Just saw it tonight. In my opinion, this is the best superhero movie I saw. It's more enjoyable than the 2 avengers movies. Reviewers ( both youtubers and mainstream ) had issues with the screenplay, pacing and story, this was not the caseJust saw it tonight. In my opinion, this is the best superhero movie I saw. All the doubts I had on the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman are gone. I'm genuinely excited for all their solo films and the Justice League movie. My only complaint is that the set up for DCEU was all crammed into one movie. I wish they would have taken a different path establishing it.
Over all though, I honestly left the theater wanting to see more and I'm hopeful for this DC universe that has been established.… Expand

The critics have apparently watched a different version. This is a well made movie, finding its roots from various story arcs from the world of comics. It is a mindblowing treat for comic and gaming fans. For DC fans, it is a clear 10/10.The critics have apparently watched a different version. This is a well made movie, finding its roots from various story arcs from the world of comics. It is a mindblowing treat for comic and gaming fans. For DC fans, it is a clear 10/10. Even for the casual super hero flick fan, it is atleast an 8 or a 9/10. BvS is a great build up to the Justice League. Ben Affleck's grim portrayal of Batman is topclass. The motivation behind the battle is well thought out. The gladiator match is truly epic. The teasers & Easter eggs are quite intelligently infused. There are certain scenes/dream sequences that will make you ponder about what lies ahead once you step out of the theatre. I am a Nolan Dark Knight trilogy fan and I feel Zack Snyder's magnum opus is worth experiencing. Both come from a different school of thought. Both are commendable in the scale they have reached. It is not about either or.
Go for it if you haven't already. Critics are completely off tangent on this one!… Expand

People accusing it to be "gritty" or "dark", have to understand this is not some cheesy family friendly superhero flick like Avengers and such, there's not prince charming awakening the sleeping beauty and no happy ending. The movie is targeted to a much more mature audience, and you should keep that in mind even before sitting down in the theater.… Expand

As many other people have stated, do not go by the reviews of the critics for this one. My expectations were really low going into this film, and I actually felt discouraged to go see it. All because I happened to read some of the reviewsAs many other people have stated, do not go by the reviews of the critics for this one. My expectations were really low going into this film, and I actually felt discouraged to go see it. All because I happened to read some of the reviews where critics were tearing it apart. Well, I ended up walking out of the theater relieved and smiling because I enjoyed it so much.

The cast is fantastic, the story is great and the music is wow so powerful.

Be your own judge. Sure, you may not like it, but at least give it a chance.… Expand

In this instance it seems that critics have either tried to actively dislike this movie or have piggybacked off each others reviews, why? Is it because it's DC not Marvel? You can tell Synder loves the source material, it's not a cash grab for him. It's mature, it's dark, it has a political edge which feels far more authentic. Zack Snyder is a master, this is one of the best superhero films of all time. Critics have it totally wrong. Zack Snyder doesn't make a pantomime with 'likeable' characters as in Marvel, this film does what a comic does. This is not Marvel. Now I'm not putting down Marvel movies. I've seen them all and liked them, some more than others of course. But this movie has a much more intense storyline and let's face it, there is no one in the Marvel Universe (except perhaps Punisher) who is anything like Batman. As far as I'm concerned, this movie blew the Marvel movies out of the water. I loved the story. The acting is superb. It has heart and I found myself actually caring about the characters. The cameos of the Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg were also really good. Don´t believe the critics, this movie is awesome, it is from comic book fans and for comic book fans! It is Dark, has a great history and lots of easter eggs, well, it is not perfect, but it deserves a 10/10.

I loved this movie. As I was watching it, I realized early on that it was actually engaging me in a different way than the usual superhero movies. This is not your typical summer movie superhero formula movie. It actually requires you toI loved this movie. As I was watching it, I realized early on that it was actually engaging me in a different way than the usual superhero movies. This is not your typical summer movie superhero formula movie. It actually requires you to think! The Cinematography is absolutely gorgeous, you'll notice it just from the intro sequence. Very nice sophisticated color palettes are in every frame and the movie is just technically very well done. I loved the story and the the many layers that were built into it. The storytelling was top-notch, a lot of actually respecting the viewers' intelligence to connect the dots. The action sequences are one-of-a-kind. You won't find any superhero movie coming close to it (maybe Man of Steel). There's more to the movie than just a superhero fight (but it's there, of course). There's a good amount of really well acted build up to the grand clash.

The acting is on a different calibre! Top notch work from everyone. Ben Affleck's Batman just topped Christian Bale's (not making light of Bale) in my book and Lois and Clark are actually depicted like the ones I grew up with in the mid 80's. Gal Gadot is a scene stealer and Holly Hunter and Eisenberg have some of the most intense and memorable scenes together. Jeremy Irons is an awesome Alfred. Laurence Fishbourne does an even better job at being Perry White in this movie than Man of Steel.

I read all the negative and mixed reviews before watching it on a Thursday night screening, critics really don't want this universe to kick off, and they failed at trying to stop that(record breaking box office numbers lol). All I have to say is that they are wrong.

I was blown away by this movie. Everyone was perfect, I even enjoyed Eisenberg's Lex Luthor! He's honestly the only one getting heat, if people didn't like him it was because of Snyder's interpretation of him, not Jesse himself, his acting was great. And Ben Affleck's Batman, best on screen Batman to date, he nailed it, best part of the movie. Not to mention Gal Gadot's wonder woman...I'm in love. Of course Henry played a solid Superman as we expected, I'm sure we are all on board for him after watching Man of Steel.

It has its flaws just like any other movie, but by the end you won't care about them. The Good outweighs the bad tremendously! Zack Snyder made a beautiful movie and his team did a great job, and I look forward to the rest of the DC universe. Props to Hans and Tom, the soundtrack was superb! I was not expecting such big emotional hits from this movie, I'm a grown ass man and I literally cried, I haven't felt this emotional in a movie since Passion of the Christ.

Strongly recommend watching it at least twice! It gets better each time!… Expand

Great movie!! Keep in mind they were setting up the entire DC universe with one movie, so yes, there were multiple story lines thrown at you in a short amount of time, but it didn't bother me. Affleck killed it as Batman and Gal Gadot wasGreat movie!! two things are a bit annoying about the movie:
1.) it sure does have some unnecessary and lenghty parts but it's not too bad.
2.) plot may feel 'all over the place' to some - if u are dim witted.

I rated it 10/10 to counterbalance the hilariously bad scores it received. My actual verdict would be 8/10.… Expand

I thought this movie is outstanding and under-appreciated, just like Dredd. Zack Snyder definitely did his homework and provides a strong plot without gimmicks, holes, or ridiculous improbability. The tie in to the battle with Zod fromI thought this movie is outstanding and under-appreciated, just like Dredd. Zack Snyder definitely did his homework and provides a strong plot without gimmicks, holes, or ridiculous improbability. The tie in to the battle with Zod from Superman Returns was seamless, and Batman's reaction was explained well and believable. I actually felt like I was agreeing with both sides of the Batman v Superman conflict, which is a huge testament to the masterful writing. Luthor's plot is witty and compliments the other plotlines. Doomsday's origin may upset the fanboys, but is perfect for this adaptation. The action sequences were exciting and satisfying but without excess, and maintained believability without targeting only the "wow factor". Cgi looks great and not comical.

Snyder avoids the pitfall of selling the actors, not the story. I was doubtful going in, but Affleck is a great Batman, keeping his performance dark and understated - true to character and without any of the "look at me" or smirkiness that ruined Clooney and Kilmer's past attempts. Cavill is a dynamite Superman (again), who certainly exudes the farm boy absolute goodness and inner conflict of the role without making the audience choke on it, while also physically matching the role better than Reeves ever did. Eisenberg personifies the brilliance, ego, and hidden boldness of Luthor without tainting the role with the comedy and insecurity for which he's known. I sincerely hope these actors continue these roles!

The one place where the movie misses the mark, however, is the female casting. Amy Adams still doesn't sell as Superman's love interest (too plain, maybe?), but I appreciate the continuity from the first movie. Gal Gadot definitely has the face for Wonder Woman, but not the body of an amazon goddess. With Cavill and Affleck adding serious muscle to look the part, it is impossible to not notice the contrast of how skinny Wonder Woman is, which makes her fight scenes less believable. Finally, just like in Superman Returns, Major Carrie Farris, USAF, is an annoying and unnecessary character indulgence that falls flat on its face. (Is she Snyder's girlfriend or something?)

This is a great example of what superhero movies can be. I will definitely buy this movie.… Expand

The Story was reasonable. Its what exactly would happen is Superman would come to our Earth. The whole movie is very dark and different to Marvels fun Heros (wich i love too, dont get me wrong) But this movie is way more tragic und bitter, iThe Story was reasonable. Critics are out of their minds. This is very enjoyable superhero fare. Movie is an 8 but I give it a 10 to offset colossally nonsensical critic ratings. Affleck is Batman. It's awesome.

Despite the bad critic review, seemed just like my type of movie.

It has more of a Watchman feeling than an Avenger, which is completely fine. Not all movies have to be the same, and I tend to prefer a good story than just mindless action.

Ben Affleck as Batman - who'd of thunk it? He's actually pretty much perfect in this role. It's true that this film is dark and gritty...
Though it may not be for little kids, it's certainly more themed for teens and more adult audiences which dare to venture away from the light fluffy hero's...

When you think of a superman, with all that power, or Batman with his brutish methods and gadgets in the past, you'll find yourselves wishing that they would go to more extremes with their powers/talents and this film will show you that....
This Batman is straight from the comics, he really is a dark knight who's just finding his purpose again...
This Superman has the potential, though he's not quite the boy scout that we've known Superman to be, I believe that he's getting there and these films are showing his journey to become a greater Superman
All in all....it was a great movie, though they would have had more success if they had a better and more clearer scenes for the Flash!!!!
-The Flash is now an established DC hero who has the backing/following from the hit TV show, they needed to use and exploit that to excite fans for his next appearance/major film - Much in the way they did for Wonder Woman, but just with a decent, eventful, and clear scene with the Flash!
I loved this film, every film has flaws, but it doesn't stop it from being great and a glimpse of whats to come!!!… Expand

I would give it a solid 8.5 for fans of the comics, and probably a 7.5 to the average viewer who may not catch or understand all the nods to the source material. The amount of hate that this movie has received is infuriating to me, because it is turning into another Watchmen, which remains my favorite superhero movie of all time. BVS, like Watchmen, will likely be considered to be a misunderstood masterpiece, a film that expects the audience to think, feel, and be willing to understand a complex and nuanced narrative, with well-executed philosophical underpinnings and symbolism. The movie is one of the most accurate comic book movies out there, and the way it is shot and delivered makes you feel as if an amazing graphic novel is being translated to film. For some, this may feel jumpy and disorienting, but if you have ever read a comic, you can clearly see how the style of shooting and transitions is so true to the look and feel of actual comics, which is an achievement; we should respect the talent of the amazing Zack Snyder. This is something that the Marvel movies have failed to achieve, and are not interested in doing, which is fine. Another big problem is that people are comparing the movie to Marvel films, and that is not what this movie is. Marvel films are action comedies, which almost completely lack any sense of gravitas or weight, but are very fun and entertaining, with just enough nods to the source material and great casting to make fans happy. However, BVS is not like those films, it is serious, it demands that you think, and it does not coddle you. It is like Watchmen in this way, but, unfortunately, critics and many supposed "fans" are still not ready for truly serious and meaningful superhero films, and prefer the easily accessible (and very predictable) Saturday Morning cartoon style of films that Marvel presents (as in the studio and not including the Fox films). Why can we not just enjoy both? Because, apparently, the cool thing to do is bash anything not Marvel and nitpick it to death, when you could actually just work out all of your supposed plotholes if you bothered to pay attention to the film. The casting was spot on, and Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and Jeremy Irons put on amazing performances as their respective characters, with returning stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and others continuing to put on stellar performances. Jesse Eisenburg's performance will divide many, but as a fan of the graphic novel, Superman: Red Son, I really enjoyed his character and thought that he did an excellent job. Ben Affleck is the absolute best live-action Batman we've seen, and Henry Cavill continues to perform admirably as Superman. For those who are not patient, and don't appreciate meaningful dialogue and a lack of one-liners, the first hour of the movie may bore you, because we actually get a good amount of character development and story that leads into the explosive latter half of the movie. Now, the movie is not perfect, and there are certainly parts of the film that leave some questions unanswered, but, we all should have known going in that this is a prologue movie, so there should be things for us to discover in the next movie. One part of the film that was maybe a little out of place was the apocalyptic dream-sequence, which only fans of the comics will truly understand and appreciate. The scene is not bad, but it's placement and delivery may be strange for some. So the film does have some issues, but, overall, it is a masterfully shot, well-acted, and well-thought out film, that respects a viewers intelligence and ability to comprehend complex themes. On another note, the final 45 minutes of the movie is absolutely amazing, and the interweaving plots develop naturally and flow well. Seeing the Trinity in action is an amazing sight, and will make DC fans giddy with delight. Also, and I won't spoil it, the final 20 minutes or so of the film had me on the verge of tears and the finale was truly amazing, but certainly not a "happy" ending. No Marvel film has been able to get me even close to feeling particularly sad about a character or event, which again shows how much more emotional weight DC is willing to invest in their films. Anyway, I've gone on long enough, but I urge people to see the film for themselves and to be open to a different kind of superhero film. The critics are being exceedingly harsh and the fanboys who want to hate on the film are out in droves, but to those who can ignore the hate, they will find an incredible film that truly is the Dawn of Justice.… Expand

We're there to see gods among men clashing to the death. No one gives a rat's arse about the story. We want to see Batman beating the crap out of Superman. I saw BvS the first Thursday night it came out. In short, I felt the movie had faults. I wasn't sure why, but it turns out it's because I wasn't able to follow the minor details of the story. Is that a fault itself for a movie? Well, no. Multiple viewings should reward viewers, and BvS is no exception.

I just left the theater from my 2nd viewing. I waited roughly 3 weeks to watch it a second time. Unbelievable, considering I had been anticipating this movie for years.

Words cannot truly express how beautiful this movie is. They really can't. As I type this I am still swiping tears from my eyes. There are so many layers and visual cues to something beyond film, beyond a screen, beyond a projector. And I'm not just talking about 1 or 2 parts of the movie. Scene after scene was rich with visual metaphor, character arc, and most of all, heart. You can really tell everyone put their best efforts into this movie. I applaud every single person involved.

Just as of for instance - the scene when Superman gets nuked, amidst tons of chaos, non stop action, and climactic battle, there is a moment of elegance and grace that is absolutely unparalleled in movies today. I'm talking about the part when after Doomsday crashes back down to Earth, and lets out a jolt of energy, causing an explosion on the abandoned island, it cuts back to space showing the explosion happening on Earth, and Superman, in an envelope of complete silence, Snyder paints a picture of him inadvertently pointing directly at the explosion from space. It beautifully captures the entire plight of Superman in such a way I could not believe how expressive, creative, and majestic a shot could exist in film.

And this is just one instance. There are many more. I absolutely implore everyone to watch this movie multiple times, in an intimate setting. The first night I saw the movie it was in a packed theater, adrenaline was pumping, and expectations were through the roof. This is not that type of movie. Tonight, I walked in right as the movie started, to a completely empty theater. It was one of the greatest personal decisions I have ever made. I'm so happy the way the movie turned out.

The action, acting, soundtrack, costumes, set design, script, visual effects - all of it are top notch. We are watching masters of craft at work. Snyder brings it all together so well that I sat at the end as the credits rolled with my mouth open. Absolutely amazing Zack Snyder. I appreciate your work, your art, and most of all this movie. 10/10, an absolute masterpiece, nothing has come or will ever come close to the magnitude of greatness this movie achieves.… Expand

People act, react, and sometimes redirect the entire course of their lives based on simple nuances. Man of Steel had wonderful references to Plato’s Republic. This film also had instances requiring the audience to think from a foreign point of view. That is necessary for one to truly understand the significance of events. Some people may not like this film. There are those who want things to be exactly like they were in the comics, and that is understandable. There are those who want things to be more light hearted, that is also very understandable. The movie is not perfect, and there are some who just may not like it. I have a deep concern for those who cannot comprehend it though. The proletariat, who don’t even know how deeper thinking works, will miss out on some even deeper meanings that are in the film. This film caused me to laugh, cry, and think. The acting was wonderful. I have very few complaints. It is the best film I have seen in years.… Expand

This movie accomplished so much and is extremely deep on so many levels. After watching it for the second time I cleared up some plot holes that I left the theater with previously. Also this movie completely puts Marvel to shame as it is sooo much more than nice looking action and comedy relief. There is a point to it and brings up questions in the audience of religion, corrupt power, and how exactly do superheroes fit into our world.… Expand

But i admit that it did feel rushed and the editing could have been done better, its clear that this movie had a lot more footage footage that could've have helped people understand the plot more without needing parts of it explained to them. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is really just a victim of its studios decision to make it 2hrs 30mins long.

Batman v superman is an excellent movie that might just be beyond its time it is filled with symbolism the makes up for the rushed feeling of the movie.… Expand

It was an absolute awesome blast of a superhero movie with it's action, a lot of good character development, which in some movies is very rare, some major dark scenes, which just told me that this is not for kids, it's for more mature kids, teens and adults, even a few sad moments as well. The one downside, though, is that is is 2h and 31m in runtime. Go see it now, it's one you should not miss out on, or you'll feel really ashamed that you missed it when you had the chance. Affleck best batman ever on screen.
WW the short time she was on screen she is perfect, cant wait for Wonder Woman movie.
Henry could have used more diaglogue but his acting game has stepped up alot!
Eisenberg is what people also dont understand, he is the son of Lex Luthor, only at the end of the movie the Lex we know is born. He has the knowledge of Darkseid coming and even in the movie he says "Books are knowledge and knowledge is power" Doomsday could have done better, felt like a meat shield but that is not a bad thing, just saying it could have been better.

This movie made me very excited for the upcoming DCEU (DC Extended Universe). And I cant wait for the directors cut in July.… Expand

This film easily stands appove most of the superhero movies we ve seen over the last 8 years, the comedy/action flicks have always bored me it didnt work for green lantern and i see franchises like the avengers to be no differnt. The scripts and narratives of such movies have lacked in any complexity and the heros have always come accross as comedians who cant take anything seriously even death, it is a releif to see DC taking their new cinimatic universe seriously with compelling narratives and deep emotional characters.

Im giving the film 10 although i think its more 8-9 just beacuse of the truly unfair bias critics who would rate this film 1 star and leave comments such as "not as fun as the avengers".

and to the ppl who say humor is how soldiers act in warzones or surgeons duing operations as i have heard a number of times i want to inform them that, that is not true. A soldier does not joke about while taking fire and having freinds killed around him or a surgeon doesnt think of the snappiest one liner while the patient is bleeding out infront of them, humor has a place in films and BVS showed that side of the heros once the main fight was concluded(spoilers) lulling the audience into a more lighthearted sense of mind then delivering the earth shattering DOS narrative, a plot point which i feel was used perfectly to represent the pivot point in sorcieties opinion of superman and gives a compelling reason to why ordinary ppl would accept a godlike being as their saviour.… Expand

Zack Snyder made great job.I really love the story and acting.Lex Luthor also was one of the best haracter in the movie and also I dont understant people that complain about him.He is different from what we have seen in the past but in good way.
Fight scene between Batmans vs Superman was great and emotional.Slow and not that epic,but thats why I love this scene.

I totally understand the criticisms and some of the negative backlash is to be expected when it comes to Dawn of Justice. There is not a lot of joy in this film or in the two main legendary superhero characters in Superman and Batman. There are some people that want Superman and Batman to be portrayed in certain ways.This movie treats it's main heroes seriously. Some would say too seriously. This film is great. The acting is superb, The visuals, dark but fitting and the score is tremendous. Both heroes are so compelling in this movie. Superman isn't at his highest point yet. He is still essentially a rookie superhero in this universe, struggling to accept himself and be accepted by others. Just like his father Jor El told him in Man of Steel. They will stumble and fall but one day they will join you in the sun.... Batman on the other hand is at his absolute lowest point. He's a 20 year vigilante who has become bitter and cruel. He's lost his way. "Criminals are like weeds, You pull one out and another grows in it's place". That line gives you an example of how far he has fallen. By movies end, Superman spiritually saves Batman. Batman admits that he failed in Superman in life but will not fail him in death.. To honor and redeem himself, He embarks on putting together, The Justice League. This is Batman and Superman at their darkest before their dawn.… Expand

I enjoyed this movie a lot. The beginning does start off a bit slow and the story is all over the place, however the action pieces in this movie is iconic. Seeing the trinity vs Doomsday was iconic. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is my favourite film, period. I never thought I'd say this about a mere comic-book adaptation. I already loved it when it hit theaters in March, always defended it and Mr. Snyder. Ultimate Cut only justifiedBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is my favourite film, period. I never thought I'd say this about a mere comic-book adaptation. I already loved it when it hit theaters in March, always defended it and Mr. Snyder. Ultimate Cut only justified (pun intended) my actions. I'll not go into details as why I loved it, talk about pros and cons - everything had been said already countless times before me.

I would like to say "Thank you" to the entire crew that was responsible for realising this flick and forwad my sincere and honest admiration of Mr. Zack Snyder's work to him. This is the director that knows his comics, loves them and does his absolute best to transform them onto a silver screen. I am 150 % on board with Justice League and all future DCEU entries. I just hope that JL will be receieved warmly and that it will end the absurd amount of bashing on Zack Snyder.

Lastly, I hope that he will remain the man in charge of the DCEU till the very end.

Secondly, this film IMO is best superhero movie made after the Dark Knight film by Christopher Nolan not because it has the an intricate storyline like the one Nolan created, but because it pushes the envelope of what a superhero movie can be. I for one am sick of watching what seems like endless one liner comedy superhero films that Kevin Feige and Marvel vomit out every summer and find BvS to be wind of refreshing air due to its darker tone, deeper take on characters and its overall adult orientation. With regards to themes, they are Judaeo-Christian themes sprinkled liberally across this film and a unique take on a kind of "Friedrich Nietzsche atheism" in the character of Lex Luthor. Overall, the film was absolutely amazing. If you hated the theatrical version, don't hesitate to watch the ultimate cut because it is far superior and fills up the so called plotholes "critics" lamented.… Expand

I highly recommend without a doubt to purchase the Ultimate Edition as it does everything you want from a movie.
