Max Payne 3 may not move the action genre forward, but it doesn't matter. It can be as retrogressive as it wants, as long as we are treated to well-written stories and fantastic action, starring one of the most interesting heroes in gaming. And then it doesn't matter if he shaved his head or not.

Datura is an interesting experiment in game design. Not quite sure whether it wants to be a piece of interactive art, or an adventure game, Datura stands on the fence in-between. Lofty, gorgeous and almost Lynchian in its narrative and exposition, it slightly fails at actually being a good game. Whether Datura will be judged as proof that games are art, or that arty games can be created, it's worth taking a look at, at least for its uniqueness.

With gunplay as clunky as Resident Evil 4 it manages to emulate Capcom's franchise quite well, and in pure chaos and weirdness, actually manages to outshine the latter attempts. Although I'm not a great fan of warfare in the 19th century, Creative Assembly succeeds in keeping Japan exotic and interesting in an era of modernization very familliar to us westerners. A monopoly style boardgame that does very little to make use of the interactive possibilites of the medium. The presentation is somewhat uninspired and although the basic formula is entertaining, the game never takes it to the next level.

SoulCalibur V fits the bill if you want a quick duel against a friend via the online or offline mode, but to be honest the unbalanced character roster, bugs and lazy design is offputting. Project Soul promised us so much more, but the end result is disappointing.

If I've ever heard of Zack Zero before reviewing it I must have forgotten all about it, which is actually not completely unplausible since this game is utterly forgettable. There is nothing terribly wrong with the platforming, puzzling and occasional fighting, it's just plain bland and predictable.

An attempt to bring a classic game to a new audience that early on looks like a solid and fun game, but after a while shows its not so polished design. What was addictive and challenging in the early 1980's does not fly today. The somewhat cluncky, unprecise controls and inconsistent difficulty level makes Choplifter HD a games that initially lifts off with confidence but crashes halfway through and never really gets some air beneath its rotors.

A unique, refreshing puzzle game that should ideally be consumed in small doses to avoid overdosing, as the game can become a bit tedious if played excessively. The puzzle designs go from easy to fiendish at a good pace, so as to never quite overwhelm and constantly challenge expectations.

Developer Yuke's celebrates the phrase "Going through the motions" with this loveless and utterly uninspired effort. Last-gen style graphics and a mind-numbingly tedious campaign beckons one serious question: Why?

There is plenty of enjoyment to be had with these four pinball tables and slightly different mechanics provide variety and make sure that everyone can find a favourite among them. Moon Knight is our favourite but all of them are good making this pack a near must-have for all fans of digital pinball out there.

BioWare always said they would have an emphasis on storytelling and on this account they are right on target. Thanks to excellent voiceovers and epic soundtrack even the most mundane quest feels important. Other aspects outside the story may need some work – UI needs a overhaul and the instancing of whole planets needs to go the way of the Dodo bird, when they have the load under control. Server queues, minor bugs and the above mentioned UI aside, the launch – of this easy to access and thrilling MMORPG – has gone relatively smoothly and I'll be following and playing this game a lot in coming months.

Winter Stars has high ambitions, but is terribly unpolished. If you've got the patience you'll find a few entertaining events, and the game is a rare try to make a serious sports game for Kinect.. Party gamers beware though, as the focus is set on the single-player mode.

The developers at Konami have learnt a few lessons last game and the result is better than the previous one. But there's still a lot of room for improvement. This isn't the ultimate portable football game, but it's okay.
