There's nothing quite like Albion Online in the modern climate of MMOs, and frankly, it's a breath of fresh sandbox air.

Albion Online remains very motivating despite the large grind, thanks to the many and freely selectable options for character development.

Albion Online is a fun sandbox MMORPG with a clever progression mechanic and deep player-economy. The mid to late game grind and hardcore nature might turn away anyone looking for a more casual experience.

Albion Online, the brand new MMO PvP game, from the Berlin-based studio Sandbox Interactive, is portrayed as a sandbox MMO with a player-driven economy and robust PvP. However, it falls short on both its promise and entertainment value. With thousands of players online simultaneously, a huge landmass to explore, and plenty of room for Guild vs Guild combat, Albion Online has potential to be an outstanding experience — but this is yet to be the case.
  6. Albion Online is the best game to remember old school MMOs' and somehow the worst of the new ones.

You could kindly call Albion Online old-school or hardcore, which might appeal to gamers with a nostalgia for the days of corpse runs, griefing, and ganking. Less graciously, you could say it is repetitive, cynical, uninspired, and opaque. In truth, MMORPGs that survive their infancy often grow into very different games than they were at launch. Patches and player input often have a way of shaping a game for the better, and given time, Albion Online may evolve as well.

Usually i like to play more casual games, but Albion somehow has a special charm, that not many games have anymore nowadays, especially when it comes to MMOs. The game itself is quite hardcore and focuses more on fights between guilds. But that is also, why i feel more attached to this world than in other games.
The developers listen to the community alot and every update has improved the game and the stabilty more and more. Alot of the players from the early days have returned and are now fighting over the continent of Mercia.
If you like MMOs that are more hardcore check it out, maybe you will love it as much as i do!

The game is just kind of "meh". It's not necessarily a bad game, but it suffers from a lot of the same problems as other MMOs:

    1. Endgame PvP content is dominated by people using the exact same "meta" gear set ups, there is very little balance.
    2. Instead of making the later game more difficult, they mostly make it more of a grind. Literally, harvesting a higher tier tree takes significantly longer, for no apparent reason other than distinguishing it from lower tier trees.
    3. They didn't separate out servers by country/region, so a majority of the chat is not english, including important things you need to communicate.
    4. The movement set up on computer is goofy (there is no option to move using A-S-D-W, and instead you have to click everywhere).
    5. it is not entirely "pay to win", but if you really want to enjoy the game, you need the premium subscription, which is $15 a month. That's more per month than a lot of other, better MMOs charge.

So overall, there is nothing to really make this game "bad" or "terrible", it just missed so many opportunities to be better that there are better MMOs out there (ESO, FF14, Guild Wars, BDO, etc).

I'd say overall I got really into the grind building up spec for gear and gathering/fishing. Unfortunately SBI promotes a toxic player baseI'd say overall I got really into the grind building up spec for gear and gathering/fishing. Unfortunately SBI promotes a toxic player base and ganking which by the way doesn't require a ton of skill just 5v1 with stun, root, slow, silence etc. etc. If you make any sort of complaint the players will deny their own actions and say "it's just a game, get good, why you so mad bro? Quit crying." Typical toxic behavior from majority of the player base. If you made gathering and grinding players capable of fighting back fairly then sure this game would be legit. What's worse when I tried to address any of these issues on the official forums or during twitch tv live streams I would be banned almost immediately for "breaking the rules." Expand

This game is simply a box, with nothing in it - a ton of false promises and coupled with false marketing. This game makes any Archeage launch or fiasco look like the golden age of MMOs, which is saying something.

Stay away at all costs - worst product out in the MMO market.
