One point for the one joke they made that didnt have me sighing. Just watched it for the first time. And i wish I had saved my time. Dialogue is terrible, plot is contrived and i couldnt wait for it to be over. TPM and ROTS werent great butOne point for the one joke they made that didnt have me sighing. TPM and ROTS werent great but at least the end lightsabers battles saved. Every lightsaber fight in this movie is terrible. It all looked to inflexible robots clashing with pipes. There was literally.a scene where Rey screamed at Ben, and he literally shuddered then jumped through a hole like a cartoon. Never written a movie review before but this was so bad i had to express my disappointment in one way before i got to watch other reviews to dump on it.… Expand

I think that this film has no respect to old Star Wars characters like Look, Anakin and Obi-Wan. I think like that because all the jedis can't defeat the dark side except Look. (We learned that he can not defeat the darkside in the 7. movie) And a girl who has only few years of jedi education can kill defeat the dark side. İs it fair? Look, Anakin and Obi-Wan's life started with education and ended
with education. İn my opinion the story ends at 6. film. I'll give 3 because it is a good movie when u didn't think that it is Star Wars. If you had a plan like watching Star Wars, do not watch 7. 8. and 9. movie.… Expand

the rise of skywalker film is very bad the battles choreographed as **** story is awful, why the battle vs dark Rey if Rey is still on light side and if she can get the powers of Kayloren then it was better if she just killed him, then howthe rise of skywalker film is very bad the battles choreographed as **** story is awful, why the battle vs dark Rey if Rey is still on light side and if she can get the powers of Kayloren then it was better if she just killed him, then how and why Palpatine is still alive,he should be dead and the final battle is the **** battle i've ever seen i'll describe it...It starts with Rey and KayloRen [that why did you reedemed him] fighting and struggling against minions that they should kill easily but no, then Palpatine stole the force of Rey and KayloRen [and when did he get this power] and then Rey use the sword to block the thunder and then just because she gets another sword wins and at the ending you kill KayloRen just to save Rey... Even the ending is **** and the final order,you talk about it like we're gonna have an epic battle,but the battle is the opposite, this film is just **** 3.5… Expand

Certainly a bad movie, though relatively watchable compared to the utterly abysmal, insufferable and boring Last Jedi. Although there is really no reason for Palpatine to be back, it is always fun seeing Ian McDiarmid chew up the scenery. The third and last film. Terrible new trilogy. What can be said about the new films. All the characters, except for Poe Dameron, are **** or combined. Being a spy, I noticed that Disney introduces new characters without revealing them so that children buy figures. Totally *** * stupid idea, which turns out to be Palpatine's granddaughter. I wonder who slept with Palpatine, it would be nice to talk about Palpatine's love, etc. Throughout the trilogy there are lightsaber fights. Worse than in the original trilogy. The directors who were smoking at the moment. In Palpatine's empire, from somewhere, many space destroyers appeared from somewhere that could destroy the planet. Question to the idiots of the creator, how can this be done , not noticeable. I don't know for sure, but an Imperial Star Destroyer can hold 50 thousand people. There are about 30 ships, and they need engineers and builders, etc. to make them. That is, they have at least 5-10 million people How can it be left unnoticed by everyone. How did they accept the workers? were discovered, they were probably protected by the writer. How they even manage to destroy entire planets is nonsense. Now Mary Sue and Kylo have finally fallen in love with each other. Now she has learned to treat everyone, she can do anything without learning. She is a total idiot. Pa It's not at all clear how he survived. Ray easily kills him. It turns out that all Jedi of all time live in **** how it works, who is not, when the Star Wars universe cannot exist. Kylo sacrifices himself to cure the idiot. Leia died in the film. Hari Fisher's Eternal Rest, directed by Disney, will no longer use it as a graphic. This **** killed the whole Skywalker. See "Old Men Must Die." trilogy, it's a complete wear and tear of my favorite universe, so you need to **** you need to be able. In short, stupid **** stupid ****. producer, but in her old age decided to become famous (Kathleen Kennedy). I want to talk in general about the Disney canon. After Disney bought the rights to Star Wars. Declaring all the work of the expanded universe is not canon. a serious universe that began in books, comics and developed in the prequel elah and in the animated series "The Clone Wars". Where we were shown the ambiguity of the relationship between the rebels and the imperials. What freaks of the politics of the republic, empire, etc. One would wonder if there was such an evil empire? Disney decided to go back to the original trilogy with good rebels and bad imperials. They also steal characters from the old canon. For example, Kylo Ren stole the costume entirely from Darth Revan.… Expand

I hate to say it. I’m very disappointed in Disney Star Wars. This movies was a mess from start to finish. Right from the crawl. Disney, please keep identity politics out of Star Wars. I really like The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, really... my favorite will always be Empire Strikes Back. I even like The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.

I appreciate that they tried to redeem the characters they absolutely trashed in episode 8. It was a worthy effort, but the damage done by Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson was irreparable. This was a hard movie to write. JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy had a huge task of wrapping up all these storylines while appeasing new fans and old fans. The importance of giving a fulfilling ending to Rey was traded to appease bitter fans. Sadly, there was a positive portion of the fandom who cheered and supported these new movies every step of the way. The creators turned their backs on that fandom, to appease the loud, vilifying part of Star Wars "True Fans!" apparently, who hated these movies from the start. Such a wasted opportunity to tell a bold new story, one that would really make a difference and challenge people's perception of what Star Wars can be, but instead it is relegated to focusing on reliving moments from the original trilogy. This movie gave me everything but left me empty and wondering what was the point of this whole thing because it sure wasn't hope. If anything, it was about giving in to fear of a rabid fan base.… Expand

This remains an okay-ish movie for me, but there were too many incomprehensible moments: 1) The kiss...why? 2) Finn's unanswered question to Rey seems extremely sloppy, 3) Zorrii Bliss, Jannah, D-O, Han...should all have been left out of the movie, 4) Princess Leia...I'm sorry but was it really necessary to bring her back? I did like some of the humor, action sequences and the acting of Rey/Ren.
But why not keep Chewie dead? This could have given some true emotional weight to the movie.
Unpopular opinion: I'm glad Rian Johnson will be Directing some future SW movie (although I had some issues with SW8 as well).… Expand

As a huge Star Wars fan I hoped IX won't ignore VIII too much, but I guess the pressure from the "fandom" was too much. Still astonishing, how Disney could make a trilogy without a complete vision. But IX is so non-creative, making the movie feel empty. Planetdestroyer tech on stardestroyes. Seriously, who greenlit this? We had 2 Deathstars, a Starkiller Base, this ramp canon in VIII and now this. Where are your creative minds Hollywood?

I had one emotional moment, when Chewie roars after Leia's death. Emotionally I was more invested TLJ (R2+Luke, Luke+Yoda, Luke+Leia, Reylo). I would have said ok, we **** up, let's do 2 more movies, build on VII and VIII. Something coherent. This whole trilogy now feels very odd. Still, not the end of the world, but the trilogy could have had some more heart and respect for it's legacy.… Expand

They did not plan this out. That's the major problem. They insert "fan-service" just to tickle your nostalgia. Ridiculous excuses to bring back old characters. All of the explanations were cheated. It was nonsense story-wise.

Rian Johnson really murdered this franchise, I gave some kudos to J.J for trying to fix the whole mess that was TLJ, but it wasn't enough to save the whole dumpster fire of this movie. This train wreck (like the others) continues to avoid world building and answering questions about what happened post Return Of The Jedi. Palpatine died at the end of Return Of The Jedi. Nice try JJ but he was killed when he was tossed down that shaft. Your deus ex machina copied through away line from Revenge Of The Sith doesn’t change that. He died then and stayed dead. The Death Star was essentially vaporized. A large chunk (including the throne room) didn’t survive.… Expand

I'm disgusted at how easily Rey defeated her granddad and I'm disgusted at the lack of care she had for him. I think this film is making children be care less about their genetically close family which is all part of Disney's agenda to end racism, even the natural unconditional love Humans have for their family members must be stopped according to Disney.

The story in this film was so simplistic and unoriginal that I'm pretty sure the makers of this film only worked on the film 10 minutes a day and spent all their free time greedily counting their money like lazy filthy Americans. My scrotum hurt badly when Rey called herself a Skywalker in the end, as if my lovely sperm were fearful that I'd call them something different to my last name like Disney can as they can identify as whatever they like and bloodlines mean nothing to them. Unfortunately my grandson loved this movie so I'm fearful he's going to abuse me and put me in a care home too early when he's older due to this monstrous genetics hating film.… Expand

As a avid fan of Star Wars since the age of 13 seeing the first movie at a drive in, my love for this franchise grew with every new release, from episodes 1-6 it seemed I couldn't get enough. The final 3 movies of the Star Wars series, leading to the Rise of Skywalker left me disappointed with each new release and Rise of Skywalker was no better.
From the opening crawl to the very end it seemed... forced (pun not intended) crammed every minute of the movie with ever changing plots, and canon destruction had me sitting in the theatre at the end wondering "What did I just see"
The story line of this final film was spotty and leaves lots of questions, like how did Palpatine survive all this time, and if he was alive, why did he announce himself to the galaxy before his final plans were complete? Palpatine seemed so out of character in this film, his role made no sense, he truly was not as powerful as led to believe in the trailers and hints. The truly most powerful player in this role is Rey. How this person becomes a Jedi with little or no training then later on in this final being trained by none other than Leia who has the skills and experience of a Jedi Master is beyond even my experience in this final movie. Don't get me wrong, acting was great, special effects were good but as I stated earlier, much of Star Wars canon created by George Lucas was discard for Disney's version which left me wondering "Why he ever sold this to them in the first place"
Billie Dee Williams, Chewbacca, and the old guard had such short appearances it seemed like such a waste, Palpatine's time on screen was also so small and really was not needed that in all consideration you could say he was really put there to try to salvage this movie. I to this day am still trying to digest all that I seen in this movie, it made little on no sense on many of the scenes, and much you simply cannot recall or remember for almost all parts from the forced humor of the characters to the missions of Rey seemed to fill no purpose than to add wasted minutes to the screen time. The end of the movie was the most disappointing of all, and most confusing, it simply didn't seem like closure to the Star Wars franchise but a slap in the face, not one single person in the theatre applauded, most simply sat in their seats asking their neighbors for clarification of different scenes. If you go see this movie, as I did, keep an open mind. I did, and didn't let the negative points or reviews stop me, for being a fan of Star Wars I kept an open mind, believe me, the Last Jedi had me almost saying no way would I see this one but I wanted to give the final movie the benefit of the doubt. Sad to say, I should have stayed away, the last three movies of this franchise should have been done far better than what came out. George Lucas, buy the franchise back and save us all.… Expand

p.s Rey in film was chosen one, but Lucas said that Anakin was chosen one, well....

At best, the writing is about the level of fan fiction. What if a bunch of teenagers got to write a story of their visit to the Star Wars universe? These movies would be the result.

Rey is just so powerful and... right and saves the dayAt best, the writing is about the level of fan fiction. What if a bunch of teenagers got to write a story of their visit to the Star Wars universe? These movies would be the result.

Rey is just so powerful and... right and saves the day again and again. No one is just so... great as her. Its silly and the entire focus of the story becomes this one character who the writers, for whatever reason, want to dominate the entire... universe actually. All JJ did was recycle a bunch of old ideas and characters and none of it makes sense. There is no real feeling of dread because you know Rey will just solve all problems. The entire plot destroys the original 6 movies and makes them all invalid. Watching the original 6 movies again knowing how things turn out in 7 - 9 ruins the first 6 movies. The writing is childish and there is no lead up or sense to it all.

I saw the original movies dozens of times and invested my childhood and imagination for 40 years into the Star Wars universe. Played the games, read the books, built the models. There is nothing like the Star Wars universe, or at least, there wasn't. It's dead now. I will never watch EP 7 - 9 again. The entire lore was pissed on and destroyed by these three horrid movies written by people who only wanted to make a quick buck. Time will not be kind to these 3 movies.… Expand
