Ten years. That's what it took for a follow-up to the original American McGee's Alice to be born. A great day for the fans, who will immediately recognize the trashy-gore touch of the developer. They won't be disappointed by the singular atmosphere, which captures imagination right from the start of the game. But its terrible lack of polish and technical shortcomings may also frighten a lot of people. The fans will probably forgive those, but others may not.- Gameblog.fr

If you're a hardcore Street Fighter IV fan, you obviously have to purchase this Arcade Edition in order to enjoy the latest changes of your favorite game. But some details suggest that Capcom didn't really finish its job. It's a shame, even though their game remains a reference for the genre. For more casual fighters, the bugs and balance issues we're referring to won't be really apparent, but in order to save a little money, if they didn't already fell for the regular and Super editions, they'd be well advised to wait for the boxed version - because clearly, this DLC Arcade Edition remains a little expensive as is.- Gameblog.fr

As a resurrection of the dungeon crawler genre as it wants to appear, Hunted: The Demon's Forge just is another FPS without any real subtleties. It's a shame since its world is fine and action globally ok, but some camera issues, a poor story, some clunky gameplay and outdated production values clearly undermine the fun.- Gameblog.fr

It feels so good to see that in between the all-narrative, all-simulation or all-blockbuster experiences, alternate paths like Mizuguchi's Child of Eden, supported by a big name like Ubisoft, still exist. It's something that, much like Rez before, we'd recommend playing with a controller for the vibrations that intensify the thrill of the music and images, even though it works well with Kinect. The only downside is that it really short, even though its intensity makes up for it.- Gameblog.fr

Red Johnson's Chronicles is a nice and fresh adventure game. Its gameplay's varied, its story OK, and its universe is worth a shot. The only downfalls of Lexis Numérique's Game are to be a little too easy and some tiny shortcomings to get rid of for the sequel.- Gameblog.fr

As well executed as its console counterparts, Dead or Alive : Dimensions really is stunning, both technically and gameplay-wise. Too bad the 3D doesn't bring anything to the table, really, except some frame rate drops that the purists won't be able to handle. For the rest, it's the portable DoA you can't miss to enjoy dynamic combats and pretty lady fighters!- Gameblog.fr

16 years later, Dragon Quest VI finally gets released in our countries, as a portable remake with two screens and a beautiful 3D graphics overhaul. The game itself didn't change, which will please the purists but may also frighten the beginners... A lack of clear directions throughout the game, a crual save system and an impressive length can be daunting nowadays. Apart from that, the game is epic and it will delight all fans of J-RPG who likes gigantic maps, side quests and the challenge that may represent a class system somewhat "hostile. " Beginners are advised to start with Dragon Quest V, which is shorter and less dificult, before moving up to DQ6.- Gameblog.fr

inFAMOUS 2, as with its predecessor, shines mainly thanks to its thrilling action in a beautifully rendered open environment. Visually stunning, this new chapter in Cole's story would have gained much with more variety for its optional tasks, but it still offers to action-cravers a game that's dense, rich, quite loaded with stuff to do and more importantly really fun to play.- Gameblog.fr

Diving into this 3DS version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is proof enough of how much the original was ahead of its time, thirteen years ago. Today, with but a subtle graphical overhaul of its hero and game world, Ocarina of Time 3D manages to become a must-have of 2011. Even though you'll probably not experience the whole adventure with the 3D on, the touch interface, so comfortable for such a game, is a major enhancement of the comfort one has when diving in this epic tale blessed with a charm and some magic that seem, indeed, timeless.- Gameblog.fr

Rally fans will not be disappointed by DiRT 3. Visually impressive, superb, it offers many game modes, a friendly split-screen multiplayer, the famous Gymkhana events that require dexterity and self-control, direct YouTube videos... But beyond that, it is still quite conservative, especially in his driving sensations, between arcade and simulation. The cars seem to lack weight and the career is a bit confusing... At the end, it's quite difficult to really forget the excellent Colin McRae Dirt 2.- Gameblog.fr

CD Projekt is trying to impress us with a beautiful Witcher 2, deeper and more fun. Finally, we find here the same flaws and the same qualities as in the first episode. The incredibly difficult fights (in the first hours), the unnecessary extras and the bad interface could have ruined the game, but The Witcher 2 will eventually conquer RPG fans with its world, its characters, its atmosphere and incomparable scenario. It's the Empire Strikes Back of video games. I can't wait for The Witcher 3!- Gameblog.fr

Lume is a little point & click flash game whose strong suit remains mainly its artistic direction, with its handmade backgrounds, filmed in order to include the characters. This first chapter is rather simple : Lumi doesn't have power any more in his home, you need to restore it. It's really cute, but some puzzle really are too absurd. This results in some issues in terms of balancing. In the end, its also a little expensive.- Gameblog.fr

It's hard not to see flaws in this Fable III, which is less convincing in many areas than the previous one. Its inconsistent production values (sometimes beautifully executed, sometimes lacking a lot of polish), the over-simplification of some things that are sometimes not that efficient, the less than inspired bestiary : potential reproaches are numerous. But despite all those, Fable III, like it predecessors, remains so charming and mesmerizing that it works. The coop mode is a bliss (at last), and even though the "being King gameplay" is clearly underwhelming, one cannot be bored by this new Albion. Yes, Fable III could have been better polished and more ambitious, but it's still a game unlike any other.- Gameblog.fr

Loaded with shortcomings, not really generous in terms of content, Brink still remains an FPS with some really neat ideas, mostly in the way it promotes good teamplay. If you have several buddies with whom to share the experience, and take the time to organize your strategy, you won't be disappointed. But even so, the clear lack of polish, the not-so varied environments and average technical side prevent it from being an excellent FPS; it's only a good one.- Gameblog.fr

Good atmosphere, decent production values, a lot of content and humor, funny puzzles, well implemented platform sequences, light combat : that's a lot of pros to make Traveller's Tales' developers proud. Yes, LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean is a rather fun title. But when will this saga revise its basics and innovate? After the first gimmicky 3D visual effect wears off, you end up with a rushed out game which feels more like a tech demo than a real game that lives up to what you can expect from a 3DS. The story mode has too few missions, and shows in and of itself the overall lack of content and ambition of the game. And, neither the Battleship nor the Periscope modes can make up for it. The periscope sequences are the only element trying to make use of the gyroscope function of the console, but it turns out to be rather inefficient handling. All in all, we end up with a game that could have been released in the early DS days, certainly to a more impactful reception, at times where the stylus was still considered an innovation.- Gameblog.fr

Given its price, it's hard to criticize anything in Burn it All. But nonetheless, its drag and drop mechanic sometimes results in hiccups when the player has his finger on the screen, obfuscating the image, trying to move the flames with precision, and it doesn't offer the same precision and genius as Cut the Rope did. But beyond that, Burn it All is a great game with a very high challenge for completion-obsessed gamers, and for less than a dollar, it would be a crime not to play this very-well polished game.- Gameblog.fr

When compared to everything you can play in the FPS genre nowadays, Conduit 2's worth doesn't amount to much. But if you only have a Wii to play on, and are looking for some game of the genre, it still has some qualities, starting with its fairly comprehensive multiplayer. The campaign does its job, albeit barely, and its visual disparity still doesn't exclude some technical prowess. All in all, the overall is a little above average for gamers who are 100% on the Wii... but still well beneath the rest of the experiences you can find on other platforms.- Gameblog.fr

VT4 may be the most beautiful game of the genre, the most spectacular, thanks to the "Match Momentum" shots (even though they are less efficient in the game than on paper), but our favorite champions are not really playing Tennis. After an average Dragon Rising episode, Codemasters corrects a lot of shortcomings and delivers, this time around, a more convincing tactical FPS. If the basics remain the same, with a similar technical side and order system, large and open environments, etc. the AI behaviors have been enhanced. This makes Red River a game that is still difficult, but less frustrating, and more immersive. It's also an experience you'll want to share online. A title that's not for everyone, but one that will appeal to virtual soldiers thanks to a unique design.- Gameblog.fr

Keeping what's best in the saga, Mortal Kombat on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is a delicacy, both in terms of form and content. One can argue that its combat system is considerably less flexible and deep than those of its competitors, but is still offers some subtlety, and dynamic combats that are very fun to play. Without changing the basic principle mixing rythm game and strategy game, Patapon 3 introduces some new things and some tweaks that will appeal to both the newcomers and the others. With 4 characters rather than a mass of Patapons to control, and a revised progression system to go accordingly, the tactical aspect of the game ventures to new horizons, while remaining efficient. It's still a demanding game, sometimes unfairly difficult, but also more accessible (by displaying the rythm combos at the bottom of the screen) - a progress for some, a shortcoming for others. Islands of Wakfu, for a first game of Ankama Play, doesn't lack generosity, nor qualities. Its richness encompasses several gameplay mechanics, a lot of old school 2D games references, fresh ideas, and high production values with superb 2D visuals. Sadly, its gameplay is also far to rough on the edges, and more importantly hurt by a difficulty level that is poorly balanced. A lot of gamers will probably surrender before completing it because of that, a few will love to overcome those challenges, but all of them would have gained much by discovering such a title, if only it could have gotten rid of those shortcomings.- Gameblog.fr

Moon Diver is a game from another time. More a sibling of Strider 2, with whom it shares it creator Koichi Yotsui, than a successor, it has the same qualities. New elements like 4 player play and a magic system are thrown un a 90's design, both visually and gameplay-wise. So it's hard for it to feel like a 2011 game; which may very well be both its main strength and weakness. WWE All Stars is indeed much more of a caricature than Smackdown vs Raw is, but it's for the better: most of it is fun-oriented, the gameplay is dynamic and the return of old stars of the WWF is most definitely a plus. But if humor and grandeur were the orientation for the game, they could still have done more in that direction, like including crazy game modes, or an even simpler, immediately fun gameplay. With its 100% arcade gameplay, a steady and fast frame rate, and the 3D effect that really pushes the immersion further, and a lot of content, those who like the series can't miss this iteration, even though it remains a little repetitive in the long run.- Gameblog.fr

Cities in Motion is a game about the edification and management of public transportation in four major european cities. The management side is not so easy, and you will have to master the different elements of the game in order to avoid bankruptcy. In terms of creation, CiM could have been a little more enjoyable in terms of controls, and visuals. For 20 euros, it still can fulfill the needs of the fans, until a more ambitious titles arises.- Gameblog.fr

Trying to fill the expectations of the fans, Duodecim charms and offers even more features than the previous one. Some new things aren't that exceptional, though, and overall, we'd have hoped for more impactful innovations, but in the end, it's still a refreshing combat game, without any challenger in its style of play, gathering all the star characters of Final Fantasy in a visually stunning sequel.- Gameblog.fr

Aya Brea puts its origins to rest in order to provide a third person action title full of thrills, quite dynamic, and appealing. There's also blame to be passed, on the light and not really consistent story for example, a camera system that's not beyond reproach, and a short lifespan, but overall, it does succeed in providing excellent action.- Gameblog.fr

Shift 2 is full of wonders: a unique helmet camera view, immensely immersive, its full of races and cars to customize, it's extensive, visually splendid, and blessed with quite good physics... But sadly, all those pros are spoiled by really crippling shortcomings, preventing it to overcome the two references that are GT and Forza. An annoying AI that continually hits you for no reason, and this even more enraging latency in the steering dynamics. With those two defects corrected, EA would have delivered something truly outstanding.- Gameblog.fr

Combat of Giants : Dinosaurs 3D is all its title immediately suggests : a shoddy game. Even though it's quite likeable thanks to the dinosaurs-in-3D appeal, in termes of gameplay, we're drowning in the primitive soup of gameplay mechanics from which the video games emerged. It's so basic that if you may have fun the 5 first minutes, there's no way it might last beyond that.- Gameblog.fr

Rabbids 3D is a regular 2D platformer in all its classicism. It's so regular and average that it's quickly boring. Monotonous and poorly paced, it's far from being a total wreckage, sure, but it's really nothing to be remembered.- Gameblog.fr

The Reapers' invasion in Mass Effect 3 would have been a lot quicker without Shepard intervention in The Arrival DLC for ME2. This gap-bridging extension is very short, with a so-so story (a meteor with engines, didn't I see that somewhere already ?) and a focus on action, with quite a challenge at times. No interesting moral choice, nothing really fascinating in dialogues... Shepard does its inevitable job once again, and politicians will target him once more. Is that it? We could have done without it.- Gameblog.fr

Delivering its own story, within the original world of the movie, Rango mixes platforming, racing, and action. Rather nice looking and easy to play, the EA game clearly lacks substance, and provides less than 4 hours of gameplay. Hours during which one will easily get bored. It's a game that will probably be best suited for the really young, or really casual.- Gameblog.fr

Pretty, easy-to-play, content-rich, and often funny, LEGO Star Wars III has every trait of a good little game. Nothing out of the ordinary, though, but its concept works, and the variety of the action (mixing platforming and space combat) is refreshing. Its numerous levels deliver a good show in 3D, too bad its frame rate isn't always beyond reproach, that some effects seem to induce visual discomfort, and above all, that the franchise doesn't take much risks to surprise us.- Gameblog.fr

Splinter Cell 3D is a real disappointment on the Nintendo 3DS. Ugly, clumsy, far from being easy to handle and despite that without any sort of challenge, the Ubisoft title has but one quality remaining: being the first stealth-themed title on the 3DS. Is that enough to disregard its defects? Definitely not.- Gameblog.fr

Tomb Raider can't die! After years of erring ways, Lara succeeded in restoring its dignity thanks to the efforts of Crystal Dynamics. Of course, fans will be delighted to find in a single, low-price release the great episodes Anniversary and Underworld (Legend being a little behind), it's first and foremost to all adventure lovers that this trilogy will be appealing, with its substantial life (you can count more than 40 hours of gameplay in there). Lara succeeded in correcting its own shortcomings, and if the fans may disregard this compilation, maybe it's time for the others, those who broke up with Lara years ago, to try and spark their love anew... while we wait for a real reboot.- Gameblog.fr

EA changes its Sims franchise for the better: placed in a consistent universe, with a common goal, each hero of Sims Medieval finds itself in a right and logical spot (which was rarely the case with previous Sims titles). In the end, the Kingdom itself is the main character of the game, and even though the gameplay seems a little repetitive, the middle-ages charm, with a twist of humor and a lot to discover, works well.- Gameblog.fr

Ghost Recon Shadow Wars will not charm you at first glance because of its poor graphics and not-so-impressive 3D effect... But the first missions will be enough to really drag you into this very nice tactical game for hours. Despite a limited AI, the game offers a simple but solid gameplay, quite varied situations, and a consistent campaign (about 25-30 hours long). A bad game was bound to be released among all the launch titles of the 3DS. Asphalt 3D, even though its seems comprehensive on paper, can't make us stick to the 3D screen. Its production values are so poor, that it seems like it's been a rushed port from previous versions on low spec hardware. If you want to race in 3D with your 3DS, for the time being, favor Ridge Racer.- Gameblog.fr

The original concept of Super Monkey Ball 3D is still pleasant, that's for sure. However, it is impossible to play properly with both the motion gameplay and the 3D activated... PixelJunk Shooter 2 builds on the formula of its predecessor, with shooting, puzzles, traps, and a lot of various fluids to play with. Ghostbuster Sanctum of Slime is a small action coop title based on a single gameplay idea (monsters of a specific color can only be harmed by the same color). But its production value is poor, its story and atmosphere are dull, its levels very repetitive, and human players are mandatory since the AI can't keep up after 3 hours into the game. Here it is at last, the first Castlevania Lords of Shadows DLC ! Is it as good as it was expected ? Well, yes and no. "Yes", because it adds one new chapter to a game we loved, because it does so with classy comic book style cinematics, by offering us some very nice moments playing Laura, with her vampire special abilities and her mastery of thunder, and by giving us new puzzle to chew on, new action sequences to experience, new backgrounds... it even goes as far as to give us a little something more out of the story, shining a little more light on the ending of Lords of Shadow. But "no", because it remains super short with only 3 levels to clear, which are not that surprising, and very quick to complete (maybe an hour). So we're left hanging, with a very frustrating "to be continued". So, for 800 MP, we'd have hoped for more content, or more intensity.- Gameblog.fr

Almost perfect visually (depending on the platform), Crysis 2 delivers a solo campaign that is less spectacular than expected. It's not as easy as we'd hoped to dive into this New York atmosphere, hit by an ongoing catastrophe... Crytek didn't hook me, despite the intensity of the fights. The only thing we may grant this Back to the Future is its consistency in terms of mediocrity. Torchlight got successful on the PC thanks to its action RPG styled gameplay, and the lack of competition in the genre. These strengths remain in the XBLA version. Consider 3 retrogaming lovers (Pix'n Love Editions, PastaGames developers, and Bulky Pix publishers), cook them in the same pot, and the resulting delicacy will be Pix'n Love Rush on the iPhone. A true homage to oldschool platformers, the game has simple and diabolically precise controls. Heavily reliant on a carefully crafted level-design, its 2 modes (collect the bonuses, dodge the maluses in the first one, and a crazy time attack) may drive some players mad before they get to improve their skills, but its fun lies there. Angry Birds didn't become one of the most popular titles in the App Store for nothing. It's a very simple, physics-based formula, but it's a lot deeper than one might think. Strategic, rich thanks to the different types of birds to throw, blocks to shatter, and pigs to destroy in the process, Angry Birds may puzzle your brain a lot more than expected at first if you want to get all three stars for each level. A true Proust's Cookie of videogames, Secret of Mana is an absolute must-play of the iOS game library. Why ? Because everything that made it legendary in 1994 has been honored, and even improved in this version. Sure, the multiplayer was dropped, and the touch screen controls may bother some, but when you get beyond that, it's a wonder. To glide from sunup to sundown. Here's the simple, but attractive pitch of Tiny Wings, rising star of the App Store who kicked off Angry Birds from the number one slot of the charts. Its principle is ridiculously simple: press the screen, and your bird will gain momentum. As soon as you let go, it glides. But you'll have to time your presses well with the random hills of the backgrounds in order to go as fast and as far as you can, and to score as much points as possible. But even though those hills are never the same thanks to their randomized generation, it's still becoming repetitive sooner or later; which is the main shortcoming of the game. With some added features, play modes and ideas, it could have been far more magical.- Gameblog.fr
