The script was just awful from start to finish, Kano was the only part that made it enjoyable and most of kombat towards the end of the movie. I could not help myself but cringe through the entire film, it made no sense. The story is just... Not great... And that's putting it nicely.

Feels predictable, poorly done and the pacing is just so jarring. Whole film felt like a giant **** of confusion and failed ideas.

I didn't expect many from this movie but its even worst than I can imagine.
Bad scenario, bad acting, bad fights.
Cole Young...why? Mortal kombat have around 50 60 characters and they create new one with stupid power of armor and ability likeI didn't expect many from this movie but its even worst than I can imagine.

Kano is the only good thing in the movie , funny aggressive and lookalike game design, but without cybernetic parts.
You have everything ready you just have to transfer it on the screen but you still cant do even this.
Take the story from the game and just show it to us like it is.

Overall the movie had a frame of potential that was quickly ruined by cringey jokes , terrible lines , and deaths that seemed almost forced. Что же я могу сказать по поводу этого фильма? Смог ли он изменить мое мнение. Что ж хотелось бы начать с того, что после просмотра данного фильма я был в полном ужасе. Дело даже не в том, что фильм оказался для меня, фаната этой классной вселенной, ужасно плох. Меня ужаснула реакция людей, которые получали от этого фильма огромное удовольствие. Оказывается, можно снять откровенную халтуру и замаскировать её огромной кучей фансервиса — а зритель будет доволен.
1) Начать хочу с Турнира, которого в фильме… просто нет.
«Но постойте, — возразит знакомый с франшизой читатель, — ведь в большей части игр Турнира тоже не было!». Да, всё верно, но это первый фильм в серии, и он должен был быть посвящен именно Турниру.
2) Что должно быть в центре фильма по Mortal Kombat? Турнир, драки, спасение мира. Нет, в центре фильма — суперспособности, избранные и пророчество. В здешнем Турнире участвуют не лучшие из лучших, а обладатели особой метки в виде дракона, которую можно получить от рождения или убив другого носителя метки. Кому принадлежит эта идея, это же полная хрень!!!
3) Персонажи:
Хорошо: Кано, Соня Блэйд.
Нормально: Кун Лао, Скорпион, Саб-Зиро, Кабал.
Средне: Коул Янг.
Плохо: Шан Цзун, Милина, Джакс, Лю Кан.
Ужасно: Рэйден, Рептилия, Горо, Нитара, Рейко.
Этому фильму можно простить многое, можно придумать много оправданий: «у создателей было мало денег», «это режиссёрский дебют», «ну это же фильм категории B». Вы меня конечно извините, но это ужасное кино!!!
Годы ожиданий не стоили этого!!!… Expand

Crige and budget. Suposed to have hired martial artists, but the fights are bad and the acting atrocious.. The only things that genuinely worked were Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Kano. Everything else was too rough to watch.

Raiden, Shang Tsung and Liu Kang were the biggest disappointments as they had zero personality and very little dialogue. These were the ones suffering from over-acting. The actress who played Sonya was awful to watch and the less dialogue she had the better.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Started out great with the nice Japanese setting and suspenseful atmosphere but then it went downhill from there. The movie introduces a brand new character, Cole Young, as the main character of the movie, big mistake. The Mortal Kombat franchise has plenty of awesome characters they could have used but instead they decided to make up a brand new one who is mostly mute throughout the entire movie and when he does talk it's just generic gibberish. I thought Kano was decent and he mostly carried this movie, it's too bad he's dead now. The Scorpion vs Sub-Zero fight scenes were cool but short. Kung Lao does a cool fatality and dies too soon. Liu Kang does his dragon fatality but makes you wonder why he doesn't just stay in dragon form. Jax does a cool fatality but at the wrong setting, he should have instead uppercutted Reiko into the bottom of the pit like in the first game. The movie tries to explain how these earthrealm fighters got their super powers by coming up with this idea of arcana, that these people chosen by a dragon tatoo can unlock their powers by having something happen to them. Apparently the tatoo can be passed on to the victor if the victor kills someone with a dragon tatoo. Cole somehow has the tatoo because he's a descendant of Scorpion, apparently you can pass the tatoo by having babies. Dumb. There's no need to come up with explanations of how they have their powers, this is Mortal Kombat not the real world, they just have these powers and that's fine. But by coming up with this arcana stuff you end up with dumb decisions like Kano unlocking his arcana by arguing about egg rolls, Cole unlocking his by getting punched by Goro despite the fact that he's been getting punched for many years in his MMA career, Jax getting super robot arms which suddenly evolved from skinny robot arms, Sonja unlocking hers I have no idea how she unlocked hers so quick after getting her tatoo. It's so silly and unnecessary. Some other big disappointments were Raiden and Shang-Tsung. Raiden spends the entire movie claiming he can't interfere but he does at the end. It's funny how he always shows up too late, he's like the opposite of Superman in this movie. The 1995 Raiden was so much better. As for Shang-Tsung the only thing he does is give out some orders, takes away Kung Lao's soul without having to weaken him, and gets banished by Raiden. The 1995 Shang-Tsung had some cool fight scenes and some nice lines, this new one is just lame like this movie.… Expand

The movie has horrible pacing. There is no tournament. The chosen outland characters were dumb. Raiden is useless and boring. The dialogue is horrible. Character development is horrible. CGI is bad. Main character is boring and their family doesnt belong in this movie. Cheesy one-liners. There is no tournament. Outland is never explored. Kano’s eye is so dumb. Hanzo who is clearly an honorable warrior and the victim at the beginning of the movie somehow ends up in hell becoming Scorpion? Thats dumb. This movie is like watching six different directors’ half remembered fever dreams of the 15 minutes they spent playing the game before filming. Oh, there is no tournament. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. tl;dr this is a poorly made film that rides more on the name rather than any actual substance.

The fact that this is the feature directorial and writer debut of Simon McQuoid is not all surprising thanks to how poorly this film is made. First off, the story. Instead of heading directly to the tournament, this film works as a prequel of sorts by focusing on the attempts by Shang Tsung to kill the chosen fighters before the tournament to secure an easy 10th and final win and be allowed to conquer Earthrealm. This isn't necessarily a bad idea, but it's a needless change when all the character "growth" could have still been done in the tournament proper. This change, comes more to add more weight to the death of Hanzo Hasashi (Scorpion) earlier in the film due to some prophecy that a descendant of Hanzo would win the 10th tournament. This descendant is non other than the new protagonist Cole Young.
Cole is one of the biggest problems of the film. The character was clearly made to put more focus on Scorpion and Subzero, due to Cole being from Scorpion's bloodline. While that makes sense as Scorpion and Subzero are the mascots of the series, Cole is a terrible character to do it, as he is poorly written and acted, creating a generic and cliche character that comes off more as an author self insert rather than someone that belongs among the regular cast. This pushes Liu Kang out of his regular protagonist role and relegates him to minor character status. That fate also occurs to most of the other series regulars. Any weight that they have in the games is lost here, as the creator is relying on fans' familiarity with the characters to create emotional investment as opposed to developing them within the film's narrative. This comes back to bite the film as whenever characters are killed, there is no emotion for those with no prior knowledge of the games and characters. Kung Lau is the biggest example of this, as his death has no meaning though it is supposed to be an emotional low point. His connection to Liu Kang is only done through exposition, so it is difficult to really empathize with Kang as his lost. The films bad pacing also plays a part in the lack of emotional investment. The film swings between fights and exposition without time for character, leaving any emotional stakes in the fights nonexistent. The only character that really gets any character development is Cole, except it is trite and cliche, without doing anything that makes it unique. So any emotional stakes in his fight are more contrived.
The fights themselves are not poorly choreographed, but they are poorly shot and edited, with many of them also being poorly lit. This makes the fights difficult to watch and not even delivering on empty spectacle. The only fight that is decent is the final fight between Scorpion and Subzero.
The special effects overly rely on low-quality CGI that looks unfinished, minimizing much of the impact the amount of gore could have. When a body gets cut in half, it comes off as unconvincing as the effect looks fake. The only times the effects look good are when they were done practically, or used Subzero's ice (the only good CGI in the film).
Overall this is an incompetent film that can't even deliver on blind spectacle action like other franchises can due to the ineptitude of the creation. The only reason it is so pervasive in the zeitgeist is due to the mass marketing relying on the name of the brand, being on of the most popular fighting game franchise of all time. While a sequel is undoubtedly on the way, hopefully it is made with people who actually know what they are doing and try to make a decent product first as opposed to a cash grab.… Expand

Has nothing to do with the MK tournament if anything this movie is filler for a series. This move was not exciting at all, compared to MK 9,10, and 11 story modes. Hell at least make an attempt to play the all the games and make this movie for the fans. If anything LET THE FANS DIRECT VIDEO GAME MOVIES, HELLO??? ASK OUR FEED BACK AND STUFF. Cole is such a boring character, he barely talks and gets beat up most of this movie. How are we supposed to like this hero if he sucks? Also, all the characters are boring. Not gonna lie, I had high expectations for this movie, but this is a big disappointment. Apart from the fight scenes, nothing in this movie seems good. While it does follow certain elements of the game, it felt like a giant 2 hour long teaser for the actual movie to come (if there is enough money and hype to make the damn thing). The characters are also very bland in terms of emotion (except for Kano) and I found their performance so soulless, I'm surprised Shang Tsung didn't die in the first few minutes. As for the tournam--wait....I've been waiting 2 hours and there's no tournament!? And if there's no tournament, then anything goes, right? So where's Raiden when you need him? Oh yeah, he's too busy talking slowly as if he's trying to hold in his elder god poop.

Overall, if you loved the 1995 version of Mortal Kombat, stick to that. The 2021 version of Mortal Kombat makes MK: Annihilation look more watchable.… Expand

The character feels empty, their introduction is weird and we feel as it was more about showing as much of them as possible and their magic than making them feel real. They feel more real in MK 11 game. They do not have their vibe (Kano is not scary at all, Shang Tsun looks half geisha and Liu Khang looks on weed ). The story pacing was weird as well. I was not hooked at all and I am a fan since Mk1 game. I will not buy and not rewatch this ever again for sure. Disappointed.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sub-zero seems to be hunting Scorpion’s clan for some unexplained reason, and somehow found Scorpion simultaneously in hiding with bodyguards, yet totally unprepared. Whatever their rivalry, it is left totally in the dark.
Cole’s introduction to the impending Mortal Kombat tournament is rushed, and confusing, creating more questions than it answers. How did Jax find him? Why is the mark of the tournament champions being passed down to Cole through his bloodline? Does the mark get passed down through every bloodline, unless an individual is killed? Are killers inherently stronger and more worthy than their victims, under any circumstances?
How did Sub-zero find Cole conveniently moments after Jax found him and started following him? What kind of supernatural ninja fails to murder a completely unarmed and unsuspecting guy in a restaurant?
Sonya and Jax claim to be part of a special task force researching the Mortal Kombat phenomenon, but they appear to have 0 resources. They are literally operating out of Sonya’s childhood trailer-house, with the cliché spiderweb of pictures and news-clippings tacked to the walls, and no money or any other sort of support.
Sonya captured Kano of camera, with a brief, unsatisfactory after-the-fact explanation. Again, Reptile manages to find Sonya and Cole and get to them without any explanation.
Another odd threadbare plot connection is that Kano conveniently knows where Raiden’s Temple is.
While Jax, Sonya, Subzero, and Reptile have had no trouble finding Cole without any explanation, Raiden and Lui Kang could not be bothered to go out to find Cole, who has been marked his whole life, but they did manage to rescue Jax after he lost his arms. They simply waited around until Cole and Kano arrived, with less than a month to train for the tournament that they have been aware of forever. So, I guess it would have been too much to expect Cole to be brought up preparing for this tournament that he was born to participate in.
Apparently there are Elder Gods that simultaneously set the rules of the tournament, to determine the fates of worlds, but are also “too lazy” to do anything when Outer World cheats? Except Raiden, who is there to help Earth realm, but only so much?
Raiden’s capacity to intervene in events is poorly defined. He goes out of his way to protect the champions from Shang Tsung at first. But when Shang Tsung finally penetrates Raiden’s shield barrier, Raiden claims to be obligated to stand by and remain neutral when Kung Lao is killed.
Our john doe fanfiction writer’s-ego Cole Young did not win a single fight on his own.
His wife helped him with Goro.
Raiden then agrees to use his teleportation ability to basically create game-like match-ups between champions. Sonya kills Kano and she immediately masters her “arcana” power, offscreen, and then magically saves Cole once, before Cole goes on to continue getting his ass kicked again.
After burning in hell for hundreds of years, waiting for no explained reason, Scorpion shows up at JUST the right moment to save Cole from Subzero – but only after letting all the events of this movie unfold.
Why does Scorpion say “Get over here” in English, when he exclusively speaks Japanese the rest of the movie? Why not say it in Japanese?
Jax’ “arcana” appears to simply be the ability to make his unbelievably frail mech-arms into the super strong arms we knew we’d be getting eventually. How can arcana – which generally appear in the forms of classic elemental magic like fire, ice, etc., make flimsy prosthetics into beefy robot muscles? I am not an expert on ableism and the nuances of the “supercrip” trope, but I’m pretty confident that this was a solid example of that ugly, tired trope.
The “arcana” premise is an unnecessary non-canon cliché.
This feels like some amateur’s sophomoric fan-fiction in which Cole is their generic John Doe add-in character so they can fantasize becoming part of the Mortal Kombat universe, canon be damned. The problem with this movie is 90% the script, an uninspired mix of unexplained, rushed plot points, and bad jokes.… Expand

Lo que cabe recalcar es que las peleas fueron buenas ( o por lo menos la mayoría), y los fatalities fueron increíbles. En fin, creo que tienen bastante material para hacer una segunda parte que sea buena, solo que cambien al guionista por uno que si sepa escribir.
En conclusión: la película es muy tediosa, las peleas son buenas pero no lo suficiente para que vuelvas a ver la película.… Expand

I was about 15 when the original movie came out when garbage like this was almost acceptable.

I went into this movie with an open opinion, but it has some problems, first why did they make up a new character that does not exist in any of the games big no no, especially to play the lead role, Coal Young is a nobody, and that is hisI went into this movie with an open opinion, but it has some problems, first why did they make up a new character that does not exist in any of the games big no no, especially to play the lead role, Coal Young is a nobody, and that is his special distinction as a character almost as if he is Yamcha from Dragon ball z, the guy is written to be a loser, but to the movies credit I will admit, Kano, Kabal, sub-zero, scorpion, were done well, but even they were lacking good back stories, the script lets even sub vs scorp down, I mean MK fans love violence and that is what you will see in the movie, mostly blood, but I would like to understand the motivations of the characters, and see their perspectives better brought to screen then what I saw in this movie, Kano and Kabal were the best thing about the movie acting wise, because they have dialog and use words and emotions, and have personality, I thought the fight between sub-zero and scorpion would have been the center of the movie, based on the trailer, but without a purpose or reason behind why sub-zero slayed scorpions family it seems more shallow and ultimately less interesting, a movie is supposed to make sense of these rich characters, and I wanted to see more tournament based environment/ and rules explained, like in the 1995 film, but we don't get that here, they just sort of fight anywhere and skip rules and plot setup, the movie is cartoony violent I will give it that but 3 stars is all I feel it's worth, the script was likely the culprit, and it skips too many crucial points of character development in favor of flashy stuff and not explaining, this movie needed a better script and someone that understands MK.… Expand

Maybe it’s because I never grew up with the games that I didn’t like this but I feel that even if I did, I wouldn’t like this movie. This film’s big issue is that it really didn’t do anything to keep me interested. I also just didn’t really care about the characters that much. Even if you have played the games, a lot of these characters aren’t given arcs and the ones that do have one, their conclusions don’t feel satisfying. The only thing that really kept me going was the fight scenes but it wasn’t because the choreography was cool, it was because I liked the use of blood. The Mortal Kombat games are very violent and this film keeps that element. The film is pretty brutal at points and I enjoyed that but nothing else stood out. The fight scene at the beginning was cool but I don’t remember any of the other fight scenes after that. A lot of them feel like they mesh together and don’t have a big impact on the overall story. The film is bland looking. Nothing about the cinematography or the lighting really caught my eye. I did like some of the production design though. The sets for some of the fight scenes look cool at points and I kinda liked the guy with the metal arms. That’s really about it. There isn’t a whole lot I remember about this film and I watched it less than a week ago. Check it out if you want but you’re missing nothing if you skip it.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I can't say that this movie diverges more than that from what I rationally expected from the Mortal Kombat franchise. Yet it is very disappointing.

It perfectly showcases how shallow the franchise is: the lore could be way more precise and full of details. The characters are just the fighters we all know and they are 'useless' (as Raiden says) if they don't find and use their surnatural powers. The concept of death is really weird since Scorpion is able to come back to life. The protagonists spend the most part of the movie talking about a tournament we don't see in the end (maybe in the sequel who knows). There is no reason for Sub-Zero to be that strong, I mean why would Scorpion need the help of a rookie to defeat him? In general, what irritated me the most was the lack of attention of the producers leading to countless incorrect scenes: fighters have wounds that never heal, that disappear from their bodies to return later in the feature and people's positions always change even if they are not in motion.

Fortunately we deserve some mildly bloody sequences but same problem here: wounds are useless and never taken in account. If there are many easter eggs and special moves 'Mortal Kombat' wasn't that brutal to me excepted some particular scenes. The characters are really unattractive (especially Raiden and Sonya) and I found Kano to be dull and insipide. Cole Young (Lewis Tan) is so uncharismatic.

CGI is gorgeous (but how could it not be that way with the amount of money spend on this feature). Soundtrack is okay but uneven throughout the movie. Overall acting is terrible. Scenario is predictable. No replayability.… Expand

There is a scene where Jax tells the dude whose name I can't remember to go to a specific address in Gary, Indiana. The dude shows up to a damn boatyard with a cardboard sign taped to the fence with the exact address Jax gave written in f*cking sharpie. Also, Sonia Blade lives on a boatyard in Gary, Indiana? Of all the places they could've picked, why the hell did they choose Gary, Indiana? I could be here all day explaining why that makes zero sense at all.

The lack of general Mortal Kombat knowledge from the filmmakers is baffling, they played maybe 5 minutes of one game and went from there. If you're going to make an adaptation of something, at least learn more the baseline lore so you don't have to make sh*t up. They completely butchered all of the characters and they feel like caricatures. Especially Scorpion, why did you have to do that to my boy? Scorpion, who is arguably the strongest and most feared fighter in the realms, feels completely useless in this film. None of his brutality nor ferociousness is felt whatsoever in the 5 minutes he is in the movie. This is simply a terrible film adaptation.… Expand

The 1995 Mortal Kombat the characters believed in their roles, casting was great, the jokes actually worked.
There are some good fights scenes in here, especially the final one. But this movie is missing a lot of the elements that made the original propel itself into the stratosphere. This one will be forgotten by tomorrow.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me start by saying I have loved Mortal Kombat most of my life. it was my first videogame ever. My favorite character was always Scorpion.

I had already expected to hate this movie, because it came to light that Johnny Cage was replaced by a Taven tier fan fiction character: Cole. It didn't help that heir reason for doing that was that they didn't want a white man saving the world. WTF that's racist as hell. Unfortunately, being prepared to hate the movie wasn't nearly enough. It was just an all around bad movie.

Cole was about as interesting as a plank of wood, as was everything centered around him, including the plot of him being a descendant of Scorpion. I couldn't help but laugh at the stupidity. The plot was a mess, the dialogue, pacing acting(while not entirely the actors fault) was a complete mess. A lot of characters get misused in this movie. Kung Lao died so Shang Tsung wouldn't be completely irrelevant. Jax was completely forgettable in this movie, the actor had no charisma, and the creators gave him minimal screen time, (Also he never said "Gotcha"). Liu Kang; the freaking hero of MK accomplished nothing the whole movie until he managed to beat Kabal. Not Goro, not Shang Tsung. Kabal. Kano was one of the only good parts of the movie. The actor seemed to have the time of his life portraying him, which made him that more fun to watch. Scorpion was in the movie for all of twenty minutes, which wouldn't be a problem if they utilized his screen time to its full potential. If you were excited for the inevitable clash between Scorpion and Sub Zero then you'll be disappointed because Scorpion needed help from discount Taven to help him beat the ice mage. I personally looked forward to their fight the most so I was incredibly let down.

Some of the good points of the movie. Kung Lao's complete annihilation of Nitara was one of the only completely satisfying moments in the whole movie. Sub Zero dominated the screen with every scene he was in. He felt like an intimidating antagonist that was worthy of respect, which was something I wished for the other villains. There were gags that only a gamer would understand, like constantly sweeping the leg of the opponent, or turtling and following it with an uppercut.

Another thing that might seem like a small change, but it's infuriating. Mileena's existence. She literally couldn't have been made without Kitana, and there was no mention of her. Not to mention they butchered Mileena's appearance ( she was black and hardly had any pink in her outfit.)

Ultimately this was a movie that did NOT need to be made, but since it was we as the fans deserved WAY better.… Expand

I don't get why anyone would give this over a 7/10, that blows my mind. There is just so much cheesy dialogue, kano gets way too much screen time, attempting joke after joke, none of which are even the slightest bit funny, the fact that there are so many just becomes incredibly cringy, this coming from someone that loves mk95's kano. For some reason they decided to cast liu kang and kung lao as high school boys, they looked like they weighed all of 150 pounds, hard to not find that silly. Cole apparently can survive easily vs goro, without a power, who for some reason doesn't kill cole in any of the 10+ opportunities he has. The dude with the hammer is lame AF, the bat lady char sucked, coles power or whatever was more like a superhero knock off, for some reason everyone hours him in his plate instead of this completely exposed head, c'mon. I could go on and on, there is so much more, but I'll leave it at that, not even worth watching IMO.

What a bad, bad movie, waited so long to get this movie and this is what they deliver. At the very end, to top it all off, the poorly cast shang tsung saves all his people that died, so it was all a pointless setup, dumb.… Expand

It starts good, making you think that it will be well done, dark and bloody... Then it turns into an absolute joke with ridiculous acting, bad one-liners (which I think were supposed to hype fans but it only made it terrible in my eyes) and cringeworthy plot... Most of the evil characters are pretty much treated as simple grunts, Nitara having the worst of them all (she literally lasts for 2 minutes worth of screen time). The only valuable notes were the Sub-Zero effects, the fight with Scorpion (still somehow ruined by the main character) and the opening scene. All the rest, including the absurd plot of "unlocking the arcana" is just terrible.
Oh, and one more thing...
Why on Earth were all the characters' ethnicities respected but Mileena has been assigned to a black actress? It just makes absolutely no sense except for "BECAUSE YES, THAT'S WHY".

I'd give the movie 0 but it gets a 1 because it made me laugh at how bad it was.… Expand

Doesn’t follow any of the original plotlines. The new character is a good actor but his character is unlikeable. Movie ends on cliff hanger for a sequel I hope never gets made. Kano was the best part.

This movie was bad. It really did nothing well. The fight scenes were predictable and mediocre. The character development was very poor. Acting was bland. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Infelizmente o filme é muito fraco, o roteiro tenta ser extremamente expositivo, mas se embaralha ao contar a história. O edição é horrível, não há uma transição orgânica de uma cena para outra, principalmente do meio para o final. As atuações são robóticas e sem expressão (com excessão do Kano). As lutas são boas, mas na grande maioria, muito curtas e picotadas. Os plots do filme são previsíveis ao extremo, vc não se surpreende em nada com a história. Todas as lutas, com excessão de uma, estão nos trailers, e o pior, as melhores partes das lutas tbm já foram mostradas. Os vilões são unidimensionais, sem motivação e descartáveis. Goro, Reiko e Nitara são muito mal aproveitados ( está última aparece só para morrer, no melhor estilo Sheva de MkAniq.). O filme é um festival de frases de efeito, e de personagens que se apresentam como se fossem um aluno no primeiro dia de aula. Os arkanos são achados pelos personagens como uma pessoa q acha dois reais no chão, tendo uma cena mal escrita e atuada para cada descoberta de poder. Vc não cria empatia por ninguém no filme, não se importando com a morte de qualquer personagem. As cenas q eram para dar emoção ( morte da família do Scorpion, morte do Kung lao e a família do Cole em perigo) não acertam no tom e não te impactam. Alguns personagens aparecem com nomes novos sem um explicação mínima ou um backgraund, ficando cenas jogadas no filme. Raiden e o Shangão não são nem sombras do que são no filme de 95. Enfim, poderia enumerar vários pontos negativos do filme como obra cinematográfica. Mas vamos aos pontos positivos: a fotografia é bem feita, com bons enquadramentos, o figurino está impecável, dando um ar de realidade muito forte, as lutas, apesar de mal editadas, são bem ensaiadas, com algumas boas cenas inventivas na parte final, a violência, apesar de estar longe da dos jogos, é mostrada na maior parte das vezes de maneira explícita. CONCLUSÃO: O filme foi um grande desperdício de oportunidade, que embora seja melhor q o MK Aniquilação ( que de tão ruim, ficou cômico), está anos luz do filme de 95, se tornando um filme sem sal e esquecível. Nota: 4. PS: Se vc gostou ou se divertiu com o filme, parabéns, lhe invejo.....de verdade. Mas não há nada nesse filme q eu não tenha visto e feito de maneira melhor ( nem as lutas) em dezenas de outros filmes. So was the Legacy series, hell, even Conquest & Defenders of the Realm were better than this. Acting was horrible, plot was horrible, low budget, cheaply made movie. The only good thing about this movie was Joe Taslim, if they make a sequel, which would be shocking since this first one was so bad, Taslim needs to come back as Noob Saibot. Kano was okay but he died, and Johnny Cage was teased for the sequel. I can't get over how bad this movie was overall. It's very hurtful. Thank you Warner Brothers!… Expand

If ACTUALLY play mortal kombat or know any lore throw it out the window because the name of characters is mostly what they stick to. I'll skip the beginning because after I saw the new guy Cole I wanted to stop watching it and so did my friends. After the horrible forcing new lore in you get more Cole a guy that is not a good or decent fighter and his useless family besides his daughters bracelet besides that bracelet nothing matters more on that later. Jax shows up shows birthmark same as Cole useless new lore and I can't keep going it's that bad. I'll just list the bad it's a remake that barely follows the original lore. Characters don't follow the time line and are forced in. Important characters are killed early ruining major events for the future. Cole goes from the worst fighter to killing Goro with ease thanks to a bracelet power up moment freaking Goro! Mileena is there first but not Kitana! Wtf how is Mileena there but not the original how do you put the clone that was made after her appearance and not Kitana? Nothing is mentioned on her lore too.Everyone powers up at the last part and beat the same enemies that destroyed them. Forgot that Kitana is Asian and Mileena is a clone of Kitana so sorry to say it but watch Kitana be in the second part (If the movie doesn't bomb) be played by a Asian actress and leave you thinking why is Mileena you know. The worst part is the absolute destruction of the lore of this series. If you ever played even one you'll know something is wrong at the start. This movie is not for fans of Mortal Kombat that know even a little lore It's for those people that don't know anything about it and even then they'll think really this has stacks of games made with this horrible story? You want a movie to watch? Go watch Demon slayer it was sold out when I went and Mortal Kombat was empty. Seriously want the news say Mortal Kombat was first in the box office...besides Demon Slayer that earned more than they'll make with this horrible movie and it's sequel and what they got paid combined! There's a reason why people love Japanese media it's good and doesn't have woke crap and follows the lore! I'd watch Demon Slayer the whole Saturday all showings than watch this horrible movie for 10 minutes. Don't believe anyone who says they know Mortal Kombat and like the movie that's not a fan it's freaking garbage.… Expand

Thank god this movie released at midnight because it was perfect to help me fall asleep. Whoever was in charge of writing this script needs to be never allowed to make another film.. What in the actual F$%^ happened.
