine.

Dakar Desert Rally strives for something more but that is not enough. The lack of routes with interesting design and variety make it a boring racer, while this indecision about whether it wants to be serious or not, is an issue that in the future Saber Interactive should see through a different perspective.

The decline of NBA 2K games continues. It is still a good basketball game overall, but some changes, like the new shot system along with severe A.I. problems cause some serious problems to the experience.

Deathbound's unique gameplay inclusion of controlling multiple characters certainly helps it to stand out in the overcrowded soulslike genre. However, despite the well-thought implementation of this mechanic, the game is held back by baffling gameplay decisions, unremarkable level design and forgetable boss encounters, preventing it from rising above mediocrity.

In a fantastic and enjoyable reconstruction of the Late Classic Era of Greece, Ubisoft Quebec feeds the gamer’s hunger with tons and tons of gameplay material with no real substance and no real relation to the spirit of the Assassin’s Creed series. Worst of all, side missions and map cleaning gameplay is baptized Main Mission material in an effortless attempt to make justice of the mmo-like mechanics of the game. This is a dead end for the series and this kind of gameplay design.

Some degree of multiplayer fun is guaranteed, but the lack of any real depth "condemns" Mario Sports Mix as a simplistic and ephemeral experience. Mario sits on his throne for thirty years now, and it's certainly not due to games like this.

For better or worse, the first DLC of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle feels like side content, more like something cut from the main game than a true expansion. While it offers a few well-made puzzles, the lack of set pieces and a lackluster story drag it down.

Inayah is a prime example of a game lost in an oversaturated genre. Charming visuals alone are no longer enough to stand out among the myriad of Metroidvanias. While it boasts stylish comic-inspired art and a passable combat system, Inayah ultimately offers little beyond the genre’s most basic staples, without making any real effort to create its own identity.
