A Cinecomic with the big C, amazing score, amazing Batman (with the best fight ever seen on screen in the hero's history), amazing dialogues, Luthor yes is a bit different from the character but It's not a problem cause the acting is so freakin good.
Doomsday's fight stunning and WW theme...that's a serious and glorius cinecomic, without stupid gags for children.
Not understanding the meaning of the "Martha scene" show how people don't even have a brain

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The part where Batman has to use his vacuum cleaner to suck Superman into Mickey Mouse's clubhouse is an amazing scene with pretty cool CGI. It was very sad to see Captain America drifting into mickey mouse's train named thomas and Superman blowing up the titanic in avengers shwarma scene. In conclusion, Batman Vaccinating Superman was a good movie. Expand

Casting was a hit or miss; Aflecks Batman and Gadot's Wonder Woman were great choices and worthy of spinoffs. Supporting roles like Alfred (Jeremy Irons) and Senator Finch (Holly Hunter) did what they could with the little or no character building they recieved.

Overall 8/10

It has a lot of catching up to do and hence it burdens the film. For 1 1/2 hour, the film is essentially a slow build up. It explains the world, it explains who Batman is, what's happening to Superman, and many other things. It creaks under its own weight. But somehow due to the commitment of its cast, and the 'manic' energy of its director, Dawn of Justice pulls through. Let's get this out of the way: the critics are not wrong in pinpointing the film's pitfalls, but by giving it such a low score, it also does the audience a great disservice. It is a great film, but clearly not the best there is. An apt comparison is of reading two graphic novels in one sitting (and it is based on two of them: to state the titles will spoil the flick ;P). Revelations: Affleck is a great Wayne / Batman. Gal Gadot...wow. The new Wonder Woman film couldn't come any sooner. Watch it and support it. It is not the Transformers of superheroes as the critics would call it. Expand

Affleck killed it as the dark knight and Batman is the first name in the title for a reason. Batman has far more dialogue and exploration of his character while Cavill's Superman is there most of the time to remiss on the past and to play the role of eye candy. Wonder Woman was a welcomed addition but her introduction was far from good, Although she was great in the final fight of the film.

Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor was sort of a hit and miss for me. He's a very dialogue driven character but most of his dialogue seemed to be filled with verbal ticks and mutters of a mad man rather than a cold and calculated business man. I think they'd have been better off with an older, more mature Lex than a young man.

Speaking of the fight between Batman vs Superman, It was short but sweet. It totally lived up but I expected a bit more back and forth and didn't like that it was so one sided from start to finish. The fight with Doomsday used way too much CGI and seemed like a cluster-f**k of color on screen. Batman, naturally, just sat that one out as Wonder Woman got her chance to shine and use her array of weapons on Doomsday. It was sort of eh for a finale of such a good movie.

Overall, Affleck owned the role of Batman and that alone makes this movie worth seeing. He had so many great action scenes and one liners. The fight between him and Superman was exactly how we wanted it to be. It's a very well done film. Can't wait to buy the director's cut and see all the goodies we missed out on in the theatrical cut.

Maybe it´s not the movie we were expecting, but for the love of god, it surely does not deserve all that **** from the pseudo professional critics.

I think the casting is awesome, and the storyline is not deep... but is a super hero movie, do you remember?, t

the thing is, Zack Snyder uses a different approach for the story telling, and we aren´t used to it, and of course the stupid critics punishes because if it doesn´t include something about racism, slavery, or a surviving story, it is crap

Batman is based on Frank's Miller Character, but only a few know that, and everyone else was looking for the Christopher Nolan´s creation, or the tv characters, and the same goes with Superman, I hate when people says he loves a Character, but they only know one version of them.

I am not saying the movie doesn´t have downs, of course it has, WB wants so bad to catch up with marvel, that they are rushing so many things, but i hope, that eventually they realize that with some patience they can build a universe even bigger than Marvel.

And for the only-movie fans, DC has always been a in a different tone from Marvel in the comics universe, and no, they don´t have to be the same thing as Marvel.

I am REALLY happy I got earlier tickets. When we got out, it was 9pm, and there was only 1 or 2 previews. I think that hurts this movie. I prefer Marvel movies, and I really like the MCU. Because of that, I don't know a lot of the DC history. (I am a big fan of the current CW shows, though).

So, I am pretty sure there were a lot of pieces that went over my head. I have since read some sites talking about easter eggs and explaining parts. That does help the movie. They also just released a deleted scene, that I think explains even more.

So, I'd say as it stands, the movie is good. Not exactly fun, but a good, solid action/super-hero movie. I'd rate it a 7. But, I bumped it 1 more, because the more I read, and learn about it, I really think this movie sets up the coming years quite a bit. I honestly believe that upcoming movies will make pieces of this movie suddenly click into place. That is why I bumped it one more.

I really think Jeremy Irons as Alfred was good. I think Gal Gadot played a very good WW. I am really looking forward to seeing more of her and WW. Henry Cavill was decent. I think Superman was a little on the lame side for most of the movie. I think Ben Afleck did a great Batman. I really like his version, though, I do prefer Bale a bit. Afleck shows that he can be a super-hero... I did not think he could pull it off, after Daredevil. Finally, I think Jesse Eisenberg played a great Lex Luthor. Eccentric, intelligent, thinking/working on a different plane. Diabolical. He played a very interesting character.

I wish the movie had more laughs. There was one big one, in the entire movie. It is a comic book movie, and while I understand the gritty world takes itself VERY seriously, I think you need a few comic beats to really bring the movie together. This one lacked that.

This movie has me really looking forward to what is in store for the DCCU. I am really looking forward to Wonder Woman and Justice League. This is a solid movie, that should be watched at the theater at least once.

Onto the movie. I does have a little bit of hollowness to it at times, and I would say this might come in part because we haven't seen Ben Affleck just be Batman yet, so it's hard to come around to that fact. Once you get past that, the movie kinda forces some scenes.

Then once you look past all of that and just watch to have fun, it's a great movie, period.

People need to remember this is only DCs 2nd outing in this cinematic Universe, Marvel had like 3 or 4 before the Avengers so be patient. The hate is undeserved Affleck is better than Bale imo, comparing the films isn't fair Im talking about the character and for me Affleck was amazing as Batman. Know your enemy's weakness before challenging to a fight!

It is known that critics have no brain. It is the best Superman film as Henry Cavill in the red and blue suit. Yep, I know it is always DC versus Marvel, so it is then DC's reply to the 'Avengers'. I don't care their rivalries, as a film fanatic, I enjoy good films and I found it was so good. But I was a bit worried after the Superman was shown in a dark shade in the trailer, especially after Batwan was overly stylised by Nolan, I thought the black suit would take over. After watching the film I was relieved and happy that Batman was exposed.

Batman fans might have been disappointed, but for the superhero and DC fans, this film is a great treat. You can't compare it with 'Avengers', it had its own style. It follows the 'Man of Steel' and directed by the same director. Excellent cast. I have never been the Ben Affleck hater, so I had no objection to his role in this. He did good along with Cavill and others. He would do better in his solo Batman films if Zack Snyder is retained to script and direct them.

I'm not a comic book reader, so I did not know the story before the watch. I was surprised for the Wonder Woman's part in the film. The visuals were awesome, the story was unpredictable, well developed characters, cleverly composed scenes, wonderful stunt sequences and the film's overall tone was kind of dark and gloomy, a very satisfying superhero film. The content balance was perfect, but the characters did not do the same as we know Superman is a father of all superheroes.

I already watched it twice and I can't wait for its sequel. Especially looking forward for Jesse Eisenberg, because he was kind of stayed low in this and I hope his character Lex becomes much stronger. It is a PG13, and there's nothing botherable stuffs in it for the underage audience, but I felt it is targeted for adults because of the matured flavour. Don't think about that I said, just watch it, it will definitely entertain you well if not blow you away. Surely recommended to all.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Yeah so I'm still digesting this and will continue to do so for some time. I really enjoyed it but I expect I will be in the minority because this movie hits my ponderous/angsty/philosophical pleasure centers and its brooding tone probably won't work as well for most. I'll acknowledge that WB's ambitious attempt to introduce a bazillion characters all at once and lay the groundwork for a Justice League movie was over-reaching and sloppy at times, but I appreciate immensely how boldly the filmmakers dove into deconstructing these characters (on a mythical level in the case of Superman and a personal level in the case of Batman, with Lex playing an almost meta-role as the ringleader and Greek chorus since he is the only guy with the Big Picture in mind), which is not something anyone was asking for but it's the kind of work I'm personally interested in. This might have been my favorite superhero movie since Watchmen and my favorite comic book movie since Scott Pilgrim if the editing and third act had been more on point. The story happenings in the last 45 minutes of the film NEEDED to be better thought-out and right now the last act knocks the movie down from “great” to “really good”. There is a spoiler-free TL;DR at the end.

MANY CONTEXTUAL SPOILERS AHEAD.

I really, unabashedly, enjoyed about 65% of it (the action was sparse but solid and the performances were great all around - Affleck was a fantastic Batman, Cavill does a really good job conveying Superman's conflicted emotions, Eisenberg makes a fitting Lex with just the right amount of smarm, wit, and menace, Adams' Lois is the heart that holds it together, Jeremy Irons' Alfred is the voice of reason, etc.). The other 35% ranges from tolerable (Diana Prince) to unnecessary padding (Lois) to just plain bizarre (Batman's desert dream). You could have cut 20~ minutes from this movie, made MINOR script changes in 2 or 3 scenes, and gotten a much tighter and more cohesive story with a character arc for Superman, all without losing the thematic content.

On to length. This movie is such a mixed bag in the sense that it aces the thematic/mythic/character moments that are my favorite part of these movies, but fumbles what should be incredibly simple/routine plot tasks by stretching them out over MANY scenes (Lois' bullet investigation, which was maybe 5 scenes, could have been accomplished in 2, and how many times did we need to hear Perry wondering where Clark ran off to?).

The thematic content (the contrast between a "God" trying to live as a man doing right by his own moral code, a man trying to fend off his own mortal fears and demons by taking on an alien that represents a power no man can fathom or handle, and a man trying to create a devil to kill "God" and achieve power over all men) was ON POINT. The character interactions and portrayals of brooding Bruce/Batman, conflicted Clark/Supes, over-the-top Lex, and the mysterious but upbeat Diana/WW were all superbly done, but when it came to tying these thematic elements together with the plot, the work failed to become more than the sum of its parts. It seemed like the film was building up to a cohesive, operatic finale but everything fell short around the last 45 minutes or so. That's when it became clear that neither of our heroes would be allowed to overstep their boundaries and the title fight was going to be waged based upon a series of misunderstandings, obvious false flag attacks, and blackmail incidents that led to both characters playing right into Luthor's hands.

The issue is that Batman and Superman don't fight because either is truly motivated to take the other out. They fight because the plot demands it: Luthor has cornered Superman and emotionally manipulated Bruce (especially after that last scene with Finch, I found it out of character to the point of incredulity for even an unstable Bruce to have not seen through Lex's ploy here). It's as if WB suddenly decided that rather than risk having one or both of their mascots go too far, it would be easier for them to both be played like saps.

As for the action, hey, I really enjoyed it. The Batmobile chase was great and I prefer this version of the vehicle to Nolan's. The title fight is surprisingly understated. It isn't drawn out, nor is it flashy, but it follows a solid progression with good choreography and it didn't seem like any poor choices were made on the parts of the combatants or filmmakers. **** was clean. Batman has a solid solo fight sequence against some thugs. But the climactic Doomsday clash is the centerpiece and it didn't disappoint. Synder and DP Larry Fong don't opt for much speed-ramping and much of the action is surprisingly done in real-time with less slow-mo than we expect from Snyder..

I really wanted to love this but I can't get past just really liking it. There's so many things they got right but ultimately it's the unnecessary length and aforementioned motivation problems that hold it back from classic status. 8/10

All actors are making an exceptional job with their roles. Some mistakes that were done on Man Of Steel were corrected, mainly the mistakes related to Superman's personality.
The main problem of this movie is Lois Lane, their scenes break the momentum of the movie, specially between the fights, also these scenes doesn't add too much to the history (except for the first scene), and they're just there to connect some scenes. I would prefer more scenes to develop the relationship between Batman, Superman and Lex Luthor than these pointless scenes.
It is a great movie, and thanks God that it is different from Marvel's movies. I think it is great that DC is trying to make their movies in a different way, treating each one of their movies with a different environment and tone, instead of the standardized Marvel way to do their movies (which I don't think it's bad, but I don't think it would fit in DC's universe).
I recommend to everyone to watch the movie, and make their own opinion about it. Don't care about the reviews. Watch it and see if this DC Universe is appealing for you.

There is time and pacing involved heavily with it. BvS adopts a unique style to pit the iconic characters against each other. The premise comes to its senses when the action unfolds. This is where Snyder has accomplished his feat. The same reason why the movie works for me as the title. The first hour that complements to this development is one of the USP followed by the last act. It's looks unconventional when we see the characters getting involved in the climactic act. But what mattered is how Snyder brought on the aesthetic appeal for comic book fans with the intense action. Wonderwoman should have have add more segments but she does a real good job and becomes the 2nd USP in this movie. If there would be a positive word of mouth, it'd certainly be Wonderwoman centric. Eisenberg deserves a little praise for his skills on Lex Luthor portrayal. Lois Lane should have been used more effectively as a character. The only issue I felt was her timing in the action sequences that kept appearing as a distraction because I demanded immediate action. Overall as a comic book fan, I've been satisfied. I believe if DCEU needs to stand apart, they need to just improvise on this unique style. This could well be the trump card and a reason to stay on a different league than mainstream superhero movies. Expand

I liked it a lot, a good mix of action and backstory and a good conflict. It was really interesting to me because while marvel heroes are always painted as distinctly good guys, here you have superman who is revered by some but hated by others. Despite being completely different, batman too faces the same moral questions as superman as he is viewed as a vigilante. It's just very interesting how different the heroes are they both face the exact same paradox of balancing the good, like how batman wants to kill superman initially and at the same time superman sees batman as a criminal operating outside the law basically. The only part of the movie I didn't like was how batman so quickly changed his mind about superman just cus they told him how Lex was manipulating the situation. I don't think all that deep seeded anger just dies that quickly. Expand

Snyder in the "Batman v Superman", perhaps, reached the pinnacle of his mythmaking work. In the "300" he has mostly stylized the "West-East" mythical dichotomy. In the "Watchmen" he has deconstructed modern
mythological pantheon of comics' pseudo-pagan "deities". However in the "Man of Steel", and in the "300" sequel Zack has not simply played with a myths, but has tried to turn a myths into effective tool to represent
to mass audience real political problems and the genuine myth.

Mythology, long driven underground by rationalism and forced to act using guerrilla methods, appearing in popular culture in the forms of a "scientific" evolutionism, a "scientific" communism and racism, pacifism, humanism and democracy, nihilism and relativism, religious rites, is now boldly enters the scene through the comic book heroes, reviving the pagan pantheon.

Zack has used this modern manifestation of mythology as means to achieve something bigger. Although Christian symbolism was quite timid in the "Man of Steel", pulled into the myth by smuggling, the question of price of democracy in the sequel of "300" sounds quite vocally. But the new "Superman" audio-visually claims to be a complete mythological picture of the world - stunning spectacle with "grim realism" connected with excellent music and an explicitly referenced to the passion of Christ. Here we can see theodicy - "if God is all powerful, why does he allow evil?" - and allusions to rejection of Christ, His sacrifice, perversion of good and evil in today's world, demons putted in the place of angels, the fall of the world, which declared that "God is dead" and summoned demons under the guise of humanitarianism, to an unprecedented evil, hope for good and resurrection, and even the new Saul - Paul - embodied in Batman. Politics is not circumvented in the movie too: here is your "useful idiot" depicted by Holly Hunter, who believes in stuff like that good and evil are determined through dialogue, and here is degeneration of democracy into the rule of mob, regulated like a stream of water at the tap by mass media.

So, we have a full-grown modern myth, and it is pointless to try to criticize a myth from the standpoint of logic - a myth is not based on logical constructs, but on facts and imagination. A myth is a holistic view of reality, not its analytical description. Thus negative critical reviews looks ridiculous - whether those critics are furious because of Christian symbolism, or because of satirizing depicture of the left-liberal useful idiots - they are trying to deconstruct an audiovisual concept on words and letters which are not there, claiming a violation of rules of construction of non-existent sentences. Myths are immune to such kind of criticism, and the critics only expose themselves to be fools, set out to chop up the wind.

Snyder was able to deliver what he wanted to with his myth - he took advantage of modern mythology to undermine its own pagan foundations, dragging in it and actualizing Christianity with its complex ontological questions and insisting on the absolute good and evil, contrary to the beliefs in "dialogue" by left-liberal useful idiots. All these are contained in a beautiful, fascinating mythological form, realistic, gloomy, dynamic and visually stunning. With great score and a wonderful selection of actors - cynical Affleck, ironic Irons, detached Cavill, natural Adams, convinced Eisenberg and antic cold Gadot - all are in their due places.

Stars Wars FA broke records and most critics loved it...for hard core fans...it was a recycled crap and not a whole lot complained.

This movie wasn't all that bad at all...it was laying the groundwork for future movies. What I didn't like:
- the actor playing Lex Luthor....tried too hard to the point of being annoying.
- 15min could have been cut that was spent on rehashing Bruce's parents death...
- the mega monster lacked imagination ...
- Alfred should have been played by someone way older...

Other than that..it was a good movie. Affleck actually did OK as batty.

for those wondering or complaining about it being incoherent....well, those are the types that don't like reading a good book or would rather text than call about breaking up!

Listening to the critics you would be convinced that this movie is a train wreck, and that is far from the reality. All of the criticisms are accurate, but all of the issues raised are very minor next to all of the great aspects of the film. The editing is weak, the scenes don't always flow logically from one to another, and I could have used a couple extra scenes setting up Wonder Woman's history (we've all seen Batman's origin a dozen times by now), but the action, story, and acting more than make up for the procedural errors. As far as stories go I really enjoyed it. It was a nice and fresh approach with lots of great action moments.
To be quite honest I'm looking forward to seeing more of this Batman more than anything else. I couldn't care much for the upcoming Suicide Squad with that generic thug-looking Joker, but Batman v Superman was a great watch. Yes this Batman is very different, so is the Lex, but why does different have to be so bad? They still stuck to the core of the characters, and that's what matters.
I would recommend this to any Batman or Superman fan and life-long comic book readers.

'Batman V Superman' is in my opinion one of the best movies based off comics in recent memory. Especially when compared to the last phase of Marvel movies which ended with a thud in last years 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'. The film is triumphant in it's visual storytelling from director Zack Snyder, with deep and philosophical writing to support it, no doubt in part to academy award winning screen writer Chris Terrio who penned 'Argo' back in 2012 with Ben Affleck. Speaking of Batfleck, he gives a monumental performance as a world weary Bruce Wayne and an even grittier Batman then what we have seen before, even better than Christian Bales portrayal in the Christopher Nolan directed 'Dark Knight' trilogy if i may add. As a launchpad to a Cinematic Expanded Universe, I am very excited for what is held in store for the soon to be brought together 'Justice League'. Expand

It isn't anything like the tried-and-tested Marvel formula, but it isn't, as I've read elsewhere, "completely devoid of all amusement". Don't get me wrong, the tone of the movie is certainly dour, and if you're a fan of that (like me) you'll probably enjoy the movie, but it's not as joyless as Man of Steel was at times, another movie I enjoyed greatly. This movie is a spectacle, it's grand and loud, and by the final action sequence I truly felt like these characters were closer to Gods than most other big name superheros; the scale, while not massive in actuality, seemed immense befitting the characters involved.
It's not without its issues, and the common complaint of off-pacing is something I agree with. It's obvious that there's so much to deal with here that some plot-lines get axed, to be restored in the Director's Cut, but almost to the detriment of the subsequent scenes, which seem to come from nowhere. These segments are few and far between, and they certainly didn't greatly impact my experience watching the movie, but they were noticeable.

Overall I feel like Snyder (who's not a director I can claim to have a great love for) did a pretty great job with fitting all the numerous pieces of this movie together into an action packed, enjoyable story with a solid cast, great visuals, and a reverence for the icons it sports. These are not the same Batman and Superman we've seen over the years, and I'm O.K. with that. Variety is the spice of life after all.

Slightly overlong in term of running time, the film opens surprisingly beautiful with flashback of Wayne's disastrous childhood and further progresses into the reckless fight between Superman and Zod at the end of previous installment. The ambitious and potential major acts in the film - conflict between Batman and Superman, Lex Luthor's motives and the fight against villain at the climax; all seems to be underdeveloped and not well executed, leaving several questions of all the intentions behind. Ben Affleck as Batman is on par with Bale's version but a bit more brutal and stubborn, Cavill's Superman is fine but a bit depressed, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman is definitely the gorgeous one and she manages to capture the attentions even with a limited screening time, Jeremy Iron's Alfred owns a great chemistry with Wayne but Eisenberg portrayal of Lex Luthor is over exaggerated. Although heavily CGIs, Snyder has delivered spectacular visual effects and intense actions among the superheroes while the collaboration between Zimmer and Junkie XL are just outstanding to produce different adrenaline driven theme scores for all the superheroes. While it might not be the best superheroes flick, lacks of humors and emotional depth compared to The Dark Knight trilogy, it is an overall improvement from Man of Steel and the Nolan style ending is still impressive enough to further expands into the universe of Justice League. The plot takes its time to set up and that's great too, you don't have a two hours long movie with just battles, and god, that's refreshing.

Alright...I will try and keep the review as non biased as possible.
First off, the movie is not perfect in any way possible. This was a SIX hour movie compressed into 2.5 hours and the final scene was completely shoehorned (doomsday Thing). That being said, the first part of the movie was pretty much perfect.

Things I loved about the movie.
1. All things to do with batman.
2. Wonder Woman was pretty kickass.
3. I actually enjoyed the lex luthor take of the movie.
4. The visuals are freaking awesome.
5. The flash coming in was really fun too.
6. The superman doing good montage was really awesome.

Things that I wish they had done differently
1. should have made the movie longer. although the movie juggled too many plot lines, none of them were seen to fruition.
2. The movie made the dangerous assumption of thinking that all the moviegoers will understand all the subplots which are dropped in the movie. Now I had no problem since i am familiar with the comic book lore; but on the other hand, I had to constantly explain these things to my clueless friends.

Things that I did not like about the movie at all
1. The editing and cutting is not good. (Hoping to god that the extended version will do some good) .
2. Anything related to the metro news plot.
3. Doomsday.

All in all..... if you are a casual movie goer, you will have a decent time; If you are going in just to pass your time, you might end up not liking the movie; But if you are a fan and actually know the comic lore, you will love it.

Hope this review Helps.

Spoiler review part
What i liked:
seeing the events of superman in the eyes of different characters and how it affected them. I thought it was cool to see what it was like from the outside looking in.
Batman's twisted character: as a comic book fan, I liked how dark his character was and how scary he should be to everyone else in his world. The scenes of him in the jail cell and in that random gotham place with the captives showed us how terrifying he is (and is supposed to be)
The action: the action was so good
The effects: the effects were amazing
The soundtrack: the sound track was outstanding
I also really liked how big the heroes seemed to be. You could really feel how powerful each one was and how non human they are when they fight. even the small aquaman scene looked epic. unlike other superhero movies, i liked how gigantic the characters here were.
The villain(/s) was(/were) a genuine threat. The impact of the villain(s) was felt. I feel like in other movies the villain ends up being a pushover and not really doing much, or not threatening as much. In this movie the villain was real and you could feel it.
I initially hated the casting for wonder woman, but I loved the actress in the movie. (also her themes song rocked)
Almost all actors were good except for lex.

What i didnt like:
very segmented and dragged out middle part. Lots of story related scenes that would confuse non comic readers, or people who did not pay close attention.
Batman felt a little **** at times. Batman's costume looked bad
Lex luthor was played horribly, actor was really bad, i didnt feel that he needed to play him as a psychotic person, and even when doing so, it was really cringy. he did not deliver.

------------------------------------
bottom line: I really liked the movie, enjoyed it a lot! There were a few things that made me cringe, but overall i had a good time watching it.

Check. Gratuitous explosions? Absolutely. Does it share some of the same problems as Man of Steel? Yes. But it's a comic book movie, an epic one at that, pinning two of the greatest superheroes against each other - Batman v Superman - and superhero movies like this are meant to entertain. So for the most important question: is BvS entertaining? You bet your ass. Expand

I'm just going to say it: I loved this movie. I don't know why people give it such a low score. This movie wasn't bad. Maybe because people nowadays are accustomed to the formula of Marvel movies that this movie, to them, seems boring; but II'm just going to say it: I loved this movie. I don't know why people give it such a low score. This movie wasn't bad. Maybe because people nowadays are accustomed to the formula of Marvel movies that this movie, to them, seems boring; but I assure you, it's not.

The first half of the film is a tense political drama about whether or not the world needs Superman, while the second half of the film shows us that it doesn't need just Superman, but also the rest of the superheroes. Yes, the movie is dark as compared to Marvel's, but to me it's a wonderful change of pace. I always praised DC's comics because they're so much darker, so much close to reality. It leads you to think, to reflect, and to question your morals. That's what this movie does.

Although, I do agree that up to the end of the film, there is a TON of CGI, but we kinda already expected that judging from the trailer.

In my opinion, if you read particular Batman or Justice League comics, you'd know that there are a lot of references to them in the film. Comic books such as The Dark Knight Returns, and Injustice have heavy references here. There are particular scenes that really come from these books, and for me it makes these movies better if you have knowledge of the comic books that they were influenced by. It's like the director or the writers giving you a little wink whenever these scenes pop up with these little references.

Overall, I enjoyed this film. I think Ben Affleck did a great job as Batman, and I never really liked Henry Cavill as Superman, but he did a better job here, for me, than he did in Man of Steel. I look forward to seeing more films with Ben Affleck as Batman.

Is it flawed? Sure. But what movie isn't. We should be glad that we were given the chance to watch a superhero movie that doesn't follow the same old formula, which in my opinion is getting quite repetitive, and is something different both in tone and story. The fact that the movie reminded me of Batman TAS and Superman TAS is definitely a plus.

Let's start with the performances, everyone from the main cast to the supporting worked well, the stand out being Ben Affleck. Not only did he prove the haters wrong, but he brought something new to the role. For once you actually fear the Batman. Cavill was good as well, and you could really feel his pain of being an outsider (which is continued from Man of Steel). Amy Adams was much better this time around in her role as Lois Lane, and she again reminded me of Superman TAS. Jeremy Irons was obviously great as Alfred. Gadot in my opinion was alright as Wonder Woman, I guess we need to see more from her. Now let's come to Lex Luthor... instead of feeling like a man of grace and one that you should fear, Lex feels like a wannabe Joker, it felt like Jesse was playing a cartoon cartoon and it is quite clear that he needed a paycheck. But if you ignore the character's roots, he is a decent enough villain even if you would like to punch him every time he's on screen.

The pacing although not great, was not terrible either. It was quite noticeable that a few scenes were cut in between and maybe the R-rated cut should help with the movie's flow. There were also quite a few choices made by the filmmaker that would anger quite a few fans. But this is something to be expected from Zack Snyder.

Overall the movie was quite enjoyable, it had some really amazing parts and some that you would outright hate. But these parts really didn't ruin the experience for me, because at the end of the day it is someone else's interpretation of these heroes. I'm just glad that we were able to watch these two iconic heroes on the screen together.

This is my own opinion and you should make your own. Watch the movie if you are interested but don't let the critics have an effect on your viewing experience because it definitely isn't the abomination that some would like you to believe. Although far from a perfect superhero experience, it is in my opinion better than quite a few thing that we have seen before. Maybe in the next couple of years, people might appreciate it more.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman v Superman is a great movie. Ben Affleck is also a magnificent Batman rivaling both Michael Keaton and Christian Bale. In my opinion though Jessie Hisnberg was a mistake as Lex. Now this movie covers two comics. The battle between Batman and Superman in the dark knight returns and the death of
Superman. As I previously said, yes Superman dies by the hands Doomsday. Most people will think that it's too early to kill off Superman in the second movie, but I thought it was ballsy move and I'm ok with that plus it's great motivation to start the JLA. So if you're a fan of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, or even just good movies give Batman v Superman a watch.

Dawn of Justice is weighed down by poor editing, uneven pacing, and an overstuffed plot. However it makes up for its flaws with impressive action sequences, a refreshingly dark tone, plenty of emotional moments, and a powerful message.

My take on Batman vs Superman (Spoiler Free)
If you were worried about Ben Affleck as Batman or Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, don't be. Both pulled off their roles very well.
Theater applauded when Wonder Woman appeared. Nicely setup.
Lots of scenes ripped straight from the comics and even the videogames (great easter eggs I don't want to spoil).
Fight scenes were well done. Not the mess in Man of Steel.
Biggest flaw was the pacing of the first hour. Slow.
No end credit scenes. Feel free to leave when the credits roll.
Not kid friendly.
Overall 8/10

Internet and critics were to harsh on the movie but to be fair, you have to have a lot of DC-related knowledge to enjoy the movie. Clearly is not aiming to a wide audience. Content is good, the distribution of it, is flawed. Also Affleck and Gadot, nailed their roles! (Luthor was meh, but I hope for some potential future development).
If you don't want to spend nearly 3 hours sitting (feels like a marathon of a series) then yup, wait for the Netflix release. But overall, I really liked the movie, and if you liked the DC-animated movies, then you probably like this one too. It doesn't deserve the bad reviews and this kind of movies clearly show how bad-used-to we are with all this colorful Marvel movies. Is a very dense movie comparable with Watchmen, a lot of things happen and the assembly of those things might be a bit confusing and against the pacing, but again, the content is good. You don't go out with the sense of "oh, they could have added -insert anything- in there". It is a needed movie for what it comes for the DC cinematic universe, it was a good choice not to make it a proper MoS sequel or a Batman solo movie. It is a transition movie with a lot of context created for you to understand why things are happening, or will happen.
PS: Ben Affleck, if you ever read this, know that you were a superb Batman, way better than Bale.. Don't be Sad.

I know, I'm surprised too! Affleck and Cavill were great. The critics were way off-base giving this film low scores.

The Good:
- I went in expecting an action film. And got it, plus a bit of depth to Batman
- The best parts of the movie are the dream sequences and the Bruce/Kent scenes.
- Alfred is awesome.
- Following some comic cannon and break some cannon
- Lex Luthor is a big crazy jerk (I enjoyed it, again unexpectedly)
- The non-supervillain fight scenes were great.
- It was fun film.

The Mediocre:
- WW scenes
- Couple of plot holes

The Bad:
- Money Hungry Producers (the bane of all movie buffs)
-Rushed plot, they could have cut the cameos and stuck to Bats, Sups & WW.
-David Goyer is absolutely a great writer; but the Money Hungry Producers asked to much of him.
-Zack Snyder is a good director, and obviously loves comics; but the Money Hungry Producers asked to much of him too.
- Brand building by Money Hungry Producers
- the supervillain a CGI mess at time, although, considering the source material, its pretty close...
- Should have given it a sharper/harder ending - but Money Hungry Producers need to setup a franchise.
- Did I mention Money Hungry Producers

Good action film, you should go see it. Really, I give it: 78/100 - Don't expect a Chis Nolan drama/adventure film and you won't be disappointed.

I gave this movie a solid 8. It was A L OT of fun and a MUCH needed upgrade from the disappointing Man of Steel movie.
To my surprise, Affleck was a very good Batman. Lex/Eisenberg were the surprising (to me) weak links. The way Lex was written reminded me of a hybrid Joker/Lex character more than what Lex Luther is supposed to be. Eisenberg was a terrible casting choice.
Other than that, the cast was very solid, the action was great, and it was a fun and enjoyable movie. I didn't find the story hard to follow at all. This movie is a much needed win for DC in this genre!

Noticing that, the logic conduces me to rate this movie as a 5 or a 6 in the best case, but I can't do that. Why? Because Ben Affleck's casting, and his performance was without exaggerating, a complete dream. There's nothing bad you can say about his Batman after watching the movie, he was just 5/5, and he really steals the scenes. This is obviously powered by the initial rejection to Affleck's choice for the paper. Gal Gadot is a convincing WW, even with her short on-screen time, Henry Cavill is on MoS line, good, and Jesse Eisenberg does a 'jokered' Lex that looks like a tribute for me, and I liked it, just as I liked Heath's performance.
In the other side, Doomsday was just ridiculous.
In the overall, the movie is a nice show, but it has several problems. But if you like the bat, that will not matter at all, and you will enjoy just like I did, remembering when you were a child, or a teen, and seeing THE SAME Batman on screen played perfectly and perhaps dropping a tear seeing him.

The movie isn't without it's faults, but it's not anywhere near as bad as people made it out to be.

The acting is solid, the action is fun and plentiful, and the story is pretty good. Most surprising of all was how well Ben Affleck did as Batman/Bruce Wayne. I was VERY skeptical of Affleck's casting, but I'd say he's one of the top actors to take on the role, if not the best. Shocking, I know, but give him a chance and keep an open mind.

The worst part of this film is all of the slow motion and overly dramatic, corny shots. Gotta blame the director. Very amateurish. Also, cutting down on the stupid slow motion shots probably could've cut some of the films epic length. This film also makes use of the toned down colors from Man of Steel in a big way, and it came across like someone going over the top with instagram filters. The only other negative I saw was the lack of dialogue. As great as the acting was, the script did not give them a chance to shine. There was ample room for witty banter (maybe even some comedy), introspection into characters' thinking, backstory, etc. Maybe they could've given the characters a chance to talk, if they'd cut back on all of the slow motion posing.

Anyway, keep an open mind and give this movie a chance. It'll surprise you. (would've given the film a 9, but Holly Hunter is in it.)

Anyways, to the film... Completely different than Marvel's films - and that's a good thing. Zack Snyder is catching way too much flak when he indeed did exactly what a DC universe needed. Why would we want two comic book franchises doing the exact same thing? The acting was good universally, but I was most surprised by Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor. Looking forward to the next chapter in the series.

But frankly, I feel it is the critics just being too critical. This movie was pretty great. It wasn't perfect, but it was a good deal better than most people are saying. I think it held pretty strongly to the comics except for a few points. The Final battle in the movie when Wonder Woman showed up was... weird. It changed the tone that was already established and that didn't exactly fit well. Other than that it was pretty much spot on to the characters other that the deaths batman caused. The opening scene is one of the most memorable scenes of the movie. Everyone acting in the movie did great. Jessie Eisenburg did a fine job has the son of Lex Luthor but everything came with twists and turns. This movie is not that dark, it is actually sort of fun, bit not Avengers fun. Everything that comes oout of Alfred's mouth is hilarious. Bruce Wayne is my favorite Batman, but Christian Bale is my favorite Bruce Wayne. I loved his fighting style and Ben Affleck did an amazing job. I can't wait to see him in a stand alone movie. All I'm saying is that this movie is underrated. It is a lot of fun and for those less cynically influenced, a great superhero drama.
There were some minor pacing issues in the movie. Many dream sequences (yes multiple) seemed unnecessary except to drop some easter eggs for salivating comic fans like myself. The first half goes a bit too long and the second half feels a bit rushed. Hopefully the directors cut will address the last issue.

Affleck and Gal Gadot quickly quiet any doubts as they quickly take on the best characters in the film alongside Jeremy Irons as Alfred. Cavill and Adams are certainly serviceable as Lois and Clark. Eisenberg as Lex Luthor may be more divisive and he gradually became worse and worse as the movie went on. Some will love him and traditionalists may hate him.

The trailer did spoil a few too many things, yet, the movie still has several "WOW" moments and tear jerking scenes. A scene involving a mother's name was particularly strong for me.

This movie is NOT the somewhat brainless but fun and flashy roller coaster of a Marvel movie experience. Nor does it seek to be the ultra realistic and philosophical Nolan-verse. It falls somewhere in the middle. It does at times take itself TOO seriously, however never to a significant fault.

The imagery is excellent, particularly for fans of comic books. You'll see many scenes from iconic story lines recreated perfectly. Yet, as with many films of the Superhero Era, there is far too much dependence upon CGI at times and it can occasionally pull the audience out of the experience.

As the movie concluded, it drew standing applause from the audience- something I did not expect after disliking Man of Steel and seeing the poor critical reviews. Really. It happened. Goes to show, you never know what to expect. If you like DC Comics, go see this movie. If not, it certainly wouldn't be a waste of an afternoon.

This movie was made for super hero fans. If you don't like super-heroes probably you will not like this movie.

Zack Snyder takes a lot of risks and they largely pay off. He is willing to deconstruct the heroes in order to rebuild them. Great performance from the entire cast. The movie looks awesome thanks to Larry Fong.

Its a very well shot movie and the acting for the most part is done well (Stand out performance from Gal and Ben for their versions of WonderWoman and Batman). The visuals are amazing almost right out of pages from the comic book. However, this movie isn't w/o faults. While the story is coherent for the most part there are scenes in which the there was clearly a scene that should've proceeded this one event but it didn't because it was most likely cut to keep the already long run time down below 3 hours. I feel that the Ultimate Cut which is rumored to be rated R will have the better storyline hopefully it won't feel as if it is dragging because of the 3 hours. I think, in my opinion, the weakest performance was Jesse Esienberg. I get what he was trying to do but it just comes off as campy and forced rather than fluid. When you are trying to have a sociopath pretend to be normal the character should behave similar to Hannibal Lector or Dexter Morgan. His way.....just seemed so off. Another compliant that I have which seems to be more about scenes that were cut was how little interaction the two title characters actually received. All the scenes w/ them in the trailers ARE the scenes in which they are together in the movie. I feel like there should've and probably was scenes that were cut from the movie that would've played into this dynamic but unfortunately we wont know till December or early next year when the Blu Ray is released. All in all, I enjoyed this movie and it took a 2nd viewing to really appreciate the movie for what its worth. 6.5/10 based on first viewing, 8/10 after sec viewing. Expand

This is a great film. It's not an amazing film by any stretch of the imagination but it is nowhere near as bad as the critics are making out.

This is a great DC Universe film and the cast are, for the most part, excellent. The only character that didn't work was Lex but apart from that everyone was great. Sure the pacing stuttered in places, the dialogue was poor in others and the end section dragged (for me) but generally I was entertained and enjoyed the film.

Ben Affleck is the definitive screen Batman for me. His size, tone and approach were spot on.

I'm looking forward to the next one.

Zack Snyder has a style of film that not all critics appreciate and that sometimes does not allow them to review his films fairly. So my advice to anyone who wants to see it, then go and make up your own mind about it.

So I'll get right to it. Yes, this film has some issues. Do I think they're significant ones? No. Is it better than the Nolan Batman movies, no. Is it dark and brooding? Yes. Is it totally humorless? No.

The lack of humor has been mentioned by virtually every reviewer who holds a negative view of the movie. Its an unfair accusation - firstly DC movies are always a bit less light-hearted than those of a Marvel variety. Secondly - there are genuine moments of humor which the whole screening I was at laughed at. Even one from the Dark Knight himself having come to the aid of a damsel in distress.

Affleck is a fantastic Batman - physically he's the best fit to date. As Bruce Wayne he's suitably playboy-ish when needed. This is not a young Batman who is still naive and full of hope that he can change Gotham. He' s quite obviously scarred by years of action, questioning what good he's actually achieved.

Cavill is again a good fit for Superman - a lot of the earlier parts of the movie do focus on Batman, but the Man of Steel is not ignored.

There are multiple dream scenes - and they're one of the weaker aspects of the movie for me. They do take you away from the moment, and one or two are superfluous. Removing some of these would have resulted is a lot less negativity from the harsher critics, but they're not enough to ruin the movie for me.

This movie quite obviously acts as a set up for the Justice League universe - so we get to see Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman for the first time. Shes perfectly good at whats required of her in this - I wouldn't go so far as to say shes a scene-stealer by any means though. The introduction to some of the other meta humans who will make up the JL was fine - it fitted into one of the story threads, and was pretty brief.

Another complaint leveled at the movie is the length of time it takes for Batman and Superman to get to fight each other Its a baffling complaint - akin to complaining about the shark not being seen earlier in Jaws. Its meant to be left until near the end, and its a pretty brutal fight. If you are a fan of The Dark Knight Returns, I think you'll be pretty satisfied by it.

The Doomsday fight is not as effective in my opinion, mainly due to some CGI overload. The problem is though - with Supermans powers, its hard to find someone to fight him who can provide a challenge, and the majority of his enemies are going to have to be done in CGI. A few less blasts of light might have helped though.

Overall, I thought the movie served to open us up to not only the JL movie, but the standalone Batman and Wonder Woman movies. I really liked it, without loving it. If you watched the trailer and didn't like what you saw, you won't enjoy this, so stay at home.

Ben Affleck really steals the show not as Batman but as Bruce Wayne is when he is at his best.
The ending is strong and i left easily thinking i would go to see the next DC movie.
I actually found the critic score kind of harsh seeing as they gave Iron Man 3 a 62 and Deadpool only a 65 showing that they really cannot be trusted with superhero movies.

I am a big comic book fan and I attended the Thursday night showing with 2 friends. One is a moderate fan and the other has never even seen Man of Steel. All 3 of us really had a good time and we all left the theater wanting to see it again. I hope you go check it out and enjoy it! Expand

I like how the story focuses on a major criticism of "Man of Steel", which was the devastation of a large portion of the city in the final act. The public both hate and love Superman, while politicians and the media debate about his actions. Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor privately resent how powerless Superman's abilities makes them feel. It taps into Bruce's feeling of helplessness to save his parents, only this time the threat is to all of humanity. Affleck is a great Batman/Bruce Wayne.

I also enjoyed this Lex Luthor. You can see in his body language and facial twitches that he is barely able to mask his contempt for all the average people around him. I like how his theme music is the Superman theme but all warped like it was played on an out of tune piano. Wonder Woman was great too. She actually enjoys the battle in the final act as she is finally able to cut loose on a powerful foe. I really want to see the full 3 hour film as 30 minutes of story can have a massive impact.

CRITICISMS: The Batman music at times is overbearing. It sounds like booming industrial war drums. There are three jarring dream/vision sequences that make no contextual sense, and add nothing to the story. They should have been cut with the other 30 minutes of material as they just confused the audience. The film ends on a melancholy note, which seems like an odd choice as it was supposed to get us excited for a Justice League sequel.
