I went to see this last night. Boring predictable storytelling. And it's filled with terrible CGI. There are some amazing actors in this film and they are all wasted. I wish I could have those hours of my life back. It amazes me how reviewsI went to see this last night. Boring predictable storytelling. And it's filled with terrible CGI. have to say that I really like scenery in this movie unfortunately the story line, characters and actors all failed to deliver. I almost fell asleep, something that has hasn't happened to me since watching The Postman as a child. Don't expect the typical Marvel adaptation, this movie takes itself very seriously and that's one of its biggest drawbacks, it's simply not fun or entertaining, the plot is very predictable, the acting feels forced and character development is lacking. I think my low rating has to do with my initial expectations, it was nothing like I imagined. The only pros is Chadwick Boseman, he's just a great actor that did his best.… Expand

Utter trash. This movie was hyped up to be the best super hero movie since The Dark Knight. Michael B. Jordan's character was said to rival Heath Ledger's joker. Okay. I really hoped the movie would be great and offer something different -Utter trash. This movie was hyped up to be the best super hero movie since The Dark Knight. Michael B. Jordan's character was said to rival Heath Ledger's joker. Okay. I really hoped the movie would be great and offer something different - especially since Black Panther was always a huge favorite of mine and I thought had some of the most creative writing and setting vs. the generic "Gotham" location. Instead we got a boring movie that is clearly only being hyped up because of the current political situation in the USA. The movie was bland, the fight scenes were boring. The acting was nothing special though Michael B. Jordan was clearly the standout - but to compare him to Heath Ledger is laughable at best. Honestly, I would have fell asleep if it wasn't for the constant clapping and cheering from my fellow millenials. For scenes we've seen before and a story we've seen before. But sure.

I wish we got a real Black Panther movie that was really something different. Not this watered down, cliche-driven movie we got.

To those giving this high praise because we "finally" got a black superhero movie (as if that makes a movie better), I'd just say that Spawn and Blade did it already. And they did it better.… Expand

The intro starts out good, but the movie slows to a crawl story wise and between the laughable acting and horrible group choreography, I was left nodding off for the better part of the first half of the movie. Things finally pick by the time the movie hits the Korea sequence but the budget must have run out for the CGI as the last half of the movie looks worse than many Playstation 2 cut scenes and the laughter and chatter throughout the theatre about said CGI confirmed that it wasn't just me. Kill Monger was way over acted and everyone else other than Klaue literally seemed there just for a paycheck or fresh out of acting school.

To sum up Black Panther in one word though... It would be "Boring".… Expand

I really had high expectations going in, maybe too high, but at some point I thought the Black Panther was in the Fast and the Furious and then some typical heist movie. I have seen Blade a few times, and I think I like it better, a little bloody, but I liked Snipes in that role, he nailed it. A horrible movie in absolutely every regard. From sub-par acting to an extremely lacking movie plot, this is a must skip movie. If you have to see it, wait until it's on DVD at your local Walmart for 99cents.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am rating it a zero to help balance out the clear biased scores. The truth is there is nothing that stands out as terribly bad. A lot of people complain about the political agenda of the movie, however it seems to be something that is relevant to the black community which makes it a very logical topic to be the driving point. That said, there were quite a few things that seemed to break immersion for me. It seemed that the primary goal was to have as much african influence as possible so they would have advanced wakandan tribes with brutal mutalations like lip discs and scaring tatoos. This was out of place too in the way that they act like all of africa has a similar culture. Africa has 1.2 billion people and if feel it odd that they want to boil it down to such a degree. That said it did a great job in making me want to see more films exploring spacific African culture.
OK now the film, The effects were not ground breaking, it was visually pleasing. Acting was not too bad for what was given, however the characters were written very flat, The villian is upset for having been left behind but that is pretty much it, they did not do well to develop the main character, He was the same guy as when he started. It suggested that he is more willing to share their technology maybe but that doesn't seem so out of character for the guy when first introduced. There was no real apotheosis.
The plot was driven by the writers not the characters. Somehow an advanced civilzation is going to let an outsider with no interest in the good of Wakanda be the king of Wakanda. it was cringe worthy. The movie is full of serious cliches to the point that You can guess what happens next with 100% certainty. There was not anything technically wrong with it, It just leaves you yawning and bored half way through the film. Not worth the money… Expand

I have been a marvel fan since day one and this movie was REALLY AWFUL! There were several great actors, good visual, alot of action and yet no script??? I feel this movie wouldve been so much better if a seasoned director had done it like John Singleton....anyway, its just alot of hype because hes the 'first' black super hero (dont tell Wesley Snipes though) and if you really want to see black panther skip the full length movie and see Wakanda in Infinity war....as far as black panther goes he was great in civil war and infinity war, you can skip the 2 hour trip to the land of vibranium.… Expand

The story seems to be written to pander to fantasies of social justice, the movie even ending with Wakanda (an African country) providing technological foreign aid and support to the United States. Cringeworthy puns (the 'sneakers' joke for silent running shoes, really?) / jokes (the vegetarian joke). Every character acting irrationally. Special effects that look like video game cutscenes. Even Bucky Barnes in a post-credits scene looked super bored with this movie.… Expand

I'm Black and I think this is one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. There was no tension, no suspense, no exciting mystery to unravel. The first half of the movie is a painful slog to sit through, lots of talking about familyI'm Black and I think this is one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. There was no tension, no suspense, no exciting mystery to unravel. The first half of the movie is a painful slog to sit through, lots of talking about family issues which aren't compelling due to a lack of conflict between those involved, that is until Killmonger shows up. He is one of the better characters in the film. T'chala is very stoic and reserved and shows no charisma. I also don't appreciate comments like "colonizer" directed towards the white character as if today's white americans are somehow responsible for slavery. Many of the whites living in the usa came from immigrant Eastern European families that moved to the states in the 1800s, and most certainly did not have African slaves in their native countries and historically played no part in the African diaspora. On top of that, they weren't even considered "white" when they first immigrated and were treated poorly. I wish Hollywood would get their history right if they are going to make politically charged movies. I'm Black and I know this. I wish to see a film where whites, black, asians, etc. are all treated with respect and guiltless. As a black woman I am disgusted to think Hollywood thinks I must be a bigoted racist with an axe to grind against all white people.

Did I mention that this movie is boring? My father fell asleep while watching lol The whole time I was glancing between the film and my phone, waiting for it all to end. It was like being trapped in prison for 2 hours. My family were all quite disappointed with this film.… Expand

his film, at it’s foundation, is deeply flawed. Awkward dialogue from most characters excluding the lead. The action is unoriginal and hard to become invested in. CGI is below usual Marvel films and story is horribly paced.

Well as the African country only I thank to one material can bypass the rest of the world? The only "light spot" of this movie, is kind of ironic it did not sound - Martin Freeman. The high ratings of Black Panther is a spittle to all world cinema, it is all the same on the movie. He empty and through passage, in 5-10 years will remember nobody him. But awards the Oscar and other recognition "allegedly critics" just causes irritation

CGI is very overused, yet looks very fake.
Ironically Black panther doesn't commit anything heroic in the movie. He endangered civilians in car chasing scene. He attacked terrorists in the beginning of the movie - only because his girlfriend was there. Killmonger's motivation is stupid, he is easily one of the worst villains in MCU. Secondary villain was better than Killmonger. Wakanda's tradition is very dumb. Just random criminal comes to country, kills the king and takes the seat. And the wakandans just...accepted it. There is no any loyalty. The dudes from Border tribe are the worst traitors.… Expand
