It seems id Software is still living in its golden days and failed to notice that times have changed since Doom and Quake. Rage is just a decent, linear, old school shooter combined awkwardly with an arcade racing game. The world is only 'kinda openish' and the story must have been written by the coders while they were compiling the alpha version. The game looks great though – if you're lucky enough to have the it run smoothly and without technical issues that haunt the PC version. [November 2011, p.46]

It’s a fantastic game in itself but its best parts are the ones that reiterate the features known from last year’s Resident Evil 2 remake. [05/2020, p.56]

Eldest Souls’ difficulty level is so overwhelming even soulslike veterans will feel unsure of their skills. The developers boiled the game down to its essence, which is killing enemies, while the story and exploration were relegated to the background. As a result, the narrative tying boss encounters together is rather shallow. [10/2021, p.34]

Technically this port is so impressive that sometimes it’s hard to believe it actually exists. It’s the game itself that I have some issues with, as in my opinion its campaign is encumbered by elements that sometimes unnecessarily slow down Doom’s fantastic pace. [01/2018, p.53]

The Enemy Within is less unpleasant than Guardians of the Galaxy or Minecraft: Story Mode in the same way catching a cold is less unpleasant than getting a full-blown flu. [06/2018, p.48]

Semblance’s ace up the sleeve and key mechanic is the ability to deform environment, and in my opinion it does not work ideally in a puzzle game. I often felt like I was cheating, as if I forced a cubic block into a round hole in a kids’ shape sorter, and it fit, because it was flexible enough. This feeling often robbed me of satisfaction one should derive from solving a puzzle. [10/2018, p.50]

Kirby Air Riders pleasantly surprises with its excellent controls and the developers' creative approach to track design. It's impossible to get bored here, and thanks to the many great game modes, everyone should find something for themselves.

While the VR Horizon is targeted mainly at the fans of the series, I believe others too will enjoy the game’s large world, great close encounters with machines, fun archery, and a number of other activities that highlight PS VR2’s capabilities.

Despite simple, painfully dull dungeon designs and PS3 era graphics, it’s one of the best Tales games in years. The story is really sound, the combat system is solid and interesting, difficulty levels are properly balanced at last, character development and crafting are addictive and players are introduced into the world at a perfect pace. Easy puzzles resemble irrational conundrums from old point’n’click games and are accompanied by pop-cultural references and absurd humor. Turn a blind eye to subpar visuals and treat this game as a fun, undemanding break from serious titles. [03/2014, p.68]

To truly enjoy this variation on parkour sprinkled with some Portal madness, you need to be a bit of a masochist. If you relish overcoming your weakness and don’t mind dying dozens of times in a single level, you’ll find plenty of fun in Impulsion’s exceptionally fluid, simple yet deep gameplay. [10/2018, p.60]

Shin chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation is easy to fall in love with and difficult to forget. After all these years Bournout Paradise is still an amazing game with an exceptional sense of speed and some very clever design ideas. It’s not easy for me to understand why Electronic Arts chose Need for Speed over Burnout. [05/2018, p.69]

Judgment shows that the People Can Fly team knows its way around triple-A titles. They managed to squeeze a lot out of Unreal Engine 3 – the game looks great even compared to Crysis 3, which set new standards in terms of visuals, also on consoles. And when the technology restrained them, they creatively found a way around limitations. [CD-Action 05/2013, p.60]

One could think that a game that makes you cut down trees, shatter rocks and cook meals will get boring quickly, but it’s not the case with Don’t Starve. Each time you start in a freshly generated world and time and again encounter new things, monsters and events. Even after writing this review I’m convinced there’s still a lot for me to experience in Klei’s new game. [CD-Action 07/2013, p.60]

Road 96 tries to strike the right balance between randomization and the emphasis on the story and kind of succeeds at that, but fails in many other aspects, e.g. there’s no challenge here at all and your actions lack actual consequences. I was also unable to get through the new game+ without the impression that I had already experienced most of the events during my initial playthrough. [11/2021, p.44]

It could have been a relaxing game about playing golf on the ruins of our civilization, but its whole sporting aspect is subpar (due to poor physics, among others), sometimes frustrating, and makes it harder to appreciate the story. However, Golf Club: Wasteland definitely has its unique flavor and the in-game radio station is fantastic. [12/2021, p.67]

After you get used to some crudeness related to the fact that the original is 28 years old, you’ll notice that is hasn’t aged that much. What’s more, visuals were revamped so skillfully that The Dragon’s Trap is one of the prettiest games released this year. [06/2017, p.54]
