I liked this movie. It has some problems in the storytelling buy i think it's still a great start for this franchise. What i loved the most of this film are the fatalitiess, Sub-zero, Scorpion and Liu Kang which Is my favorite mk carachterI liked this movie. Having played many of the Mortal Kombat video games over the years, seen the cheesy and visually painful older versions of Mortal Kombat movies,I couldn't been happier seeing this adaptation here come to life (Too bad I could not watch it onHaving played many of the Mortal Kombat video games over the years, seen the cheesy and visually painful older versions of Mortal Kombat movies,I couldn't been happier seeing this adaptation here come to life (Too bad I could not watch it on cinema due to COVID tho). Even tho I don't know the whole Mortal Kombat lore, I believe it was obvious that the director and the cast respected the source material and wanted to make a good film, which they did in my opinion. Great cinematography overall with beautiful landscapes, a very nice music score including the iconic soundtrack, the casting was spot on and the fighting was non stop from start to finish, exactly what you would expect to see in a Mortal Kombat movie. I will not spoil anything here because I believe, every Mortal Kombat fan or anyone who just likes fighting movies should watch it and make up their own mind. My score for the movie is easily 9/10 with only "complaint" really being that, I enjoyed it so much I could see myself watching an extra hour more, didn't want it to end. I would love to see more Mortal Kombat ovies in the future following this direction and approach.… Expand

They did a really good job at setting up a Universe for the franchise (if that was their intention). Most characters were on point, the plot was decent and the fights were awesome. Not only the character is bland and boring, but the actor himself can't act... he just can't. The dialogues are also pretty cringe and looked like they were written by a 10 year old ("These guys have super human abilities" - "impossible!!!"... like, like.)

Don't go into this expecting some deep **** just close your ears and pretend you're watching an overly corny video game plot and you're gonna have a good time. Having said that, I do want a sequel. Movie has flaws, but I enjoyed it nevertheless.… Expand

Pacing issues, Poor/over-acting, Needlessly introducing characters only to kill most of them off by the end of the film and not to mention having a story that absolutely dies before you are even 1/3 of the way through. The only things that genuinely worked were Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Kano. Everything else was too rough to watch.

Raiden, Shang Tsung and Liu Kang were the biggest disappointments as they had zero personality and very little dialogue. These were the ones suffering from over-acting. The actress who played Sonya was awful to watch and the less dialogue she had the better.… Expand

Its just as campy as the 90s classic with my biggest complaint is the how much the second half of the movie is what everyone is here for. Personally I wish they had taken a page out of the 90s movie and just wrote a story with the expectation we know who these characters are. if it started closer to the half way point and stretched that out to 2 hours would have been better.… Expand

The Trailer made this look like it was going to take itself seriously for once and respect and do justice to the original MK lore .

It starts good, making you think that it will be well done, dark and bloody... Then it turns into an absolute joke with ridiculous acting, bad one-liners (which I think were supposed to hype fans but it only made it terrible in my eyes) and cringeworthy plot... Most of the evil characters are pretty much treated as simple grunts, Nitara having the worst of them all (she literally lasts for 2 minutes worth of screen time). The only valuable notes were the Sub-Zero effects, the fight with Scorpion (still somehow ruined by the main character) and the opening scene. All the rest, including the absurd plot of "unlocking the arcana" is just terrible.
Oh, and one more thing...
Why on Earth were all the characters' ethnicities respected but Mileena has been assigned to a black actress? It just makes absolutely no sense except for "BECAUSE YES, THAT'S WHY".

I'd give the movie 0 but it gets a 1 because it made me laugh at how bad it was.… Expand

I'm familiar with Mortal Kombat lore and it still managed to get me confused several times. I can't imagine how confused people who are unfamiliar with the lore might be. This was sooo much fun to watch.. if you’re a fan of the games you’ll find lots to love here. The script is laughable, and the actors involved are doing their best with what they are given. Worst of all, there is no actual final battle. Shang Tsung parades around a la Liz Taylor from AHS, and little else. Halfway through, you just want it to end.

I was pumped with the trailers and getting to the main event just underwhelming, between the acting and the way it was filmed just tuned out to it. Mk 95 has charm and great character’s, this does not. Video-games storyline is better.

Good entertainment, fans of MK will definitely enjoy. A bit shallow story-wise. Would have enjoyed more fleshed-out characters (Kabal and Mileena). It's a solid 7/10.

Не понимаю недовольства некоторых людей, которые ругают фильм за плохую графику, отсутствие турнира, короткие драки и тд. Конечно, это ваше мнение, но подождите, это только начало. Дальше - больше! In short - It’s fun, but really dumb.

I can’t help but remember that awesome viral trailer a few years back that reimagined Mortal Kombat in a dark, grounded, realistic way. That would of been 100x better than this. It’s not terrible, it’sIn short - It’s fun, but really dumb.

It’s not terrible, it’s fun. But the editing and pacing is awful (like seemingly all tentpole WB movies), the story is really dumb, and the fight scenes are so heavily edited I can’t even tell what’s going on half the time. It just looks super fake, like all American fighting movies where the actors can’t actually fight. It is a shame, because some of the actors look like they could actually fight and some of the choreography and special effects are cool.

Overall, its was disappointing, but it’s worth the watch if you already have HBO max. Just don’t waste your money to see it in the theater.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A real shame as it comes across as a B-grade film. It hit all the right notes as a fan of the game, the casts looked the part, well, almost. Goro was done amazingly, it was cast well for the most part and the little Easter egg lines were a good touch.

That said, the acting, writing and pacing was just not very good, and it saddens me to say this because I've waited over 20 years for another real Mortal Kombat movie. Sub Zero and Scorpion set the bar but the rest never came close. The acting and fighting of Sub Zero and Scorpion was amazing and showed the true potential of the movie but the other character fights were just weak and filler. So many moments could have been better like when Cole was fighting Mileena and Sonya comes in for the finisher. That was an opportunity for a well coordinated combo move yet, it just looked half assed and a wasted chance. Her finisher looked good but it didn't have the proper set to properly highlight it. There's also tons of plot holes, like when Shang Tsung talks about going behind Raiden's back to kill the earth's champions, only to show up at his temple to let Raiden know his plans. All in all, it's worth checking out if you're a fan of the franchise but it pays tribute as a fan movie rather than a blockbuster to break the video game movie curse.… Expand

So was the Legacy series, hell, even Conquest & Defenders of the Realm were better than this. Acting was horrible, plot was horrible, low budget, cheaply made movie. The only good thing about this movie was Joe Taslim, if they make a sequel, which would be shocking since this first one was so bad, Taslim needs to come back as Noob Saibot. Kano was okay but he died, and Johnny Cage was teased for the sequel. I can't get over how bad this movie was overall. It's very hurtful. Thank you Warner Brothers!… Expand

Satisfyingly violent and gory. Director Simon McQuoid's love for video games allows him to translate the franchise spectacularly onto the big screen.

Thank god this movie released at midnight because it was perfect to help me fall asleep. Whoever was in charge of writing this script needs to be never allowed to make another film.. What in the actual F$%^ happened.
