Pros: A couple fun duels and ship battles.
Cons: Everything else.

I think I'm done with Star Wars movies now. I'm scared to see how Disney will ruin the Old Republic.

Disney and Lucas continue to take advantage of their fans for nostalgia and making moments not memories. The lightsaber fights were also very stagnate and my god how many new force abilities can one cram into one movie? It also showcases the fight between J.J Abrams and Rian Johnson on how they can't decide how to direct all three movies and it shows as they seem to switch back and forth between directors and completely toss away everything it set up form the previous 2 movies. One scene in particular is when Finn tries to tell Rey something important before being engulfed in quicksand. They bring up what Finn was going to say and he decides to keep it a secret. What seems like a little joke is brought 2 MORE TIMES up in the movie and every time, Finn decides not to say anything and we never learn what Finn says. Did they just forget about it? Was it J.J's idea and Rian didn't want any part in it? I don't know. But one thing for certain is that this is the worst movie of all 9 and worst trilogy of all 3. The prequels were bad but at least all 3 movies worked together. If I had the choice to make a new Star Wars trilogy, I'd just call this trilogy non-cannon and reboot the sequels if I had a choice Expand

A cliche and predictable plot, characters behaving inconsistently, and nonsensical scenes unrelated to the movie (or prior episodes) makes this film a rather disappointing finale to this new trilogy. Carrie Fisher's untimely and unfortunate death along with struggles for creative control clearly prevented this film from excelling. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Very bad movie. My hype was very high for this film, although I know that its predecessor "Star Wars The Last Jedi" was very bad, I was wrong to think that this film could be better than episode VIII, this film is much worse than the its predecessor. Why bring Palpatine back ?????? This totally breaks the proficiency of the chosen and Darth Vader / Anakin Skywalker. Rey’s kiss with Kylo Ren / Ben Solo is the worst scene in the movie, Rey’s healing power is terrible, out of nowhere she becomes a "Jedi" and learns to do that? (Information on the Star Wars canon) Emperor Palpatine / Darth Sidius' master "Darth Plagueis" did not achieve this power, as Palpatine says in episode III Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, so out of nowhere Rey learns to manipulate "Midichlorians" heal and transfer vitality to another person. Another detail **** is Rey being granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine, what the hell is that ?? !! I don't even comment on Rey at the end of the movie saying "I'm Rey, Rey Skywalker". The film also has "cool" things, like the space battle at the end of the film, Kylo Ren is still amazing, Rey’s yellow saber, the soundtrack, the visual effects and, of course, the droids R2-D2 and C3 - PO , BB -8 and the new one that I forgot the name.

In general, Star Wars Episode IX sucks and shouldn't be watched, one of the worst Star wars of all time. A film not recommended for Star Wars fans like me, and also not recommended for anyone, watch at your own risk.

Note that this was my opinion about the film.

Admittedly it would be hard to finish out an ill-planned trilogy, but doubling down on story and writing decisions made by the previous film would have been the best option in the field of very little places to go. Instead the film unnecessarily trashes the previous film and "fixes" what I can only imagine JJ Abrams saw as 'mistakes'. As a result, the film seems liked a rushed mixed bag filled with hollow moments and empty fan service. Rather than try to rush out a film in 2 years, this would have been better saved with more time on the writing floor, and communicating with the previous director.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Far and away the worst Star Wars feature film in the main storyline. It has "Skywalker" in the name but it blowtorches the Skywalker legacy. Kylo is rendered an impotent ass who loses every single fight, Rey is an overpowered Force demigod, Rose and Finn are forgotten and Poe doesn't evolve from his experiences in TLJ. And we can't forget bringing back Palpatine, the worst story decision in the history of the franchise. The visuals are fantastic and the action fast-paced, but it leaves you feeling hollow, not only for the 2+ hours you've wasted trying to digest everything in this film, but for investing decades into a story that now means nothing. Everything that was built in the original films and even the prequels is annihilated to give Rey a yellow lightsaber. Characters like BB-8, R2-D2, Chewbacca, are merely eye candy. The only achievement this film has to its name is that it somehow made The Last Jedi, itself a gross failure of story, seem better by comparison. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I went and saw the movie with my family around the time it hit theaters. My expectations were low after the last Disney **** they tried to pass off as a Star wars movie. The plot of The Rise of Skywalker has so many plot holes it's more akin to swiss cheese than a movie plot about space wizards. My experience with the movie wasn't all bad, though. The space battle at the end was the most enjoyable part of the movie. The entire begining and middle of the movie felt like filler. The whole, "I am all the sith; and I am all the jedi" sequence was really cringey and could have been done a lot better. The Reylo fan service at the end could have been left out entirely, as it made no sense at all. Rey and Kylo barely had any "chemistry" if you can even call it that. Expand

Rather then choosing to let the story that Rian Johnson set up in the predecessor play itself out, instead this movie tries to do damage control by retconning nearly every revelation that made episode 8 unique and pushing aside characters who the fandom didn't rave about. Rose doesn't accompany the team on their mission, because she has to study. Can't she just pack her things and study while their traveling through hyperspace? Come on! Rey's parents were nobodys, but now sees the kinda sorta grandchild of Emperor Palpatine. Really? Oh yeah I forgot to mention, Palpatine's back. And that's not a spoiler because it's made perfectly clear from the crawls first sentence that he's back baby and with a whole new fleet of star destroyers with planet destroying weapons. How original. Seem like Palpatine, just like the film makers, are able to discern what tactics are most effect. Anyway why is Palpatine back again. Oh ok we need a new Snoke cause he was kinda chopped in half last time around so now we're going to resurrect the classic Star Wars big bad who Snoke was based on who was thrown down a shaft and blew up, sounds good. Face palm. But don't worry you can join the gang as they go to get the thing that gives them some information about another thing that shows them who to get the other thing that shows them where to go. And watch as the movie expects us to care when all the things go down at the end but really we don't and just want to movie to be over already so we can get the homework done. The only thing holding this thing together is the beautiful set design, cgi, acting, and everything relating to the character of Kylo Ren, but outside of that this film is a complete and total mess. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the worst thing that Star Wars has ever made as a franchise. After the good and ORIGINAL work that Ryan Johnson has made, picking the ideas that George Lucas had and turned them into his personal view (the old Luke thing was created by Lucas) and the brother-sister relationship development between Rey and Kylo was just amazing. J.J. comes back from his Episode IV with different skins and resolution and decided to trow in the trash everything that the only real author who's worked on the third trilogy did. Now Rey and Kylo are in love, the entire movie is just episode V and VI put together badly, and there is Palpatine.
I won't ever forget how the scene from episode VIII where Kylo kills Snoke was intense, he was finally capable to do what Vader didn't: being the real bad guy, who really decided what to do and with no rules. J.J. decided that he needed a new Snoke again.
The visuals are impressive but from Disney that's the minimum that I expect.
I wont linger in all the Finn and Poe scenes and the continuous second thoughts that the film mades constantly.

George after watching "The Force Awakens" said "people will like that". That's no compliment, he always went counter-current, just look at his career and the second trilogy. When the man that created the saga says the worst thing that he could ever say to describe the modus operandi of a director and you bring it back to the most important film for the saga, you know you did an error and that everything went wrong.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When I first watched Rise of Skywalker, I thought it was just ok. I had seedlings of problems with the film, but they were small enough to where it didn't kill the film. However, after letting the film sit for a while and rewatching the first 8 films, those seedlings have grown into substantial issues that big the entire film down. Before I go into more detail, let me get these two things out of the way. 1: Disney clearly had no idea where this trilogy was going, and so a lot of my problems can be blamed on Disney rather than JJ or anyone else who worked on this movie. 2: I liked the Last Jedi. Not because it was an amazing movie, but because it kept me invested. The twists and turns, while maybe not the best decision for the series in the long run, made me wanna keep watching to see what happens next. The overall climax was epic in every sense of the word. The film was just interesting, which is something I cannot say about Rise of Skywalker. In short, my main problems with ROS are that it felt like a fan fiction, contradicted almost every Star Wars film, and was poorly written and boring. As stated before, it was clear Disney didn't know what they were doing, but I think JJ had a plan. I believe that JJ was setting up something with Force Awakens. However, Disney handed the wheel over to Rian, who then steered JJ's plan way off track. But, when the backlash to Last Jedi came in swinging, Disney gave the wheel back to JJ and said, "Fix this please." So, JJ used ROS to repair the damage Last Jedi caused. Which wouldn't be a problem, if that wasn't the only thing ROS felt like it did. To me, it feels like ROS leans to heavily into the "fix Rian's mistakes" camp, rather then the "conclude this trilogy well" camp. This fix it mentality is also what makes ROS feel like a fan fiction. What I mean by that, is that it seems like the whole movie was written by an upset fan after the Last Jedi. This does not bode well for the movie, as it makes the writing feel messy and not like a Star Wars movie. Speaking of Star Wars movies, this film contradicts and rejects multiple ideas from the previous movies via its most heinous addition: Emperor Palpatine lives. You see, there was this great moment in Revenge of the Sith where Palpatine tells Anakin the story of how Darth Plagueis was murdered by his apprentice. "Ironic." Palpatine says at the end of the the tale. This was a great moment because we know that Palpatine also dies to his own apprentice! Except he doesn't because ROS said so! Also the prophecy and many other lines about Anakin defeating the sith are completely butchered by this decision. Honestly, this single choice kills the movie for me now because I can't watch the first 6 films without being reminded that there lines are rendered pointless. Finally, I just thought the film was a boring string of fetch quests, which is just bad writing. I don't have as much to say about this point, it's pretty self explanatory. Overall, this film is a mess and is constantly struggling to both end this trilogy in a satisfactory way and answer fan complaints about the Last Jedi. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A good movie with a heap of gaping flaws: Every character except Kylo and Rey has no character traits now, it feels like two movies smooshed into one, they set up an interesting story for Poe and go nowhere with it in the third act, the conclusion to Finn's arc is weak, Palpatine's return retcons Anakin's Chosen One prophecy, which was one of the main plot points of Episodes I, II, III, and retrospectively VI, Kylo being counted as a Sith goes against the lore set up in Episode VII, the kiss between Ben and Rey is utterly ridiculous, most character development from Episode VIII is retconned in favor of Abrams' own vision, which retrospectively makes that movie worse because the characters were the whole point, Rose is barely in the movie, Jannah could have been really cool but the writers didn't give her a character, Lando's reintroduction feels cheap and he doesn't really do anything in the movie, Palpatine having a bunch of Star Destroyers under the ground makes zero sense, the Knights of Ren do absolutely nothing... The list goes on. In an attempt to "fix" The Last Jedi, the filmmakers created an incoherent, fan-pleasing mess of a film that disrespects both the two movies in the trilogy that came before it and the series as a whole. So, you may be asking, why did I give it a positive rating? I think people get so caught up in the film's admittedly numerous flaws that they forget it also has good qualities. The whole Rey-Palpatine thing isn't executed perfectly, but it does add some extra depth to Rey's character, and provides some interesting character moments. Kylo's redemption is beautifully done. They did a fantastic job honoring Carrie Fisher and her character, even after her passing. Rey and Kylo's friendship is good except for the kiss. The world-building is quite interesting. Babu Frik is awesome. There's a surprising poeticism to the film's final act. The list for this goes on as well. While it certainly has a plethora of flaws, you can still tell the filmmakers tried, and that they cared. Next time you watch it, maybe look for the good qualities, too.

The Rise of Skywalker is a much better attempt at making a good Star Wars movie. I will give JJ Abrams credit for trying to correct some of the mistakes Rian Johnson made with Luke. And I will also give JJ credit for actually showing Rey training. And I will give him credit for trying to make a satisfying ending. I like that we actually know who Rey is now. That being said I don't like that they brought Darth Sidious back. I understand why they did it but It's pretty dumb and cheesy. I continue to hate how Disney Star Wars uses the force. They show characters using the force in ways that are not possible given what we learned and know from episodes 4,5,6,1,2,3... Sorry but this isn't Star Wars because they don't go on the already established rules of Star Wars. It's a high budget fan film made by someone that never really understood it or just doesn't care. If Rey wasn't a Mary Sue before this she definitely is now.. One training scene doesn't justify her using the force like she did. No Jedi has ever used the force the way she did in the movie. It's completely ridiculous. Also the way Kylo communicates with her through the force and grabbing her necklace is ridiculous too.. JJ give George Lucas a call and have him give you a lesson on how the force can and cannot be used.. Rey uses the force to bring Kylo back to life. The only person that knows how to do that is Darth Sidious.. So how did Rey know how to do it? Did he train her? It just doesn't make logical sense.. Passing lightsabers through the force was dumb.. This isn't a bad movie overall. But it's a bad Star Wars movie. I don't and never will consider any Disney Star Wars movie or tv show to be real Star Wars. That goes for The Mandalorian too... They are all full of gender politics and woke propaganda. I don't care if the entire world loves baby Yoda and The Mandalorian. That show is trash too. Everything Disney touches is woke with far left ideology. And they continue to make up their own rules about the force. Expand

That was completely unnecessary. So much in this film is unnecessary, some is completely pointless. it only adds extra material to a film that was already way too packed and with major pacing problems. Humor is quite better, as C3PO is the comic relief and it makes sense in the context of the movie. We finally sense here the motivation beneath Kylo's actions, and there's some character development (not enough, but better than the nothing from the last two films) in Poe and Finn.
For the bad though...Rey's Mary Sue problem reaches new heights in this movie, it's absolutely ridiculous.
That healing power... how did she learn it?? The comeback of Palpatine is not consistently explained enough, but i wouldn't have a gripe with that if they made honour to the Palpatine return (you know, comics or books of the EU exist). Instead, they killed him again disrespecting his character and in a totally anticlimactic way.
Following that atrocious scene, Rey and Kylo have their Disney moment, and he dies in a really anticlimactic death too
Overall, i think it is FAR better than TLJ, but the damage was already done, and this film ends being mediocre overall due to that

Imagine you have the flu, took a bunch of cough medicine and spend the evening on wookiepedia. Imagine the resulting fever-dream - and you get RoS.
Like in a dream, you always know what is happening in the moment, but have no idea how it is supposed to come together or what it means. Characters wander off and reappear out of nowhere, looking for something they need without knowing why. All is on a straight line, yet goes in circles. Everybody runs as fast as they can, so no one moves at all...
As with TLJ, I have to say I have never seen a big studio blockbuster like that. But where TLJ tried to tell a different story, here it seems like Disney gave up after the backlash and now retreats into the vague and atmospheric, where it feels like SW, but literally does nothing, so no one can complain.
So, one point for achieving exactly what they wanted, one point for set- and sound-design, Adam Driver, Babo Frik, and how happy everybody is in the end, and no more points, because there literally is nothing else.

I wouldn't know a Star Wars from a Star Trek though I believe I saw the first Star Wars movie and one later on. I had to approach this movie as a stand alone film and I must admit I was confused from the first frame to the last not knowing who was who and then all of a sudden there is Mark Hamil here for a few seconds, Harrison Ford with even less screen time but I did recognize Carrie Fisher who played the princess with the hair buns who faded in and out.

It may mean something I remember the robots from the first film and I saw the hairy Chewbacca who I remember from somewhere but the relationships between the various characters are a complete mystery to me.

There are certainly a lot plane fights not to forget all the light saber fights. There is one action scene after another as if the film stopped to hold its breath for a minute the audience would moan.

The movie is 141 minutes, seems to move fast with all the action but seemed to have taken 4 days to watch!

It was good seeing Adam Driver as I had been very impressed with him in both "The Report" a Prime Video movie and "The Marriage Story", which should definitely get him an Oscar nomination, but I have no idea who he is in this movie.

Maybe if I had seen the 9 films, 5 series, 4 Animated mini-series, 3 live action series and the 3 Star Wars TV films I might have liked this better but even Allen, who is a Star Wars fan and the reason we went to see this, wasn't impressed.

I really can't recommend this movie but I will let the Star Wars fans make up their own mind about seeing it and, yes, millions are seeing it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I came in with piss poor expectations because I read the leaks. Yeah they’re all true. But for whatever reason, TROS didn't leave me with as bad of a taste in my mouth as TLJ did. Maybe it's the details that aren't outlined in the leaks. Maybe it's the erasure of a lot of TLJ's mistakes. Or maybe the chemistry the cast has built up for each other shone through. Whatever it was, I came out of the theater feeling better than I expected. I would say TROS sticks the landing, but breaks its leg in the process. It’s not a movie without flaws, and it has many, but it's tolerable on its own as the end of the sequels. This mediocre cash grab trilogy ends in a whimper, as expected. But since they forced this movie to also wrap up all 9 Episodes of the Star Wars saga, it does a bad job of concluding everything in totality.

The Good: John Williams kicks butt, as always. He really makes you feel more intimate with the scenes. The graphics are amazing as well -- a staple of any modern Star Wars film. Ian McDiarmid knocks his role out of the park and really gives you a haunted house monster kind of feeling. More on him later though. In terms of narrative, TROS tries to undo a lot of the damage caused by TLJ, so you can really think of this as a sequel to TFA. Rey actually being a somebody, or clarifying that Luke was actually doing something important on Ach-To was something that needed to happen, in my book. I didn’t like TFA, but it drew our attention to those possibilities on purpose only for TLJ to throw them away without any payoff. So at least we get some answers to things we were forced to pay attention to early on. TROS treats the characters we know and love with more respect than TLJ. Luke is still dead, but he's more or less back to normal and makes subtle jabs at his own poor portrayal in TLJ. Finn actually gets stuff done for once without referencing his mopping skills or being the butt of a joke. These are just a few things that I believe were much needed corrections. But the details of some of these changes aren't done well and end up harming the movie.

The Bad: The movie has a lot of issues. And many are universe-breaking issues. Pacing is **horrible** during the first half of the movie. If I didn’t read the leaks beforehand, I would have been totally lost. There was just too much information crammed into one movie, many of it involved giving hand wavy explanations to things shot down in TLJ, then moving along before you can think about it. If they weren't going to do it well, they should have left it alone. Narratively, Palpatine was clearly a hail mary that I wish they explained, because it undercuts Vader’s sacrifice in Ep 6. It’ll probably be explained in a book for extra Di$ney bucks or something. Rey's lineage reveal was expected, as I said earlier. But the answer they gave had no buildup at all because it's clear Palpatine was never considered for this story until recently. Subsequently, Rey choosing to be a Skywalker fell flat and I don't agree with it, considering she had parents who cared about her and she barely knows the Skywalkers outside of 1 year with Leia. They should have either left her a Palpatine or made her an actual Skywalker from the start -- don't sit on the fence. The love story with Rey and Ben is also pretty cringe, considering he tried to kill her multiple times and I just feel like it’s a very toxic dynamic that has no business being on screen. Force heal and resurrection is a can of worms they should have left in video games, in my opinion, because it breaks the universe in a similar way hyperspace ramming did. And lastly, I thought the Final Order had a convenient weakness that felt cheap. Really you can eliminate all of those ISDs by blowing up one? Lol.

In summary, I think this is may be the best movie of the ST, but this isn't saying much. It's not an *obvious*, beat by beat rip off of the OT like TFA was. And it isn't mean-spirited to the audience like TLJ was. Abrams didn't really have anywhere to go, considering where TLJ left off. But Abrams did too much, too poorly. The ST as a whole is, without a doubt, worse than the prequels. 1) There's no overall story connecting all 3 movies together, so it's a very disjointed experience in terms of tone and narration. 2) To varying degrees, all three movies reused the plots of each of the OT movies, so there's a lack of creativity. 3) This trilogy is basically Rian Johnson and JJ Abrams undoing each other and the audience pays for it, further enraging an already divided fanbase. These failures fall squarely on Disney’s shoulders for a lack of leadership and vision. I'm just glad the Skywalker story can finally rest in peace. Our old friends have been abused for long enough. Now that the curtain is closed, it's clear George Lucas is really the only one who can do Star Wars right. His prequels had issues, but they had a soul. They had imagination, creativity and daring. These new movies don't have any of that.

Oh my god... I need to say I had a very bad time in the cinema.

I liked The Force Awakens, I REALLY liked The Last Jedi, but this movie is just a real big mess. I know fans will probably love it - they don’t need a good movie, they just want to see scenes EXACTLY AS THEY EXPECT THEM TO BE with their favorite characters doing things exactly as they want to (who doesn’t like superhero movies?), and meet fulfillness of their expectations. If you are a diehard fan, maybe you don’t need this opinion?

I know it was hard to make a third movie after TLJ - it was great as a standalone, but not as a part of a trilogy, unfortunately - but it wasn’t impossible and The Rise of Skywalker is clearly not the movie, which I wanted to see. The pace is quick, the scenes with a bit of any impact are coldly calculated, there is no place for surprises, and if there are any, they are funny just because of how ridiculous they feel after what we’ve got in this whole trilogy. The intrigue? Easy and full of accidents. The returns of well-known and beloved or love-to-hate characters? Cheap and unsatisfying.

It’s not a movie - it’s a collection of short scenes connected by a weak and barely holding plot. I was really sad in the theatre. I really hoped for something „just” good. Instead I saw this thing - as I wrote before, a collection of scenes prepared for diehard fans, ready to make this „oooooh!” sound when any of their dreams happen, well-known character jumps in or dialogue makes wink to the past on the screen. If not only for them - for special effect purists and people, who go to the cinema 1-2 times a year for the blockbuster movie, for sure.

But I’m not any kind of an expert. Those are just my thoughts and I don’t want to fit people into categories, cause it’s a nonsense. I want to show you, what can you expect from Episode IX, if you want to see a good movie and you have something similar to the archetypes I mentioned.

For positives, I need to say that Adam Driver is fantastic in his role (but he have nothing to play in the second part of the movie...), also can’t tell a bad word about Oscar Isaac and John Boyega. Daisy Ridley is somehow wooden as Rey, but probably we can’t have everything we want. Oh, and special effects don’t look bad either... until final act of the movie. But you will see what I mean by that. John Williams score sounds better than in Episode VIII, but you know, it’s great as always. And C3PO is surprisingly funny!

I wanted to like this movie. I was watching it and saying to myself „it will change in the next act, I know! it all is not as I think it is”. Well, it was, and for me The Rise of Skywalker is a disappointment as huge as, I don’t know, probably Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies.

For me that’s a really, really bad movie with zero stakes (you know, how’s it going to end just from the start) but also with TONS of fan service. You will love it if you have this „oh, it’s him! oh, it’s this! oh, I wanted this badly! ooooh!” attitude, but if you expect a good movie just as I expected, you will be greatly disappointed. Just as I was.

Just missed the mark on storytelling. First half is very rushed. No time to feel or think about anything for too long. True SW fans will most likely not love it. Lots of predictable and cliché arcs/plot points. Acting is good but with the lack of good character development, some fall flat. most of the story with Leia seems off but most likely due to Carrie Fisher passing. Gorgeous cinematography. Some locations like the waves scene are breathtaking. And good use of puppeteering with some aliens. Made it feel like the original trilogy. John Williams is amazing like always with original themes and great call back themes to older movies. It's a good conclusion to the Disney/StarWars trilogy. A meh conclusion to the Skywalker saga. Worth a watch but don't rush out to see it. Will buy but just because I want the set. Solid one time watch. 6.5/10 I want to watch it again to see if it will change my opinion for the better or worse. Expand

The final shot, back in Tatooine, brought me back to the beginning at the Mann's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard as a kid when this whole saga started 42 years go. You figured it would end with the Uroboros. All the great sagas do. But yes, it's chock full of of nostalgia, an eternal return to the story patterns that Lucas established in the original trilogy. As a friend said, if you liked the Force Awakens, you're likely to enjoy The Rise of Skywalker, and I'd second that. I'll also say that Daisy Ridley truly steals the show in this film. She's solid in the last two, but her acting chops have come a long way. Keep your expectations for something revolutionary in check, and you'll enjoy yourself with this one. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pros: -Fantastic score, as per usual with Star Wars.
-Great performances from all the actors, particularly Ian McDiarmid.
-Rey being Palpatine’s granddaughter, while I can understand why it’s disappointing to some, I feel is a really cool twist that I didn't see coming.
-The film has really great visuals and great action.
-Tons of fanservice that’s sure to please hardcore Star Wars fans.
-I am forever grateful to J.J. Abrams for making Rose’s role in this movie nothing more than a cameo appearance. While I don’t have anything against Kelly Marie Tran, Rose was just a boring, irritating character in The Last Jedi and I was praying she wouldn’t be heavily involved in The Rise of Skywalker. -They did a great job integrating Leia into the film. It really does feel like Carrie Fisher was there on the set when they were filming. Massive props to the production teams for pulling that off.
-Hearing all the voice’s of Jedi’s past, while I do still wish we could have seen their actual ghosts, is really cool, and even just hearing the voices of characters like Kanan and Ahsoka from the cartoons in one of the films is so freaking awesome. Cons: -The pacing is a bit too fast and it can be hard to keep up at times.
-Parts of the script feel a bit too fan-fictiony. -Why does Palpatine order Ben to try and kill Rey if his plan is to have her take on the title of empress? It just seems like an odd choice. -Some of the new characters like Zorii Bliss and Jannah seem interesting but aren’t very fleshed out. -There are some plot lines that they introduce but then just don't go anywhere with them. For example, they reveal that Hux is the mole in the First Order feeding info to the rebels, but then kill him off shortly after, and later on they hint at Finn being force sensitive, but then don’t really go anywhere with that plot line.
-Certain arcs feel a bit rushed, like Rey’s existential crisis she goes through when she realizes she’s a Palpatine and Poe’s doubting he can lead the Resistance after Leia dies. -While seeing all those ships come together to take on the final order is cool to see, it does lead one to question where all these people were when the Resistance sent out a distress signal in The Last Jedi.
-They don’t really explain Darth Sidious’s return all too well in the film itself. -Sidious’ return can, and has, been interpreted as making Anakin Skywalker’s sacrifice in Return of the Jedi pointless. I feel if they just added a line saying something along the lines of that each generation has a different chosen one and that Anakin was the chosen one of his generation while Rey is the chosen one of her generation, then that would have cleared things up. -While the, “I AM ALL THE SITH!”, and, “I am all the Jedi.”, lines are pretty awesome, it definitely does feel like the writers were trying a little too hard to copy Endgame.

Final Verdict: Overall, I think The Rise of Skywalker is a good movie, but similarly to the Last Jedi, it’s got some pretty noteworthy flaws that can drag things down a bit. The pacing is a bit too fast, even for a J.J. Abrams film, and some plot lines are either rushed or don’t really go anywhere. This movie really could have benefitted from an extra 30-40 minutes in it’s runtime. Still, it’s a solid conclusion to the Skywalker saga that should satisfy most fans. 7/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Palpatine is a bad luck charm with Star Wars, every film he appears in is bad. The Prequels (Which don't need explanation), Return of the Jedi was a very lame film with lots of pacing issues in the 1st act, guess who's in the film...Palpatine. Episode 9, mostly mixed and negative reviews, pacing bad. Now you may say that Palpatine was in Empire which is the best film, but first of all he shows up in only one scene as a hologram. Also, in the original Emperor he was played by Clive Revill, not Ian McDiarmid. George Lucas made a deal with the devil to get the best actor possible for Palpatine, but in return the devil made it so every film he's in is bad. But that's just a theory... a film theory Expand

That sums up Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker. It draws you in from the start, with Emperor Palpatine's return, brilliantly played by Ian McDiarmid, and the hints of the truth about Rey. After that it's loads of action, a great storyline, loads of nostalgia, some surprising and not-so-surprising returns, and possibly Daisy Ridley's best performance as Rey. Loads of fun for the whole family! Expand

The only one I loved from this trilogy was star wars 7.

From the following trilogy, disney take risks by only using new characters. Also write a plan for it and force the realisator to follow it.

It was fine. That's the best thing I can say. Completely predictable, no excitement, nothing shocking, boring bland fine. It's a movie.

Nonsensical film that negates just about everything that people loved about Star Wars in the previous trilogies.

As bland, harmless popcorn entertainment it’s not too bad though. If I was rating it as a standalone movie it’d probably be up

Not sure what all the bad reviews are about. 40 year old here and absolutely loved it. Great closure. Way better than the Last Jedi. One of my favorite Star Wars films.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A satisfying ending to a great Star Wars trilogy. I like Episode IX a lot. If you liked the previous movies, you'll like this one, too. Broadly speaking, The Rise of Skywalker is what you would expect from a Star Wars movie. Great visual and special effects, amazing action scenes, cool lightsaber fights, great space battles, fitting soundtrack. My favorite scene was the long duel between Rey and Kylo Ren. I wasn't bored at any point during this film and I was entertained by all the action. This is what matters the most to me.

The story, on the other hand, is a matter of preference. I'm not a fan of all the decisions they made, but I wouldn't say they're "wrong" or "bad". A lot of people are understandingly torn on the Palpatine plot. It does feel kind of rushed and unestablished. But it didn't bother me that much. I just liked seeing him blast all those ships with Force lightning. As far as Kylo Ren's story is concerned, I'm pleased with how it ended. He redeemed himself in the end, then became one with the Force.

Rey's story I feel like is just beginning. She let go of the past. She's very powerful. She has her own lightsaber which is yellow. There is so much potential there. I just want to see her unleash her powers in the future trilogy. I want to see her shoot lightning again. I freaking loved the sequels, man. I'm a proud Star Wars fanboy. I can't wait for the new trilogy.

From the first to the third always worse, it goes from the pan, to the embers up to the incinerator ovens.
