This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly Marvel movies are so bland and crappy now I will just leave this formula here so you can make Marvel at home rather than go out for it:

Step 1: Take a popular well loved character give them their own movie but make sure they play second fiddle to literally every other character

Step 2: Introduce characters like America Chavez which no one likes or wants and skip literally 100s of better Marvel characters with decades of back stories because we gotta get in the newer woker characters

Step 3: Blow the whole budget on bad CGI throw it all over the place until no one knows whats going on and make sure if you didn't watch the previous movies/series you're extra confused (FYI I watched almost all those still didn't make sense)

Step 4: Either grab an obscure one off villain or hey to switch it up why not destroy an existing hero and give her totally wack motivations to an insane nonsensical level (Seriously I get Wanda wants her kids back but she was never this much of a psychopath before at least on purpose)

Step 5: Introduce characters people actually like such as Mr. Fantastic and Professor X. Kill them immediately god forbid they might start mansplaining or something. (Also why does Mr. Fantastic state Dr. Strange is from Earth-616? That is the comic book continuity not the MCU which is Earth-199999. Seriously Marvel you can't keep that straight how do you expect fans to?)

Step 6: have the crappy character defeat the main villain for our hero because she couldn't control her powers but Dr. Strange gave her a pep talk so shes good to go now! Also defeat is a strong word more like show her the error of her ways or some BS.

Step 7: Profit???? At least until you've sucked every last drop out of the superhero teet and the audience stops coming because all the characters they love have been pasted over by the newer woker versions. Unfortunately with each passing title it feels less Marvel and you feel the Disney claws sinking in deeper.… Expand

Cringey, campy and cheesy. It's a movie that is hard to take seriously. The dialogue and the way it's delivered especially when trying to take itself seriously is laughable. Not a good movie, in fact it was bad. The assassination of the character wanda was done really bad, especially coming from wandavision. Why doesnt Disney have enough confidence in Wanda or LatinX? Thats really sad to see. I understand now why iTunes removed the Multiverse from the “Movies” page. I would actually give this a negative rating if it were possible.

This film was absolute crap. I had to force myself to watch to the end in disbelief, hoping against all hope that it will eventually get better, but being disappointed at every single turn.

There are no words to effectively express how poorly this movie sucked ass. I was excited to see the sequel to Doctor Strange, but instead, I was force-fed what has become all-too-familiar Disney crap. As others have said, this was not a movie about Doctor Strange, but instead two very poorly developed female characters. And I’m OK with well-developed heroines. But at least be honest with your viewership. I feel violated - like I was bait and switched with this piece of dung movie.

Wait, what? You mean you didn’t watch the Disney+ series about WandaVision ? Neither did I, which is why I was completely ****ing lost the first half of the movie.

I feel sorry for the actors in this movie who had to deal with such a poorly written script. Horrid. Flat. Predictable. Lame. Barf. … Expand

I didnt finish this movie i didnt even know why i started to watch this movie! Disney has killed my fun in marvel with bad writing, bad movies with all the same templates. I stick to my comics all written before 2000 , no woke bs , just good stories.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Considering the source, Disney, this movie was nauseatingly predictable. You just have to remember that the fanatical feminists at Disney ALWAYS feature females that beat males. I predicted the Scarlet Witch would defeat Dr. Strange, and she did beat Strange and ALL of his minions. I also predicted that Doctor Strange would obtain the book of Vishanti, but that would still be insufficient to defeat the female Scarlett Witch, and that the female America would eventually defeat the witch. The entire premise of the Scarlett Witch wanting to be the mother of those two boys was ridiculous. The special effects where what I would describe as bizarre, with star shaped portals to other universes. And the dead Dr. Strange was a macabre touch. Of course, a multiverse allows Hollywood to go berserk with moral relativism. Like every other MCU movie since Disney's takeover, it features dominant females and emasculated males (Look at what happened to Thor). Disney has ruined the MCU!… Expand

Bringing Sam Raimi back after a million years was a mistake. I'm usually an MCU fanboy but this movie sucks hard. Should have been a fun view into the multiverse, but felt like watching an hour of the constant blundering in a bad horror movie. Instead of Doctor Strange doing clever things we get tediously predictable CGI fireball battles and boring dialogue. Really can't stress enough how bad the dialogue is, there's a lot of decision making that's just straight up brain-dead and then minutes of pointless squabbling that follows.

Also who made the decision to bring in America Chavez AKA the Marvel Universe's least liked character, (maybe Sam Raimi?) And the actor they used for her was pretty bad- there's a certain fainting scene that was highschool play caliber. It's one of the least forgettable scenes in the movie because it actually made me groan, where the rest of it failed to elicit a reaction.

Compared to "Spiderman: No Way Home" this movie is a joke.… Expand

There is no ratcheting tension, nearly no tension at all.
It is a straight shot with no twists or turns.
The "Multiverse" was just a few very flashy quick scenes; realistically the film is just set in Universe A and Universe B.
The subversion of the trailers was probably the best part of the film.

The film is very pretty and it has some great alternate character camoes, but ultimately it will leave you feeling hollow and wondering where your time went.… Expand

One of the worst movies I have seen in my life. The script is terrible. It's much too fast paced and makes no sense. It seems like they wanted to shove 13 storylines worth of movies into one. Not only does it suffer from a run time that could be cut about 30 minutes shorter, but it also suffers from lack of character building and poor use of the characters we have met so far. The use of the Illuminati and the characters that composed the group felt like a complete and utter waste. We had barely any time to spend with these characters and the time we did spend made them feel unlikable and boring. The acting was just fine and was nothing to be marveled at. The only stand out performance was from Wong, Strange, and Wanda. The film was a utter disappointment and a waist of time. Please save your time and money.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What an absolute mess. Bringing Sam Raimi onto this was a huge mistake in my opinion. His style of directing is super dated and too campy. It completely ruined the immersion and feel of this MCU movie. Some of the camera angles used and "slap-stick" styled scenes (like the hotdog stand guy) seemed so out of place and unnecessary and just... not funny. They throw in a new character, America, without allowing us to get attached and expected us to give a **** that she's being hunted. They barely gave us anything to work with as far as her story and personality goes. Between the atrocious writing and her Disney Channel Original Movie level acting, I absolutely HATED her anytime she was in the scene. Don't even get me started on the "fainting" tea scene. Her being surrounded by amazing actors and actresses made her lack of acting ability glaringly obvious. I also found it annoying that it's basically required to watch all of WandaVision to fully grasp Scarlet Witch's motivation, which the motivations for her actions STILL don't make sense. She seems to have completely forgotten Vision, someone that ACTUALLY existed in her universe, for "her" two kids that she made up in her head. I could keep going on but it's just too much. Story was garbage, America's acting was garbage, writing was garbage, the WHOLE thing was absolute garbage. The only good thing that came from watching this movie is knowing that I didn't pay to see it in theaters like I originally intended. Only giving it a one and not a zero because of some of the visual effects and Mr. Benedict Cinnamonbun.… Expand

It has a lot of action and good visuals omitting a few instances of cgi that pulled me out of the movie because it looked off (think of that infamous Black Widow scene).

So many things that were in the trailer made it seem like we were getting a different movie. Major characters that we thought would play a part wrapped up in a couple of minutes. The ending was super anticlimactic, I had such high hopes for this movie and they may have been what did it in for me. Some fun ideas do not make up for the poor writing (90s level cheese), poor directing (no one is acting nearly as urgent or concerned as they should be), inconsistent power scaling, extremely dated jokes and predictability of it all. I am sure it is tough making a movie that both 10 yer olds and adults watch, but this was unreasonably dumbed down...even for the kids.

Than there is the poor CGI.... green screen lines and shadows everywhere. You would expect better from this level of studio.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've not been more disappointed in a Marvel movie as with Dr. Strange part 2. This film is going to be proof in film schools for the next decade that you can take a great group of actors, (Minus one major character) and a good director, just to waste all of their time with poor quality writing. As for the character of America Chavez, I'm not sure if it was the writing, directing, or acting but the character was horrendous. The idea was so poorly carried out that she dragged down every scene that she was in. It wasn't that the concept was the problem, but how it was portrayed at every step was laughably insulting. This film couldn't even remain consistent with the last major Marvel movie, let alone provide any sort of logical consistence. Wanda is not a sympathetic villain, she is psychotic and the writers have a strange infatuation with her that continues since Wandavision. Dr. Strange was written to be extremely intelligent and analytical in his prior film, where his arrogance was off putting but something that the character could get away with. Now he just comes off as simply foolish. They make Wong look incompetent and little more than a joke. The cameos were all rubbish and did little more than to make establish characters look stupid. They were trying to make Wanda look like a huge threat, but to me it came off as these supposedly great heroes were all jack asses. This could have been a great movie. They had very talented actors and a great idea, along with a director that could have pulled it off. However the writing was so piss poor that it was bungled at the corporate level. The director had touches that showed through and created some fantastic visuals. It's the reason that this film made it a 3 on my scale. But he was so held back by Disney that it was a waste of his talent. I wonder if there is a Sam Raimi cut?

This movie could have been great. The cast was almost perfect, and with a different actor for America C. and writers that had the skill and freedom to create a compelling script it could have been a home run. Instead we get a lack luster film with actors that do their best to shovel garbage while a kid without enthusiasm or an idea of how to help just gets in their way. This is directed by a guy that has his hands tied behind his back by corporate with one eye blindfolded. All of whom are shackled to a script from a writers room staffed with people lacking the interest to remember major plot details from the last film in the franchise, and missing the life experience and skill to make a compelling narrative outside of an instruction manual for a toaster. And a host of details from major plot points down to the catering from lunch are likely being dictated by Disney board rooms. The Marvel franchise has a huge problem, no matter how much money is thrown at something you cannot make it good. You NEED writers that care enough about it that they remember the major plot points from the prior movies! They need to remain internally consistent during the current iteration of your 'multiverse' narrative. If they cannot do that then they lack the drive to create compelling stories filled with interesting characters. This isn't just from a single problem. Are there signs of to much corporate control over the creators? Yes there is. Are there signs that the writers lack the life experience to incorporate plot points in complex and subtle ways? Definitely! This movie threw a lot at you and then used the tired old 'subvert expectations' excuse when the story lines just didn't stick.… Expand

The first Strange was just the right amount of well executed visual effects, this one is just brain-melting. It's overflowing with it, and while it's good-looking quality wise - it adds nothing. The story is, just like the latest Spider-Man, very, very bare-bones and could've easily been condensed in half of this movie's length if you really wanted to make it "just story".
I understand the appeal of putting characters like Captain Carter, Professor Xavier or, even, John Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic in the movie - but please let them do something that adds to the story at the very least.

It's so, so disappointing that the talent of Elisabeth Olsen, Benedict Cumberbatch and Xochitl Gomez was wasted in this dragging VFX-fest of a movie.… Expand

Absolutely blows my mind that people are giving this movie a 10/10, I think this is the worst Marvel movie I have ever seen. Right from the very first scene the CGI is noticeably awful, and the acting is mediocre from basically everyone. Actors, special effects are great, but the script and story are horrible, it is a horror movie and feels to evil. I liked the previous movies they where in but this story is ugly. It was so bad my wife and I walked out near the end.

Ridiculous storyline... Torturing an entire town of people cannot be justified just because Wanda is a woman...Tony & Natasha sacrificed their lives...Wanda just lost her robo lover... Peter who's way younger than her lost more in couple of days than she did in her entire life & this all happens in MCU's continuity. Wong even though is the Sorcerer Supreme is incompetent, America Chavez isn't a great/well recieved character even in the comics to begin with & this movie couldn't help to redeem her. Guess according to Hollywood strong female characters can only come at the cost of strong male characters. Diversity & powerful women is great in movies and all but adding diversity & women empowerment just for the sake of it only makes the stories worse. It really is a shocker that Sam Raimi directed this.… Expand

The movie itself was disjointed, a majority of it unimportant, and literally just felt like a sequel the Wandavision. What was the point of the Minotaur? Why was Professor X in the Illuminati? Why did all it take in the end was to tell America ‘you got this girl’? Why didn’t anyone try that before?? Why did they lean so heavily into the comparison between Wanda and Dr Strange when there wasn’t one? This movie was so full of plot holes, and unimportant scenes, that I can’t even list them all. I just kept waiting for the movie to start, and then it ended.… Expand
