Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is not a new game. It’s not even a new re-release or a new remaster. It is, however, a fantastic addition to the Nintendo Switch library, one that can provide players with an experience that rivals even the most current RPGs. Old players and new are to be treated with a wonderful port and an even greater experience, despite minor problems due to the nature of the console and some others that should have been fixed years ago.

The world building, the lore and the overall style of Grimshade are excellent and though there is actual tactical depth beneath the simplistic first glance, the game’s pace, excruciating difficulty, unneeded number of battles and unbalanced heroes hinder this tactical turn-based homage to 90s JRPGs from being a truly magnificent effort.

Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered is a collection that comes packed with a heap of visual improvements and gameplay tweaks, yet maintains all the things that divided players back with the original release. There are still problems around, but it is a collection that transforms the experience to the modern-day standards and keeps us reminiscing the days when the series had much more promise.

Tropico 6 is a nice city-builder. It’s a polished game with a friendly interface, and it gives you more things to do than in previous Tropico games (for example, it has about 50% more buildings than the base version of Tropico 5). Tropico 6 currently has some annoying bugs that diminish its fun, but the bugs strike me as the type that can be fixed, rather than turning into “features” at a later date.

The well written story, mostly an afterthought in the majority of the games of its kind, is a very welcomed surprise in Katana Zero. The gameplay as well provides brutal, frenetic, challenging and utterly satisfying encounters. Alas, the whole content is finished in less than 3 hours leaving as with just a small part of a larger story arc, as it seems, and a limited number of levels that are not even close in giving as the impression that we had our fill from the action.

Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the New World is an Atelier spinoff that manages to do what similar games cannot; bring together two different genres and merge them into a unique city-building and managing experience. Although not without flaws (mainly the uninspired shooting and stealth elements) and a frame rate that needs to be more stabilized, Days Gone still is a commendable first effort from Bend Studio to the big leagues of AAA games. The world they crafted is filled with quality writing and a very strong lead character with Deacon St. John, who is likeable and as flawed as needed in order for him to be more humane than the typical "knight in shining armor".

The Princess Guide is a missed opportunity for NIS America. It could have been a game that offered amazing interactions with cute and memorable characters. It could have been a game that offered a totally comprehensive and satisfactory battle system. It could have been a game with a straightforward approach to its mechanics. It could have been a fun and immersive title. It could have done lots, but ultimately fails to deliver what the developers had in mind. The main dilemma that comes with the game is “Praise” or “Scold”? Probably the latter.

Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn helps players remember the elements that let them enjoy the title back in 2010, and gives the opportunity to new players to experience the joy of playing in a woolen world. The game is a mix of traditional and modern gameplay innovations that have been encountered in the Kirby series all over the years, and manages to be fun, but ultimately fails in persuading players to spend hours on it. It is a decent addition to the franchise, but Hitman 2 feels more like an expansion of the original game rather than a true sequel that pushes forward what IO Interactive did in 2016 and 2017.

A title that satisfies our gaming nostalgia, but tries to define itself due to the improper implementation of different gameplay styles. If you are amongst the select few who haven’t experienced the first games of the series, then Pokémon Let’s Go! is the game for you. If you consider yourselves a seasoned Pokémon trainers, then playing the game will only make you dream of what the core games will look like when they arrive.

The charm of the original trilogy of Spyro games has endured through the years and with this collection, where everything looks shiny, beautiful and modern, the adventures of Spyro are better than ever.

FromSoftware's first venture into the realm of virtual reality left us with mixed feelings. Deracine is by no means a bad game, but it fails to deliver anything more than a shell of an (almost Myst-like) adventure game that was made for the PSVR, backed by great atmosphere and an interesting story.

It is genuinely positive to have the next installment of a series like Darksiders in today’s market. With remarkable level design and robust combat system, Darksiders III is a must have for the fans and a great action-adventure recommendation for everyone else.

Wet Dreams Don’t Dry feels like a fan project. Deliciously full of tribute to the source material, hardcore gameplay layout and charming ideas for the connection of the past with the present, but also hindered by low budget technical implementation and slight inability to meet the creative writing standards of its original creator. It is an entertaining effort which washes away the shame behind disasters such as Box Office Bust and we hope it can be but the start for new adventures of Larry. Maybe next time under the watchful eye of Al Lowe.

Call of Cthulhu has a very engaging atmosphere and story telling, adopting successfully the Lovecraftian Mythos, but messes things up when trying to insert gameplay mechanics like stealth and shooting. It should have focused more on puzzles, investigation and light RPG elements. Technically the game looks aged -something we could have overlooked- but the 45 euro price has no place for lenience.

Devoid of meaningful information about the Kursk and its disastrous accident the game shouldn’t be described in any way as a documentary by the developers. As a game it also fails due to extremely tedious and repetitive objectives, sending us back and forth to the same areas ad infinitum.

Probably the best iteration of Tetris since its inception back in Soviet Russia of the '80s. Whether you own a PSVR unit or not, if you love Tetris this is a must-have.

LEGO DC Super-Villains is just another game based on the LEGO formula with a complete and interesting villain roster and perfect voice cast choices. However, after so many LEGO releases we can't forgive Tt Games for the total lack of innovation and for problems that continue to exist after so many years.

The signs of time have indicated the return of the Prime Evils on the Nintendo Switch. The most recent version of Diablo 3 comes on the Switch, bringing all the devilishly addictive gameplay and hellishly haunting stories and lore on the go. It’s the Diablo 3 game that we all know and have loved so far, despite its graphical compromises and the lack of addition of any new content, and promises to carry players to the world of Sanctuary one last time.

For such a small indie team, delivering boss fights that can resemble, even slightly, the ingeniousness of From Software’s work is nothing less than highly commendable. Although Sinner can feel a bit bare bones in terms of content it can nevertheless provide a good thrill for boss rush games aficionados or anyone who wants to take part in challenging, albeit fair, battles.

Luigi’s Mansion for the Nintendo 3DS is an overall decent port of the original. The fact that Grezzo worked on it guarantees that the final product is respectful towards what the original developers made seventeen years ago. Many new additions and improvements, alongside the fact that the 3D effect is giving us the impression of a 17-year old definitive edition are more than enough for newcomers to the series to give it a shot, yet might fail veteran players who have tried everything the game could give and are expecting something entirely new.
