I'm not a fan of dark, gritty plot lines and this was neither. Did it have politicised moments? Sure, but it was real. The moral provided by the plot was touching and inspiring. Some people will hate it, of course, but what movie is without its haters? In the end, its an amazing movie with believable siblings, devoted families and communities, and a realistic struggle to determine the path a country will take into the future. All around amazing film and I can't wait to see it again. Expand

I truly and honestly believe that movies with all black cast should not be centered around money, sex, drugs, slavery and gang violence. That was the vibe I was getting in the beginning, however as I sat back and let it all sink in I was astounded at the way we as a black race was portrayed. Just walking in to the AMC theaters in Tallahassee, Florida on fan night, I saw all black who had shopped at black owned stores for their Dashiki's and Ankhs this really put a smile on my face. It opened up so many conversations were movie goers, black movie goers were stating that if they had this much variety in the movies that they wouldn't resort to watching Madea Plays and 12 years a slave or even Snow in the Bluff. I hope the directors and writers are paying attention to their audience. With the movie itself I give it a 10 due to its creativeness of the villain and humor. There wasn't a moment in the film where I wasn't fully invested, my only problem with film is that there weren't that many African Americans from the states with feature roles and spot light.
To conclude, it is a must see for all and an eye opener of how prosperous the black community could be if we all work together. Wakanda Forever!

I like how they didn't over do the whole "These Movies Are All Connected" thing. They did it a little bit, but it wasn't annoying. They made sure that this movie was about Black Panther, and only Black Panther. The whole backstory and conflict in this movie is extremely interesting as well. In the beginnining of the movie, there's a voice over that gives the audience a simple backstory. They didn't overcomplicate things, it was just simple exposition. In my opinion, this movie is one of the best superhero movies out there. Expand

First and foremost, Black Panther is an absolutely badass superhero, I loved him in Civil War and he's even better here. He's like a Batman that is rich enough to have his own country! The action is great, especially in the first part with the car chase. Also the villains are great, especially the one played by Michael B Jordan. He's like the Magneto of MCU. The setting of Wakanda feels fresh and new and the side-characters are fun as well. Def worth watching! Expand

It was an amazing feeling to look at a movie screen and see a superhero who looked like me. To see diverse characters who were more than a stereotype. To see people in advancing technologically and still keep in touch with their culture. To see so many real and distinct African cultures be represented in such a positive light. It's not about Black supremacy, which does not exist, it's about positivity and representation. Black Panther was all of these and I'm very proud to have people like me in roles like this. I've seen it twice already, and I will very gladly go see it again. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where Star Wars Last Jedi failed to deliver on our hopes and aspirations, Black Panther delivers everything we wanted and beyond. It creates few questions openly or loudly, but it's inspiring ideas pushes people to active engagement with the movie. To me, this movie deserves its accolades and even more praise/esteem/box office rewards than Star Wars Last Jedi (but alas, Black Panther is not a franchise like the other top tier Marvel or even Star Wars level characters).

This is perhaps one of the best movies produced by Marvel. It is their answer to the Nolan's Dark Knight. Yes, it's near perfect, the story plays out with more nuance than most super hero movies, the characters are developed better, and the villain is sympathetic and even somewhat relatable if somewhat misguided.

There's levels on top of levels of plot, history, and themes. For me the movie plays with 3 complimenting plot ideas that work as a mesh of 3 movies' concepts, you have a James Bond type scenario, then the story grows into a Dark Knight morally ambiguous quagmire of modern issues and Greek tragedy, and finally you have Lion King-esque theme aka Shakespeare's Hamlet, where the rightful king must rise to the challenges of life and the world around him. To balance all three without compromising any of the story to do it, this movie achieved a perfect balance of plot and character.

The story was deeper that many superhero movies and easily tackled issues such as isolationism and the best way to bring power to the helpless. I was easily able to see things from the perspective of all of the characters and I fell in love with each of them. The acting was phenomenal and the attention to detail was beyond impressive. I adored the hair, outfits, music, and scenery that seemed to accurately capture an advanced civilization in Africa that had not lost sight of its roots. All in all, it is one of the best of the Marvel movies and I look forward to seeing more from these characters and from the MCU in general. Wakanda Forever! Expand

The cast could easily be marvels most talented and accomplished group with a mix of established heavyweights along with multi-faceted portrayals by the youngsters. Chadwick Boseman is finally a household Name after years of doing quality work. Ryan Coogler is a must watch director after 3 stellar high quality projects. This maybe a Once in a generation type of epic Experience that could fast become a cult classic. Marvel has been Patiently building towards infinity war, but my have climaxed with Black Panther. The 2nd time I saw it was better then the first. It is an addictive movie experience to be transported into this fantasy world of amazing people who are technologically and emotionally advanced as the citizens of Wakanda. The Dora Milajae Soldiers are so beautiful, the outfits again are incredible and really express the inner Power they wield. Killmonger is one of the best bad guys Marvel has produced, behind only David Tenets Kilgrave from Jessica Jones in My opinion. His backstory was masterfully crafted and represented in a way that almost endears you to the character. Almost, he is still vicious enough throughout to entice one to cheer at his eventual demise. All in All I'm not quite sure if I will stop seeing this movie. There may be some Rocky Horror Picture show fan discipleship brewing. I'm counting down the moments until my next viewing. It explores family bonds and culture. The connections between the members of the royal family and their loyal friends and allies are a beauty to behold, as are the sets and designs that bring Wakanda to life. The touches and inspirations from the African culture into the film will impress any viewer, no matter their heritage. While it delivers with action, humor and stunning imagery, its the darker and more serious themes in the story that make it stand out. As seen to the outside world Wakanda is a very poor country and one the poorest countries in whole world. It is fortified by mountain ranges and has rainforest all around the country. All of these things is to trick the eye of what is really inside of wakanda. Wakanda has some of the best technology in the world but they do not share it with anyone else. Wakanda has the shield that covers over the whole country so no one can really see what is inside. Once you enter the shield you can really see how beautiful the country it is.At the beginning of the movie it describes how the country became so technology advanced and how the black panther rules over Wakanda. Only the people in Wakanda know the true power of its country and they do not want to receive add from anyone else. Expand

When you see Black Panther, you are treated to an all star cast who brings their game that's better than A. Chadwick Boseman kills it at T'Challa, and is able to bring the emotional moments of the movie to the forefront. Michael B. Jordan should be praised for not only playing the second/third best Marvel villain, but for playing a complex character that brings the alagory of racism and hatred to life. I would say things about the rest of the cast, but you should honestly take my word for it as trying to say anything else would spoil the movie for you. The music from both Kendrick Lamar and composer Ludwig, fill the atmosphere and embrace African culture to the fullest extent possible, provide a soundtrack that is onpar with Guardians. The cinematography is amazing as a whole, but that is what you should expect from cinematographer Rachel Morrison. Everything in Wakanda feels authentic and embraces the vibrant culture of African people and does so in a way that is aethestically pleasing, and true to who the people are. It's unique and yet familiar. Plus, they don't hammer in a message so hard like how you'd expect a film like this to be. It takes its time with telling a story in a way that the message can unfold naturally to the viewer, rather than Whiplashing like J.K. Simmons. And all this is made possible thanks to writer/director Ryan Coogler, who has given the best stand alone Marvel movie since Guardians. Without him, this movie would not have worked the way it did. I love Black Panther, and I personally don't think you have to be black or white to love it too. Because if a movie can just stick with you after you left, and you'd be willing to watch it, then watch it again, then that's all that really matters. I love this movie and I hope you will too. Killmonger is one of the best villains in the MCU because he's sympathetic to a degree. He makes certain good points, just like Thanos. And when you compare him to someone like Malekith from Thor 2 (I had to Google the name because I couldn't remember it) who is simply evil for the sake of it, it's obvious Killmonger is a good villain.

Chadwick Boseman is a fantastic Black Panther and I can hardly imagine anyone else in this role. I was so sad when I heard he had passed away. Rest in Power. Also, all these racists who spammed 0/10 reviews for political reasons because the movie features black people are laughably pathetic.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Black Panther is a true masterpiece and has a finesse to it that we haven’t seen in any Marvel movie period since Spider-Man 2. The film pushes the race barrier of superhero films to much success, considering that in the whole movie there are only two substantive white actors. It’s filled with visual splendor and takes us on a fantastic journey into the technologically advanced nation of Wakanda, which was teased in the mid-credits scene of Civil War. The cultural approach of the movie is unique and not something other MCU installments have really done. Rather than simply take us on a tour through Wakanda, the filmmakers walk us through its history and how it came to be what it is at the time of the movie, which gives us an amazing lens through which to view this nation that we’re being introduced to. The action, which is superb, also has strong cultural roots, giving us fights that are intended to happen and unavoidable in a way that they’re not in other movies. Black Panther has some hilarious dialogue that is supplemented by the phenomenal cast performances, and makes some references of its own that teenage viewers are sure to understand. Killmonger is one of the best villains that we’ve seen in the MCU because he’s given a great backstory, some truly emotional moments, and actually convinces the hero to change his mind and take actions based on that that will forever alter Wakanda as a nation and civilization. T’Challa even tries to help Killmonger at the end of the film, creating an amazing hero-villain dynamic that we don’t see everyday. Despite having no powers of his own, Killmonger is a very intimidating and convincing villain and sets a possibly unbeatable bar for future villains and big-baddies. Through all of this, Black Panther is a superhero film and icon that can be looked at through multiple different perspectives: blockbuster entertainment, culture, academics, technology, etc. Black Panther has some of the best of what Marvel has to offer and I strongly recommend it to anyone who is a Marvel fan in general. The action sequences and fight scenes are spectacular, but that's not what sells the movie. It's very well cast, and the actors all perform brilliantly, and, unlike DC movies, Marvel is not afraid to have lots of dialogue and conversation scenes. The end result is that you care about the characters and feel with them and for them are you're never confused about their motivations and drives. It's also quite beautifully executed. Expand

A very solid film with great acting, a brilliant story and a political message that isn't rammed down your throat like Disney always does with the Star Wars franchise. Some very powerful female characters who are on par with the men but aren't made to dominate everything to make a point. A very different Marvel film made with a lot of heart and passion Expand

The film follows T’Challa (Chadwick Bodeman), as he prepares to assume the throne of the country of Wakanda after the death of his father. He is destined to lead over a nation that to the outside world seems impoverished and rural, but is secretly a very technologically advanced society thanks to their Vibranium resources. The resources allow them to keep their capitol city hidden from the world.

As T’Challa attempts to assume the throne and rule over the various tribes of his country; a threat from his past both known and unknown arises. Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) surfaces, T’Challa mounts and effort to bring him to justice which in turn sets a chain of events into motion. A mysterious and deadly figure known as Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), plans to obtain the Vibranium to exact a plan of revenge so severe it will lead to the nations of the world being subjugated and will divide even the most loyal citizens of Wakanda.

T’Challa must use his powers as The Black Panther and guardian of Wakanda to save his people and the very world from a threat that holds the fate of the world in the balance.
The film takes a while to get going as Director/Co-Writer Ryan Coogler takes his time introducing audiences to the world of Black Panther and especially the various characters. The strong supporting cast features Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, Forest Whitaker, Martin Freeman, and so many others that it is great to see such well-rounded characters.

The film does take a while to get up to the action but when it arrives; it delivers making the wait worth it. What I really liked was that the characters were well-defined as were their motivations. You did not have some cartoon mega-villain with some insane scheme, but rather a realistic and believable threat whose motivations were understandable though misguided.

Marvel has again delivered a very thrilling story that fits well into their extended universe and you will want to make sure to stay through all the credits for the two additional scenes which sets up future events for the Marvel Universe. “Black Panther” is a rousing success all around continues Marvel’s Cinematic Universe in grand style.

This is the best Marvel movie in years, maybe Infinity War will do better, we'll see. For now Black Panther is the Marvel movie you want to see this year. Many users, or at least accounts, seem to give this movie preposterously low ratings for mostly ideological reasons. I think Black Panther doesn't deserve that. Giving it a 9, even if it's really a very solid 8. I just left the theater feeling like it was money well spent and it's been a while since that happened. Expand

The acting from everybody is fantastic, especially the two main leads, in Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan. Unlike many MCU movies, the stakes feel high in spite of the grounded approach to storytelling, the film is shot and composed really well, the art design is fantastic, and, for the first time in seemingly forever, the villains (both Killmonger and Ulysses Klaue) are great. The plot doesn't break any new ground necessarily and the CG is mediocre when used, but the themes exposed through this plot and the practical elements/effects make up for these shortcomings for the most part. In the end, Black Panther lives up to a lot of the hype and truly differentiates itself from its MCU counterparts in many great ways. This truly is up there with Iron Man, Avengers, and Guardians of the Galaxy as one of the best movies the MCU has offered. Expand

This makes me sad, because although this movie has flaws, it is in no way deserving of the low user scores that it's receiving. It was honestly one of my favorite Marvel movies so far and to come up with a new unique story after so many other superhero stories have already been told in film and to do it in such fashion is really impressive.

There are some small parts where they drop the ball, in introducing too many different groups and too many story lines. But even dropping the ball on that one thing, the movie is leaps and bounds better than any, yes ANY DC movie, in story telling and in visuals. Oh my the visuals are stunning! So many colors and cool tech. I wish we could have more time in Wakanda to get a better sense of what Wakandan life is like!

The soundtrack is easily the best of any superhero movie out there and on par with any movie soundtrack save for TRON, which is easily the best soundtrack of all time.

I beg you to read this review as someone who has seen all of the Marvel movies twice that this might be the best one yet, no joke.

This isn't just a superhero saving the world from a supervillian. This is about the new generation dealing with the flaws and mistakes of the previous generations. They handle the topic with great care and show multiple perspectives on the subject and how someone may get to their conclusion. Of course, this is a great superhero film as well. They tie up some loose ends from previous MCU films and incorporate them into this film with ease. The acting is great from Chadwick Boseman to the standout actress, Letitia Wright. Michael B. Jordan gives us the best MCU villain since Loki. He’s so great that you can understand where he is coming from, even if you don't agree with is stance. For the most part, the action is well done, however there are a few moments where some CGI looks unfinished. It really is it's own movie and I think that this is where it finds its image, how it's excelled far and wide from everything that's come before. It's different and it does a good job proving that you don't need the biggest names to come in for some superstar spotlight show stealing intervention. Boseman does a remarkable job in the lead role and the cast's performance sets great role models for viewers. Linked messages about race and a very well developed villain (or at least a very cool one) helps its story. It isn't the most entertaining or star-studded MCU film, but it doesn't try to, nor does it need to be. A well written script and jaw-dropping visual design help carry it across the well deserved ($1 bil worldwide gross) finish line. It invests more points in quality than entertaining re-watchability, and it succeeds well. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Too bad that METACRITIC does not have review standards because the online trolls are out in force for this film. Although not quite perfect, 'Black Panther' is a certain game changer for Marvel Studio's future productions. Black Panther is a super hero film that was long overdue with a mostly all black cast and a structure that superbly portrays black African culture of the past, present, future, and the world of African myth. There is plenty of action for fans of fights, magic, and car chases, but there is also a lot fo exposition for those of us who like to think as well. It is the thoughtful script that should stick with you long after the action fades from your memory. A repeat viewing is almost a necessity to absorb the conflicting views of the 2 sides of the disagreement between the two factions of the royalty of Wakanda who see the role of the advanced civilization of Wakanda very differently. The film leaves out a lot of the plot elements and characters that the old Black Panther comic had but that should not bother most viewers. This film is still a stunning achievement by Marvel and certainly changes the studio's status among its peers as a major player in the business of film making.
My only real disappointment are the action sequences, which though well made, are somewhat too fast, too quickly edited, and too confusing for these tired aged eyes.

Everything about Black Panther is so refreshing that we are dived into the cultural aspects and life what Black Panther is up to after the events of Civil War. Similar to Wonder Woman, this film is documenting the social construct of what this film is set to be and it’s way more than just a regular action movie. The blazing choreography, cinematography, directing, performances, and the soundtrack of this film really packed a big punch that it already set a monumental standard for the MCU. Ryan Coogler, you proved us that you can actually direct a superhero movie and it’s very well made than any other MCU movie I’ve ever seen, you sir are a genius, also, the female cinematographer will get that Oscar in the near future if she haven’t won yet and you’re a Marvel of doing this! If you haven’t seen Black Panther, you really want to see it on 3D or IMAX before Infinity War drops!! (Also to those on Metacritic that are childlishly bashing towards this film, you’re a lowhearted right-wing Drumpf limpriding bigot that wants to get attention even though this film proves to be one of the most influential superhero films ever made and I can’t see why Black Panther offended you so much, instead look at yourself in the mirror and realize you are the problem. Diversity is everywhere and you can’t do anything about it, we are all human. This is how any comic book movie should be made, in fact, it's how most good or great comic book movies like; 'Spider-Man 2' (2004), 'The Dark Knight' (2008), 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (2014) and 'Logan' (2017) were made. Under the direction of Ryan Coogler ('Fruitvale Station' and 'Creed'), this movie draws on deep themes, is filled with emotion, and has some of the most well-developed characters in the Marvel Universe. This movie depends more on substance than it does on style. The movie takes place not long after the events of 'Captain America: Civil War' (2016) and we see T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) preparing to return to his home, Wakanda, after the civilians mourn the death of their former King, T'Chaka (John Kani), it is now T'Challa's place to take the throne and be the rightful king. We get a very well detailed glimpse into the somewhat advanced world of Wakanda and the culture. Despite it being a fictional location, Coogler, along with his usual collaborators of production designers and cinematographers, make Wakanda feel real. You feel like this is an actual location filled with people who have a belief system. Our main villain is Eric Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) who has an agenda against Wakanda, and what they do with the rarest metal on earth, the vibranium (same metal used for Black Panther's costume and Captain America's Shield). He gets help from Klaue (Andy Serkis) to steal an artifact and travel to Wakanda and take what he thinks was stolen from him. 'Black Panther' is one of Marvel's best films alongside; 'Iron Man' (2008), 'The Avengers' (2012), 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (2014) and 'Captain America: Civil War' (2016). Ryan Coogler does an impressive job to develop the Black Panther's story well and show his arc and what he learns. Boseman once again, proves he is this character, and shares some terrific chemistry with Lupita Nyong'o and Letitla Wright who play his love interest and sister respectively. Also, a lot of the supporting cast do a fantastic job at contributing to the movie. Not one of them feel as if they were wasted. Some of the final battle scenes do suffer from an overabundance of CGI which does make the film - or those scenes in particular - feel incomplete and animated. But, the engaging story and emotionally investing characters are enough to make this worth the Marvel formula. Also, thankfully, the humor is kept extremely minimal. It's not one-joke-a-minute like 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' (2017), where when a dramatic moment happens, it's cut off by comedy. Here, Ryan Coogler allows all of the emotional and deep moments to sink in and stick with you. Also, Killmonger is one of the best MCU villains since Obidiah Stane and Loki, simply because he has an agenda, and there is a good amount of screen-time devoted to developing his character and his reasons for what he does. Coogler has made one of the most interesting entries in the MCU, and right now, 'Avengers: Infinity War' (2018) is even more exciting than ever. Expand

In most movies, there is a point (or three) when I look at my clock, hoping things will end soon. There was no such boredom-point in Black Panther. The visuals were gorgeous, the action exciting, and the world intriguing.
When I say "the visuals were gorgeous," I mean jaw-dropping. It was a huge part of why the movie worked so well for me. The plot and characters were fine, but the look was what made me invest emotionally. Colorful, exuberant, textured, and sleek.
The only thing I felt was a real problem with the movie was the main villain. They tried so hard to make him hip and relatable that it frequently felt like he didn't belong in the movie. That may have been intentional, playing up the outsider vibe, but it broke the immersion for me. Also? There were times it felt like he was pandering, sort of a "We cool, and I'm'a spout lines that let you know we deserve awards." He almost brought my rating down to an eight. (But the movie did give me war-rhinos, and those are worth almost a whole point by themselves.)
Warning: the fight scenes, battle, and car chase and such are kickass, but you may grow bored if you aren't also interested in seeing another culture. Parts of the Thor movies take place in Asgard, but it's only a backdrop rather than something that matters... in contrast, Wakanda feels very present and relevant within Black Panther. Somehow, this movie made me feel like a participant in the ceremony and affairs of a mythical/sci-fi African kingdom. Weird, but awesome.

We may well could be in front of "The Movie" of the MCU, by virtue of its coldness by man-made entertainment or fantastic narratives as a plot base, placing a homogeneous criticism on race, social chaos, feminism, power, politics, technology, honor and human demons, an unusual maneuver hitherto by the company that works perfectly in the ideal story, as T'Challa, king of Wakanda, becomes a milestone in the history of comic film adaptations, because of it's the first one that manages to blur that unresectable concentration by comedy and action in order to enter a field of more realistic, moralistic and compelling treatment, of course, without relegating an exciting, kinetic and fearless process to reach that stage. Another of its many strengths, which is present in the solid screenplay, is the important participation of women in the storyline. Just like "Wonder Woman" did, this film proudly represents what it means to be a woman of color, an impressive achievement — even if it's sad to mention: what differentiates white and black women? —for those "minorities", since each one of them receives a virtuous development, each one treasures a coherent and exciting dramatic background, daring individuals with hopeful characteristics; courageously intelligent believers, figures who honor two of the least respected groups by a society that grows in machismo and vanity: women and black people. In addition to writing rich and electrifying stories and foundations for them, the fighting scenes, which lies on the shoulders of the Dora Milaje, are superb, very close to Patty Jenkins' spectacular combats executed by the Amazons, the relation is valid thanks to the impact of these gigantic set-pieces that ends up being inspiring, getting to raise another important analogy. Visually, Coogler's feature film is a glorious feast. It can claim to have the same bravery and power in the pictures as the most recent release of the company, as it represents a radical color and style opposite with respect to Taika Waititi's colorful ode, here sobriety leads to sublimity in many of the scenes that enroll with honor in the best of the MCU; it's impossible to believe how the studio is surpassed by each new entry and this is no exception. Wakanda is as beautiful as complex thanks to the hard work of Rachel Morrison, the art & production department and anyone involved in the creative and artistic process. There are many people agree that Ludwig Göransson's score will be a strong contender for several gold awards. In addition to a lot of praises, the accompanying melodies and specific compositions that nourish fight sequences, moments of tension or a trivial talk are spectacular, his score has a great influence by African culture, drums and instruments are compactly intermingled with the vitality and extravagance of heroic melodies, a necessary choice as thanks to this important effect, the film manages to be what it is, a representative marvel. It should be noted that the soundtrack created in the name of the film by Kendrick Lamar goes very much in the style of his songs and is concordant; especially "Pray For Me" included in one of the most stylistic scenes, where The Weeknd's stunning vocals shine on their own.

And finally: Ryan Coogler. It's not odd that the film opens in Oakland, California, because the filmmaker is from there, he knows the ailments of his people. The film works in many fields, it's perceptible the effort in the idea and it's perceptible that the director knew how to portray what on the paper seemed so difficult, here, he's not limited to using a fantastic language because he also mixes culture and diversity in a film that will serve as a catapult to fame and opportunities. The American director and screenwriter presents one of the most interesting visions put on the genre, because it's one with foundation and purpose: to reach the heart of minorities, giving a message of peace, union and equality, symbolized by a hopeful ending very similar to "The Last Jedi's" final scene, a little boy starts dreaming.

"Black Panther" by Ryan Coogler transforms what a superhero movie must be, delivering children of color an idealized model with which they can dream now. In the long run, the film from the "Fruitvale Station" director and screenwriter works in many fields at the same time, it serves as a social commentary on the selfishness of the white people, politics, vices and discrimination while coherently produces a novel and unusual journey among Wakanda's technological and fascinating landscapes. Somehow, it's the "Get Out" of Marvel Studios, and reverses the comic-adaptation formula, placing its hero in harsh situations that can be compared to the real-life difficulties of a normal person. By far, one of the most different and original superhero flicks to date,

The story-line kind of goes as expected, but the acting and heart combined with the visual effects and gadgets make Black Panther a very engaging film all the way through.

My usual complaints with the MCU after like the first Avengers movie is that they lack any real voice and instead they are just standard, safe but fun movies that are shot rather blandly. And while Black Panther has the same look as a regular MCU film, Ryan Coogler's voice is heard! He adds a distinct style and layer to the MCU cannon, not just with some subtle social commentary, but also that it just feels like more effort was made for Coogler to have his spin on it than just some generic Hollywood director to be involved. The acting is great all around, with Chadwick Boseman being great as the main lead, Michael B Jordan is great as the antagonist, Killmonger (who is also one of the best main antagonists the MCU have, right up there with Loki and Vulture), and Letita Wright nearly stealing the show as Shuri, which is no easy task with Andy Serkis being gleefully menacing. The story is also well crafted too with themes of old vs. new of traditions, with the previously mentioned subtle social commentary sprinkled in there to give the story more weight to certain audiences. The comedy is great too, as instead of being overloaded with jokes like in Thor Ragnarok and even Spider-Man Homecoming, it's well balanced between the main story (although it does have a cringe worthy reference to "WHAT ARE THOSE?"). The only real complain I have is that the action is hard to follow at times due to quick cuts and the camera not focusing on what is going on, as well as the core soundtrack curated by Kendrick Lamar being underutilized.

This movie is fantastic and I would rank it highly in the MCU cannon.

There are going to be some people who do not like this movie because they feel it is white bashing, but that could not be further from the truth. It is a well written story, and has a cast of great actors. It was one of those movies that you not only understand the villain but you can sympathize with why he does what he does. Beyond all of that it added a lot to the MCU, probably the most expect for the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. All of this is not to say that the movie is not without its fault but they pale in comparison to the positive aspects of the movie. I hope Marvel takes note of all of the good things that they did with this movie and continues it. Expand

"Black Panther" is unique in its presentation. It takes the shallowness of the super-hero genre and turns it into a three-dimensional phenomenon. The costumes and production designs are mesmerizing. The acting is equally as good, especially the performances by Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, and Letitia Wright as Shuri. Moreover, "Black Panther" tries to be more than just a super-hero movie. Director, Ryan Coogler, uses the opportunity to incorporate heart-felt messages along the way. His messages hit home. However, the messages don't get in the way for those viewers who aren't interested; you'll still have a butt-kicking experience. One more thing: there has been a lot made out of the fact that "Black Panther' has a predominantly black cast. So what? There have been many great films with predominantly black casts: "Moonlight", "Hidden Figures, "12 years a Slave," "Glory", "The Color Purple" "Malcolm X , "A Raisin in the Sun," "Boys in the Hood" and "Sounder" quickly come to mind.. We should be beyond the point where we spend time concentrating on the skin color of the actors. writers and directors (even though I just did it). And finally, I think we should give some credit to writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, who, in Fantastic Four, issue #52, July of 1966, introduced T'Challa (AKA Black Panther), a noble king, who ruled over the technologically advanced country of Wakanda. A black super hero was a ground-breaking achievement back then. I still have that comic book hanging on the wall in my office. And I shall soon have the "Black Panther" DVD as part of my film collection. Its a wonderful movie. Expand

Just saw this movie yesterday in 4DX. Really enjoyed the background story and to see so much African culture in it. The action scenes were awesome and the villian ( Killmonger ) is probably on of the most interesting characters in the MCU.

However calling Black Panther JUST a superhero movie is a lie. What works for Black Panther is that it works as a political action thriller as well, it changes a lot with the "basic" superhero movie formula. The film plots in consequence and how much small things can affect the story. The visuals are amusing and lovable. Michael B Jordan kills it as Kill Monger and for me is by far the best Marvel Villain to ever be shown on the big screen. You can feel for him and understand what is going through his mind. In the end of the film a lot of watchers will question whether Kill monger was in the wrong and that his actions were actually justifiable. You will FEEL empathy for the character. The OST is great, the Kill Monger theme with the flute especially sticks out. Also the Soundtrack from Kendrick Lamar is one of the best albums for rap that I've ever seen. The stakes feel realistic in this film, similar to TDK Or TDKR. Verdict:

Black Panther is one of the best Superhero films ever, It sets a new bar for Marvel Films. Coming into my TOP 5 Superhero films of all time

1. SM2: 9.7/10
2. TDK: 9.5/10
3. Logan: 9.3/10
4. Black Panther 9/10
5. SM: 9/10

Verdict: 9/10
