Streamers do not get me wrong by the title… the movie is madness alright but it’s just that much more murderous! Welcome back and to the long-awaited review for Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. You’ve got it this weekend Dr. StrangeStreamers do not get me wrong by the title… the movie is madness alright but it’s just that much more murderous! Welcome back and to the long-awaited review for Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. You’ve got it this weekend Dr. Strange 2 was finally released and MCU fans can finally let a sigh of relief taht the MCU Phases are still coming hot and fresh and all new tricks.

my biggest issue with the movie is that it glosses over the connection to No Way Home. It felt as if that was no significant or consequential time in the MCU. I mean Dr. Strange is pompous and flippant but it felt sooooooo … idk. And quite early in the movie he makes a decision that just seems so careless and devil may care attitude. It felt a bit weird. Other than that I felt the movie moved a bit too fast but I do appreciate the under 2 hour runtime. Under two hours and it felt like things were just moving so quickly. ALmost feels like you missed something and have to see it again. Quite refreshing i must admit and I do plan on seeing this again in short order. But let’s get to the good.

The movie is wild. The qualify this as madness and it was but it was even more so murderous. I mean from the trailer you can see how everything is literally unraveling on the screen, but the full movie takes it up a notch. The thing I’m most pleased by is that the trailer seems to show so much but the movie has so much more left in the tank. I was quite frightened this was just going to be What If come to live action. And while this movie definitely, touches What if tones, they are not derivative. I should’ve had more faith in Sam Raimi, Disney and Kevin Feige that they wouldn’t let us down. On top of that, the cast doesn’t let us down either. Benedict is all over and manages to keep his head straight. Elizabeth Olsen continues her great performance from WandaVision and really doubles down on the mad in this one. The newcomer who plays America Gomez, doesn’t add much but let’s see what we get from her character in the future. And all of the extra cast play their roles to a T. Was it all perfect? no. the directors or editors might have missed or should’ve used other takes but interestingly enough that makes me want to see the deleted scenes from this movie. They definitely whittled this movie down to be what it was which makes me think what crazy things didn’t make the cut.

All in all, I couldn’t imagine seeing Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness not on a big screen. The MCU put a ton of money, effort, and thought into the effects, cast, fanfare, etc. for this movie. Is it perfect? No. Will you be severely entertained and possibly grossed out or scared? Yes. You’re left thinking how and when does this fit io the bigger universe and what’s next! Grab a big box of popcorn and chow down as you enjoy this mad dash through the multiverse and MCU.

ThatRight behind No Way Home & Endgame, this movie entered my top 3. Although I can understand some of this movies criticism, I felt it established the plot pretty well and sequence to sequence, we understood where this movie was going. That doesn't make it predictable, that's just good writing. The cheesy lines where a nice touch and didn't over do it. Movie did leave a few questions unanswered but judging the movie as a whole, it was very enjoyable and the cameos where awesome. Some scenes left my jaw dropped and others had me enticed. Overall a good sequel and another step in the Multiverse chapter of the MCU. Expand

Dr. Strange is one of my favourite characters in the marvel universe. On the other hand, the producer really pushes the franchise on the edge of the credibility.

This movie is a solid 8 out of 10!

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse Of Madness is a uniquely odd, masterfully shot, predictably insane yet unexpected thrillride, that is unlike any other MCU movie before, yet it feels very familiar to the style of iconic horror director Sam Raimi.

Although expectations of some plethora of cameos, MCU-changing plotlines or an Avengers-like movie will not be met by many with this picture, I'm glad to say that I, as a MCU fan and as a viewer of different types of movies, got something better instead: a great standalone movie. Although, WandaVision and the previous MCU movies help as connective story-tissue to keep you up to date, it is very clear that Raimi intended this movie to be understood by even the most general of audiences that come to see this movie for some superhero fun.

This movie focuses on mainly two characters: Doctor Strange and Wanda Maximoff. The multiverse angle further proofs to be a plot device for said characters, as they embark on their own adventures throughout this movie, that give you quite a few unexpected turns and moments along the way.

America Chavez and Christine Palmer (played by Rachel McAdams) serve their purpose as solid co-leads, especially Chavez's MCU debut shows great potential with this character for future projects to come.

The movie thrives itself on unique fight scenes, visual trips but most importantly its creepy and scary vibe, that makes this entry in the MCU the scariest and most violent one yet! Especially for the younger viewers out there, prepare yourselves for jumpscares and quite a few gruesome deaths.

The only major complaint I have about this movie has got to be the script. Michael Waldron tried to both serve Raimis unique style and ambitions towards a more unique standalone superhero movie while also trying to appease Feiges vision of a broader multiversal movie, but with the same MCU pattern slapped on top of it. The movie feels like two visions colliding with one another: the first and second act clearly showing an attempt of trying to balance both styles with one another, while the third and final act is full-on Raimi. Also, the villains' motivation in this movie is kind of overblown and ridiculous, especially seeing the lengths that he/she goes to because of said motivation. That could have been handled better.

To sum it up though, this movie is a blast through and through, with its quick pace, intense action, scary vibe and great acting by all involved (especially Elisabeth Olsen) - this is the most unique, different, brutal and scariest MCU movie to date. Sam Raimi knocked it out of the park and I definitely want to see him work on more Marvel projects coming up.

The plot and the script may have their issues like a lot of Marvel movies, but just because of Sam Raimi's amazing direction, the music, the film editing and the acting, especially Elizabeth Olsen's incredible performance, it's worth to watch.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It was a fun, typically unchallenging superhero movie. America is a super cool new character with a lot of promise as someone who could potentially control the Marvel "multiverse."
The studio somehow keeps managing to up the stakes with each movie but honestly I have no idea how they can get any higher.
Overall it's unflinchingly brutal but very engrossing inclusion to the franchise.

A phenomenal movie for sure and manages to blend a classic MCU movie with horror. Amazing effects, story and twists

BUT

1)The movie was more of a Scarlet Witch movie. It had more to do with Wandavision than any other movie, Wanda was the clear star of the film and truth be told everyone was there to watch Elizabeth Olsen. 2)Because it was a Scarlet Witch movie, Dr. Strange became more of a side character who jobs on everything short of a fist fight despite clearly being powerful. He had some character development, but could probably do have had some more.

3)It didn’t really answer anything. This wouldn’t be an issue on its own, but phase 4 is starting to become too much now. So many lingering questions from Loki, Wandavision, Eternals, GotG 2, Chang-Chi and everything else…but barely anything was added. Instead, it just doubled the amount of questions pretty much forcing you to watch every single next entry in hopes that you’ll watch every single movie, show and whatever else for the next 10 years of your life. I guess it’s entertaining but still it’s getting ridiculous…and I say this as a major MCU fan who enjoys post credits and YouTube theories.

I find a lot of reviews irritating and not understandable.

People blame this movie for the high expectations they had.
Every movie should reach the expectations of the viewer, but in this case the expectations where simply unrealistic.

No MCU movie has faced such high expectations, not even No way home or Endgame.
This is the fault of the promotion.

All fans knew that old characters would appear in no way home. This was the big selling point. Multiverse of Madness promised us the Multiverse.
A Multiverse gives endless opportunities thanks to the comics.
So we all speculated into the impossible.
We wanted that all our dreams come true.

The trailers should have settled our expectations but they did the opposite.

Wrong promotion shouldn't be part of a review.
Only the movie matters.

The movie has undeniable weaknesses but it also got a lot of strong parts.

Never was a MCU movie so brave and refreshing.
Sam Raimi's new ideas and his style is very present, when we start our journey through the Multiverse.
I hope that more Marvel movies will try new genres and ideas. The little horror elements where fitting.
The camara is more alive than in any other MCU movie. The camara style is horror influenced and you can see the similarities to other Sam Raimi movies.
The actors are great as always and I liked America Chavez.
She was very comic accurate.
I also liked the cameos. The weren't necessary but cool for fans.

Some dialogues and moments where strange and awkward like in every Sam Raimi movie.
For me as Sam Raimi fan this wasn't something distracting, but I know a few people wich didn't like this kinda stuff.
There is also to much exposition, which wasn't important for the story.
Also the beginning of the movie has problems with the pacing.
I think the story had to be rewritten because of release changes.
Sometimes the VFX are really great and topnotch, but sometimes the VFX feels unfinished.
Marvel should have take more time for that.

I really liked the movie and it is one of the best MCU movies in my opinion besides the negative points.
The movie was really refreshing.
When you watch the movie with realistic expectations you will be blown away.

A must see for every marvel and Raimi fan.

I was worried the cameos we’re gonna overshadow doctor strange journey in the movie, but I was definitely wrong this is still a self contained doctor strange movie with Wanda as the main villain who in my opinion is one of the villains in the mcu. Honestly, its hard to know how to feel about this movie or to even give this a rating. This may be a biased opinion because I am a fan of the Marvel movies, and Dr. Strange is my favorite character. On the good side, it was very unique, and I loved the cinematic creativity. I thought the acting was good, and I enjoyed the cameos. But in the end, I was left wanting more. I had high expectations for this film, and I thought this would be the movie to massively expand the multiverse, and I thought this film would show exactly what direction Marvel was going in. In the end, I was kind of left wanting more. I feel like the movie was too short. There were a lot things that didn't get addressed, and they moved too quickly through all the important plot points and left a lot of scenes too short. But on the cinematic level, it was top of the game. That helped make this an overall good movie. Expand

Man: No Way Home Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm surprised this movie got so many middling reviews. I thought it was fantastic, and one of the more entertaining Marvel films. I thought it was improvement on the original Strange, where it had to get all of character origin crap out of the way. Was Wanda TOO powerful? Eh, maybe? I'm not familiar with the comics so I don't know. She seems like a god in this movie, and that wasn't how she came across in the other films. She does go **** crazy though, but I thought she made a great villain regardless. Sam Raimi really brought his horror flair to the screen, and as a fan of his work (especially Evil Dead and Drag Me to Hell) I could see some of those stylistic flourishes. I was rewatching just a while ago and noticed that yellow Cadillac spinning in the air, the car he always includes in every film. Loved the Bruce Campbell cameo and jokes, and Mr. Fantastic and Professor Xavier! I'm glad the internet didn't spoil those surprises for me. I think my favorite scene was the musical note battle; that was so ingeniously orchestrated and filmed. The second best scene was when they were crashing through realities one after another. Superbly done. I loved it. In fact, with Infinity War, Ragnarök, Iron Man and Far From Home, this one is in my top 5 of the Marvel movies. Expand

This has never happened in 14 years. Of course, you can blame for the ambiguous ending, but in fact this is only the beginning. The major flaw is the main antagonist's agenda, which could've been fixed with simple measures and that's that. Besides this, it's an entertaning entry, WAAAAAAY better than the Eternals.

Honestly, I've already seen the light when it comes to a studio establishing, developing and then rounding out a massive continuity of standalone films to an incredibly satisfying degree. For me, that was the MCU's Infinity Saga. Phase four can be whatever it wants, for all I'm concerned. If that means we're due for a more standalone-centric feel, where filmmakers get more of a shot at showcasing their voices with each installment? So be it. Dark, violent and willing to take big swings, I found Sam Raimi's "Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness" to be a great deal of fun, with some fantastic imagery and a really terrific first and third act. Does it stick the landing with every character and narrative throughline? No, but I really hope the powers-that-be continue down this road of allowing filmmakers a bit more creative control with pictures like this. More, please. Expand

However the more I thought afterwards about it the more I disliked it. Don't get me wrong as it is an enjoyable movie with a good cast and memorable moments but maybe not that good. Marvels phase 4 is a bit divisive too to be fair. The main point is that the multiverse was introduced in Loki and so there are countless universe out there. Some quite familiar others unrecognizable strange. After the set up scene that introduces this and new characters we go to Dr. Strange who visits the wedding of his former love he lost because of past decisions and obsessions. He is reflecting his life choices a bit when an eldritch looking being chases a woman causing much collateral damages. Here I stop to avoid spoilers. I say the title alone spoils a lot but the trailer was misleading. It is as much a superhero movie as it is dealing with loss, regret, the past and life choices. Another kind of heroes journey and I like this really well. However the choice for the villain I strongly dislike. The character deserved better even when everything is understandable. However it can be solved without conflict really fast and other superhero stories used this solution. If in 1 universe someone has lost someone important and it was in reverse in another similar universe pair those together. They can help heal each others wounds. I expect the YouTube channel “How it should have ended” to use this when they do this movie.Aside from that the twists work well, they introduce a lot of new characters and the visuals are impressing. Also the character development is nice. As I said: Maybe the movie tricked me into believing it was better than it actually was. The actors are excellent. I absolutely loved Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange, Benedict Wong as Wong is my favourite side-character that I enjoy in every Marvel movie and Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer surprised me with a great performance. Same is also valid for Elisabeth Olsen as Wanda who gives probably the best performance in the movie.Xochitl Gomez is a strong addition and I would say they could have fleshed out her character a bit more as it is close to being generic. However she save this with a good performance. There are others I want to praise but cant go into details as it would be spoilers. A strong cast but a bit hindered sometimes by the script. The special effects are top notch and gave the movie the Dr. Strange feeling / experience the first movie created.Overall I am still undecided if it is good or just smoke and mirrors that tricked me well. Because I was mostly entertained I give a 7/10. I was leaning anywhere from 5-9/10 but could not pinpoint my doubts. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I like that even after the trailers, you don’t really know what to expect. Or maybe I didn’t watch all the ones with the spoilers. Multiverse of Madness was a trippy ride that I wasn’t entirely prepared for.
The film is unlike anything from Marvel you seen before. It definitely isn’t Spider-Man: No Way Home but Doctor Strange.
Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness is more of a dark fantasy. Which Sam Raimi was perfect for. Not because he made Spider-Man movies but because he is an under-rated master of Horror.
He made Evil Dead movies and Drag Me to Hell. That is the Sam Raimi to expect when seeing this movie. Which is what helped make it such a different experience from Marvel.
Spoiler: My only problem is that Wanda wants her kids back with not one mention of Vision.

The threat to reality becomes too great for Strange, Wong (Benedict Wong) and Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen), and chaos ensues.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is probably the closest thing any Marvel movie is going to get to a horror movie. We can all go ahead and thank director Sam Raimi for that, now there’s a director who understood the assignment. The film starts crazy and only gets more chaotic as it progresses. Once you go into the multiverse narrative there’s quite literally endless possibilities. We’ve already seen the potential of exploring the multiverse with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: No Way Home and now the bar has been raised yet again with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Multiverse of Madness is a lot of fun, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It does drift into horror movie territory for a good portion of the movie but if anything that just made me like it more. What can I say, I’m a fan of the first Doctor Strange and most of the Marvel movies and been looking forward to this for months. It’s not quite what I expected, but it’s mental and I loved it. It’s completely off the rails but with Cumberbatch and Olsen as two strong characters we’ve seen onscreen a few times it’s nice to see their characters developed further. Considering the sheer amount of comic book movies we’ve had over the last twenty years I think it’s safe to assume many people have become a little worn out by the same formula over and over again so to see Marvel hire a director like Raimi to make something a little different is great and I’d like more of this please. It’s important to have a little variety in the superhero genre and I love seeing Raimi step back into the superhero genre. Let’s be honest we all know Spider-Man 3 wasn’t his fault, studio interference continually ruins so many movies, so if he wants to make a sequel to The Multiverse of Madness then let him, I want to see more of this craziness.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has lots of horror, lots of magic and lots of madness. Highly recommended for the Marvel fans, and for everyone else you need to be warned that without prior knowledge of the previous Marvel films you may feel a little lost. Don’t forget the two post credit scenes for all the die-hard fans.

However i felt there were a lot of plot holes in this movie, more than in other's which did degrade the film a bit. The first 20 minutes were also extremely rushed. Every actor does his things and also wanda did her thing and she acted really well imo. Doctor strange feels like a superhero that actually has to face human problems in this movie which is cool. So, parts of the story are strong while others are very weak. Not mentioning of the big plot hole right at the beginning of the movie (that no one can miss). Even if you get some special cameos, the multiverse aspect feels safe and constraint. Wildest moments passes very briefly. The actors are uneven. Some of Olsen drama falls flat, while Gomez gets interesting the further the movie advance. Visually the movie is quite a feast, yet the multiverse is kind of very limited. The FX are stunning at times, but way too fast to appreciate. The music is surely a very good point in this movie. I give the movie 68%. While I remain very divided about the validity of this story, I guess the overall package is still interesting. The movie avoids overwhelming the audience by only diving so deep into the Multiverse. It straddles a fine line between horror and a regular action flick and keeps the best features of both. The decisions made with Wanda are a little jarring at first but make for a less predictable movie in the long run.

I loved seeing America a Chávez get introduced to the MCU and cannot wait to see what she has to offer in the future.

So II enjoyed the first Doctor Strange film even though it followed the same format of superhero origin stories. The exploration of the magic side was just an interesting aspect of the universe and I just love how they portrayed it visually. So I was gutted when the director of the original, Scott Derrickson, left the project. However, it was then revealed that legendary director Sam Raimi, director of the Evil Dead and Spider-Man trilogy, would direct it and I was super excited again. So does it deliver a multiverse of fun or is it a multiverse of dullness?

Firstly, this is definitely a Sam Raimi movie. All the usual flairs that you would expect from him are completely in here and I love it. The stylistic way he shoots a scene, the way he portrays New York feels like what he did in Spider-Man, the slight goofiness, the horror elements and jump scares are all here. There are some great visuals during the magic sequence and multiverse stuff. There are also some horrific scenes that genuinely surprised me as it felt too gruesome for a PG 13 movie. It's a Sam Raimi film through and through and his direction elevates this movie to new heights. There are also some great action set pieces that were very creative and a blast to watch. The music is composed by Danny Elfman and he does a great job. There is a fun action sequence with the use of music and Danny does a great job with the music score to illustrate that battle. The actors are also all doing a great job. Benedict Cumberbatch is still the perfect Doctor Strange and delivers on every scene. I also love how he portrays the other Doctor Strange variants from other universes. Benedict Wong is great and his chemistry with the other Benedict is still fun to watch. Rachel McAdams returns as Christine but unlike the first film she has more to do this time and I appreciate that since she is wonderful in the role. Xochitl Gomez is good as America Chavez and I like her interaction with Doctor Strange. The other supporting cast does a good job as well even with their small screen time. The biggest standout is Elisabeth Olsen as Wanda. She does a phenomenal job in her performance. I just love how she did in every scene from the emotional to the scary. She is the core of this film.

However, Doctor Strange is not the primary focus and has to share screen time with both Wanda and Chavez. Unfortunately, the characterization is lacking which makes them all feel one dimensional. The pacing slows down around the second act due to a lot of walking and talking. The ending is very Sam Raimi but the impact of it is lessened because of the mid credit scene.

Overall, I am thrilled by the return of Sam Raimi to the superhero genre. While the screenplay lets the movie down a bit, Sam Raimi was still able to make this movie feel unique. It's clear that the MCU didn't restrain Sam's wackiness and I am glad about that. Thanks to his amazing direction and the terrific performance from the cast, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ends up being extremely fun to watch.

If you're a fan of the MCU because of its connections throughout all the movies you'll be somewhat disappointed. Elizabeth Olson's acting is the best thing about the movie and what the Scarlet Witch can do. The ending also falters out without any big battle moment, and if people want to criticize WW84 for a very similar ending you have to do the same here. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wanda's arc comes to an amazingly well-acted end. Personally I believe those who are saying her leap in character feels off are misinformed. She has gone through a lot, including the events of WandaVision, and was corrupted by the Dark Hold...obviously, she's not in the most stable state of mind.

I do agree, though, Scarlet Witch outshines Doctor Strange in this film, and America Chavez isn't my favourite, but isn't terrible to me either.

The CGI was great and I loved the chase scene.

Sacred Timeline Wanda dying, in the end, feels incredibly tragic, showing just how fleshed out her character truly was.

It is not the best movie, but Scarlet Witch makes it a great, or maybe just good, one. The music fight is also wacky and creative, props to that.

The Illuminati could've just been random characters, maybe. They clearly were done to show off how strong Wanda is - killing Captain Marvel easily. The cameos were neat, but nothing much.

Raimi hasn't made a movie in a long time, and I think it shows... and I think the story also made very corrosive choices. But that's where it kind of ended for me. The music was good, but nothing that made me sit my ass down. The action scenes were great too, but then again, there have been better ones in Marvel. It was the story that took the biggest hit. It's pretty weak in my opinion, and unfortunately, this vice is starting to repeat itself. I first noticed this with Spider-Man: No Way Home, but it didn't matter in the finale, because it was all taken care of by a trio of our favorite Spider-Men who pulled the whole movie off, and besides, the action was on another level with better music. I actually noticed this earlier with Venom: Let There Be Carnage, where it just didn't quite work out. Then after a while came the failed Morbius and now this. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness came out even better thanks to its aforementioned visuals, which made the film interesting. Otherwise, it would probably have been above average. It's a shame. I understand that they want to show us something grandiose in the form of effects at every corner, but we shouldn't forget about the quality of the plot, which I don't think is bad here, but definitely weaker compared to other Marvel movies. Historically, this has been done in Avengers: Infinity War, for example, where action and good looks were plentiful while not forgetting a good plot with a good story. Here, it went a bit to hell for me as far as the writing goes, and in my opinion, that's the biggest minus of the new Doctor Strange. For me, a good movie that I recommend more to just the bigger fans of the Marvel world. For the average viewer, I would only recommend this movie if they want some eye candy and aren't looking for a deeper plot. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I will give this movie a 7.8 out of 10 because the first act felt really rushed and kinda written bad but during the middle and end it got a lot better. But also I could definitely tell that this film was definitely reshoot a lot. And i didn’t like that. I heard and watch that the writer kept changing the scenes and story plot during end of production or during the production. I really wish they kept the original doctor strange writers. And I actually want to see Scott Derrickson version because of his concert art it really show a full potential of Multiverse of Madness. And an actual horror film vibe. No offense to rami I am a huge fan of his Spider-Man film. But still the cgi was little bad especially the third eye. Expand

Very far from the best movies of Marvel, but still good. A good movie for a Sunday in the afternoon.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 6.5 out of 10. Pros:
Elizabeth Olsen delivered another excellent performance. Doctor Strange is the title but this was really a story about her dealing with a culmination of personal losses throughout her time in the MCU and what she's willing to do to regain some of that loss.

The second act was phenomenal and the third act was solid. The cameos were satisfying. But the real fan service was the score/theme from the animated X-men that played when Professor X took the screen.

The horror elements were fantastic.

Cons:
The first act was a complete bore.

The CGI was pretty rough at a few parts. Most notably when Wanda exited the mirror realm. No excuse for bad visual effects in a Doctor Strange movie.

Possibly a controversial take here - the actress who played America Chavez was not good. Her body language and line delivery was jarring enough to pull me from my immersion at several points. There are plenty of incredibly talented young, Hispanic women actors who could have played this part really well (Jenna Ortega would have been perfect, in my opinion). This actress will grow into the role overtime, I'm sure. However, I was a little bummed out that the casting didn't seem to fit for a new character that was critical to this story and potentially even to the future of the MCU.

Lastly and on a related note, they nerfed the heck out of Wanda's powers at the end. It was laughable. Wanda has not gone toe-to-toe, but rather SPANKED Ultron, Vision, Thanos, and brutally offed the members of the Illuminati - then she gets punched in the face a few times by a girl with "star power" that she was already intent on killing and suddenly she forgets to use any of her magic/powers. Seemed a bit too lazy/convenient.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first foray into the Horror genre on the big screen. In most ways it manages to deliver to an artistic dive into the human psyche, and highlights new terrifying depictions of familiar fan favorite characters. It truly feels like a Sam Raimi film, but it unfortunately fails to deliver on its promise of exploring the multiverse, only really providing us with what feels like a taste of what is to come.

Elizabeth Olsen reprises her role as Wanda Maximoff and shows off her acting capabilities, simultaneously showing us the loving character we fell in love with and a more antagonistic and monstrous side of her. She feels like the true star of the film, leaving Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange to take a back seat and unfortunately become one of the least intriguing aspects of the film.

One other shortfall of the film is its lack of explaining important aspects of how the multiverse and Darkhold work - diehard fans are rewarded with knowledge obtained from watching hundreds of hours of MCU content, but the general audience is left with more questions than answers.

overall i would give this movie a 7/10

Enjoyed Benedict and Elizabeth's performances nonetheless. Expand

The villain becomes the bad guy just all of a sudden. The multiverse aspect is cool but its missing the madness. There was more madness in Spiderman but maybe the madness was in relation to the villain's rage.
I enjoyed this alot but I was hoping for something more. I liked the way it looked and was acted but the pacing isn't for me. Usually for a Marvel movie the last half hour has the big fight scene but the big fight starts with an hour to go and it leads to a satisfying conclusion.
I give this a SEVEN. Solid movie but I feel like the villain's reasoning for their actions ignored their backstory. They could have given a different reason why they went mad. It constantly bothered me throughout the movie.

While there are a lot of imaginative ideas and fantastic Sam Rami infused "horror-esque" sequences in here, the film never fully worked as a cohesive whole. Conflicting characterization, weak pacing, and ill defined plot elements made it feel largely unsatisfying, hollow, and incomplete. Although, I did appreciate its ambition and the creative freedom that was given to Raimi... and a couple of those cameos had me jumping out of my seat! Expand

I will say that the pacing was off and the movie would have been better with about 10 more minutes or so.

There was also some great CGI and some laughable CG.

After seeing No Way Home, I thought that the MCU had nothing interesting to do. That may still be true, but at least I know that a director like Sam Raimi can elevate an otherwise unremarkable experience.

All the signature campiness and excellent cinematography is here, and Raimi has clearly not missed a beat in the decade since his last directing gig. The movie still suffers from what the other MCU films suffer from: bad plot devices, 2D characterization, and inconsistent logic, but I think Raimi elevates the experience in ways no factory-filmmaker could have.

The Marvel-heads that were expecting a more generic experience will be sorely disappointed.

I think the high expectations made people very disappointed in this movie and I understand that but it's no excuse to say that this movie wasn't good.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is not as good as some people make it, but it definitely isn't as bad either! At the end, it is a pretty straight forward fun ride with some flaws. The biggest one being that you need to have seen a lot of other stuff to actually get whats going on. At the very least you should have seen the first Dr. Strange, all Avengers movies, Loki, Wandavision and probably a bit of What If...

Whats good or what works? The story is good, compared to other movies it is a very small and selfcontained movie. It is not about saving the uni- or multiverse, it is mostly about Wanda and her trauma and Elizabeth Olsen is simply amazing in portraing her. It is as much a horror movie as Disney will probably ever allow it to be, which is great and you can really see, what Raimi did here. R rated it would have been better, but expect a lot more graphic violence than you are used to. The Doctor himself is also great, he has his own story arc, he goes on a journey and he definitely isn't the same person and the end of the movie. Lastly, most of the effects are really good, I recommend seeing it in IMAX, when you can.

Whats not working? Some of the cgi especially at the beginning of the movie is not very good. Garganto (?) looks very cheesy. America Chavez is bit bland, she is essentially the mcguffin of the movie, she is well portraied and the actress is good, but the character doesn't add much apart from being the plot device. And is just me, or is it very ironic that the first mexican super hero's super power is literally crossing borders? Some of the fan service also doesn't work well, especially the introduction of the Illuminati. They only have a few minutes, but they are portrait as arrogant and incompetent and they look... cheap. I am a big fan of Patrick Stewart, but he is at an age where it is painful to watch him "act". Black Bolt will never work on any screen, the movie makes this very clear. The same is true for the F4, a stretching dude simply is not a great hero. And the few scenes show, that arrogant hateful female characters like Captain Carter or Captain Marvel have no place in a movie.

To sum it up, go and see it. Despite not being perfect, it is fun, it is well made and it is tonally very different from other MCU entries, which makes it really refreshing to watch. Don't listen to all this 0-3 ratings, I don't know what these dudes have seen. I can just assume that these are hateful trolls, that probably can't cope with the idea, that a teen can have two mothers and that they can actually contribute something to the resolution of a movie.

I knew that this is not going to be the bigger deal that everyone thought it'd be. there is nothing to hate and it is not even boring but this should be a Scarlet Witch movie. for those who are going to watch this just lower your expectations.
