At the end of the day, I love AC3. I know that I’m not the average player, having studied the Marquis de Lafayette at a college level, but I love sinking hours into Ubisoft’s version of colonial America, where the oft-overlooked make the most important choices of all. Also, I can attack as many Redcoats as I want, with the only consequence being a city-wide manhunt. With this fresh coat of paint, Assassin’s Creed III has never been more fun—providing you enjoyed it in the first place.

Assassin's Creed III Remastered is better and most complete than the original, although the improvements don’t really enhance the experience all that much.

Assassin's Creed III Remastered is a worthwhile trip back in time, and the smattering of upgrades make for a much better experience for longtime fans and series newcomers.

Assassin's Creed 3 Remastered, without correcting the major structural problems of the original, is still a recommended title as a complete edition of a way of making games that Ubisoft no longer implements.

Assassin's Creed III Remastered version is just a nice try. It's a nice try to bring glory to a mediocre game, which hasn't been good enough upon its release and surely isn't good enough now. The UI changes definitely improve the gameplay, and the graphics are truly amazing - but still aren't close to other games from this era. If you haven't played it before, you might want to check it off your list since it does have a unique story. If you have, I recommend not wasting your time unless you're feeling really, really nostalgic and have nothing better to do.

In short, nothing collected here is as good as the best this series has to offer. But, Assassin’s Creed III Remastered is a welcome glimpse into an era that would define much in the years to come.

Even a high-quality remaster such as this can’t hide the fact that Assassin’s Creed III is too much a product of its time and has little to offer modern gaming.

I played it for the first time over the last few weeks and really enjoyed my time with it. Conner isn't a bad character - the story is pretty good. The thing that I really enjoyed was the setting. I thought that alone carried the game compared to some of the other AC games. I'm glad I went back to this. Expand

Feels like they removed all lighting, cranked up contrast and brightness and called it a day. Also why does a 7 year old game still getting 40ish fps?

Normally, I'd give the game an 8 for great story and enjoyable gameplay. However, I am docking 3 points for the following reasons:
    1. Graphical glitches. Apart from your standard phasing-out textures, I routinely experience models phasing through the ground or through each other, interrupted actions sometimes finish their animations despite what is happening in the "reality" of the game is different, and other things like HUD interference from quests different from the quest I am currently on.
    2. it also contains tons of gameplay glitches that marres the overall experience and makes your character look like kind of a goof, such as randomly missing ledges and not being able to move at times despite nothing blocking the way. These bugs are extremely common, with only mere minutes of gameplay separating them.
    3. The demands of some of the optional side quests with relation to the bugginess of the game. Let me make this clear: I have no problem with extremely demanding challenges. However, it is one thing if you fail because you were not "gud" enough, but it is an entirely different story when your success or failure is completely non-deterministic due to the inherent flaws with the game's engine. It is really disheartening to see all your hard work undone because the game decided to change the rules with an unfair glitch such as a guard randomly stopping in his tracks, preventing you from moving, or if you are required to perform a scripted assassination, except the game bugs out and does not allow you to assassinate them. Many times I would have to restart the memory before the game-breaking bug would go away. Couple that with some truly sadistic optional goals (which would have been fine if the game was not a glitchy mess), and you truly have a recipe for pure rage fuel.

All in all. I truly enjoyed my experience. I just wish the did a better job at polishing the amazing array of bugs that come out of nowhere and really mess up with the experience of an otherwise wonderful game.

And the controls that were acceptable six and a half years ago are completely atrocious. After playing the beautiful Odyssey for 5 months I just couldn’t go back. I tried, but between characters that don’t have eyelids to controls that seem to be designed to annoy I just couldn’t go back. Oh, and so much Animus gameplay. Any Animus is too much in my book, and there’s plenty of it in Assassin’s Creed 3. Expand

ESPECIALLY for a remaster. The remaster is even more buggy than the original, and they did nothing to make the flow of the mechanics feel any better, if anything it’s worse. They took a terrible game, made it operate worse and then slapped some paint on it to call it “pretty”. Do not buy. Expand
