Aside from the confusing user interface and the quite ridiculous Jay-Z branding, there are no failures in NBA 2K13. Sure it's not very welcoming to new players and takes a while to get in to, but there is no doubt that EA hesitates to bring out a basketball game of their own when this simply beautiful, realistic and deep simulation of basketball is the competition.

Mugen Souls tries to take a few stabs at making fun of games such as Disgaea while itself committing the same atrocities – i.e. needless grinding, relying on stat maximization and an insane amount of battles. A tactical RPG at heart, filled with equal measures of gothic Lolita fetishizing and wicked humor, Mugen Souls is a quirky little gem that will satisfy the most hardcore number crunchers, while leaving the rest of us slightly bored after the first hours.

Way of the Samurai 4 places a lone samurai straight into the conflict between the local Shogunate, a British trade attaché and a local extremist faction near the end of the Edo era. Through five very busy days, the fate of a small town may be decided. What could have been an interesting period piece falls a bit short due to shallow combat, a reliance on repetition and relatively low production values.

Carrier Command: Gaea Mission manages to take a number of interesting features and turn them into a rather broken mess of incapacitated AI and extended waiting. Arkail, the most badass of Orcs accompanied by the Styx, the talkative, Tourette-stricken goblin is on a desperate quest to stop the human empire for eliminating their races. What I really like is that the action-focused role-playing game becomes more of a buddy movie with some really good set pieces and dialogue. Colin McRae once said 'if in doubt - flat out' and that's what DiRT Showdown is all about. It's not about playing nice, but rather to put the medal to the metal straight in to a concrete wall. The spirit of Colin McRae lives on in the games from Codemasters Racing and they have once again delivered an amazing racing experience.

TERA is a fantasy MMO-game that eschews the well worn concept of MMO-combat for something draws more inspiration from games like Devil May Cry and God of War than World of Warcraft. Visually stunning, though a bit heavy on the fan service side, TERA delivers fast paced combat and a rich world to conquer, either by force or through politics. All in all, an enjoyable experience.

Even though many aspects are just like Episode 1 and the introduction of Tails proved to be a very nice one indeed, there are a few pieces of the puzzle that are missing. Boss fights are horrendous, the music is as bad as in Sonic's 3D adventure and the new multiplayer mode does not offer much cooperation at all. Episode 2 is far from being a bad game, but not much greater than its predecessor.

Mario Tennis Open is surprisingly entertaining and the tennis mechanics entail more depth than what is apparent at first glance. The first four cups are ridiculously easy, but open up the Pro-mode where AI opponents are much harder, but Mario Tennis Open should be played against human opponents to lure out the most fun in arcade tennis.

A well-made conversion of the incredibly popular PC-game. The lack of features and modes is made up by a great interface, very good controls and the awesome possibility to play four player local co-op.

Burning Skies has many flaws, make no mistake about it. But despite all these flaws I've had quite a lot of fun with the game and I'll probably return to it many times, especially for the multiplayer.

After realizing that Warlock: Master of the Arcane is a strategy-title and not a Civilization-clone, I'm left with a well-crafted game about fantasy warfare. The game eases me in with a clear interface and then opens up a deep well of varied content to explore. Multiplayer is unfortunately missing, but the AI is a surprisingly competent opponent and if you like your 4X games to focus on strategy, you will find Warlock to be one of the top alternatives today.

If Milestone had chosen to make MUD either a full-fledged simulator or an arcade racer, toned down all the in-game advertising and gotten rid of the soundtrack, we could have had an entertaining game. But not even a level set in the Swedish city Uddevalla can save this mess from being a really bad game.

Lovely graphics and design makes this a standout Vita title, but the real greatness lies in how joyful the simple mechanics of shifting gravity and flying through the air are. Enjoying the wonderful city is easy with the powers of heroine Kat at your disposal, and Gravity Rush feels like a bigger experience than you should be able to keep in your pocket.

I always try to approach a new game with an open mind regardless of genre, developer, budget and so on. Sometimes you get positively surprised by a game when you don't have preconceptions. Iron Front: Liberation 1944 offers the complete opposite.

The basic concept is still there, an action packed RPG-light with a very real focus on fat loot. Compared to its predecessors, Diablo III has been streamlined to appeal to a modern day audience and has lost some if its customization in the process, but the different characters are diverse enough to satisfy most play styles. Some design choices – like obligatory connection to an overloaded and unstable Battle.net together with sometimes far between checkpoints and non-persistent game areas – may be in question but the overall experience is as solid as ever. Be prepared to invest some time to get access to the real goodies since playing on normal difficulty setting is not enough to get you the full monty.
