It goes without saying there's plenty of CGI laden effects present and a fair 'dollop' of action and tense moments throughout but I admit I'm no Marvel afficiando and so I didn't really follow the various intricacies where the various characters are concerned. I felt a bit disconnected to this film compared to what I remember of the first one, due to it being so centered away from the 'real world' (in New York or wherever) and more set in the various Marvel universes, as the title alludes to. I did enjoy it for the basic entertainment value but I imagine big fans of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) would enjoy this more than me. Even so, I reckon this film desveres a 3 star rating at the least. Benedict Cumberbatch gives a pretty decent performance, given the script and everything. It's hardly great but it's certainly ok. If your really into these kinds of films then yes I'd say it's worth seeing, if not then perhaps not, that's about all I can say really. Expand

I'm usually an MCU fanboy but this movie sucks hard. Horrible writing, (they re-wrote it when Raimi came on apparently,) lame humour and brimming with predictable tropes. Should have been a fun view into the multiverse, but felt like watching an hour of the constant blundering in a bad horror movie. Instead of Doctor Strange doing clever things we get tediously predictable CGI fireball battles and boring dialogue. Really can't stress enough how bad the dialogue is, there's a lot of decision making that's just straight up brain-dead and then minutes of pointless squabbling that follows.

Also who made the decision to bring in America Chavez AKA the Marvel Universe's least liked character, (maybe Sam Raimi?) And the actor they used for her was pretty bad- there's a certain fainting scene that was highschool play caliber. It's one of the least forgettable scenes in the movie because it actually made me groan, where the rest of it failed to elicit a reaction.

Compared to "Spiderman: No Way Home" this movie is a joke.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is by far the worst film marvel has released in a while. Not only does it suffer from a run time that could be cut about 30 minutes shorter, but it also suffers from lack of character building and poor use of the characters we have met so far. The use of the Illuminati and the characters that composed the group felt like a complete and utter waste. We had barely any time to spend with these characters and the time we did spend made them feel unlikable and boring. The acting was just fine and was nothing to be marveled at. The only stand out performance was from Wong, Strange, and Wanda. The film was a utter disappointment and a waist of time. Please save your time and money. Expand

It's a shame that the final product is not without its weak points, irregular structure and doesn't fully embrace the weirdness that would have made it a superior movie, but it's far better than what the critic reception made it seem, as well as from the people that dislike the taste for guts, horror and campiness of its creator. Perhaps I would give it a 7 and something, but given the context of Marvel movies and some truly unfair reviews I'll go for and 8. Expand

Sadly most of what we get is a woke agenda insert main maguffin character literally called America born in a universe where apparently two women can convieve a child. Her stuff dragged it down to a 4/10 for me.
After making my way through Wanda vision and so many other marvel films with Dr strange playing a lead supporting role, this felt like a missed opportunity to not just tell a great story but a timeless one. It's so sad that super hero movies have to have gender politics inserted into them to adhere to woke Hollywood. I can't wait for this age to come to an end.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved it! I was surprised at the amount of violence and gore Disney allowed in this MCU entry, but it was needed for the stakes this movie wanted to show. Wanda absolutely making spaghetti dinner out of the Illuminati, and Strange puppeteering his dead corpse to fight her was something I never thought I’d see on the big screen. I am excited for what the future holds in the multiverse going forward if it’s anything like this. I was on the edge of my seat the entire film. Expand

This film is an absolute blast to watch. I was very skeptical beforehand about this being a cameo fest film and while there were some cameos, it was relegated to one section of the film and there weren’t a lot of them. Plus they use those cameo characters in an interesting way. This isn’t perfect by any means and the script is easily the weakest part of the film. The dialogue is definitely VERY rough around the edges and it definitely could have used another rewrite or two but oh my god the directing, performances, and characters are great. I really enjoyed seeing Doctor Strange’s and Wanda’s arcs in this film. Both coming to terms with what they have lost. I really loved that Wanda was the villain of the film. I really wanted WandaVision to go in that direction but it didn’t and it seems that this film rectified that decision and saying what Wanda did in her show wasn’t okay. It’s safe to say here that all of the performances are great. Benedict Cumberbatch is still doing a great job as Strange and Elizabeth Olsen shines as Wanda but Xochitl Gomez shines as America Chavez. I hope we see more of her in the future. My absolute favorite aspect of this film is Sam Raimi’s direction. It truly feels that Kevin Feige just told Sam Raimi to do whatever he wanted as long as he followed the script and my god did he deliver. Besides the first hour, this film is screaming that this is his film. The camera movements, the horror elements, and especially the gore. There was a surprising amount of violence in this film that I didn’t expect to see from the MCU and it was definitely a welcome decision. I do believe though that this film would be so much better if the dialogue was ironed out more but this is so much fun that I can’t hate on it too much. The second post credit scene is also one of my favorites in the MCU however it really only works if you’ve seen Raimi’s other films. Definitely go check this out if you’re an MCU fan and especially if you are a Raimi fan. You won’t be disappointed. Expand

Sam Raimi is a hack, and always has been. He has two go-to's, one being zombies or undead things, and two being grotesque over-the-top gross out gags that only he and his circle jerk friends find funny. The biggest problem with the Marvel movies now is that they serve literally no function to an overarching narrative, which is even worse when half of your setup for your movie relies on an audience that HASN'T been watching the crappy one-off TV shows on Disney + or whatever. This is honestly one of the dumbest leap-of-faith character 180's I've ever seen for a villain in the Marvel universe. Its so trite, so vague and so stupid that you wonder if anyone involved had actually watched any of the previous movies. I didn't care about these characters, they have NO permanence, they will either replace them if they die (from another multiverse, universe, dimension, etc..) or explain away why they could somehow be returned to this same dimension if they follow some mumbo-jumbo McGuffin object plot line. A.k.a. its awful.

None of the movies have done well for a long time now. These solo affairs involving garbage characters like "Black widow" aren't interesting when the character is DEAD anyway and its not interesting to hear about their back story when it has no bearing or presents any new stakes in the storyline. No tension, bad jokes, bad CGI and bland characters are literally the death knell of these movies. It really has become the end of Cowboy films as we know it.

Pretty sure there's a multiverse out there, where this movie is considered "good", too bad where not in that multiverse right now.

Also: It's become an unhealthy habit, that Marvel Movies now require you to watch a whole show in advance so you as the viewer can even understand what's actually happening on the screen...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first foray into the Horror genre on the big screen. In most ways it manages to deliver to an artistic dive into the human psyche, and highlights new terrifying depictions of familiar fan favorite characters. It truly feels like a Sam Raimi film, but it unfortunately fails to deliver on its promise of exploring the multiverse, only really providing us with what feels like a taste of what is to come.

Elizabeth Olsen reprises her role as Wanda Maximoff and shows off her acting capabilities, simultaneously showing us the loving character we fell in love with and a more antagonistic and monstrous side of her. She feels like the true star of the film, leaving Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange to take a back seat and unfortunately become one of the least intriguing aspects of the film.

One other shortfall of the film is its lack of explaining important aspects of how the multiverse and Darkhold work - diehard fans are rewarded with knowledge obtained from watching hundreds of hours of MCU content, but the general audience is left with more questions than answers.

Although the special effects are often stunning, the story is weak and frequently devolves into baffling weirdness. Repeatedly throughout the movie, it seems like the writers and director opted for making the unconventional choice to move the story along. The film expends more energy trying to "wow" the audience with visuals than it does in telling a story that grabs us and makes sense. This is truly one of the more disappointing Marvel movies. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wanda's arc comes to an amazingly well-acted end. Personally I believe those who are saying her leap in character feels off are misinformed. She has gone through a lot, including the events of WandaVision, and was corrupted by the Dark Hold...obviously, she's not in the most stable state of mind.

I do agree, though, Scarlet Witch outshines Doctor Strange in this film, and America Chavez isn't my favourite, but isn't terrible to me either.

The CGI was great and I loved the chase scene.

Sacred Timeline Wanda dying, in the end, feels incredibly tragic, showing just how fleshed out her character truly was.

It is not the best movie, but Scarlet Witch makes it a great, or maybe just good, one. The music fight is also wacky and creative, props to that.

The Illuminati could've just been random characters, maybe. They clearly were done to show off how strong Wanda is - killing Captain Marvel easily. The cameos were neat, but nothing much.

A phenomenal movie for sure and manages to blend a classic MCU movie with horror. Amazing effects, story and twists

BUT

1)The movie was more of a Scarlet Witch movie. It had more to do with Wandavision than any other movie, Wanda was the clear star of the film and truth be told everyone was there to watch Elizabeth Olsen. 2)Because it was a Scarlet Witch movie, Dr. Strange became more of a side character who jobs on everything short of a fist fight despite clearly being powerful. He had some character development, but could probably do have had some more.

3)It didn’t really answer anything. This wouldn’t be an issue on its own, but phase 4 is starting to become too much now. So many lingering questions from Loki, Wandavision, Eternals, GotG 2, Chang-Chi and everything else…but barely anything was added. Instead, it just doubled the amount of questions pretty much forcing you to watch every single next entry in hopes that you’ll watch every single movie, show and whatever else for the next 10 years of your life. I guess it’s entertaining but still it’s getting ridiculous…and I say this as a major MCU fan who enjoys post credits and YouTube theories.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Marvel's attempt to make more mature movie results in a rushed movie with forced darkness which is too dark for the typical marvel audience yet quite not dark enough for the mature audience. I will not deny that the movie has its moments but those are over way before the climax. The use of cameos has been terrible in the movie. The way Illuminati are introduced and killed is just preposterous. Whenever they tried building up an epic scene, they destroyed the intensity with crappy and cheesy jokes every time. Overall an okay film to watch. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Some fun ideas do not make up for the poor writing (90s level cheese), poor directing (no one is acting nearly as urgent or concerned as they should be), inconsistent power scaling, extremely dated jokes and predictability of it all. I am sure it is tough making a movie that both 10 yer olds and adults watch, but this was unreasonably dumbed down...even for the kids.

Than there is the poor CGI.... green screen lines and shadows everywhere. You would expect better from this level of studio.

limping, no magic wanda running as fast as three adults in full sprint for their lives hahahahaha
