Miyazaki has found the best way to close the Dark Souls trilogy. In terms of gameplay, Dark Souls 3 has the same taste of the previous chapters, and is not as original and fresh as Bloodborne has been. A great number of improvements, still, refine the formula and create another impressive action RPG. Dark Souls 3 is infused with a cruel beauty; its world -assembled with pieces from Lordran and Yharnam and Boletaria - represents a place where any fan would love to wander.

Xenoblade Chronicles X was already a monumental game in the last decade, and yet the guys at Monolith Soft have managed to further elevate its quality. The reworked graphics have given us polygonal models that are finally expressive, harmonious in their movements and embellished with lighting that can bring out the details, while the quick reload and other small adjustments made to the combat system have definitively banished the annoying "spectator effect" that the product had inherited from the first Xenoblade Chronicles, ensuring this time that the user is always involved in the combat phases. Between new secondary missions, three additional playable characters, Skells never seen before and above all a rich portion of extra story, Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition represents an unmissable opportunity to return to the planet Mira or at least explore it for the first time.

In short, Donkey Kong Bananza arrives in dazzling form for its (highly anticipated) debut with gamers, once again demonstrating the extraordinary skill and fresh artistic vision of the creative team led by director Motokura, who previously rose to prominence with the splendid Super Mario Odyssey. It's an accessible product, yet also suitable for a more experienced audience, made essential by one of the best implementations of environmental destruction ever seen in a console game. Add to this a delightful and smile-inducing story, a solid and fun gameplay formula, and top-notch technical performance, and the resulting picture is that of a new shining gem in the Switch 2's game library.

Total War Warhammer is a another great success for Creative Assembly. The factions are extremely diversified and, although some beloved units are missing, the variety of strategies and playstyle is impressive. The RPG-Style hero management, the new flying units, the introduction of side quests and of a loot system: every feature intelligently expand the classic formula of Total War.

Today, as and more than then, Dead Space is an unmissable appointment for fans of the genre of reference and not only for those who loved the 2008 classic. Through careful interventions in every area of the experience, from the plot to the characters, up to specific playful elements and the pleasure of exploration, the guys from EA Motive have given us the best version of this cornerstone of videogame horror, further embellishing it with an audiovisual frame not without some uncertainty but of great value, which makes it even more disturbing the theater of horrors of USG Ishimura.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is undoubtedly one of the best puzzle games of this generation. Recommending it to fans of similar works would be extremely banal, which is why we suggest you put aside your prejudices about the genre and give an opportunity to an experience as crazy as it is ingenious for narrative, artistic and metatextual solutions. Although days have passed since our final session, the specter of Lorelei and the Laser Eyes will continue to haunt our thoughts for a long time.

If Alan Wake was an introspective, crepuscular and dreamlike thriller, Jesse Fayden's adventure adheres more decisively to the logic of genre, recovering (from House of Leaves as well as from the Area X Trilogy) a sprawling, obsessive narrative, in a strongly intimate and in any case allusive science fiction.

That Days Gone Remastered offers a great show in Unreal Engine is evident, but net of some graphic differences, such as the improved rendering of the night sections, we can also say the same of the original incarnation of the game. Without mincing words, the two versions of the open world adventure are certainly not identical but remain comparable. Having said this, Deacon fans might find the new Horde Assault mode interesting, which allows you to experience the highest gaming merits of the production in a few minutes, between hunting large groups of Freakers - now larger than ever! - roaring escapes on motorcycles and many main and support death tools to use in battle. Those who have always wanted to get closer to Days Gone and have not been able to do so until now, could seriously consider the offer of the remastered edition: it still offers the most valid and complete way to experience a great adventure of the PS4 era, set in an Oregon as rich in charm as it is lethal.

The impact of the new textures and a revised lighting system in almost every part allows you to appreciate the adventures of the Witcher par excellence like never before, with a cinematic cut made even more effective by the addition of Ray Tracing and with unprecedented fluidity choosing to opt for the performance mode. Wisely selected the mods produced by the community, and equally effective those created from scratch to rejuvenate the most obsolete mechanics of the original game, which now benefits from a fresher and more dynamic interaction system and a close-up view that favors immersion in the exploration and combat.

It was already a wonderful game to watch on the PlayStation 4, and on the PS5 it is even more flashy: the new version of Crash 4 is fluid and graphically razor-sharp, thanks to the 60 fps frame rate and the 4K resolution; however, the visual upgrade is not all-encompassing, and certainly does not distort the glance of the production. The update for the new Sony and Microsoft consoles, which - we remember - is free and supports the transfer of old gen saves, therefore fulfills its duty without overdoing it, limiting itself to maximizing the strengths of the technical sector. Too bad only for a rather lazy implementation of DualSense, whose features are not valued sufficiently: the use of haptic feedback and a more decisive use of adaptive triggers could in fact have given the experience a more distinctive touch.

Overall, therefore, the remasters of Nioh 1 and 2 boast a solid and satisfying performance profile, while not marking a clear step forward compared to the previous versions of the two titles, at least as regards the general performance of the graphics sector.
