Invincible VS is an intense, fun, and deep fighting game. It takes risks and makes choices that set it apart from the genre’s conventions, which makes it stand out at the controls. However, it lacks intuitive controls and sufficient single-player content at launch.

MotoGP 26 is a clear step forward for the series. It is not revolutionary, and some modes still need more depth, but Milestone has improved what matters most: the riding. Better physics, more intuitive handling, stronger wet-weather racing and dynamic climate make it far more enjoyable than last year’s game. [Recommended]

If you liked Returnal, I’m sure you’ll love Saros too. It is a very similar experience, so it doesn't have that same element of surprise anymore, but it is much more fast-paced, "on steroids", and filled with smart design choices that give it better balance and flow.

Pokémon needed a separate, dedicated platform to manage its competitive scene, and Champions is the answer we’ve been demanding for years. It’s a fantastic world—easily one of the most thrilling experiences when it comes to turn-based combat. From a design perspective, it delivers where it truly matters; however, it also carries inexcusable technical issues and certain rough edges that make building a top-tier competitive team more of a chore than it should be. Tomodachi Life on Switch is the most batshit thing Nintendo has ever pulled off. A game that checks every box for being the most controversial, cancellable experience imaginable — and it comes from the most buttoned-up, straight-laced company in the industry. On a mission to drag out the humor lurking in the darkest corner of your brain, this social life sim manages to bring out the worst in all of us just to deliver the best: the hardest belly laugh you'll ever crack while playing a video game. Despite a lack of major innovations, Midnight leans on the great legacy of the Warcraft universe to create a game that is enjoyable from start to finish. Mouse: P.I. for Hire had a strong premise back when it was just a viral tech demo, yet it far exceeded our expectations by the time we got our hands on it. It's your average boomer-shooter with almost the exact same arsenal as Doom, except its level design is as charming and imaginative as its bosses, the performance is superb and there's just so much genuine well-doing in every little nod an piece of animation. If you're a hardcore quick-swapping speedrunner you might find it a bit 'meh' but other than that you will love it like it's a friend. [Recommended]

Legacy of Kain: Ascendance is a strange game that, honestly, I’ll remember more for its controversial story than for what it brought to the table in terms of gameplay. It’s clear the title serves as a bridge to try and revive the franchise, and adapting the events of the Dead Shall Rise comic is an interesting choice to explore Raziel's long-awaited vampiric past. However, as a game, it feels underwhelming. It features a 2D action-platforming mix that is far too simple and suffers from repetitive environments, even with the addition of three playable characters. It’s not a bad game, but it reminds me of those classic 90s movie tie-ins: attractive because of the license, but lacking any real inspiration in their design.

Super Meat Boy 3D is surprisingly consistent with the 2010 release, with the leap to 3D being its major new feature. While this causes it to lose some of its original brilliance, it still delivers a solid experience. The control precision is insane, the levels are incredibly varied, and it still manages to make us die 100 times without feeling frustrated. Some levels suffer from camera issues and the final stretch might be less engaging, but even so, it’s one of the best platformers I’ve played in a long time. [Recommended]

Darwin's Paradox is one of those games that, without reinventing the wheel, knows exactly how to play its cards right. Greedfall: The Dying World is one of those games that demands patience and a lot of willpower on your part. Spiders has tried to bite off more than they could chew, creating a title with an incredibly slow start and tactical combat that never quite clicked with me. I miss the 'immersive sim' identity of the first game; here, they’ve opted for something more conventional, coupled with optimization issues and bugs that can really break the immersion. Yet, despite all that, I can't deny that the world is well-built. It has that classic RPG charm, reminiscent of Dragon Age: Origins, where you can get lost in its cities, talk to your companions, and soak in its political nuances.

Divisive as it might be, Marathon is an incredibly polished product that ultimately brings the genre into maturity thanks to its ideally sized maps, flexible matchmaking, deep and satisfying combat and (perhaps most importantly) rich endgame system full of both short term and long term goals for the whole season. Honestly, I don't fully understand what the developers of 1348 Ex Voto were trying to achieve with their game. It seems more concerned with telling a story—one that ultimately doesn't work—than with creating a fun game. Visually, it's very well done, but the numerous minor graphical glitches, its dizzying camera work, and its clunky, unpolished gameplay mean it doesn't stand out in that regard either. The progression systems are mere window dressing with minimal impact on gameplay, and its length is excessively short, even for the genre it belongs to. Except for the most curious, it’s not a game worthy of much attention. [No recommended]
