Automatron manages to take everything that made Fallout 4 great and magnify it. The customization afforded by the robot building, the interesting new weapons, the mysterious adversary, and the hordes of mechanical enemies make for an enjoyable experience throughout that will last well beyond the final quest. It captivates the best of science-fiction while never deserting the core of the franchise that fans love.

The story quality in the quest line is great, but the adventuring feels short and hastily constructed. If what you want is simply a solid addition to the base game, particularly if you’re on console and can’t play with mods yet, then Automatron will surely spark your interest.

The robots are coming! Automatron is a wonderful addition to Fallout 4. It fits well into the universe, both thematically and story-wise. Too bad we can't erase our memory and start over from scratch.

Fun for at least a few hours, Automatron is a solid start to Fallout 4's stream of DLC. While it isn't quite substantial enough to satisfy those waiting for a proper expansion, there's still a surprising amount of depth to be found here thanks to the newly implemented robot crafting system. If you've been looking for an excuse to revisit the Commonwealth, there's no reason to ignore the call of the Mechanist.

Short but interesting DLC that adds some new and interesting features to the main game.

With Automatron Bethesda has shrewdly managed to zero in on one already compelling point of Fallout 4's experience, dropping in a new twist that solidly expands on that point in an interesting new way. As such, it's a perfect add-on for those either experiencing the wasteland for the first time or returning for a new play-through. It's simplistic and short story component means that it arguably doesn't have enough content to actually draw you back in on its own, and that's a shame, but if more Fallout 4 is on the cards for you already and you love customization, there's a strong argument for playing it with Automatron attached.

I don’t know what makes me angrier, that Automatron is a hollow and boring bit of DLC, or that it actually made me have to reinstall Fallout 4 on my PS4.

Bethesda was far too ambitious in their advertising for this game, because it seems these people that have no idea what Fallout even is refuse to leave. Expand

    Value for Money right here.

As a DLC Automation opens up a smallish dungeon and story (no more than a handful of hours) and the ability to build your own robot companion - which is as deep as the rest of FO4!

Don't see this DLC pack as meant to change the game entirely, but as someone that's wondering the wasteland some 700+ hours in, I find this DLC and the new mechanical gangs refreshing.

People complaining it's to easy are ... ???!!! THERE'S AN OPTION TO CHANGE DIFFICULTY, USE IT!!

Personally, I'm really pleased I bought the Season Pass the day I bought the game last year, this is just the beginning and FO4 is already a superb sandbox RPG now :)

Automatron starts with a Radio transmission coming from a Caravan pleading for help, where events transpire. Without spoiling anything, Automatron has an intriguing story with awesome and extensive Robot customization. The Robot customization allows you to mix and match robot parts, picture Mr. Potato Head but in Fallout with RoboCo and General Atomics Robots. For example you could have a Protectrons body, Mr. Handy thruster and Sentry Head and Assaultron arms with a rapid fire laser rifle on the left hand and a Shishkebab on the right. Automatron is a great start to the sets of upcoming DLCs in Fallout 4. Expand

This retails for £10.00 in my local game, so that is what I will base my score against. Automatron is basically a new quest line with the end game of confronting the Machinist. The DLC also introduces robot crafting elements and the ability to have new robot companions.

The quest line portion of the DLC lasts a couple of hours and is quite a good ride to be honest. There are a couple of new locations all seamlessly fit into the existing Fallout map. You will be fighting mostly against robots and a new faction which I will not spoil. Both of these adversaries offer unique loot and fighting patterns which was the best thing for me about this experience. On completion of the main quest, a new radiant quest is made available. The quest is well made, comes with plenty of new items and weapons and has a great branching storyline at the end.

The robot crafting element is half weapon mod and half pokemon. At the beginning of the quest storyline, you are given a robot workbench to build your own creations. New blueprints can be attained by defeating enemy robots in battle and collecting the parts they drop. The amount of combinations has a lot of potential. My current robot companion is far more combat ready than any of the base game characters. They do, however, lack personality and expanded back story missions.

This DLC is short, but sweet. The new weapons I am still using on my main character, along with the robot companion. The downsides are the length of the main storyline which is over too soon, and the fact that all robot blueprints can be unlocked on completion of the story, therefore rendering the radiant quest pointless aside from xp grinding. If you would like more Fallout, I recommend this. However, it will only last one sitting, unless you really like robots.

This DLC was nothing special but I had fun playing it. It basically offered a lot that the base game did and never blew my mind in anyway.
