If you're a fan of Bethesda games and know what to expect, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. If this your first Bethesda game, you should pick it up easily enough and have an average experience. If you're a salty vindictive PlayStation fan or one of those people who are political (left or right) for attention, you're guaranteed to be pissed off about miniscule first world problems you cherry pick from the game.

Gameplay is deep for core Bethesda fans, but shallow for casual players. Your actions and commitment shape your experience from the character menu to the end, whether for good or bad.

Graphical detail and performance is impressive with the exception of some NPCs. One of the major standouts is Neon City, with tonnes of light sources producing a vibrant and dense image that makes me worry that my Xbox is gonna explode. A stick in the mud is Akila city, which can dip into the teens on Series S.

The music is mid with the exception of the main theme.

    The Adoring Fan returns.

Based Todd moments beyond this point.

Bugs are frequent if you know how to break the game, but mostly aren't game breaking as falling out of enemy ships won't kill you if you use the booster pack correctly. There are occasional crashes during loading screens but autosaves will usually keep your progress well in check and occasionally are avoided by being anti semitic when the loading screen stutters (only worked 2/3 times, but haha Meat Loaf reference and every other kind of insult like racist, homophobic and transphobic statements won't work).

The games draws a line between transtrenders (transitioning for attention) and transgenders (transitioning for actual dysphoria) evidenced by NPCs misgendering you if your pronouns don't match your body type. NPCs of the former camp are generally frowned upon and NPCs of the latter camp are treated as normal people and occasionally also from upon the former camp.

The customisation is well beyond previous Bethesda games, even allowing you to build a ship in the shape of a Swastika, male genitalia, CUBE, yellow mini and more. Same goes for outposts.

    Russian mommy gf.

While the player customisation is more free than most Bethesda games, you sadly cannot make failed abortions like in Oblivion.

As usual it's a Bethesda game, seamless exploration, diverse side quests. I'll start first addressing combat, it's a miles step up compared to their previous games (switching to FPS and TPS) and I like the new mech where you can use the gravity while you're in combat which is most of the time effective, Sidequest, mostly hit or miss, but those that stands out are the factions and I love the Crimson Fleet and the Freestar Collective so far I enjoy progressing the quest, other gameplay mech that stands out are Ship Building (which will take you hours just to set up what design you like), level up system/skills system (which you'll need to unlock a certain level of skill by doing some think like "kill 5 enemies using a Rifle - in order to unlock the LvL 2 skill of that category and spending skill points to acquire the ability", Outpost Building another gameplay that will consume your time and it's worth especially if you want to gather resources on using them by designing you space suit, modifying your weapons or anything related that required certain resource and also you can build your base the way you want to.

Cons, mainly playing on XSS, performance is rough, 30 FPS, with some notable bugs such as clipping, unable to use any workstation, (which all can be fixed by saving and loading), and most notable terrible AI, graphics aren't visually attractive if you're into graphics, but most notable and annoying in my experience is multiple crashing on XSS in my one playthrough like 8 hours straight and had in 8 crashes which is horrible experience.

Overall Starfield is a good game but some Cons are definitely worth mentioning. Regardless, it's a very addicting game and I'm having fun playing the game in spite of experiencing game crashes.

Pros: -Environments are just ok, but the stories and quests that take place in them are engaging and well written. -The RPG elements are the best of any BGS title to date, where it actually feels like you are making an individual, unique character with a unique skill set that determines how you handle situations. -The ship builder is excellent, and probably one of the most well balanced parts of the game. There are all sorts of modules to install and even some with unique abilities like shielding your cargo to allow for successful smuggling. -The base building is good, but aside from role playing or farming materials and selling components, I'm not sure why I need bases. Still, if you like building bases there is a decent selection here, but it isn't well explained.

-The visuals are out of this world, and if you like taking screenshots this game is made for you. It honestly feels like they spent the most time making this aspect perfect with real time lighting, orbits, fog, reflections, it all looks great, as long as you aren't in one of the major cities. -The performance is consistent on a Series X, not too many bugs and such.

Cons: -The performance. (I know I just said it was a pro, hear me out) I would have preferred to have this game delayed until we got 60 fps on consoles. It is harder to visually track movement at 30, and it brings the game down a bit, even if it is consistently locked at 30. A game like this shouldn't release at 30 fps, period. -The major cities are kind of boring, except for Neon. The textures in the cities are inferior to the textures on the planets and everything feels a bit dull. It seriously almost looks like a different game when you're in the major cities, including the NPCs who for some reason look like ps3 era character models. The only saving grace is the majority of your time is spent outside of the cities, but yeah they don't look great. -The story is a tough one, I am pretty mixed on it. It has mystery and interesting plot points, but the faction stories and side quests majorly overshadow the main story so you enjoy it less knowing you could be doing better content for that random side character you met. -Exploration could be better. I'm not talking about loading into the planet surface, that's fine and people complaining about that are ridiculous. Instead, I mean after you land on a planet, there are a few POI's to check out in the distance, but you have to walk to them, and it takes forever. You can use a jetpack but it doesn't really speed you up much. And to make matters worse, there isn't much reason to explore. You will find cool, hand crafted locations with enemies to fight, absolutely. But it's pretty rare to find anything useful or any special content when randomly exploring. The POI's are just set pieces with basic loot, maybe some legendary gear on harder difficulties if you're lucky. You are better off sticking to quests and organically exploring occasionally, rather than setting aside hours walking around planets. Overall, I recommend it if you like games like Fallout 4 and Skyrim, and I do not recommend it if you only want action. There is a good amount of RPGing here, and it takes some patience.

It skillfully blends a compelling narrative with finely honed dialogues, pulling players into its cosmic embrace. However, it also has a learning curve and some quirks that might dampen the experience.

    **Story and Quests:**

Starfield's narrative is a celestial gem that grips players right from the start. Its dialogues and story are finely crafted and captivating. The soundtrack adds a cosmic symphony, setting the perfect tone for your interstellar adventures.

    **Pros:**

    - **Initial Attraction:** Starfield immerses you deeply in its captivating universe from the start.
    - **Graphical Brilliance:** Starfield's visuals have evolved, reminiscent of the transformation from Oblivion to Skyrim. It retains Bethesda's signature charm, making every moment enchanting.
    - **Scenic Marvel:** Picture being on a world tour of awe-inspiring planets, each one more breathtaking and distinct than the last.
    - **Craft Your Ship:** The ability to customize your spacecraft adds a layer of ownership as you traverse the cosmos.

    **Cons:**

    - **Enemy Monotony:** Combat can sometimes devolve into repetitive exchanges against a limited cast of foes, diminishing the thrill of encounters.
    - **Weapon Woes:** The game's arsenal could use more variety, and combat strategies might benefit from some innovation to keep the excitement alive.
    - **Loading Overdrive:** The frequent loading screens can feel like cosmic speed bumps, occasionally interrupting the fluidity of your journey.
    - **Wonky Hitboxes:** Hitbox issues can leave you scratching your space helmet during combat, even with weapon specialization.
    - **Inventory Woes:** Managing your space gear can become a chore due to the lack of search, filter, and sorting options, leading to a cluttered experience.
    - **Boss Battle Void:** Expectations of epic boss battles might not always align with the cosmic arena, sometimes leaving these encounters feeling less remarkable.
    - **Exploration Loop:** While planets offer diverse biomes, your cosmic journey can sometimes seem like a loop of walking, cave exploration, base visits, and battling the same cosmic critters repeatedly.

In summary, Starfield is a stellar odyssey filled with wonders and hidden stories that sometimes shine brighter than the main narrative. However, amidst the cosmic splendor, a touch of monotony and a few quirks remind us that even in the vastness of space, there's room for improvement.

Cutscenes are a big one because they happen all the time in the game where in 2023 this shouldn’t have to be a thing anymore. There are a few other nitpicks that I can add but overall the game is what you make it out to be.

Cons- not much loot variation specifically weapons, space exploration is not as you would think, cutscenes

Up to try any genre of games and sometimes I find something new that I didn't think I'd like. I own a PC (built by me), Xbox, PlayStation and a Switch. I prefer PlayStation due to their focus on narrative games. For scoring, I’ll be using the GameInformer review scale and of course influenced by my personal opinions.

    (8) Very Good. Innovative, but perhaps not the right choice for everyone. This score indicates that there are many good things to be had, but arguably so.

Upon writing , I have 50 hours of play time on Steam and 15 hours on Xbox. During my first 20 hours of playing, I was not a happy camper. I was getting annoyed with the constant loading screens, and the constant walking on worlds that had repeated content in the procedurally generated worlds. For example I kept on seeing the same cave, mine, animals, plants, and/or, outpost setup that these knew planets I was visiting didn't seem very different from each other. I ended up not letting myself go to random planets and started to only follow the main mission and side missions and I started liking the game a lot more and wanted to keep going. The handcrafted parts of the game was a breath of fresh air to me and turned my initial worry about the game around. I enjoy the space flight but wish we could travel to other planets manually, I get not being able to enter planets without a cutscene but I was expecting to be able to fly in space more than just specific areas. You pretty much have to fast travel everywhere and it ruins the journey for me. Of course, I wouldn't want to manually go everywhere all the time but here and there I would. I haven't ran into any major bugs and the miner ones I did run into would just be enemies glitching into the ground slightly and the characters not looking at you in conversation. Basically, I'm enjoying the story and side stories but besides how many planets there are, the outpost building, and ship building, this game is on par with the Mass Effect Series and most of those games were from two generations ago that accomplished most of the same things. I don't think this game is a masterpiece but it's worth the time to play.

Anyways, so we've landed at a very realistic 8 out of 10. (I'd give an 8.5) if possible. (On the series X)

I don't regret my purchase. I do wish things were slightly different though!

The game has a lot going for it as far providing a space adventure, the problem is, you have to dig through the "cluster cluck of menu's" and it's not a simple "tab over" page... It's this "Convoluted system" anytime you go to check out some critical bit of information. To me I feel like I'm fighting with the menus UI, at inconvenient times. Which makes matters worse.

You also have to level up a bunch of stuff, just to have fun, messing around with ship designs.. & well that takes the fun out of things to be honest.. I can understand maybe engine upgrades, weapon upgrades, but to have to level up just to tinker with ship layout & design? That's a stale experience quick.

You can't easily check out your location on a map, with 1 press of the "Select button".. (The button with 2 boxes on it on xbox controller)

The local maps, on planets suck.

Like I've spent so much time running around New atlantis lost (Compass/local maps again lacking).. It's not realistically designed.. It needs to be a "Space port".. as in I land & all the businesses, etc, that I'd deal with, need to be RIGHT THERE... Must have been a gov. sponsored civil engineer on the design team? that was like "lets spread everything out in a way that causes the player misery"...?

The reason I say this, is just b/c SPACE is ALREADY HUGE.. Its fun at times, boring at others. Traveling that is.

It's MORE ANNOYING than fun or even remotely realistic...

It's cool to have atmosphere.. but if shops/businesses/Cities were tidy & tucked in, I believe it would give a "comforting" vibe instead of.. the joy of loading screens? (that's satire on the loading screen bit) (Like for example, I really like the Mars city of cydonia in a way, from a design layout point of view but I have to travel too far to get to shops where I need stuff)

Speaking of which, it feels like there's too many loading screens?

Anyways, like I said, the game has a lot of cool stuff going on, weapon wise, gameplay wise possibilities. I really wanted a better method of traversal over land instead of just the "jet pack".. even upgrading it max. I still have to walk like 1000's of kilometers just to check out an empty stupid cave.. or some other weird landmark that doesn't reward me..

Basically a lot of cool possibilities exist, or potentially exist & Bethesda got in the way of the player having a really awesome time. To start out.. the experience is this HORRID slow burn... and its like.. Will I get wore out/burnt out from trying to earn experience to level up the stats I need, to have fun?

What will break first, my attention span or the experience?

It seems like there was a lot of dedication put into this game and all the decisions you can make. It has some seriously stunning visuals and the attention to detail is amazing. I've also been able to find and figure out multiple easter eggs which is always amazing. The only downsides to this game are that, even though I have amassed several hundreds of hours on fps games, even one with similar mechanics to Starfield, the game is shockingly difficult. With enemies even sometimes being able to see through walls and have absolutely perfect aim, especially when engaging in space combat. Also, the whole thing of having to return to an area to be able to unlock something as you level up is a good mechanic in open world games with smaller maps and areas, but Starfield is not one of these. The need to level up your lock picking level mastery or whatever it's called to unlock gear and get better items gets a bit tiring, especially when you are in need of items like med packs and can see it but not get to it. I think it would be a good feature for areas you would be returning to, but not ones where you would explore and then leave to move on with the story. I feel like sometimes. I know that these features are things that some people really do enjoy, and I can agree with that a bit, there is a sense of satisfaction when you come back and finally get that gear, but it gets in the way and can make some unnecessarily difficult areas and missions all the more obnoxious. The AI and the placement of the enemies is a bit lazy and not at all strategic. Also, there seems to be incredibly difficult enemies mixed in with ones that are not, so you can't explore an area or collect loot without having to worry about getting mown down by some beast with a legendary ar. For instance, there have been some areas where there's like 20 enemies on the top level of that area, and then none on the bottom. This leads to you not having enough ammo to finish off the enemies and leaves you sprinting around in enemies line of fire just to be able to fight. Overall, these missteps don't end up making all too bad of a downgrade to the game, but can make it feel a bit rushed at times. All I want is for the progression in missions (meaning difficulty of enemies) to be even and the placement of enemies to be thought out.

In the end, the game is a pleasant surprise from bethesda, putting out a game that is stable enough to run properly, not to mention that it's rather satisfying to play, and incredibly nice to explore.

But this is an RPG, and a Bethesda one at that, so you have to expect certain compromises and design choices. Bethesda is consistent. Is some of this outdated? Yep! Not gonna sugar coat it as i'm not obligated to do that. There are some weird choices, and quality of life features that are missing from an RPG released in 2023. But at its core is still a rock solid first person RPG with a very detailed game world that is huge, and provides a lot of player choice and freedom. If you're looking for a space sim, look else where, there are plenty of options (No Man's Sky, and Elite Dangerous are the best ones), but if you're looking for an open world sci-fi RPG, you can't do much better than this, except maybe Cyberpunk 2077, and the Outer Worlds. I would rather listen to nails on a chalk board than this poor excuse for a narrative. The story is so cliche and boring that I often forget to do the main missions and just go do something else. When I play a bethesda game I expect a good story with interesting characters. Starfield is the exact opposite of that. To top off my experience the game ran pretty bad. I had a couple 3 minute loading screens that I have to restart my whole console. Then in one day the game decides to kick me off 3 times in a single day. Thank god for quick save or I would be so mad. The fps drop is very noticeable as well. All in all this is a fun sandbox game that is plagued by a boring story, uninspiring characters, and a sad excuse for performance on console. 83/100 respectfully. Expand

The reason I can’t give 10/10 is because you don’t FEEL powerful. Blasting someone with a laser beam should turn them into dust. Instead, all weapons on Starfield are just different ways of deactivating an NPC.

I still have way more to do, and a lot of the negative reviews are not based on the game. The game is worth a £10/$10 one month game pass subscription.

The same old Bethesda with its pluses and minuses, standing out in what it knows how to do well. Bringing a great story. It's time for them to take more risks, compared to some modern titles. The visual section is great and its performance acceptable. A soundtrack that accompanies perfection.

And I know people say it gets better after 12+ hour or after bearing the game the game truly starts but that's crazy, a game needs to get its claws in me from the start and pull me back in over and over again and makes want to come back. Unfortunately starfield isn't that and I hate to say this because I had high hopes

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What can I say about Starfield it's the best Dam! Bethesda Game I ever played. Disclaimer I haven't completed it yet but 100+ hours in I think I can safely say that I know the game. Exploration: I know everyone has been up and down on Starfield because it's not your typical Bethesda exploration but I have enjoyed it so much to see and explore even if you think you seen it all a ship lands or you come across a new facility to plunder. Story : yeah it good does it blow me away like some games have no but I feel it's got more staying power and more legs than Fallout 4. It's a Bethesda game I have always said if the story was so compelling then you wouldn't want to go off the beat and path and explore.
Combat: I have enjoyed the combat it's not as smooth as some games but it's definitely fun for this type of game. Now let's address everything that people complain about :
Loading screens yes it has them does it ruin your experience only if you let it. None seamless transition from planet to space, you really have to be nit picking if you can take a cut scene or Loading screen. Invisible walls I have explored hundreds of planets so far and on a few I have just walked and you really don't notice them invisible walls it's literally 40 minutes of walking boosting ect...to even it them and I have done it once on purpose so no need to worry you probably won't run in to them.
This is where the spoiler comes in the game is slow to begin with and takes you completing a few main story missions to get you powers for the game to open up a little, make this could be a draw back for some people especially if you have like a few hours to try and get into it, but my advice stick with it you will thank me later. Bugs and glitches not seen much on series X or S it's stable had a few texture and sound issues but nothing a reload couldn't fix after 100+ hours nothing game breaking nothing that could detract from the game. I give Starfield a 8 because overall it's great experience my GOTY but little things hold it back from a 9/10 it's definitely a great game that if you like Bethesda or Sci-fi games you should definitely check out.

Ship combat feels good and gets better the more you upgrade your ship to handle maneuverability base on fighter style gameplay but you can adjust your ship around your play style (bounty hunter/transporter and so on). A major component to this is readjusting power to the different systems such as shields weapons and gravity drive during dog fights.

On planet gameplay feels good here too. Gun combat is satisfying and different feel of gravity on planets/moons is a nice touch. This gives you more verticality in gun fights as you can jump higher due to some environments having low gravity and booster feel to make you feel like Boba Fett.
Graphics to me look good including character models. Voice dialogue is convincing and really good and character models compliment them pretty well for the most part. Game runs smooth on the Series X.

My biggest drawback is the travel between planets within a same star system and when you’re in orbit traveling to the planet/moon where they are broken apart by loading screen. I would’ve loved to see what Starlink Battle for Atlas or No Man Sky implementation in regards to travel and its seamless feel between planets/moons.

Game still has some minor bugs but nothing that broke immersion and experience so far. I highly recommend this and if it wasn’t for the space travel issues I addressed earlier, this would’ve been a 9/10 but docked it down to 8/10 cause traveling is a big part of gameplay and this was a miss that baffled me.

    Good RPG experience.
If BETHESDA decides to improve it and reduces the loading screens, adds more different enemies, and is able to add new animations and fix bugs the game can be a solid 10/10, for me is an 8/10 good game,

If you're searching for a non-stop, action-packed sci-fi RPG like Mass Effect, I have bad news—Starfield isn't even close to the pacing of ME2. You'd be better off looking elsewhere. However, if you're tired of relentless action and want to immerse yourself in a more realistically "dull" space exploration experience—complete with resource grinding, outpost management, item crafting, and occasional shooter elements—then this game is for you.

As of now, Starfield is the only game from Bethesda that has kept me engaged for more than 20 hours. So, if you're not looking for an epic "chosen-to-save-the-galaxy" sci-fi adventure, but something that grabs your attention in a different way, Starfield is definitely worth a try.

Despite the major blunder of Fallout 76's launch, Starfield has proved that Bethesda is most certainly capable of creating engaging gameplay loops, wonderful stories and side quests, and interesting worlds that will hold your interest for dozens, if not hundreds, of hours.

Something that stuck out to me when I started the game was the graphical fidelity and overall look and feel of the game. There is heavy usage of procedural generation in the terrain and planets which means there will often be textures that look murky or washed out--but the handcrafted content is such high quality visually that I almost forget I'm playing a Bethesda game. With hundreds of hours split across Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Fallout 4, I've become very used to the antiquated Creation Engine in all its visual soupiness and technical fragility. But Creation Engine 2 is a frankly astonishing step up for Bethesda's engine. When rumors first appeared of a revamped engine, I was skeptical as these games have always had a certain jank to them. But CE 2 is a true improvement that brings much-needed modernization to the Bethesda formula. You can climb ladders now! This may be the new addition I'm most excited to see return in future BGS games. Clamboring, boost-pack jumping, and the gravity system all also feel excellent to play around with. The physics of this game are also a blast, especially in Zero-G areas, and have become some of the most unique moments I've had in a BGS game almost instantly.

But enough with the engine--the artistic core of the game largely works for me. As a huge fan of sci-fi, real world space exploration, and the mystery and intrigue that comes along with the thought of humanity exploring the vastness of space made me primed to like this game. It's clear the amount of passion and love poured into Starfield and everything new it brings to the table, even if some parts don't quite stick the landing. Something that does, however, is the music. Bombastic, intriguing, or mysterious, it manages to evoke themes of Elder Scrolls and Fallout, while still feeling distinct and "spacey". Some of the writing was a bit corny for my taste, but some of it was very enjoyable (this is true for character writing such as dialogue, but also narrative writing & plot, as well as questlines). A couple of the gameplay systems can end up feeling cumbersome later in the game, and dauntingly large early game, but if you're willing to commit to them, such as operating, building or upgrading your ship; diving into crafting weapon and suit mods; or the intensive network of resource mining, so you can craft resources to further build mods, or sell for credits, etc. There is a mountain of content and interwoven systems that seem too large to handle, but will get easier as you stick with them.

The gunplay may be the most noticeably improved system in the game, to the point where it nearly doesn't seem like a BGS title. If Fallout 4 was an RPG first with a so-so FPS haphazardly glued to it, then Starfield is an FPS first with excellent RPG systems masterfully infused. The guns feel, play, shoot and sound so tacitly. They look visually unique, cover a wide range of styles and damage types, and even at 55+ hours into the game are far and away one of the most satisfying components of the core gameplay loop.

The main story may or may not be for everyone; if you like screwing around with BGS's design choices and just living in their worlds and have only loosely engaged with their narratives, then you will more than likely enjoy your time with Starfield no matter what. But if the "big questions" about why humans exist, what our purpose is, and are there other intelligent species out there don't captivate your mind--then you likely won't find the main story all that compelling, even compared to Bethesda's other games. But if these questions pique your curiosity, then the main questline will hold your attention long enough to see what it all builds to.

Starfield is nothing revolutionary, but it was never proclaimed it would be. And if you were expecting No Man's Sky or Star Citizen, then you'll be disappointed--because that's not what this game attempts to do. It's a space RPG, not a space sim.

Currently 16 hours into the game and its one of the best games I have played this year, done 9 missions but the majority of my time is looking around planets exploring them and taking in the breath taking visuals. the 30 fps isn't as hard to adjust to as I mostly play on PC at 240hz but you soon get used to it without it feeling off or annoying. once I have done the game I will update the review

Overall it's good once you figure out how to play it. No real tutorial. And yes there are alot of bugs and glitches contrary to early access reviews. Npc's during conversations are looking the wrong way. Same bugs from Skyrim with NPC's floating, Falling from the sky, getting stuck in walls, inanimate objects flipping around and flying across the room. The story telling is great.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. With Bethesda's big drop you're going see a lot of BS 0-3s so let me tell you what to expect. Did you like Skyrim and/Or Fallout? Because if you did you'll love this. It's a Bethesda RPG. The planets do feel large but some feel empty, (Earth is literally just a giant desert.) The Space fighting is Ok but repetitive, and the Story is good. The combat is where the game truly starts to shine IMHO Whether you're taking on Space Raiders, or the Dreaded Terrormorph the combat is insanely fun on ground. Each level brings with it a certain amount of strategy, what worked previously may not work later. As with every Bethesda Title, Lore is plenty in this game. From an entire Museum dedicated to The Wars and loss of earth, To the countless Data Pads and books containing information on what happened in a certain location, or Big event, there's no loss on lore fans. A few things I've seen people complain about: Loading Screens: Do y'all realize how big this game is? Having a completely open world is going to make your game run like crap. Besides which I haven't had one longer than 10 seconds yet. No space Exploration: While I agree with you, I feel this does feel like a necessary evil. I can't imagine the frame loss as a massive planet rolls in.

IT'S WOKE REEEEEE: GROW. A. PAIR. PRONOUNS!!!!!!!!!: Show me where the pronouns hurt you...

It's not on PlayStation!: Yeah well Spider-Man isn't on Xbox, but you don't see me giving THAT a 0 do you?

It Runs like crap!: No. It doesn't. It only has 30FPS!: Yup and it runs fine.

Moving to graphics and design, Amazing. Yes there's some cookie-cutter designs, but that's nothing new in Bethesda IPs. (How many times have we seen the same reused assets in Draugr tombs or Falmer Dens?) The creature design is awesome. So far my favorite that I've seen is the Terrormorph, which seems to be this game's Dragon or Deathclaw. And the planets look awesome day or night. I've yet to encounter any typical Bethesda bugs, or texture loss, let alone frame loss. So is it the biggest Revolution in gaming? No. Is it fun? Hell yeah.

The game is not perfect. It has flaws. I do not claim it is a 10/10,but the game has many redeeming qualities, and a vast universe of content to get sucked into if you're actually willing to invest the time sink. For a game that features so much procedural generation, the graphics are honestly good. It's not gonna blow anyone away, but is much better looking then many claim. First. The graphic quality and its design. I have tried other games with the same theme or similar and in those game i looked the sky and saw a lot of planets in the atmosphere, and their were in a fine perspective, a light blue tonality that made them part of sky. But the first time that i looked the Starfield sky i saw a poor quality in the silhouette of the planets.

It's a visually stunning game, although there are times when it feels like a title from 2015 and others when it feels more like 2023.

However, the main issues I have with this game are the excessive loading screens, which disrupt the immersion and make it feel less organic. Additionally, the NPCs on different planets can look rather odd and devoid of emotions at times, which is disappointing. In my opinion, Starfield could greatly benefit from a patch to address these issues, along with an FPS boost. While 30 FPS is decent, for a game like this, especially on the powerful new consoles (I'm playing on Series S, by the way), a higher FPS would enhance the experience

I'm a gamer. I play everything I have access to. If I give praise to a game, it's because credit is due and I appreciate effort. Starfield is a fairly polished, ambitious vision that's been created with obvious passion, love and care. Maps are huge.  Characters are fairly interesting not to mention attractive lol. Ship building and combat is fun. Visuals are pretty good. Some nice quality of life additions as well. While there seems to be a lack of natural capture animations from IRL people during the dialogue scenes, the characters are very expressive and the lip syncing to the dialogue is chefs kiss perfect. I found myself being oddly satisfied and mesmerized by this. So strange... However, I will admit I'm only about 20 hours in, as I'm trying not to get game fatigue and lose myself to rushing through the rest of the game. Ship building is what you would expect. It's thorough yet not overly complex as to lose you in too much micromanagment. While the world's sometimes can have repetition in their procedural generation, it's not that big of a deal. There are plenty of things to discover and stumble upon in exploration and questing. All that being said, this game does need a big fat patch to tighten up some things. If that happened and the base game had been released with some more mature and adult related themes towards violence and personal engagement, this game would be an easy 10/10. So for me now as is, 8.2/10. Don't listen to the negative reviews. It's in retaliation for this game being an Xbox and PC exclusive. Expand

Many worlds are boring ? How can you you expect every single world to be fantastic? If you like immersion wouldn’t be normal some worlds be vast and some don’t ? That’s why the game compels you to explore , because that’s the life of any explorer , sometimes you find something great , sometimes you don’t , that’s life .

The loadings . Yes it would be great not to have them , but that we most think of what hardware would be capable fondling that . It’s just not possible . The game as a sistem to simulate that ( the so called loading screen) in order do have some things you don’t have others I agree with the animations , especially the facial animations , they could , and I hope they still will put some more work on that .

The game is massive , and they don’t assist you properly , by the time you understand , you already invest too many hours, they should help people on that regard because it’s not simple.

The caracter don’t have voice and that is annoying, they say it’s because it’s more immerse , but personally i don’t think so.

All and all it’s a great game , the story it’s great , the graphic’s amazing , and like any Bethesda game it as a a large margin to evolve over the time , and you can expect that .

However, my biggest drawbacks are the lack of clarity and lack of tutorials in order to give the player a chance to figure out what to do. Also, they really need to do a better job of mapping locations. Like I wanna know where certain vendors are in certain worlds, and I don't just wanna blindly look around until I stumble upon them. Like in GTA V they have a map key that shows you where to go buy weapons, where to change outfits, etc. And if they had the in this game, I would give it a perfect 10. But do far, I'm loving the missions, the variety of things to do and see, and all that stuff. But I really feel like the game is unfinished and they could update it... Expand

If you like Bethesda games, you're probably going to like this one. It's disappointing with space and loading screens. Exploration is decent if you get a good planet. The main quest isn't anything special; it's boring at the beginning, but it gets better after like 10 hours, which it shouldn't take that long. I don't know about side quests; I haven't played many of them. Combat is decentIf you like Bethesda games, you're probably going to like this one. It's disappointing with space and loading screens. Overall, gameplay is good. At least I liked it, maybe because I enjoyed previous Bethesda games. Though the 30fps does hurt your eyes at first, if you're used to playing everything in 60 or even 120, these 30fps somehow feel smooth. You won't really notice after some time. It's a good game, definitely not a 10/10, maybe after mods. Expand

I've been eagerly awaiting this game for over a year now, and it certainly delivers. That all said, I deducted 2 points because I happen to agree that the pronouns issue was a stupid decision. Why would you chance offending 20-30% of your fan base to appease the fragile narcissistic egos of a fringe 1-2%. That's just not good business. Not to mention that this move helps to endorse an equally fringe ideology that will likely go the way of the hippy in years to come. The game will outlast the pronouns.

If you want some free advice, Bethesda, remove the silly pronouns feature at your next possible update. We want to live in the future with this game, not the present. We want immersion, not a mirror.

Its a relatively good game. Definitely a 8/10.
But it needs work from Bethesda. Bethesda stop focusing on monetization and dlc, and update the game with a FREE UPDATE. Increasing performance and addressing issues many players have. What can I say, I loved Skyrim (played it twice) I loved Fallout 4, didn't even finish it. I have an affinity to Bethesda's choose-your-own adventure, with a bit of a clunky grind on top of it.

Throw in some exploring, some crafting, mining, collecting, fighting, zapping, pursuading... I'm hooked. Sure, it's not next gen, it's a mechanic that's been around for getting onto 20 years -

I know Bethesda releases always get a lot of love and hate. It's essentially a better-looking (in my opinion), story-focused No Man's Sky. But like 2023 NMS not release year NMS lol. I've been having a blast. Yes there are glitches/bugs and I have heard it does not do well on anything that isn't a super high-end PC but I'm on Xbox SX so *shrug emoji*. Yes there are glitches/bugs and I have heard it does not do well on anything that isn't a super high-end PC but I'm on Xbox SX so *shrug emoji*. I will address some of the bad things/things I don't like first: I really like the ability to fly in low orbit/a few hundred feet off the ground in NMS and I would have liked to see that in Starfield, to some degree or another. It seems like there aren't a *crazy* amount of guns to choose from, I would have liked more options, though it's not like there are none. There seems to be a stark difference between systems w/ cool stuff going on in them and ones that have nothing going on. I realize this is probably more "realistic" but you really feel the boring bland systems when you compare them to the fun systems. Travel on the ground is kind of tedious. And then there are the varying glitches/bugs, clipping, dialogue bugs, outpost issues. They're annoying but not game breaking.

Now for the good! Game looks better than I expected. The individual items are all really well rendered and detailed. Very nice. Ship customization is mostly awesome and you can do some cool stuff with it. It seems like there is A LOT to do. I went off to some system for a main side mission and got distracted by a lil side-side mission X'D. I spent the next 2 hours helping out some settlers get rid of some spacers. It was dope. The game seems to be full of that, the Bethesda dope questlines and side quests seem to be here in full force and I'm here for it. The voice acting, to me, is pretty good. Idk man, I love space games for the most part. If I had played another 100 hours maybe my review would be worse or better, who knows. All I know is I'm having a lot of fun and I look forward to playing more and idk does the game merit you paying 70 bucks? If you like bethesda games, I think it's worth it. If you're wondering if you should and you're new to Besthesda, maybe wait for a sale. If you don't like bethesda games, i don't think you'll like this.

I enjoyed the game very much. I actually didn't have any bugs. Or at least I didn't notice them.
The story is okay, but could be more exciting, especially at the beginning.

The immersion is destroyed by short loading screens, which NoManSky (for example) does better.

On the other hand, I find the gun play very pleasant and fun.
Overall I had fun and this is the most important (for me)

I expected much more, Starfield is very slow and boring, the game has a big but empty world, the gunplay is very good, technically it is 30 frames is disappointing, after 25 years they produced a new game which was disappointing

Although the game is very buggy and most of its worlds look very empty, its gameplay manages to be quite addictive; There will always be a new city to discover, an enemy base to attack, a side quest or a cave to explore, making you spend hundreds of hours exploring your planets.

The game had a atmosphere to be lonely and lost, like de emptiness of space, i like this vibe, but also, i think the industry want to make more and more largest worlds, experiences, so they let it blind the real task, the funny.
It's a great game, great history and not so great fun.

It's a big game, but starts way too slowly, and may never get interesting.

It is true that you'll find a good number of barren wastelands with little to do other than extracting some resources and take off to more interesting places, but again it really depends on how you want to play. There's so much to do, so many systems and abilities to explore, missions to complete, spaceships to loot, and species to catalogue, that I honestly don't think there's anybody who thinks that exploring every square meter of this universe is the better way to enjoy Starfield.

While it has weak spots and doesn’t push many boundaries, Starfield is still an excellent RPG experience. Bethesda has once again mastered the things it built its reputation on – world building, quest design, and deep customization. However, it’s found new things to excel at too, with exciting combat and a novel implementation of New Game Plus.
