Unexpected chars with the very strange movie theme

About the chars, we already knew if Marvel Studio really worked hard to develop audience satisfaction and loyalty. Unexpected chars?! It’s a must for Marvel movies! However, this movie is very strange for the superhero theme caused by the “apocalyptic zombie” ambiance. The strangeness of Dr. Strange's movie. This ambiance felt very strange for superhero movies which are they’re recently focused on children's segment and happiness themes. This movie is living proof if they want to bring a “dark” movie theme again – since Blade, Daredevil, Elektra, and The Punisher. They hope the strange theme is plausible for Doctor Strange. Maybe, they thought it was the time to join the competitive segment of the dark theme superhero, like the success of DC Comic through The Batman (2022).

The main plot is Dr. Strange forced to save a kiddo girl from being chased by a catastrophic enemy to kill her and absorb her power. This leads to adventurous trips to multiverses of the world. The pros of this movie are very incredible visuals, great moral value, and entertainment. Those three are a must for Marvel superhero movies. If need more satisfaction, this movie provides a new storyline and unexpected chars that maybe could be synchronized with another movie. Somehow, this is really providing satisfaction because we’re really curious and can’t wait about what is to come. Besides all of the pros, everything is just of standard quality. However, the biggest cons are very strange movie themes. “Apocalyptic zombie” is really vividly narrated through the end of the story. It’s really gross for me. Sadly, there is another disappointment which is the weak movie plot. Tbh, I didn’t really convince enough about why trade many lives to save one life? Another odd plot is there’s a bunch of chars that narrated as the great leaders but they just came in a glimpse and vanished. What is the actual point to show them in screen time? Lastly, Marvel Studios already pointed out their American political issue which brings very popular themes – American pride, LGBTQ, and Illuminati. This theme is very vividly but subtle through a char name, costume, and direct story.

Overall, in my personal POV, I really get annoyed with the “Apocalyptic zombie” theme but I'm satisfied with the unexpected chars. I thought it was so-so quality, but this movie is still good to watch. If u are really Marvel fans, it’s a must to see this movie to guess what is the actual grand storyline in the future. If u aren’t, this movie is still good to see because we could really enjoy it as newcomers that didn’t know anything about Marvel.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall this movie is pretty good. There are some plot-holes and confusion here and there, but is a bold new direction to take Marvel movies, with special thanks to Sam Raimi. Wanda Maximoff is a compelling villain with understandable but twisted motivation. I highly recommend this movie, though it isn't their best. Expand

Although there might be too many Visual effects, as 90% of the runtime is just that. The plot has its problems and doesn't focus enough on characters but mostly on action sequences and VFX. Enjoyable performance from Benedict Cumberbatch. Doctor Strange is mostly dealing with his relationship with Christine. Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda does a great job as an emotionally broken villain. Xochitl Gomez's Chavez gives an interesting introduction to the character and her story. The movie has a scary yet funny vibe on some level with lots of multiversal stuff and a bunch of new characters being introduced to MCU. It feels quite different from other films in the franchise and ultimately gives a decent introduction to the multiverse and what lies ahead. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a movie that is very divided between likes and dislikes, and I also know that this movie is not very, very good. But I liked this work. For once I know Sam Raimie forced the film to do this under pressure from Marvel.
Considering that, I think I made the movie more attractive than I thought...
First of all, I liked the horror and gore that was not seen in Marvel.
The Illuminati massacre scene was shocking and very intense
There are also several scenes that feel like Evil Dead, which can be a good experience for fans.
It is a movie with many shortcomings, but it also has attractive advantages! I can't say that I have to go see it, but it's a movie that I can still try.

We got a handful of variants and a couple cameos of character we mostly don't care about or may never see again. The trailer ruined the best cameo.
I like how Strange's relationship with Christine was handled and wrapped up.
I liked the villain and her motives, even if a little over the top at points.
That big cameo fight was the best part of the movie.

Raimi’s direction did feel refreshing as a larger part of the MCU but not enough to override the constant cliches, conveniences, and just plain stupid actions of the characters. A small example of this is a scene I’ll describe in an analogy to keep it spoiler free. There’s a bad guy robbing a store. The clerk behind the counter tells the bad guy the other clerk is armed. The robber proceeds to shoot the other clerk. Why would you ever tell the bad guy who was armed? Stuff like this happens constantly in the film. Other complaints is that the villain was too powerful, America Chavez was heavily underutilized, the CGI seemed off (jarringly so) and unnecessary in places, and so on. C-/D+ Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I won't be among those who seem to be forgiving most of the flaws of this film because it was directed by Sam Raimi, and while there are points where his influence is noticeable, this film is 100% Marvel.

As far as I can remember this is perhaps the first sequel that basically drops you into the story expecting you to be fully aware of everything that has happened in the MCU, mostly because it's the first of the films of Phase 4 that makes a connection with the Disney+ shows.

While this is something that is commonly understood by anyone watching a film in this franchise, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is one that has nothing, absolutely nothing to stand on its own.

Now the entertainment is still there, now more watered down but still effective to the degree to which it works, but I think Marvel's idea for this story was more of a tie-in for what's next and to give some fan service to their hardcore fanboys who now look desperate to see cameos from other franchises and of course ''new characters''. You'll know what I mean when you see it.

My biggest problem lies in trying to understand why they decided to make Wanda Maximoff the villain. I don't know if Marvel had nothing left for her after Wandavision and by the looks of it even with that bad ending, we won't be seeing her again for a while, if ever. A shame.
She was never given a chance to explode properly, even when she gets the spotlight here, she ends up relegated.

Good things and bad things, as with all MCU movies. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is not a major contribution to the saga, but gets the job done to keep the audience interested and excited, however briefly.

That being said, between this film's post-credits scene with Charlize Theron making her MCU introduction, talking about incursions, which are a big deal, and those of all the other films in this phase with the exception of Black Widow, I have no idea what Marvel Studios is up to.
Secret Wars? I don't think so. Too big, too complicated.
I guess we will find out sooner rather than later.

It goes without saying there's plenty of CGI laden effects present and a fair 'dollop' of action and tense moments throughout but I admit I'm no Marvel afficiando and so I didn't really follow the various intricacies where the various characters are concerned. I felt a bit disconnected to this film compared to what I remember of the first one, due to it being so centered away from the 'real world' (in New York or wherever) and more set in the various Marvel universes, as the title alludes to. I did enjoy it for the basic entertainment value but I imagine big fans of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) would enjoy this more than me. Even so, I reckon this film desveres a 3 star rating at the least. Benedict Cumberbatch gives a pretty decent performance, given the script and everything. It's hardly great but it's certainly ok. If your really into these kinds of films then yes I'd say it's worth seeing, if not then perhaps not, that's about all I can say really. Expand

I feel like this movie focused more on cameos and fan service than it did on good writing. It sort of gave me the vibe of watching pre-MCU superhero movies from the mid-2000's, back when they were noticeably cheesier.

That being said it's still a fun and visually-stunning movie. Doctor Strange is great. It's nice to see more of his relationship with Christine. America Chavez is sort of a meh 5/10 character who seems better suited for a MCU TV show as opposed to a main feature movie.

Ever since Endgame it feels like every movie - even standalone ones like Doctor Strange or Shang-Chi - have to involve some huge Avengers-level threat. I feel this is unnecessary, especially considering some of the best MCU movies (Captain America: Winter Solider) were much "smaller" movies. If every movie involves some colossal universe-level threat, then it won't feel that special when you try to assemble the Avengers again in the future. Why even assemble them at all? This is the 12th time the universe has been threatened just this year alone.

It's a good Sam Raimi movie, with Horror like Moon Knight but it doesn't fell like a Doctor Strange Movie. Also the Title "Multiverse of Madness" is wrong. This Movie is a sequel to WandaVision, that's all. The characters travel just a few times in the Multiverse and that is not even the plot. The Plot is "Wanda has to let go his Kids". And the movie doesn't have a end. Yeah it's MCU but Doctor Strange 2 isn't really a Movie. It's a "trailer" for the future projects. You should watch the Movie on Disney plus, sorry. Expand

This is one of the few Marvel movies that I“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” was… Different. That’s not to say it was bad, it just hits differently: This is certainly a very "gory" movie, as far as Marvel movies go anyway. This is one of the few Marvel movies that I feel actually deserved it’s PG-13 rating (Most of them are “PG-13 for babies”). The whole film felt like a grimdark horror movie with some good ol’ “Marvel Pizazz” The first "Doctor Strange" movie treated us with some of the best visual effects in any MCU film. The kaleidoscope aesthetic was something to behold. Tragically, the kaleidoscope effects only appear once or twice in the whole movie. We did get a smorgasbord of other visual effects to feast on however, so I guess I can’t complain too much.

And, as for the narrative… It was a bit “all over the place” for me. I know that it’s a story about the Multiverse (it’s right there in the title) but the story is very disjointed, Multiverse or no Multiverse. Everything felt a bit “stitched together,” which I believe is due to a lot of reshoots. I feel like these mishaps negatively effected America Chaves’ character. This movie is the characters debut, and both her intro and developments in this movie felt rushed. Hopefully she can make some sort of recovery in later films

“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” was a mixed bag of good and bad elements. Give it a watch, but don’t bring super young kids to see it. 6/10

I really can’t see myself being excited to go see a Marvel film any time soon, and I honestly agree (with whoever I’ve seen mention this) that the MCU might have reached its peaked with Infinity War/Endgame.

There's some really cool concepts, ideas, and imagery here but overall as a film its disappointing. The film soars when Sam Raimi is let loose and able to inject his horror style into it, and the film falls flat when its falls back into the same tired bland MCU formula. -Boring action scenes (The strongest sorcerer on Earth is struggling to defeat an octopus that doesn't seem very strong. What a joke.)
-Just trying to fill holes in the plot with a multiverse

The focus is on Wanda's arc which is the same arc she went through in WandaVision. It always felt like Doctor Strange is just there to tell wanda to stop because he is incapable of stopping her in any way. So he is just there telling her to stop. And he does not really have an arc that expands on the first movie or from his decision in endgame and infinity war. The movie hints that maybe it was gonna be about questioning doctor strange's morals but it doesn't. The focus is always on whether wanda will realize the end does not justify the means and never explores the kind of man doctor strange is in any way. Expand

The first half is a generic and dull slog -- barely showcasing the visual flourishes director Sam Raimi is known for. You would be forgiven for questioning why a director of Raimi's caliber was required at all.

However, with the second half, Doctor Strange 2 remembers this is a Sam Raimi film, and the director is allowed to utilize his knack for weird, funny horror in ways that feel right at home for the director of Evil Dead. Still, even at its best, Doctor Strange 2 is a middling effort for Marvel -- coming no where near reaching the heights of Sam Raimi's terrific Spider-Man films.

When comparing it with it's predecessor (which is already a fanservice film in itself), this, to me, didn't feel like it hit the mark. There was just always something missing, rushed.
The new character's only development serves purely as a plot device, the cameos which were the biggest hype for the movie were criminally humilliated and underused; and the power scaling of some characters is way off than what the MCU already established. You can expect to enjoy this movie but if you had big expectations, try lowering them a bit and you'll definitely have a ride watching this, as it's another epic Marvel superhero movie.

I LOVED original Dr strange (right below Cpt America-not including the Avengers movies). Why? Because they told the story for what they were. No woke. No agenda behind the story. Just a great story for what they were (until later were they actually did started to do all this). Anyhow, this movie was....well a bit meh. Really I should give it a 5, but some of the cinematography, music, and SOME of the cgi was good. So, extra point. But, that's where it stops. The acting, besides Dr strange and Scarlett, was just overacted and kinda tropey. Did I mention woke? Yep, now it's not in the background-it part of the story. When this is introduced, I literally hear people in the audience either laugh (as well as I did along a "u gotta be kidding me"), snicker, or comment "of course." Does Disney not get it? Yes. We ALL know you're "woke," but does it always have to be a point of contention in movies now? Cam we just have great storytelling (and acting) without this being a thing. Did I mention? Woke. The males (including Strange) are either dumb, underpowered, or have little to no use. Girl power? GIRL POWER ALL THE WAY.....so sick of it. All the girls are apparently the strongest in the whole movie. Gotta be kidding me.... ALMOST FORGOT....plot holes KILL any sense of urgency. Shame. just wait for it until D+ streams it. Maybe then it will be worth it. So sad. I should know better than to expect anything else from disney messing with stories for agenda's sake.

I think the movie was pretty average, I didn’t really see growth in Strange’s character as he asks the question “are you happy?” But doesn’t really come to a conclusion. I have more qualms with the movie but that would be nit picky. My major problem is that I’m not a big fan of Sam Raimi’s directive style so this movie wasn’t really made for me, but all in all it’s a really enjoyable film and I think it’s a good watch. Expand

Marvel's attempt to make more mature movie results in a rushed movie with forced darkness which is too dark for the typical marvel audience yet quite not dark enough for the mature audience. I will not deny that the movie has its moments but those are over way before the climax. The use of cameos has been terrible in the movie. The way Illuminati are introduced and killed is just preposterous. Whenever they tried building up an epic scene, they destroyed the intensity with crappy and cheesy jokes every time. Overall an okay film to watch. Expand

It was hard to follow the plot and although I like strong villains, I feel like Wanda was just too overpowered. I thought this movie was alright. Definitely not my favourite Marvel movie, not even my favourite in this Phase of Marvel movies, but it definitely wasn't as bad as people are saying it is.

The ending felt a bit rushed, with some character arcs not closing off, and if you look at it as a legitimate horror movie it definitely falls flat. However, if you look at it as a Doctor Strange sequel, a WandaVision sequel, or an evolution of Loki's Multiverse crisis, despite some story threads not being utilised as well as they could be, it's a slightly spooky, family-friendly movie with a really fun premise and brilliant acting, not to mention a good step forward in the wider MCU.

Benedict Cumberbach returns as the mystical magician and is joined by a few other heroes, all of whom only have gestural powers, which means their conflicts have them slinging fierce rays at each other. After a fun opening sequence involving a giant one-eyed octopus, the rest of the action takes place among various types discussing the multiverse a lot. Eventually, they spend their time in a massive quantity of attractive visual effects. While the pacing never lags, the confusing mythology and noisy battles eventually merge into one long, unexciting fracas. Still trying to wrap my head around this one for better or worse. Directed by Sam Raimi (director of the original Spider-Man trilogy of all people), Dr. Steven Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) find himself thrust into the multiverse as he tries to protect a young multiverse jumper (Xochitl Gomez) from a possessed and deranged Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) whose Scarlet Witch persona has taken over her mind. Just when you thought things couldn't get much tripier than the first Doctor Strange film, along comes this one to throw everything that film had to offer, along with the rest of the MCU as a whole into complete disarray. This film is quite a mess, and not exactly a good one either sadly. While it surprisingly didn't overindulge on fan service too much with the exception of a very particular sequence towards the middle of the film that is sure to please several eager fans holding out hope for certain cameos, the story itself is still so scattershot and all over the place from start to finish that it becomes almost headache-inducing to follow. There's very little in the way of character/story development here as well. Furthermore, this is EASILY what I'd consider to be both the darkest and even most violent MCU film to date, with several uncalled for brutal and violent deaths that left me with a very bad taste in my mouth, as well as several frightening/jump scare moments straight out of a horror film, which makes sense considering this is Raimi we're talking about here. He's come a long way from his 'Evil Dead' films, but nonetheless manages to incorporate their atmosphere and style into this, but it just doesn't seem to fit or vibe well with a Marvel superhero film in my opinion. Performance-wise Cumberbatch of course once again nails the role he was born to play here, and even Elizabeth Olsen is in top form and creepy as hell here. Several of her scenes in particular are sure to serve as nightmare fuel for several people! Newcomer Gomez also turns in a great performance here, and returning cast members from the first film, such as Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, and Rachel McAdams are also great! Unfortunately, none of them really helped me enjoy this cluster of a film much more. Overall, it's not particularly inspired, and the story/concept is a mess, but it still nonetheless gives an interesting idea of what direction things might go in the MCU from here when all's said and done. Whether that direction is good or bad is beyond me though, and I still consider this a rare misstep within the MCU. It left me feeling exasperated moreso than exhilarated by the end of it. Expand

The handover from Iron Man to Doctor Strange is not a simple transit of the trust from technoscience to spirituality: Marvel's spirituality is that of a Potter for the millennials (as well as the recent "The Batman" was a "Twilight" for the 40-year-olds), magic requires formulas, mysticism demands ritualistic arts, spells and sorceries must be carried out with ridiculous maneuvers of arms and hands that have nothing to share with naked and pure magical thinking. In parallel, the phantasmagoric explosion of the Raimi's staging corresponds to a miserable impoverishment of the motivations of the characters reduced to a spit, this time the entire multiverse is at risk because of a woman unable to live with the parental mourning of her two children. And the most terrifying thing about the film is the conclusive judgment expressed: "Sometimes, I do wonder about my other lives. Yet I remain grateful in this one, even with its tribulations." They always believe they are saving the world with their superpowers by renouncing to change it for the better: Disney opposes the Eleventh Thesis on Feuerbach and divulges dystopia.

The horror aspect was a poor choice to me. For a franchise that has been appealing to mainstream and approachable to all this will definitely impact how many people want to watch it.

However, the bigger problems for me were elsewhere. Pacing of the film felt weird but it's hard for me to describe why. The multiverse was also seemingly full of plotholes and oddities that were annoying. How some of the characters were treated was also bad choice in my opinion.

And here comes the spoilery part of the review in case you accidentally opened this review. I don't know is the success of MCU Infinity Saga and a greed resulted by that or is it just trying to appeal to the most HC Marvel fans but there have been way too many cameos lately. Be it the X-mens, Daredevils, Kingpins or Venoms the urgent need to make every Marvel related movie or series ever created relevant to the MCU is a bad choice that makes the already excessive "list of movies and series to watch before seeing this Marvel movie" even more ridiculous. Here the cameos were also mostly brought in to be killed off nearly instantly and it felt poorly executed.

All in all the movie left me surprisingly cold even through I have loved MCU and Doctor Strange before. Because of the horror aspects I don't think I ever want to see it again even though I didn't actually hate the movie.

So another film from Sam! I really liked the first one and the visual effects of the first looks like a high budget film...But here in the second looks like a low budget horror film.

I have feeling like i was watching the Evil Dead and the older version. Marvel here lost a good opportunity with the Multiverse here botching a movie that should be the caliber of the spider man no way home and the avengers!

I really liked all the cameos but i wish we should have more ....

5 right in the middle ...When Evil Dead meets Dr Strange!
