Inner Voices is overall marred a bit by certain design choices, but if you’re looking for a fresh horror experience that provides plenty of replayability, this title is an excellent choice. With its incredible atmosphere, one playthrough averaging around three to four hours, five different endings, and a price tag of $10, this is a game I can definitely recommend trying out.

Version favoritism aside, Corpse Party does a good enough job with the technology to deliver an interesting and thoroughly Japanese story of tragedy, murder, and the paranormal.

It’s again the broken record time. Grim Legends 2: Song of the Dark Swan is an amusement spent well and I so love these games where you’re not in a constant mortal danger. The strong start made me disappointed by the rest of the game which didn’t live up to the first promises. Luckily the bonus chapter saved the day. I’m pretty sure the best Artifex Mundi game is yet to be seen as an Xbox One conversion. Meanwhile, I keep playing these casual adventures with great pleasure.

The Consequence is entertaining. It’s not an introspective, philosophical mindbender; it’s campy fun. It has its flaws, but in a game where Claude Debussy’s “Claire De Lune” is mixed with Inception, buckets of blood, and a Victorian loveseat/black cat combo that acts as your save point, I can’t help but enjoy it.

Though it’s a little rough around the edges, Minoria delivers an experience that is mechanically satisfying, yet thematically depressing. The combat has its flaws but was engaging enough to keep me going throughout. Clocking in at around five hours, Minoria is a game that’s short and sweet. The story is a solemn and sad affair that takes a harsh look into the problems of religious overreach. Overall, I’d recommend Minoria to Metroidvania fans willing to overlook the occasional blemish.

As mentioned very early on in the review, Pokemon Battle Revolution was developed for the Pokemon faithful in mind, and although you can try battling through this game with little experience the game definitely favors the more knowledgeable.

In spite of its issues, I had a good time with High Noon Revolver. Not all aspects of its frustration-fun continuum are as thought out as they initially seem, but it succeeds where it needs to the most. It’s a high-octane reflex romp that makes short work of inattentive players, and once you’ve won, it coyly tempts you to do it again with a handicap. Better balancing and a tighter aesthetic focus would’ve resulted in something great, but what we’re left with is still pretty good.

As a package, Audio Trip lacks some elements that we’ve come to expect and that add depth and longevity to the game. While there are leaderboards and a local “party” mode, there is no campaign and relatively few modifiers to custom fit the experience or add specific challenges. Coupled with the game’s modest playlist, Audio Trip comes across as being a well executed concept that needs a bit more of everything — songs, modes, and modifiers to start with — to be really competitive in what has become a pretty crowded space with several outstanding games.

Farpoint has peaks and valleys. It’s a well-built, functional, and thoroughly competent first person shooter but it’s antiquated. The story is incredibly compelling until it stumbles like a drunk elephant until it collapses into a stupor via an unfair and undeserved cliffhanger. Speaking more positively, the VR is integrated really well and I appreciated that Impulse Gear refrained from making the player the center of the universe. With the exception of the habitat recordings, the camera never interrupts the game to grab you by the face and force you to look at something. It also doesn’t force mission critical assets to stay within your field of view. This creatures a more natural existence for the player, making them feel like they are part of the production. I came away from the game with a mixture of emotions but the one thing I feel confident about is Impulse Gear’s grasp on building a high quality game in a VR space. Farpoint is a pretty good start.

F1 2019 is a great game with solid presentation, smooth technical performance and tons of things to tinker with and drive through. However, it’s severely hurt by its moronic AI. Marrying more traditional video games sentiments to a simulation is always problematic. The thing is, Codemasters has no competition in the genre so there’s no outside pressure to improve on what they have been doing in the past. Emulating clean driving, especially from the AI’s side, isn’t impossible as Gran Turismo Sport did it in a very classy way. Maybe that’s something Codemasters should look into before rolling out F1 2020.

Put on your hats and boots, and groove to the beat - country style. Features same old karaoke gameplay, and nothing much else.

Games that hybridize several genres often suffer from a confused identity, but Medieval Kingdom Wars succeeds in fusing the grand and real-time strategy genres in a way that makes sense. The problem is, both modes lack the kind of sophistication that a single genre game might be expected to have. I wish it had a more compelling narrative and varied campaign and that each battle didn’t replay the same basic beats, but Medieval Kingdom Wars is both a reasonably successful proof of concept and should be of at least passing interest to both RTS fans and grand strategy gamers.

While the moody synth pop driving the action forward is exceptionally good, the graphics and the narrative design are modest to say the least. Still, they’re sufficient enough for what Time Recoil sets out to do. As most Finnish indie games do, Time Recoil finds a comfort zone in a playful side of things, toying with an idea and then making it a plausible game mechanic. Here it’s time that matters, making some levels play out more like puzzles. I was most glad to discover how tactical the game was, which in my books is more fun than mindless mayhem. As challenging as Time Recoil is, it’s a bit on a short side. It takes only about five hours to complete the story chapters but as mentioned, the time attack mode adds replayability. With all its quirks and polished gameplay, Time Recoil is a nifty little game to kill time with – or in this case to kill with time!

In the end, Death's Gambit is a solid 2D Souls clone that actually attempts to tell a direct story and provide the same challenge that fans are looking for. And it's just downright beautiful. Unfortunately, the gameplay is fairly shallow, with limited weapons and abilities. Death's Gambit can also be rather short if you are skilled at these types of games (I mean, I definitely grinded some levels). If you can't get enough of Souls action and are looking for your next challenge, you should definitely have your eye on Death's Gambit. If not, this is a title you can definitely save for a rainy day.

Though its bewitching world and stimulating combat are brought down by some counterintuitive mechanics, it’s still a provocative tale about fate and the human condition that left me contemplating what it really means to be part of a family, and the sacrifices we make for the sake of those we love.

This isn't a game for me, nor is it a game for most kids I think, but it isn't hard to see what Sony saw in Okabu. As a game, it's not much fun, and as an aesthetic piece of entertainment, it's neither here nor there. However, it continues a proud, understated tradition for the PSN: make non-violent games that champion color, intelligence, and goodwill amidst the sea of edgy-ness that our beloved medium is wont to overproduce. Now if only the game design had matched the script, we'd have another Flower on our hands.

If you loved Saints Row IV, you will love Gat out of Hell. There’s plenty of content here and even though much hasn’t changed, playing as Johnny Gat in Hell translates to a humorous adventure with exaggerated gameplay elements that only Saints Row can deliver.

Had they found a way to make the combat in the game more enjoyable this could have really been a force to be reckoned with.

Hell is Other Demons is a satisfying little game that manages to provide a quick dose of adrenaline on the go. The bite-sized levels make the game easy to pick up and play. With the challenging bosses, great loadout system, and heavy emphasis on replayability, the game has a lot going for it. It’s a shame that the repetitive nature of the core gameplay made it hard to maintain genuine interest. Regardless, Hell is Other Demons is definitely worth picking up for its addictive progression system as well as its highly enjoyable combat.

Overall, Where the Dead Lie, is a good introduction to what could possibly be an amazing experience.

Maxis milks the Sims franchise even further with the debut of pets, but misses the chance to add anything significant to the successful formula.

While there are new additions that make Super Mega Baseball 3 a worthwhile sequel, I hoped for more features – especially given its much higher price point. Just as its predecessors delivered, it’s a great game, but feels somewhat schizophrenic when you stack up what features have been added versus what has been passed on. There is a major emphasis on some inclusions that feel like they’d be more at home in a realistic baseball simulator, yet some very fundamental inclusions for an arcade baseball game are still absent.

Clearly, it is the fans who will get the most out of Tesla Effect. Designed specifically for them, they will appreciate seeing the gang back together for one more noir-fueled adventure.

Although it gets bogged down by some discomforting technical issues, Train Simulator 2013 is a game will appeal to a small but hungry niche gamers and hardcore trainspotters. The game offers hours of simulated railroading fun out of the box and the added Steam Workshop support means there's always something new to do.

In the end, Raiden V felt like a game that ticks all the right boxes for a Solid Shoot’em Up. It is not trying to be the most innovative game of the genre. It is only there to give you a solid gaming experience that you expect from a vertical scrolling, retro-flavored, bullet-hell game. Everything Raiden V has to offer is something you have already seen elsewhere, with some minor changes here and there. Overall, Raiden V is just another game in the long evolutionary process of Shoot’em Ups. If you’re looking for a casual and good vertical shooter to spend your time with, Raiden V is a good choice.

It's really a shame that such obvious and ostensibly easy-to-fix bugs are out there right now, because without them, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is an excellent entry into a monopolized subgenre that does things differently enough to be well worth a look. I feel pretty confident that a true fix will be realized eventually. As of a week a half after launch, though, this is a slightly busted version of a great game.

Juiced 2 is not the cream of the crop in terms of street racing games. It however is a game that fans of the genre should not overlook.

All the makings for a good show with a well-established cast, colorful action and good music are there, but with a hefty price tag. To pay hundred bucks for the collection, you really must ask yourself if you’re a fan enough to get something you might not entirely enjoy. I was on a fence myself, and it took the right tracks and the dancers to get into the groove. Then again, when the titles are bought individually, they cost a full game’s worth each so in that sense the collection is a better investment.

If you’re a fan of SHMUPs or action games and platformers, I think the titles are here to be worth your time but for fans of other genres, it’s probably worth holding out to see what future events Capcom plans to hold in this stadium.

Although a wider mix of genres would be welcome, Audica’s primary disappointment is that the musical tracks and laser pistol shooting seem more like parallel elements instead of perfectly integrated and complementary aspects of the game. There’s plenty of content and challenge in Audica, just not the same joyous highs and sensation of being inside the music that a few other VR music games provide.

Keep Killzone: Shadow Fall in mind if you’re looking for a multiplayer shooter that shows off what the system can actually do. If you’re one of those that are lacking the subscription to Playstation Plus, needed to access the multiplayer, then you will likely leave the game disappointed at a poor single player experience and you can do much, much better in the launch lineup than this.

As a drama about two people falling in and out of love, the script is an amalgam of every relationship ever presented on television and in film, so it is easily relatable if rather trite. If you like abstract puzzles framed around a grounded narrative, then Maquette does offer some value but I don’t see it leaving any long-lasting impressions.

MLB The Show 17 is still a great game of baseball but one that with each season seems less and less impressive compared to other sports games available. With a lack of competition, it's hard to not recommend. But with each year I'm still wanting to see the team at Sony San Diego push the envelope even if there isn't any competition to force their hand.

Chimera Squad is XCOM, despite the colorful shell and slightly less permanent mechanics. The turn-based structure changes for the better with the introduction of individual turns and smaller maps, leading to less overwatch shuffling around maps. However, it loses steam when it comes to mission variety and it literally fails at one of its core areas by way of bugs. Does this stop me from recommending this game, especially at its seemingly budget price point? No, not really. But I can tell you that I am going to wait for a few updates before diving back in, to see which team members I missed and whether or not I can actually hit that 90% shot this time.

Still an excellent game of golf. I am a huge fan of the new Legends of the Majors modes. It has a ton of content and is one of the better pick up and play modes in a sports game. Although not a major update, if you’re in the mood for more golf or may have missed a couple of Tiger Woods outings, this is a great one to jump back into.

There were many times in my playthrough of Hellpoint where I had the same delicious salad of feelings that I get with Dark Souls — frustration at my own carelessness, need to try again or satisfaction at besting a challenging encounter — but these highs were balanced by some disappointments with the design that seemed to intentionally frustrate. Even more than Nioh, The Surge, or Remnant, Hellpoint goes all in with the Dark Souls model. When it’s good, it’s great; when it’s not, it just reminds you why Dark Souls is and will be a classic.

Although it has an intriguing story that feels like a Greek mythology greatest hits collection, Argonus and the Gods of Stone impresses with a fresh setting and the transposition of the puzzle-adventure genre into the world of ancient gods and heroic characters. Playing through it can be frustrating at times, thanks to technical issues, an overall aimlessness and puzzles that are made challenging by their dependence on hard to find objects and an inconsistent interface. With a bit more polish, focus and quality of life enhancements, Argonus and the Gods of Stone would impress all the more.

The single player is solid but doesn’t try a ton of new things, and the multiplayer is brand new but has plenty of room to grow. God of War: Ascension is a very well put together game and one made for fans of the series who want to get their Kratos fix in while we wait for the next true successor in the franchise.

The Sojourn is a beautiful game with numerous extremely clever puzzles but it has a hard time balancing its story and difficulty curve. I honestly wish I liked this game more than I did. It has a lot going for it, but if I hadn’t been reviewing it, I would not have made it to the end. Though seemingly inspired by some of the best games ever, The Sojourn falters in its ambition. On the other hand, if you like first-person puzzle games and want to stare at something incredibly pretty for a while, you could do a lot worse than The Sojourn.

For the most part, however, Tormentum: Dark Sorrow is a game that succeeds at what it sets out to do. It doesn’t reinvent the point-and-click adventure game, but it doesn’t have to in order to tell its dark and gruesome story.

Ultimately, this makeshift Han Solo simulator isn’t as fun as it initially felt like. Graphics are superb, the music is just to die for and Juno is the kind of rough and raw heroine the gaming world really needs more – overall, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is a game I would like to love more. In the long run, though, the effort needed to pull off the revenge feels more tedious than it should.

Like many of the sports games I’ve reviewed this year, FIFA 21 is a very small step forward for the franchise. The on-pitch action has never been better and although I think career mode could use a lot more love and attention, the moment-to-moment gameplay is still as compelling as ever. It’s just a very difficult game to recommend if you have FIFA 20 and that’s really what it comes down to. If you have last year’s game, you really don’t need to go to FIFA 21 but if you missed it for whatever reason, then this is a great game to jump back into.

Insomnia: The Ark has an exceptionally cool premise and a very complex story to tell but the game that Mono Studio built to house its vision doesn’t always do a great job. It simply moves too slowly and lacks a central narrative drive. It’s burdened by combat that is both hardcore and limited, and by lots of smaller issues that add up to a bigger overall impression of messiness and missed opportunities.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries offers a lot of content, but not all of it is interesting, accessible or fun and much feels like its in need of some streamlining in the cause of playability. There are moments of intense and impressive action to be found, but they are bundled with obtuse mechanics and bland storytelling. Playing Mercenaries can feel both like a chore and slow-mo thrill ride.

Although it wants to be like Wii Sports and be enjoyable by yourself or with others, it just doesn't get that far. However at the same token, EA Playground when played with others is a really strong experience and it's use of the motion technology comes together very nicely and makes for an enjoyable game to play through.

Think what you will about SOCOM's change from a straight shooter to a tactical shooter on the PSP, but Tactical Strike manages the transition quite nicely.

While the hack and slash gameplay of each individual character is somewhat simple, the variance between each of the six is substantial, keeping things fairly fresh throughout the many runs. Additionally, skill trees and constant stat improvements grant a sense of empowerment and progression. It may not upheave the mechanical norms of roguelikes, but Children of Morta does a good job of weaving storytelling into the well-worn tropes of the genre to create something that feels unique.

Crying Sun is stylish, fast-paced and simple to play but its content runs thin and it can also be often unfair because of its high reliance on random factor. It may be true that half of everything is luck but in the long run, it doesn’t always turn into meaningful gameplay. The game would also need broader grasp on content and allow more creativity. Still, it’s a perfect pick-up-and-play title for its speedy gameplay that keeps each session nicely bite-sized.

Colour Bind is a difficult game. If you like solid puzzles and gameplay, or simply like chasing a challenge, it's an easy game to recommend, especially with extras like co-op and a level editor built in. For those without the drive to continually push forward, this is probably not the game for you.

If you’re playing singleplayer - which, until the update, you most often will be - then that’s how to best enjoy Hammerwatch; short bursts. It’s nice to sit down every now and then and just relax with something charming and humble. Yes, it will take weeks to complete its two six-hour campaigns this way, but every time you come back, you’re a little stronger, maybe a little faster, and definitely richer. In singleplayer, it’s a good game. In multiplayer, it’s something more. Keeping in mind that the PC version already has online multiplayer, I am confident that Crackshell are being honest about the forthcoming update. So if you're on the fence, at least keep an eye on this one.

Because the romantic destinies of Half Past Fate’s characters are preordained, and the game is essentially an exercise in making them happen, there is little motivation to experience the story again, other than perhaps chasing the game’s achievements. Half Past Fate has a lot of style, interesting characters and a gentle tone that stands out from other retro-style RPGs. Romantic comedy is an underrepresented genre in games and Half Past Fate reminds us that it’s a niche worth exploring.

Expectations are high for this sequel to the highly acclaimed ultra-realistic simulation shooter. Sadly it doesn't quite deliver, focussing instead on tiny changes to the overall formula.

Fans of the movie will enjoy the very detailed storyline invested into the game, and others will find the game to be quite challenging. It would make for a great rental for anyone looking for a nice difficult third person action game.

Despite the general low budget feel and repetitive gameplay, I enjoyed my time with Fate/Extella Link. The game provides a solid, streamlined experience worth playing for fans of the series, but beyond that, it’s hard to recommend. Though the game provides a slew of playable characters, there was little substantial variation between them. The shallow gameplay and subpar story leave much to be desired, but in the end, the game is still an enjoyable and satisfying hack and slash experience.

I did enjoy Squids and people should definitely check it out, but I don't think I can recommend that players purchase Squids on the PC. The pacing and length seem far more suited to its $2 app price tag rather than the $7 PC version. Still if you are like me and don't have an iOS or Android device, it's worth considering dropping some cash on this charming action RPG.

Deliver Us the Moon is a good-looking game with a solid story premise that doesn’t quite stick the final landing. It never strays far from many of the tried-and-true puzzle-adventure game mechanics (uncharitable people might call them cliches) that remind us we’re in a world with artificially created barriers for us to remove in order to progress. I appreciate that Deliver Us the Moon pulls from some of the dire headlines and concerns that are part of our lives today and suggests how they will resolve — or not.

With little more than a bare-bones premise, no engaging characters and stripped-down, stylized environments, Taur feels a little bloodless and abstract and the central gameplay loop can grow repetitive. In the short term — that is, some of the more manageable, bite-size battles — Taur is fun and full of the familiar, addictive elements that define the genre. Taur is also beset by some balance and pacing issues that suck the momentum out of the campaign. The game’s visual design and implementation of the player-controlled Prime Cannon add enough novelty to the tower defense formula to make Taur worth checking out for fans of the genre.

A good effort, an entertaining ride, a clone that’s different, but in none of the ways that it needs to be different. As an option for a system that doesn’t get the blissful torture of Trials HD or it’s sequel, it’s worth the money if you have that itch, but when put up against the best, it shows itself to be nothing more then a quality knock-off.

There is no doubt that Crysis was a landmark game in the history of first person shooters and some gamers had to take a pass at the time due to its high system specs. Much of what made Crysis fun and innovative still holds up, but it is disappointing that the Remaster does little more than selectively improve the visuals and make relatively minor changes to the controls. Crysis was amazing in 2006 and all shooter fans should play it at least once, but Crysis Remastered is hardly an essential purchase for shooter fans in 2020.

Overall, WRC 8 screams mediocrity in every turn, something akin to a budget title, but still it’s sold for a full price. It’s not a bad game by any means but not that great either. At its best, WRC 8 can be nice enough to hop into now and then but nice isn’t enough when there’s a superior rally racing game available. As of writing, there are four rally events left in the world championship so there’s still room to get excited whether Ott Tänak can keep up his top form or will Sébastien Ogier make a late-season comeback and continue his winning streak. In video games, the competition is already over, though, as WRC 8 has to settle for a distant second place behind DiRT Rally 2.0.

Unmechanical is a puzzle games that offers a pretty, but all too familiar experience of solving difficult puzzles in order to advance through a subterranean underworld. Easy and minimalistic controls make the game easy enough to pick up for gamers of any skill level, but some of the more complex puzzles may put them off or force them to seek out solutions. If it's a challenge you seek, Unmechanical will give it to you.

Pix the Cat is a fun action title that features some quick gameplay, catchy music, and a vivid art style.

Despite some of the shortcomings I found in the narrative and its inability to simply impress when it came to the conclusion of most cases, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory manages to hold its weight. It's saying something when compared to other RPGs in the fighting monster team genre. The true stars of the show are the digimon, as they indeed should be, and there’s enough zaniness in the rest of the game to keep you entertained throughout its long running time. There’s room for improvement, though, and should the developers choose to keep this side of Digimon series going, we could see something truly amazing in the future. As it stands now, Hacker’s Memory is not a bad way to hang out with some of my new favorite digital friends.

Soul Calibur V ultimately feels rushed. The modes are shadow of their normally robust nature, the character list has been reduced severely, and the net code is not as good as it should be. It seems like Namco was desperate to get in on the fighting game revival and rushed this out. I expect better from this series and with so many fantastic and cheaper fighting games out, such as King of Fighters XIII, Mortal Kombat 9, and even Soul Calibur IV, I cannot recommend the game to anyone but the most hardcore of Soul Calibur fans.

The nostalgia is strong in Generation Zero, both in and outside, and Avalanche Studios has more or less successfully bet on it. It worked for me even though I know it won’t necessarily work for everyone. Still, if you’re looking for something that does considerably less than most of those shiny games out there but at the same time has more integrity while doing so, Generation Zero might just be up your alley, although it’s a true niche title if there ever was one. To sum the game up, it’s like an 80’s Volvo; boxy but good.

Kim Swift will make amazing games for family audiences at Airtight Games. But as a watered down version of Portal with a forgettable world and gameplay that makes you pound your desk in fury, Quantum Conundrum is a step backward.

OlliOlli ultimately provided me a solid five hours of fun and frustration in equal measure, but I couldn’t help noting the areas in which the game still had ample room to grow.

Senran Kagura Estival Versus appeals to a very particular taste. Those who love fanservice and ecchi-rich anime will have a fantastic time as the girls fight and dilly dally on the beach. I do appreciate that the game made some changes to its design and presentation, making it a more animated and spirited game than Shinobi Versus. With a new dynamic camera, sexier transformations, and “interesting” finishers, and more robust playtime systems for the girls, the game knows its audience. Though the plot is lacking and the battles are often repetitive, such concerns are not going to stop fans from having some fun in the sun.

In the end, The Coma: Recut delivers a solid (albeit short) 2D horror experience. However, the game as a whole suffers a bit from being a one-hit wonder in the gameplay. After being chased 7-8 times in a row, the 9th time just doesn't scare you anymore. It changes the gameplay from a run and hide horror to here we go again monotony. The game's short length definitely helps enough that I can say if you enjoy these survival horror games with no fighting, and don't mind the repetitive gameplay, The Coma: Recut may be right up you alley.

Made possible by Kickstarter funding, The Station accomplishes what it set out to do; tell a story built on the foundations of progressive science fiction. The length might be an issue for some people but the journey to the finish line is what ultimately counts. An easy recommendation for those that appreciate the visual storytelling of games like Gone Home, The Stanley Parable and Dear Esther.

Overall Victorious Boxers: Revolution is a good game, worth a rental for sure, but more than that might not be the best choice.

It definitely overstays its welcome, and it's far from the best in the series, it's been so long since there was a Metroid game that it's nice to see it back here on the 3DS. I feel like they've built strong mechanics, which can hopefully serve a more varied and interesting quest in a future entry to the series, maybe one that DOESN'T involve doing the same fights over and over the entire game. Samus Returns is definitely a step up from the original Metroid 2, but it is unable to touch the heights of both the series and the genre.

Outside the career mode there are no significant improvements made to the game, though. The physics and the gameplay remain great and it feels like it’s even more important this time around to balance your rider with the right thumbstick of the controller, especially when landing jumps. When playing the game on PC, I couldn’t help but notice how the visuals drag behind the standards of modern gaming. Character models are the same as before and by each year they get more outdated. Landscapes look bland and boring and there are hardly any particle effects which would have helped to improve the feel of ripping through mud and gravel. Of course, it’s always great when a yearly iteration of a sports game has had courage to revamp its core experience. Granted, the new career mode allows long-lasting gameplay but it’s simply not fun to play anymore.

For anyone out there who are in dire need of a pure action Mech title for your PS2 you really can't go wrong with Transformers.

The game isn't perfect, but for anyone wanting to check out an arcade tennis title for the PS2 should definitely give this title a look.

Midway continues to impress with hard-hitting and fast-paced arcade football title, but goes a bit too far with their mature "reality" presentation.

The highs are very high. Conversely, the lows are quite low. For everyone else, your mileage may vary. Regardless, I did enjoy my time with Woodle Tree 2: Deluxe. It’s just a bit disappointing that there were so many technical issues on what could have otherwise been a pure expression of unbridled love for the genre.

The biggest problem with The Dungeon Of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet Of Chaos — aside from it desperately needing a ruthless editor to excise some of the weaker jokes — is that this approach to parodying the tropes of RPGs has been done many times over the years, and often better. The deliberate and sometimes genuinely challenging combat seems at odds with the tone and pace of the game, but The Dungeon Of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet Of Chaos can be entertaining for those with a high tolerance for unfiltered humor in indiscriminate quantities.

The single player isn’t anything to really spend to much time with but the online play is good enough to come back to over and over again.

Planet Diver is an unexpectedly ambitious title. A lesser developer would have been content with the simple concept of dodging rocks while hurtling along at nearly unmanageable speeds, but the team at Fabraz have expanded from that baseline admirably.

Undone by the clunky and unpolished on-foot missions. Star Fox: Assault is a missed opportunity for the developers to resurrect the series, which means you probably should give this a miss too.

At the end of the day, whether you would enjoy Shio or not is largely dependent on your preferences. It's a stunning and understated game that offers rather difficult but enjoyable platforming experience and a very cryptic story for you to crack. If that is exactly what you're looking for, then Shio shouldn't be missed.

While seeing Sonic on a Nintendo console is weird enough, this compilation will please the hedgehog's hardcore fans, while being a fun diversion for the masses.

Namco goes back to their roots and comes out with this classic, which retains its old-school playability, but sadly doesn't offer much in terms of variety.

In the end, Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for the Nintendo Wii is a good solid fighter that's not going to necessarily change anyone's mind on the series.

Racing purists may thumb their nose at it, but if you're the kind of person who prefers Burnout over Gran Turismo, you'll eat it right up.

If you're looking for a quirky old-school RPG, Romancing SaGa 2 is right up your alley. There's perhaps a reason it never got a release in the west until now; it's far from being a player-friendly. Many of the quirks that make Romancing SaGa 2 so special are things that many modern players aren't most likely to enjoy, so you must be sure what you're signing up for before you lead the Kingdom of Avalon to the glory.

More often than not, the game is an exercise in frustration, which unfortunately characterizes The Flame in the Flood most accurately: a promising, interesting survival game that is ultimately left to drown in the waters of mediocrity by its own core mechanics.

Dream Team‘s bright and friendly world is an easy one to fall in love with, but by the time you reach the end, that love will have been tested repeatedly by uneven design and a lack of narrative follow-through. Many of its flaws could be reduced to its strict following of the series’ formula without expanding on what makes it endearing. Much like Luigi’s dreams, AlphaDream’s latest is a little pre-occupied with expectations of Big Bro.

As an action game, it’s streamlined and not terribly deep, but the labyrinthine tower itself is an inspired setting and the premise of the game and its excellent execution are fresh enough to fill in the gaps when the combat starts to disappoint.

TT Isle of Man Ride on the Edge 2 is a big improvement over the previous game. KT Racing really went a mile to make it better in all fronts instead of giving a nominal upgrade and slapping a new number to the title. The driving physics feel good (and more forgiving), the sense of scope is much bigger with added racing locations, the presentation is professional and the revamped career mode has a terrific amount of content. If you want instant rewards from your racing game, however, this one is not for you as it takes a long-time engagement to be competitive. The game is certainly tough but it doesn’t take away from the fact that TT Isle of Man 2 stands among the best adaptations of riding a motorcycle in video games. Maybe in the next iteration we get more personality through more profound customization.

With the additions and improvements, you can actually enjoy slicing up a few of the enemies for a while and attempt to enjoy the story line.

Virtua Fighter 5 is a decent game that is certainly worth $15, I just don't think that people will continue to play it for long before they return to their preferred fighters.

Out of Ammo offers a nice blend of RTS and FPS mechanics that's pretty fun. The ability to take possession of friendly units and fight alongside AI soldiers is a cool trick that puts you in the middle of action. It's unfortunate that known technical issues with the PlayStation VR don't allow for the level of precision I came to rely on during the heat of combat. It's also a little dry, content wise, as Survival maps differ only in terrain and setting--you'll always fight the same units no matter which map you choose. I look forward to what version 2.0 and 3.0 might look like down the line.

Naval War: Arctic Circle will certainly be of interest to those hungry for a pure, military simulation experience. It may not be traditional real time strategy, but the intense focus on realism will most likely turn some heads. Its biggest barrier to entry, however, will be your level of patience. Naval War can be fun, but you're going to have to play it on its terms.

While I wish the extra modes were better and that the levels were more consistent, Mini Motor Racing X has earned an ongoing spot on my Switch. Even its longer levels only take a few minutes, making it an ideal game to jump in and out of for just a few minutes. The core racing feels great, I truly can’t remember the last time I enjoyed an overhead arcade racer so much. There are a lot of good racing games on the Switch, but none of them scratches quite the same itch that this one does. As long as you go into it knowing what to expect, I think you’ll have a great time.

Gundam Versus is a really interesting fighting game, if not a little barebones. There aren’t any overarching features or modes to keep you engaged. There is just an absolute slew of mobile suits, a very competent move set, and opportunities for some really engaging battles. It’s going to come down to how much you like the fighting system and whether you want to really get into the competitive scene. Sadly, the last couple of days, finding matches online has become a lot harder and if that doesn’t improve, you’re not left with much else. Fans of the long-running series might have enough here to keep them, but for average fighting fans, the market is just overcrowded with great alternatives to necessarily warrant a heartier recommendation.

Squishies doesn’t hurt for content, sporting about a hundred levels and all the collectibles to grab on the way. I enjoyed the game the most when played for a short period of time and avoid burnout by playing for long stretches of time. Still, if you’re looking for some good, solid puzzle fun on the PlayStation VR, Squishies has a lot to offer. And the map editor is nearly worth the price of admission alone for its content creation and 3D art potential. It’s not going to blow the roof off the genre by any means, though it’s one of the better puzzle experiences on the platform.
