Overall, it feels skeletal and in need of more meat on its bones, more consistent pacing and a bit more mechanical complexity. Even the most inept puzzle solvers will breeze through Weakless in less than a handful of hours and its linear direction and puzzle design don’t leave much for additional playthroughs.

Whether or not you’ll enjoy the game is entirely dependent on how much you enjoy oddball humor and being surprised. In short, if the title Freaking Meatbags piqued your curiosity, trust that instinct and dig in.

God Mode is a game that’s fun for about an afternoon, if that. Because of how dull the game is, there’s no real incentive to play for long stretches of time.

Ultimately, I believe that The Fractured But Whole has a problem with quantity over quality. Ubisoft San Diego crammed the game with lots of things to see and do, most of it comes off as a result of someone repeatedly asking, “Hey, wouldn’t it be funny if we put this in?”

As a whole, Hector: Badge of Carnage is an amusing little game that would hold some appeal to those who enjoy crass humor and simplistic gameplay. However, the game's shtick gets old after awhile, the jokes getting tired as time goes on.

I'm looking forward to what Colorfiction will make next. They are talented in crafting interesting worlds, but they aimed a little too low this time around. I can see where they were going with 0N 0W, but it just doesn’t seem ambitious enough. I recommend the game to those who are looking for a bizarre, desolate experience that lacks any narrative depth.

A revitalized Frogger would have been awesome on the PSP, but failure to introduce variety to the gameplay dooms this one to mediocrity.

As a design doc, a game that combines horror, sci-fi and Norse mythology sounds intriguing but in actually, Apsulov just seems uncertain of its identity. With too much clunky action for a narrative driven walking simulator, and not enough combat to excel as an action game, it’s a lot of bits and pieces that don’t quite connect. The game has some ideas floating around but they’re too often drowned in a sea of over-used cliches, tired gaming tropes and creative cul de sacs that lead nowhere in particular.

Crazy Machines Elements is a solid puzzle game that lets you relive the glory days of playing Mouse Trap or perhaps discover for it the first time.

It's bound to happen sooner or later. Critical Hour serves up an uninspired gameplay and dull visuals, which had all the signs of a rushed title.

Modern point-and-click adventures like Thimbleweed Park and Irony Curtain had a healthy dose of self-irony that elevated them head and shoulders above the usual crop of retro-conscious adventures. VirtuaVerse comes off as smug and immature in comparison. Instead of post-modern awareness, the game is drenched in the old school it painstakingly recreates that holds it back from being a great adventure. True, it might have been a conscious design choice but a very stubborn one as games have evolved for a reason, even retro game attempts. While VirtuaVerse’s presentation certainly fits the bill, elsewhere the game is too dustily rooted in the illogical puzzles, weak writing, and thin characterization of the past.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered feels like a series of contradictions. It’s a remake of a popular online shooter without the “popular online” part. Its gameplay is aggressive, defensive, fragile, and bombastic all at the same time, constantly pushing you forward but requiring you to hang back. Its story values twists and turns over characters or any sort of sensibility, making the twists and turns lack any sort of value. If you’re coming to Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered simply to revisit a fondly remembered campaign updated for 2020’s visual standards, then Beenox has delivered in spades. But it’s a hard sell for anyone new to the series.

NBA Live 16 feels like a game that has a lot of good pieces but it’s still looking for its James, Bryant, Durant or Curry to help get it to the next level. Until they find it, NBA Live will continue to be a middle of the road game of basketball.

Poker Night 2 doesn’t have particularly deep pockets as far as original content goes, but considering its budget price you could spend your money on worse things. If you like poker and just want to fold some 2’s and 7’s there are definitely better games for you out there already.

Nerve is certainly a rollercoaster of an experience, more so than most titles. It is genuinely exhilarating when you fully master a level and move at top speed from the beginning to the end. However, the lengthy memorization process and saturation of visual effects made the lows exceedingly difficult to bear. The narrow focus on exclusively being a hardcore experience left me divided as I found it difficult to play for extended periods of time without getting overburdened by the fast flashing lights and unsatisfying, tedious practice phases. I can only recommend the game to those that are absolutely in love with the idea of a punishing, fast paced title with some of highest highs and lowest lows within the medium.

If you’re looking for something to turn on occasionally and give you a good brain tease, then you might be satisfied with Munin. If you’re looking for something you can sink your teeth into and walk away from with fond memories, I’m afraid that Munin is as ephemeral as feather on the wind.

Olija’s atmosphere is spot on and despite its huge pixels, the game manages to channel Hugo Pratt’s fabled Corto Maltese graphic novels that take place in similar exotic corners of the world. The gameplay also works most of the time, but as is often the case with indie games, the authoritarian developer has gone overboard. The less is usually more but here, the style simply went over the substance and 12 hours of playtime more than overstays its welcome considering the game's ultimately shallow bounty.

All in all, I enjoyed my time with Neon Chrome. It delivers the basics of why I like twin-stick shooters and adds its own mark with an emphasis on strategy and a cool cyberpunk theme. Granted, the game has a few shortcomings such as a non-existent story and sub-par graphics, as well as being rather short and having no online co-op, but if you're looking for something easy to pick up and play (especially with a friend) you could definitely do a lot worse!

Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood is such a schlocky, longwinded title that's complimentary for this schlocky "B-game." There's a potent stealth-action template and renowned universe to explore that — sadly — neither of said hopes are fully actualized here. That said, the valiant attempt deserves some credit. Should genre fans go in with modest expectations, perhaps they'll excitedly sink their teeth and claws into it.

I would recommend that to get the most out of the game in all areas, you should play it on another platform. The compromises of the Switch version can take away from a lot of the visual beauty and wonder, which is a big part of any game - I mean, you’re looking at the screen all the time. However, the Nintendo Switch version - while certainly rough around the edges - is still playable on the hybrid system. It’s worth keeping in mind the drawbacks mentioned in this review, but if you don’t have the option for another platform to play on, or are dead-set on playing the game with handheld as an option, then this is still a solid option for those players and is an RPG worth playing however you can.

You could kindly call Albion Online old-school or hardcore, which might appeal to gamers with a nostalgia for the days of corpse runs, griefing, and ganking. Less graciously, you could say it is repetitive, cynical, uninspired, and opaque. In truth, MMORPGs that survive their infancy often grow into very different games than they were at launch. Patches and player input often have a way of shaping a game for the better, and given time, Albion Online may evolve as well.
