One might feel tempted to mistake Freedom Planet for a copy of Sonic The Hedgehog but that would be tremendously unfair for this work from GalaxyTrail. Its fun and precise gameplay mechanics, along with a wide amount of content and very original levels will bring hours of 2D fun which will resonate particularly well with 16-bit platforming enthusiasts. Were the mixture between action and platforming be more balanced and the boss fights less burdensome on the player and this would become an instant landmark of indie games.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales on the Nintendo Switch is based on the card game known as Gwent, which is known to players of The Witcher 3 as a serious time-drainer. Any doubt about its purpose is quickly cast aside: Thronebreaker is addictive, involving and with its masterful plot, art style, soundtrack and mechanics that go well beyond a cards' game, this is the kind of spin-off that is always welcome.

What the Golf?, an unusual title for an unusual game. So unusual that it's hilarious, fun and addictive from one end to the other. In this golf (...sure?) game, it is simply impossible to suffer from boredom or from repetitiveness, thanks to its absolutely ludicrous levels, mechanics, creativity and structure. A real gem that should set a standard for others.

Bayonetta is back for another re-release of the original game but this gem hasn't lost any shine, as its gameplay remains impeccable and the Nintendo Switch treatment gives this version the added advantage of handheld gameplay and an improved performance. While the game would certainly benefit from some additional content, the experience is still as exquisite as ever.

Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition adds new elements to the original but does not try to to revolutionize the game. It doesn't need to, as it's already a fun, varied and compelling piece of work, which becomes more alluring thanks to the added handheld component of the Nintendo Switch.

Child of Light is a well-crafted action RPG that boasts some marvelous visuals and an outstanding soundtrack and matches them with an interesting, albeit not very varied combat system. The game may be over four years old by now but it certainly remains an RPG that can be easily recommended, even if its plot is not as involving as it should.

The return of Guitar Hero is a very welcome renovation of the series. Guitar Hero Live and its new television-like mode are a great help to the feeling of immersion and the design of the new guitar are great additions to a formula which was getting saturated. While the multiplayer mode could be more ambitious, Guitar Hero Live is a very recommended title for fans of music games.

With a world of neon-clad cyberpunk aesthetics, fast-paced action and an enthralling soundtrack, Sayonara Wild Hearts delivers a riveting experience that will make the player want so much more, as the game's only frustration derives from the short length of each level. Sayonara Wild Hearts demonstrates how a remarkable game does not need to borrow from the AAA formula of colossal worlds and hundred-hour gameplay experiences when something so bright and enveloping is enough.

World of Goo makes its arrival on the Nintendo Switch and almost ten years after its debut on the Wii, the game has not lost any of the quality that made it a reference for puzzle games. World of Goo's magnificent production values, where its rich visuals and remarkable soundtrack are key, its gameplay mechanics that follow the laws of physics and the amount of content make this a game that clearly stands out above its competitors, even in a segment as large as puzzle games made by indie developers.
