Frustrating controls, boring game play and a lack of incentives to keep playing mires an interesting concept. Cannot recommend this one, especially when there are so many good space games of all genres out there at the moment.

It’s really fun and challenging, but unfortunately, due to the crazy loading times -- and the fact I know the graphics could be better -- I have to give it the score it deserves, rather than the score I want to give it.

Anomaly has some interesting concepts, but it fails to entice me to explore it deeper.

N.E.R.O. fails at generating an exciting or mentally challenging experience, but it really doesn’t try to. This visually stunning title places a great emphasis on its narrative, which is both uplifting and devastating – you’ll be thinking about this one for a long time afterwards.

If you’re a die-hard fan of Deadlight, then you probably don’t even need to read a review to know whether or not to buy it, you’ll just do it anyway. For everyone else, this is an average game that has been surpassed in the years since it came out. There are far better 2D platformers available. You can give this one a miss.

As much as the title is memorable and is certainly a bit of a giggle, beyond this we get another forgetful short lived game. Visually terrible and on-par with the likes of a mobile game, Super Duper Party Pooper is another fun for a few minutes time-waster that’s eventually flushed away among your other forgotten steam games.

While it can be a little frustrating on occasion, as any puzzle game can, Kick and Fennick is a charming little platformer with a unique mechanical twist - well worth a shot, and I’m sure you’ll have a blast.

All in all, Heart&Slash is a fun brawler rogue-lite with a quirky and charming presentation, it has a good sense of humour and a lot to offer fans of both genres. The unique elements it brings to the table definitely make the genre more approachable.

Take Off – The Flight Simulator may not visually be all that comparable to flight sims on the PC market, but when it comes to the mobile device market, Take Off definitely comes under one of the better flying game experiences out there on the iOS app store.

The Way has a lot going for it: the world is interesting, the puzzles are testing, and it has a wonderful charm. The movement is precise enough to make the platforming work, and controlling the powers is never an effort. Worth a punt if you’re looking for something a little retro this summer.

Overdosed - A Trip to Hell is a bad trip through bad game design choices that was released a little too early to be good. From dull graphics to bad gunplay, indistinguishable enemies and cluttered audio, this game doesn’t feel finished and could do with more time with a QA team.

While it may look like a dirty cartoon, Demetrios: The BIG Cynical Adventure is endearing and eminently playable.

I can only recommend this to game to anyone that is obsessed with 4X games and is willing to put up with the flaws and bugs, the sorcerer customisation and leveling up is extremely satisfying as you can truly build your character in the way you want.

Anima: Gate Of Memories is probably one of the worst experiences I’ve had on PS4 so far. Boring combat mixed with unlikable and frankly sexist characters, give me no real reason to recommend this game to anyone. Avoid.

While I'm not a fan of baseball or sport micromanagement games, I can still appreciate Out of the Park for what it is, a solid game that has a butt load of features. Anyone who is a fan of baseball or games like Football Manager should definitely check this game out.

The Technomancer has frustrated me a lot over the last couple weeks, because I really enjoyed the world that Spiders created and wanted to get to know the characters more, but the constant choke points and combat inconsistencies make me want to stop playing.

With excellent gameplay and atmospheric effects, tied together in a bundle of deeply intricate lore, fans of the series should not be disappointed.

Although its mechanics are not upbeat enough to have you engaged for hours at a time, the story is interesting enough to say something, however niche this message is.

Overall, I think Shadwen could be a good game, but for whatever reason I was unable to play it as the developer intended.

It doesn’t instinctively do anything wrong, but the game is too simple and is missing too many additions that other videogames would consider standard and basic, like audio itself. There’s too much lacking inside the game to warrant a recommendation for anything more than a quick play.

This is a sexy game designed for weirdos, and I’m fully aware of that. It’s also an entertaining brawler, mechanically. Comboing large groups of enemies into the sky is always satisfying, but I do wish I was controlling a model that wasn’t quite so ridiculously sexualised. I think all I can really say is that I had fun with it, and a lot of other people will have fun with it too. I just hope they’re having fun for the right reasons.

Raining Blobs is a game that falls back on the saturated colour-match genre, but hopes to garner interest through its use of Kawaii female characters. Unfortunately this leads to an uninspired and unoriginal experience that is easily beaten by the more established games in its genre.

Absolutely painful to play. It works, but is in no way a fun game experience.

I really like Blacksea Odyssey, and I’m gonna keep it on my PC to play occasionally when I have a few minutes. Yes the controls are annoying, but I had a lot of fun and got really into progressing through the odyssey.

Honestly, I might be pushing it with the gameplay being lackluster and the abundance of loading screens, but this game deserves credit where credit’s due. I may not have connected with it emotionally, the style of story told - whilst not for everyone - is something I’m sure will hit home or strike a chord for some people and whilst I didn’t focus on the value of loss. It definitely gave me food for thought of expressing a narrative that felt genuine and earnest.

Life Goes On: Done to Death is a fun puzzle title that will tax you, and let you blow off steam by murdering hundreds (thousands) of knights.

For what could be an exciting arcade racer Table Top Racing: World Tour fails to make an impression. It's an acceptable racer but it does little to distinguish itself leaving it feeling standard and boring.

I really wanted to like One Troll Army, but the only people I would recommend this to are streamers, and even then it’s a gimmick you could play once and move on to something else. If they’d have made the non-streaming version more important, with failure states that actually meant something, this would be better, but as it stands this is a game for streamers and not the average gamer.

Definitely one of the strongest remasters available on the current gen consoles, with enough improvements to more than compete with most new games. In a surprise turn, it also manages to better its original release - it’s been a long time since the title “Definitive Edition” was this well earnt.

Challenging but never as enjoyable as it could have. Battle Worlds: Kronos has fun moments, but many will find the difficulty curve far too frustrating. Poor console optimization means progression is often limited by a lack intuitive movement controls. This is for the hardcore strategy fans only.

In all, I’m happy with the DLC, just annoyed that it is so short. It’s fun to use the mechs and it’s interesting to learn more about Medici’s past for a lore hound like me.

You’ll have a blast however you approach it.

A brilliant remastering of a PlayStation classic. While Square Enix could have gone further with the remastering you are still treated to an amazing story, a brilliant cast of characters in a beautiful world ready to be explored and loved by all.

A fun little puzzle platform game that if anything has very easy to get achivements.

Sandbox possibilities and endless ‘what-if’ questions bump up what is already an impressive level of replayability. Paradox Interactive have created a game that strategy gamers and history buffs should get on their shelves as soon as possible.

There are a few negatives here and there, but it doesn’t damper on the whole experience and leads me to believe that The Abandoned could be one of the better survival games on the app store.

Koihime Enbu is a surprisingly well-designed fighter and, while it might not shake up the industry, has very little wrong with it and quite a lot going for it.

Slightly Mad Studios have, in the year since release, tidied up Project CARS no end. There’s still a few small niggles here and there, but overall this is now a title I will happily have adorning my shelf.

For the budget price Dovetail Games are asking it is a great jumping on point for folk new to flight simulators or intimidated by the thought of a ‘full’ simulator. The content on offer is well-produced and a lot of fun. Just be aware of some potential technical gremlins.

Sorcery! Part 3 is more of the same, and I’m beginning to grow tired. The episodic format works well for stories that offer more dramatic or emotional moments, and having to wait months between each part has allowed other, better, roleplaying games to steal my interest.

I’m going to give Earn to Die 2 a good score because I actually enjoyed my time with it, but I can’t recommend buying it to you. Get the mobile version, because this is perfect to play through one or two runs while you’re not doing anything, or else play the browser version because its pacing is much better for playing more than ten minutes at a time.

It’s fun and frantic, and has plenty of replayability. It just happens to sound poor and look dated.

Poor AI severely limits the immersion of the game, rather sadistic and somewhat irritating main characters don’t make it any easier to play either.

If you’re a comic fan, for the price, it’s got a strong, sci-fi plot, and it’s probably worth checking out, although you might find yourself skipping some battles. If you’re not a comic fan then this probably doesn’t really have much to offer you, it’s a bit hit or miss.

A fantastic story well told, superbly presented. When it comes to point and click adventures on Steam, Kathy reigns.

If you are a fan of fishing, then this is a game I would label as a must have. Having said that, I am not a fan of fishing but I found Ice Lakes to be a wonderful experience with its glorious visuals, a multitude of game modes, and a running theme which is continued throughout. Forget about the fish; Ice Lakes is the catch of the day.

Some poor design holds The Collider 2 back from being great, and a surprisingly good looking game. While the number of individual missions is high, the differences between the objectives are negligible - play this game is short bursts. Worth a shot over a weekend.

Total War: Warhammer is a lovingly-crafted representation of the Warhammer world that is ripe for players to forge their stories in. It’s a must-buy for every Warhammer fan and Total War aficionado and is potentially the best release from the studio since the original Rome: Total War.

Considering my expectations weren’t high, the game sat rather well with me and scratched my FF Advance Tactics itch which wasn’t satisfied with my gander at Blazing Souls: Accelate on the PSP. Whilst the game doesn’t have really any truly unique selling points, it maintains itself as being a rather solid SRPG with the music and graphics to match these expectations.

There were elements that I enjoyed about Coffin Dodgers, and the fast-paced action and ragdoll physics led to some crazy races and funny fails. I enjoyed the story mode, especially with its amusing ending. Plus, the final showdown race is brilliant. But the game lacks depth, and doesn’t really have that draw that made me want to keep playing, especially with the omission of online features.

I did like Goetia, and I especially liked the visuals which were truly entrancing. I also liked the plot and the way that I could play it for a prolonged period of time without realising just how long I’d been on it. That sheer feeling of being engrossed is something I look for in a game, especially with horror games being my favourite genre. Goetia can be difficult at points and can lead to frustrating moments, but overall I was definitely impressed.

Guns, gore and demons. The classic DOOM is back and it's better than ever. With a glorious and immensely satisfying single player experience, DOOM is one of the best shooters of year. Shame it can't be said about the multiplayer, but at least with the addition of intuitive SnapMap you can create your very own Hell.

I really enjoyed this game, mainly because it is one of those games that excels in its wonderful simplicity, from the gameplay right through to its controls. The more you play the game and the further you progress, the more you get out of it. I found myself wanting to come back and play it again – which is surely the mark of a great title? In the case of TransOcean 2, it describes those sentiments perfectly.

One of the absolute finest space shooters on Steam today.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is visually stunning, and the best we've seen on console. Naughty Dog have produced a fine farewell to one of PlayStation's most beloved characters.

Ratchet and Clank is the culmination of Insomniac’s vast experience in the field of platformers. It’s not just the best platformer on the PS4, it’s one of the best games on the PS4 full-stop. A game of the year contender in my opinion.

Sapienza is an impressive addition to the Hitman reboot's library. It's incredibly well designed, packed full of content and absolutely gorgeous. You'll be hard pressed to find a better Hitman level.

Not just one, but three brilliantly unique and atmospheric tables from a stellar IP, staying true to the source material in sound as well as style.

Aside from its charming presentation and humorous characters, it all feels a little shallow, offering snippets of things we’ve seen hundreds of times before.

This will change how a lot of us play the game, but there’s always the Wild format if you aren’t ready to let go of any of your cards. With a new set of nicely designed cards and a noticeable improvement in the artwork, this is a great addition to the Hearthstone Stable.

A blisteringly fun early game can be dampened somewhat by the bloated middle and late stages, but Stellaris is another example of Paradox Interactive showcasing that they are the kings of grand strategy, and is a game that every fan of the genre should have in their collection.

There are minigames which break up the constant narrative, such as bandaging someone up and taking tons of photos, but ultimately 1979 Revolution: Black Friday is much more of an interactive story than a game. It just so happens to be a story which is so well written and performed, that it will make you wonder about yourself as a person.

Avoid this like the plague, and for god's sake, lads, hire yourself a better PR team.

Superb writing and a unique combat system combine to make The Banner Saga 2 something quite special, in the same way it did back in 2014. The larger variety and frequent introduction of enemy types stops The Banner Saga 2 from becoming dull and repetitive. The Banner Saga is fast becoming one of the best series in modern games, with some of the strongest characterisation and world-building in years.

Motocross fans are likely to be pleased, but those not into the extreme sport might not find it as enjoyable.

Severed is a story about love. A girl’s love of her family and Drinkbox’s love for Vita. Repetitive combat and a tough difficulty spike limit the enjoyment, but there’s no reason every Vita owner shouldn’t at least give it a go.

Although this game just secretes good vibes, it's never funny or clever enough to pass the critical eye. However, its light-heartedness and character is enough to play it through, and will have you dancing to the beat of the game for its duration.

Some generic plots and sound issues don’t detract too much from a fairly strong RPG/farming hybrid.

Stardust Galaxy Warriors is a 4 player mech style local arcade shoot ‘em up with RPG elements.

A tactical military game in large spaces with the mentality of small ones. Not a bad game, but definitely not one of the better ones within this genre.

Warden: Melody of the Undergrowth promises a lot with it's homage to the N64 era of action-adventure games, unfortunately it falls short of the prestige associated with that era. What we're left with is a clunky game that glitches quite regularly, there's still potential in the future, but the game needs a lot of issues fixing.

With great atmosphere, and a great translation of its simple mechanics into a desperate frenzy by the player, the late game becomes too nit-picky, allowing little space for improvisation, and turning out a bit boring.

I really enjoyed what the game had to show me in the end, and I’d highly recommend it if you can get past the slightly odd writing style and enjoy the medium. There is a lot of content for what you pay, and it’s worth it as a stand-alone episode.

Risk Of Rain finally gets the console release it deserves, a solid port with improved multiplayer capabilities only improves upon the fun had with the PC version. Must have for those looking for a great couch co-op experience.

An infinite runner game with a slightly different take on the genre and unlike most, a storyline. Not a mould breaker, but this budget title is different enough to make it worth checking out.

At once gorgeous, accessible, true to the lore and entirely engrossing, there hasn’t been as emphatic a tribute to the universe of Warhammer 40,000 since Dawn of War. Warhammer fans will love it and space RTS bods will enjoy its complexity and depth of tactics. Battlefleet Gothic is a game the God-Emperor Himself would be proud of.

If you like old fashioned platformers that are tough as nails but addictive, then you’ll love this. It’s a 16-bit platformer with modern day polish. A tremendous first effort from a small development team, this game deserves to be a big hit.

A different take on the choose-your-own-adventure genre, Stories is fantastic breath of fresh air. Though environments will soon become repetitive alongside the general gameplay, there’s no reason why this can’t become a series of it’s own.

I went into Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel Review quite skeptical at first, but what met me was a solid fighting game. The story is a big naff, but it looks great and plays well. That's all you need from a fighting game right?

Trackmania Turbo is a gem of a title that incorporates tight and responsive gameplay with longevity and replayability. You can spend a long time trying to attain all the gold medals, but it will be worth it.

With a lot of clever puzzles and a quirky, cartoon style. 101 Ways to Die is a great puzzle game that will keep you entertained for quite a while. As long as you can get it working that is.

Ant Workshop have created a tightly focussed title with a clear ethos and a truly original game mechanic. The difficulty may be off putting for some, but it’s intrinsic to the game.

The Secret Order 3: Ancient Times is a pleasant journey that will briefly entertain. At a budget price, it’s an ideal alternative to all the huge mainstream releases this month. Despite being the third in the series, it’s really quite a standalone story, and works as a great introduction to the genre.

Crudelis has a great world and a host of really interesting short stories that I will never get to the bottom of because I’m too impatient to watch through the same dialogue and clunky controls in an attempt to get the right endings. If I ever have thirty minutes I’ll probably boot it up and give it a whirl, just because it is such an interesting world to be in, but I don’t think I’ll actively try to beat the game.

Ultimately, this is a game which will not be for everyone. That high level of complexity will be a barrier to a lot of players. But if you have the patience and desire to spend a lot of time picking through the intricacies of the game, then it’s a very rewarding experience and one which I heartily recommend.

A bunch of new items and weapons, with a new companion and a huge amount of exploring to be done, there’s little reason Automatron shouldn’t be on your radar.

Dark Souls III is everything I could have wished for as a fan, and a marvelous conclusion to one of the greatest modern trilogies.

The game features a lovely, minimalistic art-style, but that doesn’t save it from the awkward, touchy controls that take too long to get the hang of to really enjoy the game for what it is.

If you like the 8-bit and 16-bit racing games of the 90's, than Race.a.bit is for you.

Ares Omega might interest some players with the pursuit of reaching the final floor, and like many rogue-lite games, it can be difficult and you will die a lot, but the more you play, the more it becomes a tedious, frustrating experience, which lessens any encouragement to go back.

Klaus is a little too easy, and barely rakes in a few hours of gameplay unless you are a complete beginner, which can feel unrewarding. But it makes a refreshing change from frustratingly difficult titles, and serves as a pleasant way to experience plot in a surprising genre.

I don’t particularly like this game. It’s very competent for what seems to be the developer's first game, but the FOV issues mixed with the poor gameplay mean I didn’t enjoy my time with it.

World's Fastest Pizza is a game that manages to balance quirky humour with solid gameplay, to provide a truly unique roguelike experience. Without certain upgrades the gameplay can sometimes prove frustrating, but this never happened enough to make me turn the game off. If you want something that is high in energy and humour, World's Fastest Pizza is for you.

The best proper rally sim we've had since Richard Burns Rally over a decade ago and a well timed return to form for Codemasters and the DiRT series.

I was genuinely impressed with Angels of Deception Part One. I really liked the plot and how it thickened, and I liked the variations in puzzles – although they weren’t always straightforward.

ZHEROS is a really fun and basic two player co-op video game for all ages.

Stikbold! is a beautifully unique party game at its core. Though a short campaign allows you to familiarize yourself to the gameplay, it’s lacking refinement to be considered worth much of your time. Multiplayer is where the game blossoms, it becomes an outstanding display of cartoon chaos. With so many different possibilities and room for further content, it’s best played with a gaggle of mates alongside you.
