It's exactly what Miyazaki and the rest of his team promised. A dark, sick universe where you'll be constantly spiraling. It has courage, as it takes the legacy of the Souls saga in a new direction, it has an unique Victorian style, and it has one of the most impressive settings ever, as Yharnam will really stick with you. It isn't perfect, maybe rough around some technical and online edges, but it's still the quintessential action RPG of the modern age.

With a bit of extra care – or better, with less focus on everything that's not combat and simply more triumphant action – Astral Chain could have been even a bigger bang. As it is, it's a superb exclusive and one of the best games of 2019: not bad for a completely new IP, one that in more than a way truly is PlatinumGames's magnum opus.

Killzone 2 is a rock solid First Person Shooter, developed with care and essential for the PS3 Line Up. It’s a peculiar title, realistic in the approach, dark and gloomy, conveying a strange perspective about war and obedience. The single player experience is linear and not that long, but the multiplayer is perfect, stressing a tactical aspect that is not so diffused in the other exponents of the genre.

Diablo 3 is a fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled, and funny game, contextualized in a setting that oozes charm from every pore. The title, pure action, not to be confused with an RPG, a genre with which it shares only few elements.

After more than 20 years Final Fantasy VII is back and powerful as the original version. Square Enix has decided to extend the story incorporating brand new sequences and a deepening of the plot with many more mature themes than the past. Unforgettable characters and a brand new, excellent combat system are the strengths of Final Fantasy VII Remake. An unmissable game both for old fans and new gamers.

Gears of War 3 is the perfect conclusion of an incredible saga. The core mechanics are just the same, but Epic Games delivers a splendid lesson in game design, creating a brilliant campaign, varied and well-paced as few others. Plus, you can find an enormous amount of cooperative and competitive options out of the box.

This Next-Gen version of EA's soccer simulator doesn't change its pace, displeasing the old time detractors. Still, FIFA 15 is a great improvement from last year edition, technically speaking and from a gameplay standpoint.

A carousel of horrors that never stops spinning. A whirlwind expedition into the most perverse meanders of art. A work of great authorship and visual virtuosity which has the merit of being as courageous as it is original. It's a survival horror, yes, but mostly pro forma. Deep down it's something else. It is an experience that tangles the player's expectations, continuously knotting them so that unpredictability reigns supreme. It plays with artistic forms, with the concept of reality and multidimensionality, and does so using both the interactive medium and other communicative means of the modern era. Once this unconventional inspiration has been accepted and assimilated, according to the writer, the weight of the playful uncertainties, of a balance that is not always perfect between narrative and gameplay, of a few too many technical ripples is reduced. I like the idea of rewarding experimentalism above all, the mix of genres and eclectic suggestions. I like Sam Lake's arrogance in wanting to leave his mark at all costs, with the careless desire to challenge conventions, more than he has ever done before. I like to think I live in a reality where Alan Wake 2 exists.

Peace Walker is one of the best PSP Games. Combining the stealth mechanics of a classic Metal Gear with the tactical improvements of the past portable chapter (Portable Ops), it delivers a great experience. If you add great story (probably better that Guns of the Patriot's one), you have the recipe for a masterpiece.

Since the first chapter, Life is Strange has been more a story than a videogame. There are some interesting turning of events in this final chapter, and some will make you think about the meaning of being the protagonist, or just a spectator. In the end, Dontnod has found a great way to end this great project.
