    I appreciate Team Sonic’s effort to mix the old with the new, and there’s definitely some potential in the alter-ego mechanic. Unfortunately, they don’t blend especially well in Unleashed, an experience that had me alternately stoked to get to the next traditional level and a bit disappointed every time the sun went down.

    The Sonic-team has succeeded in developing an improvement upon the last Sonic-game on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Even then, Sonic Unleashed is a flawed game. The Hedgehog-levels are fast and fun, while the Werehog-levels offer a bit of a change to the classic Sonic-gameplay, although, unfortunately, it often comes down to mindless button bashing. Unleashed shows that Sonic isn’t dead and buried yet, but still leaves a lot to be desired.

    Sonic Unleashed is kind of a video game equation of sorts. If half the game is solid but far from perfect, and the other half is pitifully bland and repetitive, then the result equals an experience that ends up disappointing almost as much as impressing and entertaining.

    Despite the power of the blue Hedgehog, Sonic Unleashed never really impressed us. The game has its moments, but these moments are so rare and easily forgotten when you've reached the point where you almost throw your controller against the tv. The race levels are awesome, but with the heavy load of the uninspiring Werehog levels, those aren't even enough to give the game a sufficient grade.

    there is so mutch content in sonic unleashed. sonic colors and forces wish they had this mutch stuff.

    you wil learn to love the werehog stages it may take 15 minutes your first time but playing it once or twice you can do it in less then 5 sometimes. story is fun, gameplay is fun,

    Oh well sonic unleashed is soo goo it makes me wanna do a backflip 3 times and I feel great please sega I have hopes for more good sanyway I am glad unleashed exists and I'm happy for unleashed I highly recommend this masterpiece    … Expand

    This is a super ambitious game. There is so much passion thrown into this game. The daytime stages are fun to play and memorizing the bestThis is a super ambitious game. There is so much passion thrown into this game. The daytime stages are fun to play and memorizing the best paths to follow is so satisfying when returning to the stages! The Nighttime stages get a lot of flack, however there is a good amount of depth to the combat, like tapping and holding the attack buttons for different strengths in the attacks, a sheild and dodge roll mechanic, and the unleashed mode. Leveling up your combat is rewarding as it's fun to replay levels with new and stronger moves to destroy everything in your path.

    Yes, some of the latter levels drag on too long, especially Eggman Land, but overall the nighttime stages are a joy to play. I believe more traditional platforming can work along side the fast paced modern Sonic. Even the classics had moments of trafitional platforming Sonic is not just about going fast. And you can go fast as the Werehog, jumping while pulling yourself up to a ledge transfers your momentum into a kump, which can be comboed into other maneuvers. The amount of side content on display here is impressive as well. This game is long for a Sonic game, but it also feels very rewarding to play. The sun and moon medal gates are annoying, but just make sure you explore as much as possible. It doesn't excuse the pace breaking, but it can be mitigated if you take the time tk explore these vast levels.

    Overall, I love Sonic Unleashed, iI feel it was unfairly reviewed at launch, but has aged better than a lot of other Sonic games. It looks great, has an amazing soundtrack, a decent story that isn't too serious, but not too goofy, and so much effort and passion into bernging the world of Sonic Unleashed alive!    … Expand
