Batman is really dark; without going into spoilers, they really draw a new line in terms of what is okay for heroes to do. Superman is more of a plot device than anything else. Wonderwoman is great and as a female hero is also...awesome

What I dislike about this movie is the plot line. It's not that it has plot holes, it's that it is heavily condensed. It feels like DC or whoever is in charge is forcing script writers to jump the gun on "project justice league". Really, the amount of plot lines makes the viewer feel less attached to characters than they should be.

With that said, I think the movie is 8 out of 10 or 9 out of 10 depending on whom I talk to.
Please watch it, you wont regret it guys

So I'll get right to it. Yes, this film has some issues. Do I think they're significant ones? No. Is it better than the Nolan Batman movies, no. Is it dark and brooding? Yes. Is it totally humorless? No.

The lack of humor has been mentioned by virtually every reviewer who holds a negative view of the movie. Its an unfair accusation - firstly DC movies are always a bit less light-hearted than those of a Marvel variety. Secondly - there are genuine moments of humor which the whole screening I was at laughed at. Even one from the Dark Knight himself having come to the aid of a damsel in distress.

Affleck is a fantastic Batman - physically he's the best fit to date. As Bruce Wayne he's suitably playboy-ish when needed. This is not a young Batman who is still naive and full of hope that he can change Gotham. He' s quite obviously scarred by years of action, questioning what good he's actually achieved.

Cavill is again a good fit for Superman - a lot of the earlier parts of the movie do focus on Batman, but the Man of Steel is not ignored.

There are multiple dream scenes - and they're one of the weaker aspects of the movie for me. They do take you away from the moment, and one or two are superfluous. Removing some of these would have resulted is a lot less negativity from the harsher critics, but they're not enough to ruin the movie for me.

This movie quite obviously acts as a set up for the Justice League universe - so we get to see Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman for the first time. Shes perfectly good at whats required of her in this - I wouldn't go so far as to say shes a scene-stealer by any means though. The introduction to some of the other meta humans who will make up the JL was fine - it fitted into one of the story threads, and was pretty brief.

Another complaint leveled at the movie is the length of time it takes for Batman and Superman to get to fight each other Its a baffling complaint - akin to complaining about the shark not being seen earlier in Jaws. Its meant to be left until near the end, and its a pretty brutal fight. If you are a fan of The Dark Knight Returns, I think you'll be pretty satisfied by it.

The Doomsday fight is not as effective in my opinion, mainly due to some CGI overload. The problem is though - with Supermans powers, its hard to find someone to fight him who can provide a challenge, and the majority of his enemies are going to have to be done in CGI. A few less blasts of light might have helped though.

Overall, I thought the movie served to open us up to not only the JL movie, but the standalone Batman and Wonder Woman movies. I really liked it, without loving it. If you watched the trailer and didn't like what you saw, you won't enjoy this, so stay at home.

The movie is clearly cut in several places, bringing forth a disorganized and rushed attempt at a Justice League Cinematic Universe.

Wonder Woman is amazing and given a fantastic and bad ass music piece, with Gal Gadot being the outstanding performance of the film.

Henry Cavill's Superman still suffers and seems to simply be floating from place to place.

Ben Affleck's Batman is great and kicks ass... BUT and this is a big deal: he breaks the moral code of the character often, recklessly and with no remorse, bringing forth something more akin to the Punisher than the Batman we know and love. He is terrifying as he should be but clearly taken to a place the character does not fit.

Jeremy Irons is great as Alfred although he suffers from a lack of scenes and practically no sense of emotional bond between him and Bruce Wayne.

Amy Adam's Lois Lane is horrible in this one. She clearly does what's given to her but what's given is awful: this is a character that doesn't have the wits and sauciness of her comic book counter-part.

Eisenberg's Lex Luthor is the worst thing in the movie, even his soundtrack piece is awful and tacky. He is more of a Joker with some scientific knowledge than the calm, calculating and confident character of the comics.

Lawrence Fishburne's Perry White is a lot different from Man of Steel... long gone is the boss you would love to have, now we have a rabid tabloid fanatic that comes out as immediately dis-likable.

The soundtrack is fantastic although the majority of the set pieces are rehashes from Man of Steel. Again I cannot stress enough the awesomeness of the Wonder Woman track and the terrible Lex Luthor one.

CGI is awful and although the action is well choreographed, the CGI and filming is sloppy with several scenes confusing as a Michael Bay piece.

The plot is awful with lazy and terrible writing. An example without spoiling anything, is that a character throws something away, only to then go get it, only to then throw it away immediately again. Two classic story lines from the comics are present but they are poorly pieced together. The dream/hallucination sequences have no reason to be in the movie, as they are not even explained or of utmost importance, with the first one being ridiculous: after Super Jesus from Man of Steel, another character seems to be suffering the same messianic complex.

The raised moral and ethical questions of the movie are just laid there, mostly by third parties, and although valid and interesting, they are never pursued or analyzed.

Luthor's plot is also ridiculous and I don't mean in the traditional comic book sense: it overly relies on luck and things that couldn't be predicted to happen and yet it simply works with all its flaws, namely one character could have easily been rescued by Superman and yet the movie avoids the issue by pushing the fight with no reason. And the backup isn't even a "break glass in case of emergency" - its executed while the main one is not even halfway done.

Also, Snyder poorly attempts to excuse the destruction and death criticism of Man of Steel being repeated in a very lazy and terrible way: a news report that says most people are already not in the area because its night and their work day is over. Yet the large area is evacuated... immediately in the same scene without even showing said evacuation or without the super- heroes helping. And then immediately again in a harbor scene where the vacated premises are also immediately stated even though it seems forced and no other indications of said thing are shown.

The titular fight itself is great but suffers from the mentioned fast camera shots and CGI, and it is very clearly cut and pasted, with the duration being rather short which is a sour point. Clearly the R-rated Blu-Ray version that is to come out will show what was actually meant to be.

Know your enemy's weakness before challenging to a fight!

It is known that critics have no brain. It is the best Superman film as Henry Cavill in the red and blue suit. Yep, I know it is always DC versus Marvel, so it is then DC's reply to the 'Avengers'. I don't care their rivalries, as a film fanatic, I enjoy good films and I found it was so good. But I was a bit worried after the Superman was shown in a dark shade in the trailer, especially after Batwan was overly stylised by Nolan, I thought the black suit would take over. After watching the film I was relieved and happy that Batman was exposed.

Batman fans might have been disappointed, but for the superhero and DC fans, this film is a great treat. You can't compare it with 'Avengers', it had its own style. It follows the 'Man of Steel' and directed by the same director. Excellent cast. I have never been the Ben Affleck hater, so I had no objection to his role in this. He did good along with Cavill and others. He would do better in his solo Batman films if Zack Snyder is retained to script and direct them.

I'm not a comic book reader, so I did not know the story before the watch. I was surprised for the Wonder Woman's part in the film. The visuals were awesome, the story was unpredictable, well developed characters, cleverly composed scenes, wonderful stunt sequences and the film's overall tone was kind of dark and gloomy, a very satisfying superhero film. The content balance was perfect, but the characters did not do the same as we know Superman is a father of all superheroes.

I already watched it twice and I can't wait for its sequel. Especially looking forward for Jesse Eisenberg, because he was kind of stayed low in this and I hope his character Lex becomes much stronger. It is a PG13, and there's nothing botherable stuffs in it for the underage audience, but I felt it is targeted for adults because of the matured flavour. Don't think about that I said, just watch it, it will definitely entertain you well if not blow you away. Surely recommended to all.

Who said that it's easy to save to the world? One day you're an enigmatic hero with red cape, who wakes up every morning with a vision of salvation for all mankind. The next day, he's located in a court accused of generating extreme losses and catastrophic deaths of innocent people, yeah, it's not a joke. It's not relaxing that in the same city there is a guy with dress black and gloomy voice that is absorbing and containing some kind of hatred towards the Kriptonian.

"Clark Kent: Civil liberties are being trampled on in your city; good people living in fear.
Bruce Wayne: Don't believe everything you hear, son.
Clark Kent: I've seen it, Mr. Wayne. He thinks he's above the law.
Clark Kent: Most of the world doesn't share your opinion, Mr. Wayne.
Bruce Wayne: Maybe it's that Gotham City and me... we just have a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns"

These lines are faithful signals of the dissimilarity between them and opens the backdrop of dramatic and argumentative plot of the tape of the year.

This is the theme used by the visionary director Zack Snyder for the shocking title "BvS". This man conceives to "Ben Affleck" - in his first time as the "Dark Knight" (being the best forever) - "Henry Cavill" - for the second time as "Clark Kent" - and fire and dynamite from the movie (I'm tempted to say the best) "Gal Gadot" models to our "Wonder Woman" of this time. Do you need more attractive?' Therefore, the impressive point is won by Jesse Eisenberg as Alexander Joseph Luthor "Lex" (I think neither Bryan Cranston could overcome him).

The awaited confrontation of two of the characters most iconic DC Comics (for me, they're three) is not a nonsense without remedy as critics claim. It is one of the best films of heroes in 25 years and the experience improves if you live it in IMAX.

"Dawn of Justice" is a colorful painting with a range of dark colors for the eyes, with many surprises and tricks up its sleeve, with impeccable performances (it is difficult to see it in films of this genre), with the exact content of humor, with profound and eloquent drama, with effects from other world, with a subliminal entrance of characters and superhumans who are just around the corner and seeing the opening of DC with this film, Marvel Studios has a hard job.

We are all tired of the adaptations made a monetary purposes that takes advantage of its great label. Thank you before hand that the second phase of Marvel Entertaiment finished last year. That hole has filled it (and possibly continue filling) production company Warner Bros., debuting in the genre with a prelude that excites even to the most older guys. No more films of superheroes full of comedy and silly stories (Marvel), "BvS" praises to their genre giving a good premise, good combination of genres and an exceptional show. Hopefully that "Civil War" will open the third phase with a different focus because Warner has projects such like rice.

"Batman V Superman" tells around the entire film its synthesis, it abstaining to the denouement of have a closed end. Around of all the footage, references the "metahumans" is constant and sometimes makes us think that this is a facade to inaugurate the world of the "Justice League".

Diane Prince, is still undetectable to the press but for others it is very visible. Before entry the audience at cinema, they already wondered in what second reappear our warrior lady, the wait was suffocating but she illuminates the scene at the Lex's conference, her elegance, her bearing, her physical, although the criticisms initials about Gal, she is the biggest attraction of the movie and the next appearance of the Queen Amazon will have more time on screen delighting us with her presence.

You know, throughout all marketing and promotion I felt rage and anger with all the expectation which was about Affleck but and Henry?. I confess that this man was with who I had greater empathy, and his sad death made me cry. It is impossible to select characters by their interpretations and characters in "BvS".

Affleck's Batman is the best in the history of Batman, his metaphysical transformation for the boy of Gotham was extreme, it exhibiting his effort with his performance, a man who is tired of looking like a hero destroys the city. Salve or destroy?

The twist of the plot that gets the film is suitable, because everyone knew that if a superhero loses, he would lose credibility and would seem less, which so decide to join them. That the better trick.

"BvS" revives the love of the audience providing a faithful adaptation to comic. So, Snyder has closed with a spectacular finish, their duty has been fulfilled and is prepared to start engines in April, approaching the chaos (in the good way) Perfect for fans and for the public in general, "Batman V Superman" seduces and impacts, full of magnetism and loyalty, the wait is over , we are satiated, film take the sweet of the genre showing the hidden side of the coin.

Some might not like new Lex very much. Doomsday might have been improved. But the things they did right easily outweighs those issues.

Movie takes a lot of time to establish the motivations and stories behind the two titular characters. Story is rich and has a few surprises for the people who thought the trailers showed too much. And the movie ends in a way no other superhero movie hasn't.

Easily a 9/10. But since no movie is perfect and I personally love these characters very much I can stretch it to a 10/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie needs to be seen as a stepping stone to the DC universe that they are just starting to build, in order to properly see it in its full scope. It's not easy setting up future installments while maintaining focus on the original script, and to non-comic fans some of these subplots might come a bit left sided. But to those who know what's coming and what this movie is trying to build every one of those hints where really exciting.
The tone of the movie is what's to be expected from a Snyder movie, it's a style that doesn't appeal to many but it fits the DC comics tone perfectly. Granted, the editing could have seen more work to give the movie a more concise feel, and trying to encapsulate so many famous comic book story arcs into just one movie might not have been the best idea.
But overall there's not a critic in the world that can tell me this is a bad movie that doesn't deserve watching or any praise. Ben Affleck is the perfect rendition of Miller's TDKR's vision of a seasoned, brutal Batman, and most viewers are so shocked by his manslaughter they miss the whole character development. Jeremy Iron's brilliant performance of Alfred clearly shows us he's become cruel, the appearance of Superman drives him to become even more extreme and by the end of the movie Superman's sacrifice inspires him to do something bigger and better.
Gal Gadot simply stole the show, commanding every scene she was in, which was not an easy task considering Ben's performance. All the action scenes were superb, and I may be biased because seeing the Trinity on movie was something I'd never expect to see in my lifetime, but I was at the edge of my seat during both major fight scenes in the movie.

I'll be seeing it again tomorrow for sure, and maybe even a third time a week from now. Thoroughly enjoyed the movie, can't wait for Justice League and the expanding of the DCCU.

Ben, Henry, Gal, great job.

To Mr. Snyder, you the best action director of all times. So all you
nitwit, dummies and dunces who gives a rating lower than 7/10 or 75%
pass, are haters either paid to discourage the profit gain or just
plain dunce. Go watch the sun rise and shine then clowns. I am both a
marvel and DC fan. But Dawn of Justice and Man of steel were way better than any marvel movie release to date.

DC, factually speaking is and will always be better than Marvel
(including TV shows as well,DC is conquering with the likes flash,

comics/adaptation.

Go strong Dawn of Justice. Congrats to all the cast and crew. I cant

If you liked Man of Steel or Watchmen then you'll like this movie. The performances were superb, and the cinematography was great. There were some choppy cuts, but I believe that will be resolved in the 3-hour directors cut (too long for theater viewings). If you wanted 5 movies leading up to this (eg. the beginning Marvel movies) then I understand complaining that it feels rushed. But, if you, like many others would rather not wait years for a team-up movie like this, then please realize what this movie had to do to make it work, and understand the comic-centric angle Zack Snyder brought to this piece. I enjoy movies, but I love well made movies. This is a well crafted, well made movie as far the super hero genre goes. I have seen 95% of the super hero movies and I can honestly say I think this is just about my favorite one, its dark, gritty and beautiful. Lots of epic scenes and imagery that will stay with you. Well done to the whole team that made this movie.

This and man of steel fully respect the comics, those critics who bashed it, probably love the high school humor from Marvel comics and love the "realistic" Batman from the Dark Knight trilogy. Well news flash - comic book movies are not meant to be realistic! You people do not get it: this movie was never meant to have character development or a plot or a story, it is just a starter course for the main course - Justice League. It is meant for true comic book fans, people who already know the character's backstory and just want to see Batman fight with Superman, they don't want to see for 1 hour how the character became a superhero, they already know!
So, to the critics who gave the movie scores under 50, please, quit your jobs, or better yet, stick to casual movies like Adam Sandler's or Hunger Games and rate those 11/10 if you can't tell the difference between a masterpiece and a piece of crap

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Firstly I'm a comic fan of all types. I love marvel and DC but I love then both for very different reasons. I love Marvel for the fantastical universes they create and populate with the unexpected heroes. DC I love fire vastly different reasons; it is the dystopian nihilist visions of the impact of superheroes that engage me.

Is this film perfect? Not in a million years but as a faithful reproduction of the DC universe it is perfect for my own expectations. I feel that Synders representation of the impact of superheroes in a fully fleshed out modern world; it is the impact of choices and the devastation that superhuman powers could have are central to this film.

If you don't love watchmen and are not fully invested in the nihilist DC universe that is represented in the Man of Steel, the Dark Knight and the Death of Superman series then this is not the film for you. At all. I'd even advise you to stay away because it will do nothing for you except to potentially annoy you.

This film is made by a fan, for the fans and will be confusing for any one else. The film expects the viewer the have a good grasp of the lore as there are significant plot holes in the film that are only alluded to in the film.

If you expect a happy film with happy tones then your in the wrong place.

I loved it. The pacing was great, batman was recreated impeccably, wonder woman was used well. It looks great and sounds incredible.

Bravo Mr Synder, bravo. From one fan to another, thank you.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. great movie, i thought Superman was more of the story then a character in the movie. the Justice League cameos were a little short then again they were cameos, although the Flash's cameo was a little puzzling it was great to Ezra Miller keeping it to the source material. i understand that the movie critics were looking forward to a "Avengers-Disney" style movie, maybe they came into watching the movie without knowing the characters or the DC Universe at large which is full of great stories. all and all this movie is worth your time, all the nay-sayers who initially watched might change their tune after seeing the director cut. it's a 10 from me, go into this movie with doubt cause you'll leave surprised. The cast is fantastic, the story is great and the music is wow so powerful.

I read all the negative and mixed reviews before watching it on a Thursday night screening, critics really don't want this universe to kick off, and they failed at trying to stop that(record breaking box office numbers lol). All I have to sayI read all the negative and mixed reviews before watching it on a Thursday night screening, critics really don't want this universe to kick off, and they failed at trying to stop that(record breaking box office numbers lol). All I have to say is that they are wrong.

I was blown away by this movie. Everyone was perfect, I even enjoyed Eisenberg's Lex Luthor! He's honestly the only one getting heat, if people didn't like him it was because of Snyder's interpretation of him, not Jesse himself, his acting was great. And Ben Affleck's Batman, best on screen Batman to date, he nailed it, best part of the movie. Not to mention Gal Gadot's wonder woman...I'm in love. Of course Henry played a solid Superman as we expected, I'm sure we are all on board for him after watching Man of Steel.

It has its flaws just like any other movie, but by the end you won't care about them. The Good outweighs the bad tremendously! Zack Snyder made a beautiful movie and his team did a great job, and I look forward to the rest of the DC universe. Props to Hans and Tom, the soundtrack was superb! I was not expecting such big emotional hits from this movie, I'm a grown ass man and I literally cried, I haven't felt this emotional in a movie since Passion of the Christ.

Strongly recommend watching it at least twice! It gets better each time!

This movie is vastly better than any of the recent Amazing Spider-man movies (which did not receive anywhere near this level of criticism) and I liked it better than the Avengers.

Snyder is a visual director who seems to create scenes first, then fill them with characters and finally add a story to them. And this otherwise amazing movie suffers because of that. Secondly, this film IMO is best superhero movie made after the Dark Knight film by Christopher Nolan not because it has the an intricate storyline like the one Nolan created, but because it pushes the envelope of what a superhero movie can be. I for one am sick of watching what seems like endless one liner comedy superhero films that Kevin Feige and Marvel vomit out every summer and find BvS to be wind of refreshing air due to its darker tone, deeper take on characters and its overall adult orientation. With regards to themes, they are Judaeo-Christian themes sprinkled liberally across this film and a unique take on a kind of "Friedrich Nietzsche atheism" in the character of Lex Luthor. Overall, the film was absolutely amazing. If you hated the theatrical version, don't hesitate to watch the ultimate cut because it is far superior and fills up the so called plotholes "critics" lamented. Expand

It kept me interested for the whole time and it did so by cleverly swapping between action and storytelling. I think it reached as far in the direction of an intelligent movie as possible for an action movie . And that seems to infuriate people who wanted a simple plot of Batman fighting Superman with a lot of fireworks and without the need to pay attention. I really do not care how close/far it is to the comics, it's a top tier cinema and it deserves more praise. Expand

It's dark, ambitious, and highly intelligent, has real warmth at its heart, and is better acted and directed than any comic book movie to date. Also, Zack Snyder does a far better job of pulling together all the various plot and character strands than Josh Whedon does in the Avengers films.

Indeed, I have a theory as to why Snyder's work gets panned, while garbage like The Avengers and The Force Awakens gets universally praised: critics today, like a large section of society, are infantilised, and thus are incapable of processing movies that require any amount of thought beyond five seconds. I mean, the entire plot of BvS is driven by fear of fascism and totalitarianism, with some of the characters - including Bruce - acting hysterically as a result. This is really weighty stuff, and worthy of acclaim for a comic book movie; but not one critic I have read appears to have grasped this central theme, even though it is rammed into their faces from the very start with the unsettling nod to Nietzsche (whom I would wager most critics have never even heard of).

It is, though, heartening to see that far more of the audience liked this film than did the critics, and that it made a heap of money. So perhaps there is hope that there will continue to be a place in cinema for Mr Snyder, who never fails to create really meaningful, visually stunning work.

It really really was awesome... Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice presents the definition of "The Great Movie"!
I'm here to talk about The Theatrical Cut and The Ultimate Edition too. Actually I loved both of them!

I enjoyed every single moment in this movie -both cuts- from the operation credits -and I actually knew that it's gonna be perfectly directed- 'til the ending credits.

As the score, Hans Zimmer did it again with a great, ear-comfort and fitting soundtrack.

The direction is great, and the CGI was mistake-less and eye-comforting in every possible way it could be!

As the performances, I have no comment but AWESOME! A lot of people will disagree with me, but for me they were amazing!

And the last thing is the story, that satisfied me as a huge fan of DC, more than any other movie in the DCEU! For sure BvS is my favorite DC -and not only DCEU- movie of all time!

(Spoiler free) I'm a superhero fan both DC and Marvel, with Batman being my favourite character. BvS was extremely disappointing for me especially considering it is the setup for the future of DC's movie slate.

It's hard to judge a movie sometimes but I think one of the best ways to do it is ask yourself; "would I buy this movie on BR/DVD, and watch it without skipping scenes?" In my case, it would be no and I'm surprise and again, disappointed by that.

CONS:
Obviously, the movie will rake in the money and the movies will continue to be made, but I seriously hope directors, editors and story lines are given serious thought in the future because this was a failure.
First up, and it's not a concern for me, but no, don't take your KIDS. It is violent, but more so the slow build-up and overly long run time will have the kids fidgeting to get out :)
Also, if you are not familiar with some superhero lore, there could be a fair bit of confusion. I would hope the already announced directors cut will flesh some of the elements out, however there is a difference between "easter eggs," and simply not bothering to explain things.
The editing was horrible - seriously some of the worst in cinema. Beyond mixing in dreams with real life scenarios, the constant cutting from scene to scene didn't make sense as not all of them were related. Snyder - try finishing a scene and then moving on to the next one. If you are concerned the scene will be too boring or slow in one hit...well, maybe it shouldn't be there.
As mentioned, the run time is WAY too long. When you watch it you'll understand - do we really need that first 5mins or so. Aren't we done with origins...?
The story line...it was okay but had serious issues. Superman's reason to fight Batman (the reason you are going to see the movie!) is ridiculous. It really degraded Superman and while it could of made Lex look really powerful, it just fell flat, as did the resolution.
The introduction of other meta-humans....why like that? It was SO poor. Seeing less of them in the ending monologue would of been better suited and, in my opinion, more exciting for fans.
Lex Luthor was miscast big time....but not as lame as Doomsday who probably could of been held off until a future movie to be fleshed out. And Lois Lane - so fiery in MoS. In BVs - I lost count how many times she had to be rescued, and sometimes over bigger concerns.
Finally, the action was a mix of awesome....and a complete mess....Michael Bay "Transformers" mess. Sometimes it was hard to know what was happening when, and to whom...

PROS:
Batman!! (And I'm not being bias). Ben Affleck did a fantastic job and I can only hope a standalone Batman movie is created featuring Affleck as Batman in his prime. The warehouse scene...best ever.

5/10: Hoping for better in the future.

Superman is finally here, and it’s now official that DC is trying to match Marvel, but lacks the skillfulness. Batman v. Superman is probably one of, if not the most, hyped films of the year, where 2 of the most iconic comic-book characters finally come together on the big screen. Batman v. Superman is action packed, crowded, and rushed making it a true mixed bag. For those who want to enjoy a great action film, and don’t care about some of the finer details, this will probably live up to expectations.
As with it’s predecessor Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman handles the action sequences really well. The film’s special effects are also very good, and the character designs are very well done. It seems with this film most of the positives revolve around Ben Affleck and Batman, as he seems to be the main focus of the film. Batman’s characterization seems to be the not just a shining spot in the cloud of carnage that is this film, but possibly one of the best Batman characterizations ever.
On that note Batman saves this film, because the rest of the film is in a word, a mess. The film tries to do too much, which seems odd since Marvel’s The Avengers was able to handle the same task perfectly. When looking at it Superman, Lois Lane, Wonder-Woman, Lex Luthor, and other various characters are underdeveloped simply because they aren’t given enough screen time. Not only are they not given enough screen time, but the writers rush through shoddy plot points simply to get back to Batman, as if they know the only thing they were getting right was Batman.
The issue with that is if the focus is Batman, then they made the wrong film here, and the film comes across as a wasted opportunity. The problem is the objective of the film, which was to do too much, and therefore rush through the underdeveloped story. Looking at it they either should have done a Batman standalone film or a smaller version of this, which focuses on Batman and Superman, not Wonder-Woman, Lois Lane, Perry White, and countless other throwaway characters. This is where Marvel gets it right and DC still hasn’t figured it out.
In the end Batman v. Superman is a decent popcorn flick, that contains amazing visuals and action sequences. The film isn’t really bad, it just isn’t great, when it really could have and therefore should have been. It should be said that while the film is rushed, crowded, paper-thin, and a little repetitive Ben Affleck and Zack Snyder did do a pretty good job getting Batman right, and that leaves potential for this franchise, but it’s hanging on a thread. In the end if you’re on the edge about seeing this film, it depends on what you want, if you want great action and visuals this is your film, if you want great story and characters, this is a weaker film.

Lex Luthor is portrayed horrendously. He is nothing like the comics have set him up as. Should have really used Injustice, or Smallville, or other Superman films for inspiration. But BvS' Lex is just absurd. It's almost as though they were trying to go for a Joker vibe, which is ridiculous. Lex is controlled chaos, Joker is apocalyptic anarchy.
Ultimately with everything they've tried to set up, the end product feels so rushed because they wasted so much time on pieces that impacted the film in no way at all.
In short,
Affleck is a good Batman
Cavill is alright as Superman (was better in MoS)
Gadot is a good Wonder Woman (surprised me)
Eisenberg is an awful Lex Luthor

In my opinion, Batman should have had his solo film first. to more establish him in the DCU, instead of what just felt like shoe horning him in.

There are too many stories stuffed into this movie with several not getting a proper resolution.
The only redeeming quality of this movie is the Batman and his fight scenes, which are actually quite cool.

I was really fascinated by the subtle religious allegories here: Superman as a Christ figure, Batman as fallen humanity, Luther as Lucifer, and even Doomsday as the Beast from Revelation. That's pretty heavy stuff for a superhero movie!

Let me start by saying, I see why this movie has gotten bad reviews from many, but the movie is incredible and here is why:

There are many scenes that can confuse your average movie-goer. This is because the movie requires some prior DC universe knowledge to fully comprehend what you are seeing. having a large DC comics collection and being a major fan of the DC universe I had no problem with this.

Now I know you're saying " Well shouldn't movies explain scenes like?" In most cases yes, however if they took the time to explain all of those details now the movie would be several hours longer. I won't mention which scenes I'm talking about but if you've seen it you will know.

So this movie is a movie that plays like a comic book almost. It is actually made for the fans of DC comics. Why is this good? Often movie studios don't give the kind of creative control to directors to let them make movies that require some prior knowledge (but Snyder also did this with Watchmen), but the fact that it was made this way will make the lore and story much deeper and connected. Many off the things you saw will make sense when the Justice League and Wonder Woman movies come out respectively. Directors have a choice: They can make a movie that appeals to the largest group of people, or a movie that appeals to the fans of the actual source material, Zack chose the later and I'm glad he did. If you want a crash course in some DC lore I recommend watching some of the animated films like Justice League: War.

Other than that notion: Batman was a total badass, superman had depth, the batmobile and batwing were incredible. Wonder Woman was awesome and against popular opinion I even liked Jesse Eisenberg's iteration of Lex Luthor.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and will definitely be seeing it again. If you don't know much about DC, study up on the DC universe if you like that sort of thing and it makes the movie that much better, but even if you don't the movie is cool as ****

This is a film where all the superhero nerds will love it, while older people will probably enjoy My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 more. I was extremely blown away from the last hour of the film. One of the best hour-long fight sequence I've seen in a long time! The performances were all superb, in particular Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, and Jesse Eisenberg. The only "flaw" with this film is the first hour or so was a bit boring and dragging, just to introduce the characters of course. However, the last hour of the film is emotional, violent, entertaining, and visually stunning. If you've seen the trailers, you probably seen a major portion of this film. However, the film is still very entertaining and I was visually stunned. I think you have to see Man of Steel first in order to fully understand what is happening in this film. If you had expected Batman v Superman, than that is what you will get. Now about wonder woman - she is fine and pretty, but she was barely in this film, like around 15 minutes. Also, doomsday was okay if you've seen the trailer, that's just what he looked like. There is however a major plot twist that did feel a bit rushed, however I still enjoyed it. I hope they make a non-cash grab sequel to this film, and Henry Cavill/Ben Affleck should make another movie together. (93/100) Expand

- Actuaciones impecables.

Overall, though, Snyder did well with blending Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns" with parts of the animated movie "Justice League War" and the storyline of Superman v Doomsday. At first, I was worried about the casting of Affleck as Wayne/Batman, but after seeing his performance, I was very impressed. Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal of Luthor was pretty good for what they were going for and I can see him becoming an even stronger character in future projects. Gal Gadot was a brilliant casting and has the potential to really deliver in the Wonder Woman role. Overall, very well done movie. Expand

Everything was phenomenal. The only critique I have is I thought the dream sequence was unnecessary clutter amidst an already complicated (but still quite coherent) screenplay. The movie itself is a glorious mess. The pacing is all over the place, lagging for large portions of the movie, to a degree that threatens to lull the audience to sleep, and then suddenly ramping up to a speed that moves too fast for the plot in many places. There is little to no narrative flow as this movie more or less strings along unrelated scenes, end-to-end, which takes an already murky plot and throws it into near-indecipherable territory. This seems to be the biggest point of consternation for critics and is honestly a decent reason for Warner Bros. to consider asking Zack Snyder to take a step back from the director's chair, as these are all career-long vices of his (Watchmen, Man of Steel being past evidence of this);

And yet, despite all those fundamental mistakes, there's a lot to like here. Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot both proved to near perfect castings, despite early internet outrage directed toward both. If there's one major take away from this movie, it's that both character's solo movies in the DCEU have the ground work in place to be outstanding. Both Jeremy Irons and Laurence Fishburne were great too and hopefully as the DC Universe unfolds, we get even more of these ancillary characters. Also, as has become standard fare for Zack Snyder films, the film is beautiful. For everything he lacks as a story teller, the dude does some absolute magic with camera work.

Condensed down into the most generalized version, this film is being crucified to an unnecessary degree. Sure, the film whiffs on many fundamental chec lists but at the same time, the good largely outweighs the bad. It's by no means perfect (particularly if you're not the type to jump out of your seat at tiny little easter eggs embedded specifically to tease Justice League). That being said, there's enough here to not only watch this movie, but also be optimistic about DC's cinematic universe going forward.

Even though I felt the hype for the appearance of a lot of the Justice League members, I wasn't satisfied by it, not because I wanted more, but because (in my own mind) the self mystery of the characters and their vague mentions could have been perfect. DC/Warners have taken the bold move of making their own brand of movies rather than copy the Marvel blueprint and are getting lambasted for this. Critics just can't get it through their heads that there can be two brands of superhero movies. Those who lament the loss of Donner's Superman were probably the same people who criticised Singer for copying Donner. Affleck as Batman and Cavill as Superman are near perfect casting, whilst Gadot as Wonder Woman absolutely steals the show. In many ways this is a movie for comic fans. I can certainly see confusion among those who aren't comic-savvy. The movie has its issues, but it is ballsy movie-making that swung hard. Those who loathe this movie either went in with preconceived hate or are just attention seeking IMO. Expand

That opening scene was beautiful for all of its four or so minutes. As for Gal Gadot, I never even liked Wonder Woman, but Gal Gadot is great. She's got old world poise, she can act, she's sexy and vicious. And her costume is toned down rather than having the stupid bright colors I've seen in the comics. Who ever woulda' "thunk" that the one actor in the movie I've never heard of would be the one to carry it? Problem is. She's not in that much of it, so by and large the film falls flat. I would buy a DVD of just her scenes, but never of this entire bloated, choppy, unnecessarily complicated movie which uses too much sketchy shorthand to convey events, leaving the narrative broken, and which also for all of its two and a half hours barely bothers to convey any character. These guys are flat even for a superhero movie.

I couldn't stand the Superman movie, so I turned it off before the climactic scene. So I didn't quite get the beginning of this film which takes place during that final battle from the Superman movie. As best as I can tell aliens invaded Earth (Kryptonians I think) and Superman fended them off. In the process people died; for some reason Batman blames Superman rather than the bad guys who attacked Earth. The reason he blames Superman is never explained.

This short paragraph contains a MILD SPOILER. Nothing serious. Very mild. It would probably be in the trailer if it was interesting enough to be. Later, Louis Lane (who inexplicably does not have black hair) is captured by bad guys in the middle east. Other bad guys show up and kill them. Then Superman appears and rescues Louis. Here again, for some unknown reason the public blames Superman for killing people in this scenario, even though I only saw bad guys killed, and they were killed by bullets shot by the other bad guys. I saw no civilian casualties anywhere.

If the idea of Superman being a threat were central to the plot, which it is, you think they would visually make the reason for this abundantly clear, but instead, we are left scratching our heads over how people could blame Superman for anything. But they do, and Batman decides he's going to battle Superman.

Most of the above you can get from the trailers (and the title). I won't spoil what happens in the fight between the two of them, but it has to do with some utterly inexplicable nonsense involving Lex Luthor. The only good thing about the final battle is that Gal Gadot shows up.

My recommendation: Wait until the movie is available for rental (and until the rental price goes down to a few bucks) and then rent it and fast forward to Gal Gadot's scenes. You might get 20 minutes or so. Not a lot but barely enough to make the rental worthwhile.

When you are making a movie aboutI was very hyped to see this movie but when I saw the reviews, my hype when down and went to see the movie with an open mind. Although this movie is not one of the worst, its necessarily isn't decent either. When you are making a movie about two iconic superheroes fighting each other and then rush alot of new characters from the DC cinematic universe to lead to another movie, that's where it falls flat on its face. Although it mostly stays true to the comics, the way the movie was made altogether is the problem here. SPOILER ALERT. Here's what I feel:

Lets start with the POSITIVES:

1. Ben Affleck pulls off a great Bruce Wayne/Batman. When you see him in action, its great and the best live action Batman yet and the highlight of the movie for me since I'm a Batman fan.
2. When you get to see Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, its pretty badass and plays the character well.
3. Superman in action is also great too.
4. When you actually get to see Batman and Superman fight. Although its not what I expected and could of been better, its a decent fight and its something we haven't seen before ever.
5. The other supporting cast members including Jeremy Irons as Alfred and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White all did good.
6. The final act with Superman fighting Doomsday was freaking cool and then later on, Wonder Woman joins him.
7. The Plot twist with Superman dying and then seeing the dirt on his coffin rise up was amazing.
8. The story telling.

NEGATIVES:
1. There is no excuse of letting the poor editing exist in this movie. Literally in the first hour, you have no clue what was going on. The transitions were terrible. This seems like two movies.
2. It's also very unacceptable that two hours in the movie, they fight. As I was watching the movie, I kept telling myself when are they gonna fight, when are they gonna fight.
3. Superman is an undeveloped character just like how he was in Man of Steel. He has no charisma. He's a very 2 dimensional character.
4. The movie has an unfocused narrative. You have no idea what the movie is about. Instead of focusing on the plot of Batman going against Superman, its more like Batman and Superman and other DC characters. It's also like a Batman and Superman solo movie came together.
5. Coming from that, they even put the Batman origin story in there. WHY? We all know the origin of Batman. It was very irrelevant that they put that in the movie.
6. I liked all the cast members except I have a problem with one: Jesse Eisenberg. His interpretation of Lex Luthor was terrible. He was not very convincing as a super villain. He was very unpleasant to watch and just someone to laugh at. Everyone knew this was a massive miscasting and that he shouldn't be in the movie.

Overall this movie was alright. Its not horrible but still is a HUGE letdown. The critics are right. Although it does stay true to the fans, it just crappy filmmaking. Although the movie has some cool moments in the first two hours, its just boring and more like a drama than an action movie. The last 30 minutes was the best part of the whole movie. I really wanted this movie to be good. I did actually have a gut feeling that this movie is gonna disappoint before I even saw the reviews. Supposedly, Zack Snyder is gonna direct the Justice League movie and I'm sorry but they put the movie in the wrong hands. Just from what I saw of what he did with Man of Steel and this movie, its gonna flop and its a shame. I give Batman v Superman a 5/10

My take on Batman vs Superman (Spoiler Free)
If you were worried about Ben Affleck as Batman or Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, don't be. Both pulled off their roles very well.
Theater applauded when Wonder Woman appeared. Nicely setup.
Lots of scenes ripped straight from the comics and even the videogames (great easter eggs I don't want to spoil).
Fight scenes were well done. Not the mess in Man of Steel.
Biggest flaw was the pacing of the first hour. Slow.
No end credit scenes. Feel free to leave when the credits roll.
Not kid friendly.
Overall 8/10

It isn't anything like the tried-and-tested Marvel formula, but it isn't, as I've read elsewhere, "completely devoid of all amusement". Don't get me wrong, the tone of the movie is certainly dour, and if you're a fan of that (like me) you'll probably enjoy the movie, but it's not as joyless as Man of Steel was at times, another movie I enjoyed greatly. This movie is a spectacle, it's grand and loud, and by the final action sequence I truly felt like these characters were closer to Gods than most other big name superheros; the scale, while not massive in actuality, seemed immense befitting the characters involved.
It's not without its issues, and the common complaint of off-pacing is something I agree with. It's obvious that there's so much to deal with here that some plot-lines get axed, to be restored in the Director's Cut, but almost to the detriment of the subsequent scenes, which seem to come from nowhere. These segments are few and far between, and they certainly didn't greatly impact my experience watching the movie, but they were noticeable.

Overall I feel like Snyder (who's not a director I can claim to have a great love for) did a pretty great job with fitting all the numerous pieces of this movie together into an action packed, enjoyable story with a solid cast, great visuals, and a reverence for the icons it sports. These are not the same Batman and Superman we've seen over the years, and I'm O.K. with that. Variety is the spice of life after all.

I think Marvel paid critics to say bad things about the movie. The movie is well written and well acted. I think this is the first DC movie which is close to comics as compared to previous ones. It was hard for the audience to really enjoy some of the action sequences especially the car chase. This movie hundred times better then Avengers. Good Job DC. Expand

People are saying about the pacing of the movie.
But like someone have said, the movie works like a comic book.
One scene jump to another, like a comic book where a panel jump to another.
Comics are disjunctive like this movie. And the aesthetic used by Snyder is like that found in cmoic books.
The scenes break abruptly, one jump to another, goes and come, like the panels in the comics
Zack Snyder made a comic movie

An improvement over Man of Steel, and that's from someone who loved Man of Steel. Superman felt like he leapt off a comic book. A lot more levity than its been given credit for. The set up for the Justice League could've been a little less heavy handed, but the movie was long enough as it was, so I let it go. CGI for Doomsday was awful when he was first introduced, but got better as the scenes wore on and the fight with the Trinity was AWESOME! Overall, some flaws, no doubt, but definitely worth the wait. I thought the action was solid.
I bought and understood all of the characters emotions.
I believed them based on the context of the world they built between this one and Man of Steel.
I also totally bought Ben Afleck as old man Batman, and Henry Cavill did a good job being conflicted about the end of his battle with Zod from the first film.

Together with the talented cast is the strong and fast-faced storyline which is left no place without the genuine fun of watching a rare superhero movie. Indeed, this is the movie in which you can fulfill all your fantasies about a face-to-face match between two iconic heroes. Clark Joseph Kent aka Superman gets the respect and understanding he deserved. Batman is the strongest point in this fanboy dream film. Undoubtedly, Ben Affleck may become the best Batman on screen for his portrayal of the Caped Crusader here, both physically and emotionally. There is no light-hearted stuff or family-friendly plotlines.. It is all about the starting point of the gathering of DC cinematic universe. There is enough tease for other Justice League members that will make your seat hot. There is a badass but attractive Wonder Woman that you can't help falling in love with. All the action are good, especially the epic war in the final act. It will wet all the fan boys, indeed. And there is an ending that would give you goosebumps and hope, if you stick to the end.
