Not by a long shot. Bit over stuffed and suffers because of it but nothing like ULTRON. Acting was good, the Batfleck was a good surprise, writing and direction was better than average Blockbusters. Much better than those stupid Fast And Furious movies.
And actually better than Iron man 3.

I was not entirely impressed with Man of Steel because of the fast action, difficult to see CGI. I came out of the movie impressed and wanting to go do some D.C. Universe research... Yes, I much enjoyed the movie.

That said I'll start with the cons: I did not appreciate the fighting sequences between a certain (superman villain) and superman towards the end. I also felt it was out of character for a seasoned batman (played by Affleck) to have been manipulated to have suspicion or hate for superman. Also, I felt that Eisenberg / Lex-L was a miscast.

Pros: Easily the best batman fighting sequences depicted in any movie. Better Batman fighting than in the Nolan films. The sound effects were thrilling to say the least. I also really appreciated the foreshadowing dream / vision that batman has and the way by which Batman / Wayne learns of other hero / vigilantes.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really hate critics who went into BvS expecting some sort of substantial plot. It's a freakin' DC movie. We already know the plot. We're there to see gods among men clashing to the death. No one gives a rat's arse about the story. We want to see Batman beating the crap out of Superman. We want to see Wonderwoman lunging at Doomsday with a freakin' sword. And that's exactly what we got. Critics are stupid. This movie was amazing. It was a thrilling and memorable experience. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just made an account to post this review... it will contain spoilers...

I saw BvS the first Thursday night it came out. In short, I felt the movie had faults. I wasn't sure why, but it turns out it's because I wasn't able to follow the minor details of the story. Is that a fault itself for a movie? Well, no. Multiple viewings should reward viewers, and BvS is no exception.

I just left the theater from my 2nd viewing. I waited roughly 3 weeks to watch it a second time. Unbelievable, considering I had been anticipating this movie for years.

Words cannot truly express how beautiful this movie is. They really can't. As I type this I am still swiping tears from my eyes. There are so many layers and visual cues to something beyond film, beyond a screen, beyond a projector. And I'm not just talking about 1 or 2 parts of the movie. Scene after scene was rich with visual metaphor, character arc, and most of all, heart. You can really tell everyone put their best efforts into this movie. I applaud every single person involved.

Just as of for instance - the scene when Superman gets nuked, amidst tons of chaos, non stop action, and climactic battle, there is a moment of elegance and grace that is absolutely unparalleled in movies today. I'm talking about the part when after Doomsday crashes back down to Earth, and lets out a jolt of energy, causing an explosion on the abandoned island, it cuts back to space showing the explosion happening on Earth, and Superman, in an envelope of complete silence, Snyder paints a picture of him inadvertently pointing directly at the explosion from space. It beautifully captures the entire plight of Superman in such a way I could not believe how expressive, creative, and majestic a shot could exist in film.

And this is just one instance. There are many more. I absolutely implore everyone to watch this movie multiple times, in an intimate setting. The first night I saw the movie it was in a packed theater, adrenaline was pumping, and expectations were through the roof. This is not that type of movie. Tonight, I walked in right as the movie started, to a completely empty theater. It was one of the greatest personal decisions I have ever made. I'm so happy the way the movie turned out.

The action, acting, soundtrack, costumes, set design, script, visual effects - all of it are top notch. We are watching masters of craft at work. Snyder brings it all together so well that I sat at the end as the credits rolled with my mouth open. Absolutely amazing Zack Snyder. I appreciate your work, your art, and most of all this movie. 10/10, an absolute masterpiece, nothing has come or will ever come close to the magnitude of greatness this movie achieves.

Plus, a delightfully mischievous Lex Luthor is the icing on the cake. The movie answers the question - what would happen if Superman came to our modern Earth. This is by no means a perfect Superman. He's still young, making mistakes and learning to be the hero he is destined to be. It's a journey that started in Man of Steel and will continue in future installments. Expand

It explores ideas and belief systems. Unfortunately nuances may be lost on an audience that is not accustomed to debate. In theology, something as simple as an Iota can make a world of difference. People act, react, and sometimes redirect the entire course of their lives based on simple nuances. Man of Steel had wonderful references to Plato’s Republic. This film also had instances requiring the audience to think from a foreign point of view. That is necessary for one to truly understand the significance of events. Some people may not like this film. There are those who want things to be exactly like they were in the comics, and that is understandable. There are those who want things to be more light hearted, that is also very understandable. The movie is not perfect, and there are some who just may not like it. I have a deep concern for those who cannot comprehend it though. The proletariat, who don’t even know how deeper thinking works, will miss out on some even deeper meanings that are in the film. This film caused me to laugh, cry, and think. The acting was wonderful. I have very few complaints. It is the best film I have seen in years. Expand

After my first viewing of it sure I was a little disappointed (and kinda depressed), but this movie takes a little time. After I saw it the second time a few weeks later I was like damn. This movie accomplished so much and is extremely deep on so many levels. After watching it for the second time I cleared up some plot holes that I left the theater with previously. Also this movie completely puts Marvel to shame as it is sooo much more than nice looking action and comedy relief. There is a point to it and brings up questions in the audience of religion, corrupt power, and how exactly do superheroes fit into our world. Expand

I never thought I'd say this about a mere comic-book adaptation. I already loved it when it hit theaters in March, always defended it and Mr. Snyder. Ultimate Cut only justified (pun intended) my actions. I'll not go into details as why I loved it, talk about pros and cons - everything had been said already countless times before me.

I would like to say "Thank you" to the entire crew that was responsible for realising this flick and forwad my sincere and honest admiration of Mr. Zack Snyder's work to him. This is the director that knows his comics, loves them and does his absolute best to transform them onto a silver screen. I am 150 % on board with Justice League and all future DCEU entries. I just hope that JL will be receieved warmly and that it will end the absurd amount of bashing on Zack Snyder.

Lastly, I hope that he will remain the man in charge of the DCEU till the very end.

I went into this movie with the lowest of expectations after the onslaught of negative reviews nearly killing my excitement and by the end of the movie I was in awe. I loved it and my entire audience clapped through out. I am not saying it was a perfect "film". There were pacing issues at times, but all the acting, especially Affleck and Eisenberg was excellent. It may have been dark, but it was definitely fun, emotional and crowd pleasing. If you are a fan it was a dream come true at times. I am not going to turn this into a Marvel/DC thing as I think that is both childish and stupid, but I really think Marvel's success has warped some people's and critics perception of what you can do with comic movies. Marvel does a great job at what they do, but this dared to be different, serious and more adult and it should be applauded for that and not ridiculed. I see this sitting at 31% and it is absurd. I can name 20 comic movies with higher ratings that aren't even close to this movie in quality. My advice to anyone that is a fan of these characters it to ignore the critics completely and just enjoy it. It is a great movie and everyone I saw it with loved it. Expand

Zack Snyder's 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' introduces yet again, another chapter in the DC Cinematic Universe. We get a glimpse of Bruce Wayne's (Ben Affleck) backstory, which has been told many times before. If you have seen any other "Batman" installments, including the widely acclaimed 'Batman Begins' (2005), then you know the story anyway. We see Bruce during the events of when Superman (Henry Cavill) and General Zod (Michael Shannon) caused huge destruction in Metropolis which we saw in 'Man of Steel' (2013). The Wayne Enterprises building goes down leaving many of his employees either dead, or heavily injured.

This is pretty much a good reason for the two juggernauts to fight, this is also a very political movie. Amy Adams returns as Lois Lane, Superman's love interest, and she feels concerned. My issue with her character in this movie is that she did not need to be there. Lois Lane is nothing more than just a plot device and keeps the movie short, which isn't saying much given how this movie is roughly 2 and a half hours long. You can actually feel the run time which is not a good thing.

We see Affleck's Batman and his Bat Cave, along with his witty butler Alfred (Jeremy Irons), who mainly guides and helps Bruce throughout his journey.

We also meet Lex Luthor (a miscast Jesse Eisenberg), who plans on taking one of the Kryptonian species and making something deadly which I will not spoil. Gal Gadot plays Wonder Woman, as many of you will expect, and she does not make that much of an appearance until some time in the very end of this movie. She is also another plot device, and build up to another movie, if you can guess what that movie is supposed to be, you are not wrong.

What this movie lacked was focus, the editing was choppy and the story was all over the place. It tries to jump back and forth between Batman and Superman's point of view, but the movie does not know where to stop one person's point of view, and begin the other. It just cuts to what Batman is doing, and then it cuts to whatever Superman is doing. The entire first two acts of the movie is build up to Batman and Superman battling it out, while the last act of the movie mainly uses itself to build up a certain Justice League movie. The way that was done felt extremely shoehorned, and almost strange as it felt like a different movie.

So, what was the fight between Batman and Superman like? It was...okay! That sentence alone can scream disappointment among many fans. Without spoiling too much, the fight between the two only takes up a mere 10% of this 2 and a half hour film. The fight itself, while neatly choreographed, mainly involves one character staring down at the other, picking them up slowly, and hurling them against a wall. Then they repeat this until something happens which stops the fight, and to make things worse, I actually rolled my eyes. That is not what you want when you are watching one of the biggest movie events of the year.

On a more positive note, Ben Affleck is actually very superior as Batman, he has the right build, his voice sounded intimidating, and overall, I think he did a good job in the role given the massive backlash Affleck received when it was announced that he would be taking on such a role.

But Jesse Eisenberg was never going to convince me as Lex Luthor, he has this annoying twitch, he talks too fast, he tries to look and seem eccentric, but it came off as annoying and childish.

The entire movie is nothing but trailer shots, and the tone of this movie was incredibly gloomy, and almost not filled with any joy whatsoever. The pacing is very uneven, the first two acts which tries to build up the epic fight is sometimes fast and sometimes slow. The fight itself dragged from time to time, and the movie takes a long time to end, you will sit there thinking "Okay, now it will end!", "No, wait, it'll end here", "Come on, you faded to black, it should end!".

Overall, 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is a crushing disappointment, an unfocused mess that looks so beautiful, and the music by Hans Zimmer, is so poetic, it hurts to see that this movie is a mess. I just wish that maybe Zack Snyder would put story before visuals, instead of visuals before story. At the very beginning, you get close-up shots, and constant slow motion, from that moment on, you know where the movie is going.

What do you expect from a superhero movie? It's not rocket science, you should definitely see some ridiculous stuff; but that doesn't mean the movie was bad. Action scenes especially, i liked it. We can divide this movie into two parts; first they portrayed the real world's hunger for a godlike superhero and in the second part which was an action salad, they fed the audience. Those parts completed each other. Yes, I saw some idiotic scenes too, but I'm telling again. This movie isn't bad in my opinion. Affleck proved himself as Batman. Can't wait to see the next movie!! There were a couple parts that were confusing to those I was with but after I explained my interpretation they were ready to grab a ticket and see it again. The critics prove just how out of touch they are with the bulk of movie goers. Don't make the mistake of believing this negativity, get out to the theater. I was really on the fence about the recasting of Batman, it is really hard to beat the Dark Knight trilogy. That said Affleck is great as Wayne and I love the edge he brings to Batman. I am a Superman fan through and through but I sat back thinking Batman is in beastmode! Much as also been said about Superman's lack of personality and I just don't see it. I like that he is stoic and serious about his role to the planet and the battle that ensues of being the "boyscout" vs bringing justice, Cavill is the perfect Superman in my opinion. Wonder Woman is great and I left the movie excited at seeing some stand alone endeavors.

Final comment - there is a lot of hidden gems in this movie that you might miss or may not make sense if you aren't an avid fan of the comic books. They dug deep in the story and this movie sets up Justice League about as good as we could hope for. I will see BvS again and I am pumped for Justice League!

The movie was thoroughly enjoyable and did not feel too long. Not once did I glance at my watch. As for acting performances, I thought Affleck did a really good job with Batman. Definitely a far more physical and grittier version than Bale's. The one quibble I have was that the "Doomsday" character felt like cheesy CGI and is the type of battle we've seen before. Thought Snyder used this movie well to set up a future DC "Universe". My two friends both had the same immediate reaction as I did, namely why did the critics hate this move that badly? We thought it was going to be "Cawoman" horrible and it was far from it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, due to a lot of bad critics I thought the movie would be really bad.

Since the trailers started to come out I had a bad feeling, because I wanted to be all about Batman vs Superman, but they started to show Wonder Woman, Doomsday, Aquaman. So I was thinking, they're trying to fit a lot of stuff into the film, we just know Superman, in the film we'll have to know batman wonderwaman, and so on, I can almost bet that the movie will be first half introducing characters, then 3 minutes of fighting between Batman and Superman, and then they'll fight doomsday. It'll be a mess, I just wanted them to focus on Batman vs Superman, that's it.

Then I went and see it, expecting it to be really bad... And, honestly?, I did like it, I mean it's no Avangers film, but in the case of marvel's avangers they've got the advantage that I was talking about, we already know the characters because of their individual films. If DC had follow this same path I bet it would be better, I mean, introducing at least Batman in his own movie, and THEN, have Batman vs Superman. Moving back to the movie, the problem I had with it is, that it had some boring parts, when they started to talk boy, it was hard to focus or follow, but, when the movie got good, it REALLY got good, the action scenes and the special effects were incredible, specially on the fight between Batman and Superman we have some memorable dialogues.

Lastly, this is a personal preference, but I'm more a Batman fan, I wish he had done something on the final fight with Doomsday, I mean, we get that he doesn't have super powers, but come on, leaving it aside like that?, he could have helped too, be creative, like, he throws that kryptonite smoke bomb at doomsday and, that will get him weak for a short time, in that time he could have helped, or I don't know, helping the other distracting it, there are a lot of ways, but they choose to let him hide behind a rock...

Henry Cavil once again brings a humble, emotional Superman to the screen, pretty much identical to Man of Steel.

The average viewer will love this movie. At the theater I went to people applauded and all together loved this movie. There are certainly instances comic fans and movie buffs will be disappointed. Oddly enough the major let down is that such a good movie exists underneath all the rubble of bad editing.

In the end most fans only need to know one thing. This is a fairly decent launch pad for the DC Universe. Lot's of lessons to learn, but all in all a good movie I'd highly recommend seeing. My final hope is the Warner Brothers focuses more on Wonder Woman and Batman solo movies for the time being and wait for any universe expansions.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have been given the honor of writing our very first review here at Nerds with Mics. What is surely to be one of the biggest movies of 2016 and a firm staple in the world of nerd culture, I went to see Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Before seeing the movie I decided to read some reviews online like I always do, and I noticed there was a very common theme: most of them were negative reviews. Regardless, I always go into a movie with no expectations and make a judgement on my own. The movie starts off by reminding us how Bruce Wayne’s parents were killed and then finding a boy falling into a well where he finds his love for bats. At first I thought to myself how stupid is this, because we all know how Bruce Wayne becomes Batman and what drives him to fight crime. The reason for this is made clear with the scene that follows, because it then shows why Batman grows to hate Superman because of the events that took place in Metropolis during the last movie, Man of Steel. The way the two stories were tied together worked really well (Wayne Enterprising being destroyed, killing hundreds of people during the fight between Superman and General Zod).

After they caught everyone up on what Batman and Superman have been doing for the last 2 years, I was ready for the action to get underway. There were simply no surprises for me in this movie at all. The story during the middle just seemed to be all over the place and jumping in many directions. Jessie Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor seems to be played differently than in previous movies. At first I hated, hated, HATED the way this character was being portrayed but by the end of the movie, I felt like he had grown on me (after his last scene in the movie). Superman is fun to watch and Henry Cavill does an excellent job with this role once again. The one performance I was most impressed by and unexpectedly so, was Ben Affleck’s Batman. I feel that for the first time I’ve seen a character that is Bruce Wayne and Batman. In past Batman movies going all the way back to Michael Keaton, I’ve always thought whoever played Batman was either a really good Bruce Wayne or a really good Batman, but never both. Ben Affleck in my opinion is one of the best parts about this movie and it makes me want a standalone Batman movie starring Ben Affleck.

When I think about this movie, in a lot of ways in reminds me of what happened with Spider-Man 3. The movie features too many characters, similar to Spider-Man 3 (Superman, Batman, Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman, Lois Lane, Doomsday). With so many characters to focus on, the story loses a sense of purpose. With a weak script but a strong performance from two main stars, it left me with mixed feelings about the movie as a whole. The fight scene between Batman and Superman for me was the highlight of the movie and the downside was the Doomsday fight. I honestly feel like that movie would have been 10 times better to leave out Wonder Woman and Doomsday and just focused solo on Batman and Superman. If they wanted to have Doomsday in it then they should have lead up to the end with him and saved him for the next film. I would say Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is good but not great. Makes me wonder how much different this movie could have been if Christopher Nolan would have been heavily involved. In a world with Marvel is constantly raising the bar with superhero movies, DC has to find a way to come up with strong scripts and better storytelling for their strongest comic book characters. Oh, and a huge bummer to announce: there is no after credits scenes so don’t waste your time.

I felt like the plot was set up very well and all the characters actions and motivations were justified. The acting in BVS were amazing, the bes ones were Ben Affleck and Jessie Eisenberg in my opinion. Henry Cavill is a good superman, but Affleck is the best batman to ever be on the silver screen. We did not get much Wonder Woman so I'm a little bit mixed on her, but the audience went nuts when she showed up. The action scenes may be the best I've ever seen in a movie. Based on my experience watching this movie I would give it a ten, but if I look on the quality of the movie the score is 8.
There are problems in this film. As a person who knows a little bit about Dc I got most of the references, but to person who knows nothing it may get a little bit confusing. Sometimes the editing was a little bit weird too.
I would say you should watch this movie multiple times in the theaters.

Fans will leave hardly disappointed to see their favorite heroes fighting and reconciling to face a common enemy, and are constantly presented with a multitude of references that have long. Snyder respect the material and built a relevant work that can change the game market these films. He certainly can not win you the first visit, but with a second chance, is able to let you in love with the work. It happened to me, something I thought impossible to believe. Expand

Firstly, everyone should ignore all critic reviews, or reviews of any kind, watch the film and form your own opinion. You're opinion is the only thing that is relevant.

That being said, I feel that this film is getting a lot of unwarranted criticism. It's not the action romp that is most of the Marvel films. Which are all good in their own right. But DC has always been different from Marvel. Films are no different. DC, to me, has been more cryptic and character driven. This theme seems to resonate in BvS, and it works. It's the main story with an almost episodic feel with an over arching plot (setting up justice league). The reviews seem as if they're trying to directly compare it to what Marvel is doing. Which does not work as it is completely different.

My opinion? Different is great! It's a much more artistic take on a genre that some would call an over saturated market. This sentiment comes from a lot of the reviews I have read as well. With that comes the hate for Snyder either... He makes Comic Book Movies and he's great. His style is as close to a film version of reading a comic as you can get. Which is evident from all of his other projects as well.

This however is an opinion piece like all other reviews. You may like Snyder, or you may not. You might love this film, or hate it. Majority of critics all seem to hate it, but that majority of fan reviews so far seem to love it. This fan loves it.

ACTUAL rating 8. The 10 is to try and balance out the undeserved zeros.
I found the overall plot and the fight scenes enjoyable, Ben Affleck really came through in his role and carried the movie as Batman, he plays the older angry batman perfectly. The only problem for me was a didn't like Eisenbergs Lex Luthor, and doomsday was a bit of e let down, it wasn't necessarily bad I just felt like it was one of the only parts in the movie that didn't stay true to the comics. While it felt like a lot was packed into this movie, it only slightly took away from the overall effect, and if your a fan of comic book movies don't let the reviews scare you away there's a high chance you'll like it.

I can understand why some critics didn't like it, most didn't understand why certain things were happening because the movie didn't waste time with exposition (a really good example probably being Doomsday and how he works). Some probably wouldn't even enjoy the comics this pulls from, and that is fine. I think it is also very obvious that some of the elements used for the dream sequences some have complained about are going to actually be event plot points in future movies to tie them closely together, in the same way comic books do.

So sure, as a film for someone that doesn't care about the comics or just doesn't know them well, they could hate watching the movie and be left very confused. That's fine. The studio let Synder make a movie for the fans of the comics, which is what he has been saying he wanted to do all along.

It certainly wasn't made in the Hollywood style so many critics seem to be asking for with all the cheap jokes and a tightly packaged happy ending for everyone involved. This isn't the 1978 Superman, and it certainly isn't the 1966 Batman. I understood what I was watching and enjoyed it a lot. It is a modern comic book as film, not a film reflecting a comic book franchise's characters.

I've read reviews that say there is no clear explanation as to why Batman doesn't trust Superman, believe me, it is absolutely clear once you see what Bruce Wayne witnesses from his perspective. There are also other factors that push him over the edge but I will not spoil anything. Speaking of Batman, Ben Affleck portrays a Batman like none we have ever seen, you hear in the trailers that he has spent 20+ years in Gotham and you see what 20 years does to the Batman. This has to be my favorite interpretation of Batman. As far as some critics saying Wonder Woman comes to save the day because the men cant handle it, she's definitely bad ass, but from what I saw she shows up as their equal. She obviously knows her stuff after having a century or more of military and combat training. Watching the three of them, I felt like I was watching a comic come to life, all three have their strengths and complemented each other well. I really feel this movie is not getting the credit it deserves, yes some parts seemed to jump around, but if you paid attention and know anything about the DC universe it will all make sense. Even my friend who went with me and knows nothing of DC comics, really enjoyed this movie, and he expected it to be awful. Yes I had to explain to him some of DC comic history after we left the theater, and once I did, he completely understood. All in all, if you're a fan of the DC universe, definitely give this movie a chance and ignore the negative reviews you're seeing. If you don't like it, that's fine, give it your own Meta score, like I said I read some reviews from these critics and didn't expect to like this movie. Half way through I thought to myself these critics have it all wrong. I'm really glad I went to see this movie and I will definitely be seeing it again. Expand

This is a well made movie, finding its roots from various story arcs from the world of comics. It is a mindblowing treat for comic and gaming fans. For DC fans, it is a clear 10/10. Even for the casual super hero flick fan, it is atleast an 8 or a 9/10. BvS is a great build up to the Justice League. Ben Affleck's grim portrayal of Batman is topclass. The motivation behind the battle is well thought out. The gladiator match is truly epic. The teasers & Easter eggs are quite intelligently infused. There are certain scenes/dream sequences that will make you ponder about what lies ahead once you step out of the theatre. I am a Nolan Dark Knight trilogy fan and I feel Zack Snyder's magnum opus is worth experiencing. Both come from a different school of thought. Both are commendable in the scale they have reached. It is not about either or.

I would give it a solid 8.5 for fans of the comics, and probably a 7.5 to the average viewer who may not catch or understand all the nods to the source material. The amount of hate that this movie has received is infuriating to me, because it is turning into another Watchmen, which remains my favorite superhero movie of all time. BVS, like Watchmen, will likely be considered to be a misunderstood masterpiece, a film that expects the audience to think, feel, and be willing to understand a complex and nuanced narrative, with well-executed philosophical underpinnings and symbolism. The movie is one of the most accurate comic book movies out there, and the way it is shot and delivered makes you feel as if an amazing graphic novel is being translated to film. For some, this may feel jumpy and disorienting, but if you have ever read a comic, you can clearly see how the style of shooting and transitions is so true to the look and feel of actual comics, which is an achievement; we should respect the talent of the amazing Zack Snyder. This is something that the Marvel movies have failed to achieve, and are not interested in doing, which is fine. Another big problem is that people are comparing the movie to Marvel films, and that is not what this movie is. Marvel films are action comedies, which almost completely lack any sense of gravitas or weight, but are very fun and entertaining, with just enough nods to the source material and great casting to make fans happy. However, BVS is not like those films, it is serious, it demands that you think, and it does not coddle you. It is like Watchmen in this way, but, unfortunately, critics and many supposed "fans" are still not ready for truly serious and meaningful superhero films, and prefer the easily accessible (and very predictable) Saturday Morning cartoon style of films that Marvel presents (as in the studio and not including the Fox films). Why can we not just enjoy both? Because, apparently, the cool thing to do is bash anything not Marvel and nitpick it to death, when you could actually just work out all of your supposed plotholes if you bothered to pay attention to the film. The casting was spot on, and Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and Jeremy Irons put on amazing performances as their respective characters, with returning stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and others continuing to put on stellar performances. Jesse Eisenburg's performance will divide many, but as a fan of the graphic novel, Superman: Red Son, I really enjoyed his character and thought that he did an excellent job. Ben Affleck is the absolute best live-action Batman we've seen, and Henry Cavill continues to perform admirably as Superman. For those who are not patient, and don't appreciate meaningful dialogue and a lack of one-liners, the first hour of the movie may bore you, because we actually get a good amount of character development and story that leads into the explosive latter half of the movie. Now, the movie is not perfect, and there are certainly parts of the film that leave some questions unanswered, but, we all should have known going in that this is a prologue movie, so there should be things for us to discover in the next movie. One part of the film that was maybe a little out of place was the apocalyptic dream-sequence, which only fans of the comics will truly understand and appreciate. The scene is not bad, but it's placement and delivery may be strange for some. So the film does have some issues, but, overall, it is a masterfully shot, well-acted, and well-thought out film, that respects a viewers intelligence and ability to comprehend complex themes. On another note, the final 45 minutes of the movie is absolutely amazing, and the interweaving plots develop naturally and flow well. Seeing the Trinity in action is an amazing sight, and will make DC fans giddy with delight. Also, and I won't spoil it, the final 20 minutes or so of the film had me on the verge of tears and the finale was truly amazing, but certainly not a "happy" ending. No Marvel film has been able to get me even close to feeling particularly sad about a character or event, which again shows how much more emotional weight DC is willing to invest in their films. Anyway, I've gone on long enough, but I urge people to see the film for themselves and to be open to a different kind of superhero film. The critics are being exceedingly harsh and the fanboys who want to hate on the film are out in droves, but to those who can ignore the hate, they will find an incredible film that truly is the Dawn of Justice. I really enjoyed this movie and I didn't expect to. I have an extreme dislike of Ben Affleck, but I have to grudgingly admit that his take on Batman was great. The movie was slow in the beginning, but by the end you almost have to catch your breath.

This is by no means a perfect movie. It has serious flaws that I'm sure have been written about by critics ad nauseum, and this is where I take issue with critics. This was a fun movie that was an absolute pleasure to watch on the big screen. If you had taken Zach Snyder's name off this movie and put JJ Abrams on it, then I'm willing to bet the critic score for this movie would be 30 points higher on average. Some directors critics just seem to have it in for. This movie was extremely flawed but fun to watch, yet it gets burned by critics. JJ Abrams makes a fun but EXTREMELY flawed movie in Force Awakens, and critics swoon because it's JJ Abrams.

If you're on the fence about this movie because of the critics, don't be. Go see this movie and enjoy it for the fun visual spectacle that it is. You won't regret it.

As usual the user review's score is more right than the idiotic so called "professional" critic's...
Besides some questionable writing and decisions... BvS is overall a good film, enjoyable yet flawed, certainly not a 4! A 6 or 7 would be about right. For all it's faults it has a lot of amazing scenes in there that helps you to forgive. If you liked Man of Steel then you will like BvS, it's as simple as that. Though not as good as MoS, you will still like it. Especially when it all comes together at near the end.
My problem with BvS is that there are a lot of situations that aren't written with enough depth and detail making you unable to comprehend how certain characters arrive to their being. That and it feels like they are going to release a director's cut due to how things were hurriedly put together.
But like I said earlier, it's entertaining and if you switch your brain off it's a 7. If you want to nit pick it could be a 5... But hey, I'd rather have a good time.

Wonder Woman was a welcomed addition but her introduction was far from good, Although she was great in the final fight of the film.

Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor was sort of a hit and miss for me. He's a very dialogue driven character but most of his dialogue seemed to be filled with verbal ticks and mutters of a mad man rather than a cold and calculated business man. I think they'd have been better off with an older, more mature Lex than a young man.

Speaking of the fight between Batman vs Superman, It was short but sweet. It totally lived up but I expected a bit more back and forth and didn't like that it was so one sided from start to finish. The fight with Doomsday used way too much CGI and seemed like a cluster-f**k of color on screen. Batman, naturally, just sat that one out as Wonder Woman got her chance to shine and use her array of weapons on Doomsday. It was sort of eh for a finale of such a good movie.

Overall, Affleck owned the role of Batman and that alone makes this movie worth seeing. He had so many great action scenes and one liners. The fight between him and Superman was exactly how we wanted it to be. It's a very well done film. Can't wait to buy the director's cut and see all the goodies we missed out on in the theatrical cut.

If you take out the subplot of Batman vs. Superman you end up with a better movie focused around Justice League and Lex Luthor. Instead you get multiple meandering and confusing, without being intelligent, subplots. Motivations of Batman and Superman did not make sense. Overall a less than average movie and a poor start a Justice League I want to enjoy. Expand

Listening to the critics you would be convinced that this movie is a train wreck, and that is far from the reality. All of the criticisms are accurate, but all of the issues raised are very minor next to all of the great aspects of the film. The editing is weak, the scenes don't always flow logically from one to another, and I could have used a couple extra scenes setting up Wonder Woman's history (we've all seen Batman's origin a dozen times by now), but the action, story, and acting more than make up for the procedural errors. First of all, it's one of the rare time that I see a movie like this where the heroes actually have another goal that just kicking the bad guy's ass and going out with the girl at the end. The plot takes its time to set up and that's great too, you don't have a two hours long movie with just battles, and god, that's refreshing.

I wasn't convinced by Affleck at first, but now, I have to admit that he is a great Batman and a great Bruce Wayne, quite different from Bale, but great nonetheless. Cavill didn't change since Men of Steel.

I honestly don't understand why it's catching so much flak. Sure, there was a lot going on, but it wasn't hard to understand what was happening throughout the movie nor was it hard keep up with, it was just a lot. BvS was one big set up for many of DCs future upcoming films and I never found it to be a distraction or ruined the pace imo. I was aware of what was going on from beginning to end and I loved every minute of it. Superman was good. Lex was a master manipulator. Wonder Woman was as bad ass as advertised. Batman was fantastic and the action and battle scenes were pretty damn epic imo. Speaking of Batman, I own and love the trilogy and have watched them several times. That being said, I think that this version of Batman is by far the best iteration of the Batman character yet and also closer represents the comic and animated movie versions imo, and that's a great thing. Don't go into BvS expecting Marvel fluff with cute, quip-py, chuckle-hut one liners. DC is taking things a little more seriously, but in a fun and entertaining way.

Don't trust these so called "critics". These are the same critics that said "The Witch" was the scariest horror movie of the year..... it absolutely was not and those **** owe me money for that piece of crap. No, go see the movie for yourself and judge for yourself. I'm glad I didn't listen to all those idiot critics. BvS was a good movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I could write a extensive review addressing some of the very asinine reasons people hate this film, instead I will sum up most of my review with the following statement: the reason why BvS has been so negatively received is because everyone, critics included, was expecting a Marvel film with DC characters.

This film isn't easily digestible, it uses subtlety to tell parts of its story (where all the 'poor editing' complaints come from), it's layered with symbolism and poses philosophical questions to the viewer, and it's tone is serious like a film of this nature SHOULD be. People say that this film is 'boring' and 'joyless' because there is a lot of dialogue. Unlike Marvel that treats its films and heroes as spectacles and cartoons, where all the death and destruction is easily glossed over or drowned out by an almost campy, inappropriate tone this movie takes itself very seriously like it's SUPPOSED to.

Should there be a lot of jokes in a movie about a super-powered alien who's come to Earth, greeted by a cynical and suspicious human population that seems to be both in awe and fear of him, while the world contemplates the limits of his power and the good-nature of his intentions. Where a troubled and disillusioned Bruce Wayne, having succumbed to the world's cynicism, becomes fixated on the task of killing Superman, who he hardly considered human.

This Batman's idealism had been long snuffed out. His mansion's a wreck, he drinks a lot, he brands and kills criminals, Robin is dead, Barbara is in a wheelchair, Gotham is still a crap-hole after twenty plus years of beating up criminals. Do you think this Batman is going to just sit down and accept that this alien is going to stay good forever. Batman as a character is incredibly paranoid. And as for his no-kill rule, do you really think after all that's happened he'd still so strictly abide by that moral standard? If you think about it, just how realistic is it to begin with? He has no qualm killing criminals, he'll have even less of issue killing someone he doesn't even consider human.

Even the opening scene where the bats lift him up into the light is an allegory for Bruce's journey as Batman. The Bats and the persona of the Batman save him from the despair ushered from his parent's death by giving him a purpose and hope that he can change Gotham, but ultimately leads him nowhere. That's why he refers to it as a 'false light' and 'beautiful lie' if you pay attention to the opening dialogue.

The biggest theme and question of the movie is "Are men still good? Can they stay good in a world full of evil and cynicism?" Batman after his long career now brutalizes/kills criminals. When Superman is faced with an ultimatum, he states that "no one stays good in this world". Will the world also push him to the brink and make a monster out of him, like when Lex forces him to fight Batman or his mother will die. The film does heavily foreshadow a possible Injustice story-line.

Is the film perfect? No. There are plot holes, but not as many as other 'successful' films. They just appear more evident because of the serious tone. Doomsday's introductions was too rushed, the scene where Superman tells Batman to save Martha could've been stretched out a bit more for a movie that's almost three hours long (it was a profound moment regardless), and Lois Lane's romance with Clarke feels very forced, and unnatural. Also this movie doesn't stand on its own and plays out as if the viewer is already familiar with the DC universe and its heroes. The dream sequence and flash cameo flew over critics and casuals' heads because of this. Where Marvel makes a bigger effort to reel in new fans, this film instead decided to pander to the existing DC fanbase.

Really, despite being marketed to Mars and back, the movie can really only be appreciated by a small group of people. Kids won't be able to appreciate this film and most adults won't really be expecting a superhero film to be as mature and deep as this (yes, I believe this movie has depth). Even DC purists will be turned off by Snyder's imperfect, flawed and humanized versions of Batman and Superman that could exist in the real world. Going back to the expectations people had towards this movie, they are the biggest factor in this movie's critical down fall. If you go to buy a cheeseburger and are expecting a cheeseburger, but get a chicken sandwich or something you will be pissed. Hence this movie's undeserved poor ratings.

Because of all this great stuff, this first half is mostly gripping and tense, where time is also taken to set up yet another great character - this time in the form of Ben Affleck's awesome Bruce Wayne/Batman.
One other thing that can certainly be said for 'Batman v Superman' is that it's got style too, as Snyder delivers one of the most well scored, beautifully shot and epic blockbusters in a long time. He also manages to peg a great tone thanks to a visual, gritty and unique style with plenty of jump-scares and horror influences.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: This set-up plants lots of seeds really quite well (even if it takes a little long to do so,) but then unfortunately the plot turns in a new and uninteresting direction. As a result, the central BvS fight is badly orchestrated and unbearably minimal, and then it's followed by an hour of stuff that entirely disconnects and disengages.
Oh, and what happened with Superman? This is not the great character you set up so well before, Zack.
VERDICT: Sadly, overall, whilst the film builds up nicely, when you finally get there it's extremely disengaging and dull. I came away craving some emotional engagement; just anything that might make me feel something.

But frankly, I feel it is the critics just being too critical. This movie was pretty great. It wasn't perfect, but it was a good deal better than most people are saying. I think it held pretty strongly to the comics except for a few points. The Final battle in the movie when Wonder Woman showed up was... weird. It changed the tone that was already established and that didn't exactly fit well. Other than that it was pretty much spot on to the characters other that the deaths batman caused. The characters were great, Ben Affleck was phenomenal as Batman, Gal Godot was great as well. Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor was a bit weird, but at the base level he captured what Lex Luthor is on a better level than most actors that have played him. Henry Cavill did great as well, a good deal better than Superman in Man of Steel. Overall the movie is very worth seeing, the only true issues I had were mainly with technical stuff happening during it and the music was a bit overdone. 8.5/10 Expand

Let me preface this by saying I'm a comic book and Superman fan.

This was a good and entertaining movie. I had no trouble following it like some have been claiming. My only complaint is too much was crammed into it. It's a comic book film that takes itself seriously (I like that) and doesn't bombard the audience with one liners and corniness every three minutes. A few of the scenes in this movie were very dark, and I liked that. I believe Superman was given excellent treatment for those of you worrying.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Re-watched BvS earlier and I still don't understand all the hate. The criticisms I had after the first watch soon felt petty. Flaws were present, sure, but the aesthetics and just the keen sense of realism it exuded made me doubt the critics/reviews I read after more - especially the ones making a huge fuss about its flaws like it's the worst they've seen. First and foremost, it's not bad. At all. The cinematography was beautiful - it felt like I was flipping pages from a graphic novel.
Superman, however "depressing" he seemed to others, gave me the impression of growth and vast introspection. I was blind to his character growth because I was too busy thinking he's supposed to just do the right thing and be Superman and not think. But he wasn't just Superman. Behind the cape, he was still battling a sense of responsibility and self-entitlement he owed to nobody, constantly weighing himself on flat ground.
Ben Affleck absolutely killed it as both Batman and Bruce. Still, Batman didn't make all the right decisions and that's his biggest imperfection - that he's still a mortal, a human - flawed, even after being in the business for 20 years. Ultimately imo, that gave more room for the future films to further elaborate what this character could be. The dream sequences/visions made more sense too. I thought they were unnecessary at first but it showed a disturbed Bruce Wayne. Bruce was never a mentally healthy person, adding that to his age and it made sense to me why he acted in ways he did. He's more experienced and he doesn't go dilly dallying.
Lex Luthor also made more sense. His motives have been, for the most part, underlying. He's conniving, manipulative and pure evil. He dropped hints here and there, revealed his nature, his intentions, but I think it flew over my brain during the first screening. He's a really twisted Lex. I believe Eisenberg's performance was not lacklustre in any range. If anything, he pulls it off. Just differently. His character has a lot of potential, again, imo, to show different sides. He could be brooding, he could be sinister, insane, borderline Joker or all at once. Or everything he's shown up till now could all be pretense and part of a coping mechanism to suppress his madness.
Irons as Alfred was great casting!
Gal Gadot was a Goddess as Wonder Woman. She was just badass. Graceful, intelligent, beautiful. She had a reason for being in the film btw for all you saying she was pointless.

(Spoiler: LexCorp, Metahuman experiments. That was her reason.)

The 3rd act definitely could've used less CGI, but hey, in its defense, it was Doomsday.

The film has great depth. It mirrors more of ourselves and how we see things. Though it felt like cut scenes jumping from one another, the end tied it up together. It wasn't as incoherent as everyone is making it out to be. (At least for me.) It actually made sense in the end. It gradually tied up to the plot, played with a lot of symbols, used factors that seemed out of place but later connected little pieces. The editing was haphazard, but it's really just.. different than usual. It's divisive. It's like laying out various planks before placing each in correct positions to form a proper floor structure. Others may like it, others who don't like unfamiliar/odd would probably be annoyed with it. The movie had issues, many of which are obvious and piques the interests of negative press, but it was a great watch and imo succeeded in launching a platform for the DCEU. I was thoroughly entertained and kept on the edge of my seat.

Ben Affleck's Batman is spectacular. Finally we get the fight scenes and the acrobatics Batman is known for in Frank Miller's comics. Gal Gadot was equally spectacular as Wonder Woman. And Henry Caville is Superman. Period.
Lex Luthor was the only poor casting choice in my opinion. Came off as a college nerd douche bag, instead of an evil mastermind.

It was dark and took itself serious, which may be a departure from many of the comic movies, particularly Marvel, which always have a running joke to lighten the mood. Antman scored an 80% in Rotten Tomatoes, which means Batman v Superman should have scored better.

The Batman fight scenes were very good and Ben Affleck performed well as a mature Caped Crusader. I'm still stumped at what version of Lex Luthor did Jesse Eisenberg play, clearly he was mixed up between the Joker and Pee Wee Herman, but he certainly never portrayed the confident and cunning business man that Lex Luthor has always been. He played a confused, crazy and not the least bit scary version.

It had several really great scenes, among the best in comic movie history. Overall I get that critics don't understand the dark, serious comic world, but anyone who has read Dark Knight Returns, The Watchmen, Killing Joke, etc knows that these are dark comics with big themes and the movie certainly brought them to the big screen. It got a little Michael Bay in the final fight scene, which kind of spoiled it a bit, but still a good, if not somewhat flawed installment of the DC universe.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman is a film worth seeing. But beautiful action and choreography sadly do not cover up a very week story with more holes than a sieve.
What Batman v Superman does well it excels at, the action is amazing, with scenes from Ben Affleck being a highlight, but sadly that does not make up for a story that was going no where, which is a shame as this film has so much potential.
For example, the whole film was geared up to be a massive showdown between two titans of the superhero world, and yet the fight only lasted seven minutes, and was resolved in a very cheap manner.
But, as mentioned before the movie does have its bright points. Ben Affleck as Batman was a particular highlight. He may not have been the strongest Bruce Wayne, but he was by far and between a stellar Batman. He was cruel, calculated and efficient as Batman in every sense of the word.
The soundtrack for this film was amazing. Despite the fact that not every scene was strong, there was no denying that every scene was well supported by an amazing accompaniment.
This movie is far from perfect. but what it does well, it does very well.

It is a dark and very good film, unlike the Justice League, this film has a real action and intense moments. Ben Affleck was an excellent Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, it was sensational.

(THE FOLLOWING REVIEW IS FOR THE ULTIMATE EDITION, WHICH IS FAR SUPERIOR TO THE THEATRICAL CUT AND EXPANDS ON CERTAIN PLOT POINTS MORE FULLY.)

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition is most certainly not the bloated, stupid mess that it is often reviled as being. It's a dark, visually stunning, surprisingly smart epic that certainly isn't built for mainstream audiences.

Zack Snyder is a very under-appreciated director. Say what you will about his choice of bleak colors and themes, the man has talent. Batman v. Superman is a gorgeous-looking film. Every shot looks like there was a plethora of thought and care put into it to ensure that its purpose was served. Everything captured on screen has a deepness of color and texture that is seldom acknowledged by today's moviegoers. The visual effects--with the exception of a couple of brief moments--are seamless and blend naturally with everything caught naturally on camera. My mouth gaped with awe at every frame and I never wanted to take my eyes off of the screen.

Hans Zimmer's score here is absolutely brilliant. It flows so naturally, adding tension to tense scenes and adding heart to moving scenes. I can't say enough good things about it.

As for the far more important matters of story, writing, and character development, none of these fall flat either. There certainly are a lot of characters in Batman v. Superman, and that can be a glaring weakness for a film as development gets scattered and lost. But this movie knows which characters to focus on and which ones not to. The script is leaps and bounds more intelligent than it's given credit for. Sure, there are some cheesy lines that feel forced, but for the most part the dialogue doesn't deviate from plot development and nearly every line serves to reveal deep emotion buried in each character. This is not a lighthearted superhero movie. It's a gloomy tragedy and everyone involved in the story, both hero and villain, is battling internal demons as they're plagued by feelings of inadequacy and jealousy despite the wealth and power they possess.

This isn't a happy-go-lucky, let's go kill the bad guy Marvel film. DC has given us something so much deeper than that here. People often complain about the fact that Lex Luthor's plan here doesn't make any sense. (Oh, and Marvel villains' plans do?) Granted, it can seem convoluted as the story progresses and they could have done a better job at clearing up his intentions and logic. But once everything is understood, it really says something about Lex's personality and he becomes much more relatable as a character. Without spoiling anything, in the end, Lex is just as damaged inside as the heroes are. They're really not that different.

Batman v. Superman isn't a film without flaws. It's a bit too long and a little too ambiguous. There really aren't any standout performances, but there isn't a single bad performance, either. Everyone plays their roles very well and emotions run stunningly deep. It's the rare superhero movie that works on an intellectual level, raising thought-provoking moral questions and providing somber character arcs that stick with you after the credits roll.

I was joyfully blown away by the surprisingly existent and powerful plot (which I had heard was nothing). Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot both did a fantastic acting job, and Ben Affleck did a pretty good job as well, though he wasn’t as good a Batman as Michael Keaton was in Batman and Batman Returns (as of this writing, I have not seen the Dark Knight trilogy, so I can not compare Ben Affleck to Christian Bale yet). The special effects were outstanding, on par with the rest of the DCEU. I loved the tension between the two titular characters, as well as the surprise ending! In summary, while lots of people hated this movie, I found it really enjoyable and beyond! The only thing that I would have changed is the length of the movie. Similar to Man of Steel, it felt like it ran too long. Expand

Sure, there might be some things that are wrong about the movie, for example Batman being a killer and Superman being depressing, but overall, it is amazing. All of you DC haters out there, stop being jerks. Also, people who want to watch this movie, please don't say you don't want to see it because of what the critics say. Go watch it and make your own review. The dislike for this movie is very unjust and cruel. It is great. I recommend it especially to comic book lovers. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Yeah so I'm still digesting this and will continue to do so for some time. I really enjoyed it but I expect I will be in the minority because this movie hits my ponderous/angsty/philosophical pleasure centers and its brooding tone probably won't work as well for most. I'll acknowledge that WB's ambitious attempt to introduce a bazillion characters all at once and lay the groundwork for a Justice League movie was over-reaching and sloppy at times, but I appreciate immensely how boldly the filmmakers dove into deconstructing these characters (on a mythical level in the case of Superman and a personal level in the case of Batman, with Lex playing an almost meta-role as the ringleader and Greek chorus since he is the only guy with the Big Picture in mind), which is not something anyone was asking for but it's the kind of work I'm personally interested in. This might have been my favorite superhero movie since Watchmen and my favorite comic book movie since Scott Pilgrim if the editing and third act had been more on point. The story happenings in the last 45 minutes of the film NEEDED to be better thought-out and right now the last act knocks the movie down from “great” to “really good”. There is a spoiler-free TL;DR at the end.

MANY CONTEXTUAL SPOILERS AHEAD.

I really, unabashedly, enjoyed about 65% of it (the action was sparse but solid and the performances were great all around - Affleck was a fantastic Batman, Cavill does a really good job conveying Superman's conflicted emotions, Eisenberg makes a fitting Lex with just the right amount of smarm, wit, and menace, Adams' Lois is the heart that holds it together, Jeremy Irons' Alfred is the voice of reason, etc.). The other 35% ranges from tolerable (Diana Prince) to unnecessary padding (Lois) to just plain bizarre (Batman's desert dream). You could have cut 20~ minutes from this movie, made MINOR script changes in 2 or 3 scenes, and gotten a much tighter and more cohesive story with a character arc for Superman, all without losing the thematic content.

On to length. This movie is such a mixed bag in the sense that it aces the thematic/mythic/character moments that are my favorite part of these movies, but fumbles what should be incredibly simple/routine plot tasks by stretching them out over MANY scenes (Lois' bullet investigation, which was maybe 5 scenes, could have been accomplished in 2, and how many times did we need to hear Perry wondering where Clark ran off to?).

The thematic content (the contrast between a "God" trying to live as a man doing right by his own moral code, a man trying to fend off his own mortal fears and demons by taking on an alien that represents a power no man can fathom or handle, and a man trying to create a devil to kill "God" and achieve power over all men) was ON POINT. The character interactions and portrayals of brooding Bruce/Batman, conflicted Clark/Supes, over-the-top Lex, and the mysterious but upbeat Diana/WW were all superbly done, but when it came to tying these thematic elements together with the plot, the work failed to become more than the sum of its parts. It seemed like the film was building up to a cohesive, operatic finale but everything fell short around the last 45 minutes or so. That's when it became clear that neither of our heroes would be allowed to overstep their boundaries and the title fight was going to be waged based upon a series of misunderstandings, obvious false flag attacks, and blackmail incidents that led to both characters playing right into Luthor's hands.

The issue is that Batman and Superman don't fight because either is truly motivated to take the other out. They fight because the plot demands it: Luthor has cornered Superman and emotionally manipulated Bruce (especially after that last scene with Finch, I found it out of character to the point of incredulity for even an unstable Bruce to have not seen through Lex's ploy here). It's as if WB suddenly decided that rather than risk having one or both of their mascots go too far, it would be easier for them to both be played like saps.

As for the action, hey, I really enjoyed it. The Batmobile chase was great and I prefer this version of the vehicle to Nolan's. The title fight is surprisingly understated. It isn't drawn out, nor is it flashy, but it follows a solid progression with good choreography and it didn't seem like any poor choices were made on the parts of the combatants or filmmakers. **** was clean. Batman has a solid solo fight sequence against some thugs. But the climactic Doomsday clash is the centerpiece and it didn't disappoint. Synder and DP Larry Fong don't opt for much speed-ramping and much of the action is surprisingly done in real-time with less slow-mo than we expect from Snyder..

I really wanted to love this but I can't get past just really liking it. There's so many things they got right but ultimately it's the unnecessary length and aforementioned motivation problems that hold it back from classic status. 8/10

Full of drama and grit, the movies tone is dark and unforgiving. Everything I want from a superhero film, the conflicts and struggles of having such great power but also being in a world of darkness and fragility. Any concerns of Ben Affleck playing batman are gone immediately, he absolutely nailed the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman being older, jaded, and battle hardened. Cavil's superman is so perfect I really can't imagine any other actor playing that role. Jessie Eisenberg's Lex was immature, spoiled, and perfectly evil. Combine these characters with the epic and beautiful cinematography of Zack Snyder and trow in the genius of Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL and we have one of the greatest superhero films of all time. I know many critics are comparing the DC films to the Marvel collection of films, complaining that Batman v Superman is missing the fun and light side of hero films, but thats just it DC comics are dark, jaded, conflicted. I feel that if DC followed in the same recipe and tone as marvel, the critics would complain of them copying each other. DC have made their own universe and it pulls no punches! Its a movie that fans will love and a movie that will create many new fans in its wake. Expand

Ben Affleck really steals the show not as Batman but as Bruce Wayne is when he is at his best.
The ending is strong and i left easily thinking i would go to see the next DC movie.
I actually found the critic score kind of harsh seeing as they gave Iron Man 3 a 62 and Deadpool only a 65 showing that they really cannot be trusted with superhero movies.

Thank You Foolish Critics!!!...

...Because of so many of you and your horrible reviews I went into BvS with extremely low expectations. Instead, I was pleasantly rewarded with quite possibly the best Superhero movie I've seen and perhaps one of my favorite movies...period! As some of you reading this may have already noticed, BvS has not received rave reviews. Matter of fact, most of the so-called critics are trashing this movie; however, after the movie was finished, myself and everyone sitting around me were left asking: "Why?" We were all freaking out and pumped from the DC Trinity extravaganza we all just witnessed.

BvS was a glorious experience that had not only myself, but everyone (I noticed) around me completely enthralled and joyously entertained! I was giddy as a schoolgirl with excitement, particularly because this Superman fanboy not only loved me some Man of Steel, but was absolutely floored by the Batfleck...like that bad guy that was face-planted by Bats in the movie...you know the one. Yes, Mr. Affleck's masterpiece portrayal of the Dark Knight is by far the best Batman ever!...sorry Mr. Bale, but it ain't even close.

This is The Batman I loved from the comics! This is The Batman I loved from Batman: The Animated Series! This is the Batman that is the genius tactician that you could believe is finally capable of living up to the moniker of World's Greatest Detective! In addition, Wonder Woman kicks some serious ass and her appearance definitely received the biggest applause of the movie.

I could go into more detail about what makes this movie great for me, I could go on and on and give you an overly analytical rant as to why I feel the way I do about this film, but let's face it, who am I to suggest what you may like?...which is the same reason why you shouldn't put to much weight in the critics' reviews either.

Is the movie perfect in every way? Perhaps not. The best advice I can give in regards to BvS, is that if you are not already a fan of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, DC Comics or the superhero genre, you may not like the film (or perhaps become a fan yourself). However, if you are already a fan of those things I mentioned, then the movie is definitely worth the price of admission! And furthermore, even though I had already seen all of the trailers, I was still given enough to chew on in this film to feel like I hadn't already seen it all.

Go see this movie with an open mind and if your experience is anything like mine, you'll HAVE A BLAST! BvS is everything an action blockbuster of this type should be: being thoroughly entertained to the point where you and complete strangers around you in the theater can't help but cheer and celebrate together at what you just saw on screen!

I know I'll be going to see it a couple more times before it leaves the theater!
