While waiting for the game, I didn’t realise how close to home it will hit. Lockdown here, lockdown there. I like immersion but this is too much. Fun experience though. [06/2020, p.72]

Deadline is worse than its predecessor in every aspect and finally it wore mi down with its insubordinate camera and terrible interface. [10/2015, p.61]

The feisty, distinct series was transformed into another run-of-the-mill sandbox game. New Saints Row is painfully unremarkable. The gameplay is pretty fun but repetitive and formulaic. The city – large but bland. The chaos – still present but kept on a short leash. As to the new characters, Volition must have recruited this grotesque, random gang in front of a Starbucks. What’s more, the AI is terrible and the whole game desperately needs patches.

Friday the 13th does not overflow with content, but is rich enough to generate varied memories (unlike Dead by Daylight, another example of asymmetrical multiplayer). What it needs to become a truly worthwhile game is some more polish. [08/2017, p.76]

A really decent game that can keep you playing for a few afternoons. Unfortunately limitations imposed by its low budget are evident. [CD-Action 13/2012, p.58]

The developers have made a huge step forward since their previous work, Lust for Darkness, and delivered an ambitious game that is better in every aspect. There’s still plenty of room for improvement, but engaging story and disturbing atmosphere make Lust from Beyond worth your time. If you can stomach an erotic horror with some twisted imagery, that is. [05/2021, p.42]

The worst thing about Into the Stars is overwhelming boredom that makes you look for something more interesting on the ceiling. You’ll have much more fun playing FTL once again or hunting pirates in Elite Dangerous. [05/2016, p.67]

Hellbound offers some old school fun if you enjoy putting your aim and reflexes to the test. It’s a shame the developers stopped at seven levels, one boss fight, a handful of monsters, and six weapons (of which two are useless and some lack an alternative fire mode). What would have been merely a first episode in a 90’s shooter, pretends to be a whole campaign in Hellbound. If you’re experienced with the genre, you’ll finish the game in around two hours. An interesting, quite easy and simple survival game that puts emphasis on atmosphere, storytelling and decision-making rather than action. Overall, it’s like a dish with too little salt in it, not amazing, but still tasty. [07/2021, p.52]

Gameplay-wise Fahrenheit aged awfully and Aspyr did next to nothing to at least make it look decently. No one in our office could tell the difference between the original game and the remastered version (apart from widescreen modes). [04/2015, p.64]

It seems that the vision of a perfect, expansive game merging features of an FPS and a nonlinear RPG just outgrew the capabilities of a small studio. To start the adventure you'll first have to face one of the most inconvenient and ugly user interfaces I've ever seen. Then you have to create a character without a decent explanation of the game's RPG system, so you can end up with one that doesn't suite the playing style that E.Y.E quickly forces you to adopt. You can easily lose track of the story because the game fails to present it properly. Shooting works fine but the enemy AI sadly doesn't and Source engine delivers outdated visuals. [Sept 2011, p.70]

The game is pleasant to look at but quickly became tedious and repetitive (even though it’s short – took me less than 4 hours to complete). There’s no challenge in it either – the enemies grow stronger, but the hero does that faster due to the character development system and new weapons. [CD-Action 06/2013, p.64]

Broken Roads is narratively competent, philosophically aware and relatively complex in terms of dialogues, while the moral compass mechanic stimulates the player intellectually. However, all the other elements of the game are not as exciting (or even solid) and gameplay is marred by bugs.

I marveled at the beauty of some new landscapes, but I will remember Curse of Osiris as a string of disappointments. Dumb story, few new features, endless grind, poorly balanced difficulty, awfully lame final encounter. [02/2018, p.49]

I feel Skully had huge potential but due to the overall low quality (dated visuals, samey levels, poor voice acting, terrible camera) I can’t recommend it. If you choose to play it for the story (which is actually quite good), remember to use a gamepad, because keyboard and mouse controls are horrible. [10/2020, p.71]

I was delighted with Darksburg when I played it’s early build at Gamescom 2019. I don’t know what happened, but since then it has become a mere shadow of itself. Darksburg’s gameplay definitely has considerable potential, but the game is annoying more often than satisfying, and there’s not enough content to keep you playing longer than a couple hours. Scathe is a mess. Constant lack of ammo forces you to use the base weapon (which is painful the more so that some guns are really fun), heavy backtracking is extremely frustrating, enemies respawning in previously cleared areas are annoying, and the overall repetitiveness will wear you down unless the soundtrack will put you to sleep first.
