An exciting idea and a great execution. The joy of watching vegetation regrow successfully replaces the satisfaction of seeing your metropolis thrive in traditional city builders. Terra Nil is a pretty and rewarding game with a valuable message and it’s a pity it offers nothing besides the campaign that left me with overwhelming feeling of emptiness.

ETS2 has its shortcomings – there's no visual representation of truck's damage, no snow and ice, cities are laughably small – but if you like to rest while watching the road unravel before your eyes, you won't find a better game. [CD-Action 13/2012, p.70]

Set during World War I and dripping with darkness, Conscript can be frustrating sometimes but its atmosphere, boosted by an excellent soundtrack, makes it worth the time spent. This old-school survival horror is a true gem that should satisfy everyone interested in war-themed titles and keen on flexing mental muscles.

I’m highly impressed with Ironoak Games’ debut. If you’re ready for a long and painful (the difficulty level is so high!) but immensely satisfying wander across colorful fantasy realms, do not delay and buy this wonderful roguelike. [07/2018, p.48]

As a highly addictive beat ‘em up and a great trip down the 16-bit memory lane, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World definitely deserved a chance to shine on new platforms. For a couple of days I was pretty much unable to put my Switch down. [03/2021, p.47]

Kaze and the Wild Masks will make every fan of classic platformers feel right at home. It borrows the best elements from the legends of the genre, but never feels like a cheap copy. It doesn’t try to be innovative, but it looks great, delivers fun in spades and never gets dull, as literally every level has something new to show you. [05/2021, p.62]

The Fractured but Whole might be a better game (mainly thanks to significantly improved combat) but The Stick of Truth was a better South Park by a long shot. The Stick was brimming with humor and creativity (remember the 8-bit Canada?), this one is a forced compilation of jokes that are mostly either lazily rehashed (City Wok’s owner mispronouncing words, they took our jobs, poof! It’s gone and many, many more) or shallow. Where’s the show’s brilliant satire!? I’m not just disappointed by the fact that Parker and Stone botched this. As a die-hard fan of the show I’m simply embarrassed. [13/2017, p.46]

Pathologic 3 is a beautifully designed, thought-provoking production that experiments with its own form. The narrative and gameplay form a harmonious whole, offering an experience that is both fundamentally different and very similar to the previous installments in the series.

After a slow, boring start Fall of Cybertron turned out to be solid and varied. You have to give it a chance and see a couple of robots in action to fully appreciate what at first seems to be just another simple shooter. [10/2012, p.60]

A good fighting game with solid, original mechanics and impressive visuals. When I tried to come up with some similar titles, I thought of Psychic Force or Senko No Ronde rather than Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. In other words, it’s a rather niche game that would probably go unnoticed without the Pokémon license. [13/2017, p.58]

It would have been nice if the developers could decide what game they want to make. On one hand, we have a failed attempt to tell an engaging story. On the other hand, series of puzzles would benefit from a higher difficulty level. Valiant Hearts is disappointing, but still not bad. [Sept 2014, p.56]

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II offers excellent, perfectly toned-down multiplayer that – unlike the previous games in the series – requires good but not superhuman reflexes. Guns feel better than ever and the extremely dynamic, huge Ground War is a great mode for a Battlefield fan. Modern Warfare II is simply the best online shooter available. What’s more, the single player campaign is outstanding too. Missions in its second half might disappoint those who expect to have their finger on the trigger all the time, but amazing graphics and some really cool assignments make bearing with those gameplay experiments worth it.

A barely interactive horror film about typical American teenagers. You know, with a cabin. In the woods. And a psychopath. We’ve all seen that, we’ve heard these dialogues, we all know these characters. Still Until Dawn has a pretty good story and is a nice homage to horror flicks and despite being a collection of simple QTE’s can both engage and surprise. [11/2015, p.44]

In a nutshell: as a researcher, you travel to various places, interact with wild Pokémon and take photos to document their behavior. This simple concept only works thanks to the Pokémon, but it doesn’t have to be a drawback, because the game shows the world of pocket monsters more realistically and vividly than any title before it. Cultic borrows heavily from grandpa Blood, but is a step backwards compared to Monolith’s cult classic. Admittedly, all available guns are fun to use, but even though the game is short, it still overstays its welcome due to bloated, boring environments and repetitive enemies.
