While it won’t win huge awards, The Wheelman remains a fun game to experience. The saddest part of all is that Midway’s economic problems have clearly hampered the development of the game. It feels unfinished, unpolished and compressed into its simplest form. When you go to the store to buy it or rent it, just don’t expect to be blown away and it won’t hurt your feelings.

From random crashes to the dramatic, yet at times frustrating gameplay shift from previous titles, to the storyline that never quite reached the nexus it appeared to be heading toward, Tiberian Twilight is a disappointing finale for one of my favorite video game characters. Considering just how different this game is from the other Spiderman games out there, it’s easily the most recommendable to anyone who didn’t enjoy the previous two outings. While it never reaches the level Activision reached with Spiderman 2, it’s still an enjoyable romp while it lasts. With relatively smooth servers (patched and fixed after a rocky start) and great character customization, there’s a lot of fun to be had in the wide open and stunningly beautiful maps. The game is stunning, the sound is great … some aspects worked so well but then a few glaring flaws popped up. A few more months in development and this game would have received my highest praise. But this is still a very solid game to share with those young gamers close to your heart.

It’s a classic case of the poor video game/movie tie-in that fails to execute on almost every level, which is unfortunate since the Xbox 360/PS3 Avatar games turned out to be half decent. If you happen to have your own personal Avatar, have them suffer through this game and go play the other version yourself.
