I knew that this is not going to be the bigger deal that everyone thought it'd be. there is nothing to hate and it is not even boring but this should be a Scarlet Witch movie. for those who are going to watch this just lower your expectations.

The plot and the script may have their issues like a lot of Marvel movies, but just because of Sam Raimi's amazing direction, the music, the film editing and the acting, especially Elizabeth Olsen's incredible performance, it's worth to watch.

i have no idea why they kept on talking before releas that this is the scariest film yet when instead they should of said "its PG 13" in the sense that it contains deadpool like kills and blood.

They show almost nothing about the Multiverse, it isn't explored, and it doesn't have a **** about madness. The plot is too simple: a superhero who wants to be in another universe where she can be happy and will kill anyone who gets in the way, to finally reconsider, end up good, and fix everything (nothing original) Expand

After seeing No Way Home, I thought that the MCU had nothing interesting to do. That may still be true, but at least I know that a director like Sam Raimi can elevate an otherwise unremarkable experience.

All the signature campiness and excellent cinematography is here, and Raimi has clearly not missed a beat in the decade since his last directing gig. The movie still suffers from what the other MCU films suffer from: bad plot devices, 2D characterization, and inconsistent logic, but I think Raimi elevates the experience in ways no factory-filmmaker could have.

The Marvel-heads that were expecting a more generic experience will be sorely disappointed.

The unfortunate thing is that it takes a lot of time introducing things and then leaving them behind a minute later, there's not a lot of consequence in this movie, and not a ton of that will define Marvel's future and this phase, which is this phase' problem tbh. However, the stuff you have on the side to sort of distract you is absolutely fantastic. Sam Raimi also is a very interesting and great choice, if they gave him someone darker, I think he could do a lot of great things. He actually would be perfect for Morbius, Ghostrider could work as well. This movie was a great watch that really flew by and I plan on seeing it again in theaters, likely D-Box. Expand

It fits in the MCU, but the directing and camerawork build the distinct comic book-y, classic horror-inspired, darkly humorous tone that could only come from Raimi. Like his original superhero Darkman (1990) and the Spider-Man trilogy, this film actually feels like a nutty, fast-paced comic book adventure. Got me reading the original Doctor Strange stories from Steve Ditko/Stan Lee in the '60s! It's clear that Raimi and screenwriter Michael Waldron (Rick & Morty, Loki) are passionate about the character and had fun with the possibilities of the multiverse. There were just enough easter eggs and references to other Marvel properties to whet franchise fans' appetites. Make no mistake, however; they were used at just the right times and with appropriate brevity. Multiverse of Madness still felt like a Doctor Strange solo outing, all crossover madness aside. All in all, I will definitely catch this again in IMAX before the week is done. Can't wait to buy the blu ray and add it to my Raimi home media collection! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a visual spectacular, one of the coolest and most interesting movies I've ever seen especially visually. Sam Raimi's direction was outstanding, I loved the incorporation of horror elements. The writing was phenomenal especially the character development with Wanda and Stephen. The visual effects were remarkable, just ever minute of the movie they were amazing and one scene that really stuck out to me was when America and Stephen were traveling fastly through the Multiverse. The performances were exceptional especially from Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Cumberbatch, Xochitl Gomez, and Rachel McAdams. The music was superb, I loved the different styles of music used. The makeup and hairstyling was excellent especially on Benedict Cumberbatch (specifically zombified him) and Elizabeth Olsen. The costumes were terrific especially ones wore by Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen. This was an A+ movie and my favorite movie of 2022 so far. Expand

Raimi hasn't made a movie in a long time, and I think it shows... and I think the story also made very corrosive choices. Don't get me started on the dark strange battle - and the final end-credit scene (which I'm sure is Raimi's thumbing his nose at Marvel and Disney... but more importantly it showed how little respect he had for us the viewers). Pundits and die hard fans were clearly expecting an allusion to popular Marvel Comics series such as the House of M and clearly the time when various other 'studio licensed' properties finally joined the MCU. But so far, they have been disappointed. Clearly that without the Pandemic, we would have reached that pinnacle by now. Here, clearly Marvel is 'clearing up their' backlog first; films that were supposed to be released in 2020 /2021 slate but delayed due to Covid. It culminates in this film, which rumor has it was rewritten to fit in certain 'newly added' plot points in the Disney+ series. However, what made this project shine through is the commitment of of both Cumberbatch and Olsen, who clearly are 'game' to what Marvel is doing and give it their all. As such, this flick may feel disjointed but at just 2 hours time, its pacing issues is not as prevalent. But sometimes I wonder, if it went through as planned before Covid, we may have one of the top tier Marvel films out there. Expand

I applaud the journey of the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the horror genre. Elizabeth Olsen is no doubt the star of this movie.

So II enjoyed the first Doctor Strange film even though it followed the same format of superhero origin stories. The exploration of the magic side was just an interesting aspect of the universe and I just love how they portrayed it visually. So I was gutted when the director of the original, Scott Derrickson, left the project. However, it was then revealed that legendary director Sam Raimi, director of the Evil Dead and Spider-Man trilogy, would direct it and I was super excited again. So does it deliver a multiverse of fun or is it a multiverse of dullness?

Firstly, this is definitely a Sam Raimi movie. All the usual flairs that you would expect from him are completely in here and I love it. The stylistic way he shoots a scene, the way he portrays New York feels like what he did in Spider-Man, the slight goofiness, the horror elements and jump scares are all here. There are some great visuals during the magic sequence and multiverse stuff. There are also some horrific scenes that genuinely surprised me as it felt too gruesome for a PG 13 movie. It's a Sam Raimi film through and through and his direction elevates this movie to new heights. There are also some great action set pieces that were very creative and a blast to watch. The music is composed by Danny Elfman and he does a great job. There is a fun action sequence with the use of music and Danny does a great job with the music score to illustrate that battle. The actors are also all doing a great job. Benedict Cumberbatch is still the perfect Doctor Strange and delivers on every scene. I also love how he portrays the other Doctor Strange variants from other universes. Benedict Wong is great and his chemistry with the other Benedict is still fun to watch. Rachel McAdams returns as Christine but unlike the first film she has more to do this time and I appreciate that since she is wonderful in the role. Xochitl Gomez is good as America Chavez and I like her interaction with Doctor Strange. The other supporting cast does a good job as well even with their small screen time. The biggest standout is Elisabeth Olsen as Wanda. She does a phenomenal job in her performance. I just love how she did in every scene from the emotional to the scary. She is the core of this film.

However, Doctor Strange is not the primary focus and has to share screen time with both Wanda and Chavez. Unfortunately, the characterization is lacking which makes them all feel one dimensional. The pacing slows down around the second act due to a lot of walking and talking. The ending is very Sam Raimi but the impact of it is lessened because of the mid credit scene.

Overall, I am thrilled by the return of Sam Raimi to the superhero genre. While the screenplay lets the movie down a bit, Sam Raimi was still able to make this movie feel unique. It's clear that the MCU didn't restrain Sam's wackiness and I am glad about that. Thanks to his amazing direction and the terrific performance from the cast, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ends up being extremely fun to watch.

There are some parallels to director Sam Raimi's earlier films with books being at the center of the story. However, they ultimately they come off as little more than macguffins used to drive the plot to develop deeper ideas surrounding loss. Because of the theme of loss there is a lot of character development for Strange and his supporting cast, but Olson's performance as Scarlet Witch really takes center stage for me. The visuals were spectacular and the music, by Danny Elfman, worked very well for its more macabre art design. The only thing that I'd say is this is not for most younger kids. If you wouldn't let them watch a classic slasher flick then this will have moments that are too scary for them. Expand

The sequel to Doctor Strange is the great and most distinctive film of the MCU universe. It's a purely comic book movie that isn't taken seriously, and Sam Raimi has done an incredibly grotesque job here - and in my eyes, that's the only reason why the movie works so well. Without him, it would be an ordinary soulless Marvel projection. The film is not taken seriously, a hidden gem of comic book movies just like Thor Ragnarok. The work with the effects, the camera and the playfulness of the whole film is unbelievable. This is a film by Sam Raimi. And it's just your fault that you got carried away by speculation from the internet and you believed every nonsense about the film. I went to the movie with a clear head, I didn't watch the trailers, I didn't take the speculation seriously and I LOVE IT. You know, I'm sorry the movie crashes because of your mistake. It's a great film and I believe that one day it will receive a much better reception. One of the most original and fun MCU movie. The only downside is for me the misunderstanding to remove more than 40min. of the film. The beginning of the film suffers a lot from the editing. For Sam Raimi's fan 9/10. For the average viewer 7.7 / 10 just because of the editing situation. Expand

The movie avoids overwhelming the audience by only diving so deep into the Multiverse. It straddles a fine line between horror and a regular action flick and keeps the best features of both. The decisions made with Wanda are a little jarring at first but make for a less predictable movie in the long run.

I loved seeing America a Chávez get introduced to the MCU and cannot wait to see what she has to offer in the future.

I find a lot of reviews irritating and not understandable.

People blame this movie for the high expectations they had.
Every movie should reach the expectations of the viewer, but in this case the expectations where simply unrealistic.

No MCU movie has faced such high expectations, not even No way home or Endgame.
This is the fault of the promotion.

All fans knew that old characters would appear in no way home. This was the big selling point. Multiverse of Madness promised us the Multiverse.
A Multiverse gives endless opportunities thanks to the comics.
So we all speculated into the impossible.
We wanted that all our dreams come true.

The trailers should have settled our expectations but they did the opposite.

Wrong promotion shouldn't be part of a review.
Only the movie matters.

The movie has undeniable weaknesses but it also got a lot of strong parts.

Never was a MCU movie so brave and refreshing.
Sam Raimi's new ideas and his style is very present, when we start our journey through the Multiverse.
I hope that more Marvel movies will try new genres and ideas. The little horror elements where fitting.
The camara is more alive than in any other MCU movie. The camara style is horror influenced and you can see the similarities to other Sam Raimi movies.
The actors are great as always and I liked America Chavez.
She was very comic accurate.
I also liked the cameos. The weren't necessary but cool for fans.

Some dialogues and moments where strange and awkward like in every Sam Raimi movie.
For me as Sam Raimi fan this wasn't something distracting, but I know a few people wich didn't like this kinda stuff.
There is also to much exposition, which wasn't important for the story.
Also the beginning of the movie has problems with the pacing.
I think the story had to be rewritten because of release changes.
Sometimes the VFX are really great and topnotch, but sometimes the VFX feels unfinished.
Marvel should have take more time for that.

I really liked the movie and it is one of the best MCU movies in my opinion besides the negative points.
The movie was really refreshing.
When you watch the movie with realistic expectations you will be blown away.

A must see for every marvel and Raimi fan.

Sam Raimi’s horror notes make this film feel both familiar and edgy. Yes it is corny and cheesy, but there are deep underlying themes of dealing with grief and learning to be happy, no matter your circumstance/accomplishments. And it doesn’t take itself too seriously, leaning into certain tropes with jokes and other dramatics. While this obviously isn’t an Oscar contending film, I loved it and was thoroughly entertained.

All around just a really great movie, though it does have its flaws and I understand why some people don't like it. It really does stumble a bit under the giant that is the Mcu, but manages to stand out quite nicely through the unique directorial style of Raimi. It truly is a Sam Raimi film inside of the Mcu, and for that I absolutely love it. I think that some people aren't liking this movie because they are disappointed that it's not cameo-paluza, but you don't need cameos to make a great movie. As long as you go in with your expectations checked in the cameos you will have a great time. Spoilers
I'm gonna do some diving here so strap in. Here are the things I'll be discussing
1. How great of a villain Wanda is
2. How cool the Illuminati is
3. Strange's character arc

The Scarlet Witch truly is a definitive villain as she started as one. I've seen a lot of people giving Wanda too much credit when it comes to her bad deeds, but they seem to forget that she started as a villain in Age of Ultron and has killed innocent people in the past, even if it was by accident. She truly is a tragic villian, which makes her even more compelling. I can't necessarily sympathize with her, but I believe many others can. This is not my idea, I got it from the YouTube channel "Sean Chandler Talks About" but he makes a great point in saying that her quest for her kids is like addiction. It gives you a narrow view of what is right and wrong and causes you to rationalize everything you are doing wrong that you otherwise would not. She is addicted to finding her kids, and she does many evil things to fulfill this addiction, just like many addicts might. I suppose you could relate to her if you were a mother as well, but I guess it's not the same since her children are a delusion. Okay, I know a lot of people disliked the Illuminati scene, but I thought it was near-perfect. My only honest complaint would be that Captain Marvel is the fiery ball from the trailer and not someone cool like Human Torch or Superior Iron Man. I freaked when I saw John Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic and loved seeing Black Bolt + Professor X. Captain Carter was pretty cool too I guess, but I mostly just kind of like the balls Marvel has to kill them 5 minutes after introducing them. It was a great way to show what Wanda is truly capable of and a great way to pump some more Sam Raimi horror out. Of course, if Krasinski is not officially cast as Mr. Fantastic in the main Mcu timeline I will absolutely hate the scenes with the Illuminati, but if not they are so sick. OK, last, but certainly not least, Strange's character arc. I think his character arc in this movie might be the single-most compelling across one movie in the entire Mcu (except maybe Iron Man's in his first movie). In Avengers: Infinity War Strange looks into hundreds of millions of alternate timelines to see which one they win. He finds the one and makes the call to save Tony's life and giving up an infinity stone in return. He then says "It was the only way." In the cold open of this movie with Defender Strange, he basically says the same thing before he's about to kill America. He says, "This is the only way" I believe. This sort of highlights the overwhelming arrogance that every Stephen Strange in every reality shares. They truly believe they know best. In the very next scene Strange talks to a man who asks him if there was any other way, since the man had lost his brother (and 2 cats) during the blip, in which he had disappeared. Strange is stumped by this. Christine, when they are talking, then tells him that it never would have worked between them because Strange always had to be holding the knife, which basically means he had to make all the tough decisions. This all comes to a head at the end of the movie when Strange is faced with a choice. Do things as he's always done them, believing that his way is the only way, and kill America Chavez, or let her decide her own fate. It would have been easier to kill America and waaay less risky, and she even asks him to kill her, but he doesn't because he realizes that there is another way, and that way is not for him to find, but for her. Though this leads him there, I think what truly proves that Strange is a changed, more competent and less arrogant man is when he bows to Wong, the sorcerer supreme, like he is supposed to. It closes out his arc perfectly in my opinion and leaves us with perhaps one of the greatest Mcu characters at this point. I know this is long, but I love this movie and I didn't know where else to share this. I am only giving it a 9/10 and not a 10/10 because of its flaws. If I were rating this out of pure enjoyment, I would give it a 10/10 because it was thoroughly entertaining.

One of the best Marvel movies yet! I went in with low expectations (since I’d heard it was just ok) and was pleasantly surprised by how great it was

Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olson are fantastic leads and both their characters have great arcs throughout the movie. Sam Raimi's directing is also great with some really fun shots and transitions + some of the most creative sequences in the entire MCU. As well, they finally got creative with Dr. Strange's magic as he does a lot of really cool and unique stuff throughout the movie. Danny Elfman's score is also great and fits the movie really well. The film was extremely good, do not pay any attention to the critics who ruined the film. The good acting of the actors and the effects were extraordinary.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of madness is a solid movie. Very enjoyable, minor plot holes and pacing issues but still very enjoyable. Well directed by Sam Rami, beautiful horror elements. The one major problem with the movie is that the movie is more surrounded upon Wanda Maximoff and less upon Doctor Strange. Expand

Filme com um enredo bom, mas poderia ser melhor. O filme é bem corrido que deixa a história não tão bem produzida

There are certain deaths in this movie that are just...wow, this is really the most violent movie in the MCU, and it is 100% the most violent entry in the MCU, perhaps stretching the boundary of what PG-13 really means. The acting is excellent, as it is in just about every MCU movie, and Cumberbatch plays so many characters, and he plays them all well. Olsen does really well too, though only plays one (technically two) character(s). Expand
