Starfield is an RPG that brings the best out of previous Bethesda games with the best sci-fi narrative about space ever created. With elements inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey and Interstellar, a game about space has never been this grand and with such satisfying exploration until now. The team led by Todd Howard can be proud of the fantastic work they've put out.

Also, despite not being able to fully walk around a planet I have never hit a world border. I enjoy the ship building a lot and I have dabbled in outpost building too which isn't normally my cup of tea but making a cool base with your own ship builder is still neat. Overall I love the game and can't wait for mod support and dlc. Expand

Also, as ES4 Oblivion being my favorite ES, I really enjoy some of the Oblivion elements they brought back for this game. It's a great game. Nice story, It's not comparable as Fallout 76. Has some mechanics from Bethesda RPGs and has a good story. I can explore planets and the load screens are fast.
I used to play Frontier Elite, from 90's and Starfield have much more fun. I can play as a pirate, an universe explorer or follow the missions. There are some bugs, but nothing annoying.

In this game, you can set up a colony, customize ships, modify weapons and armor, create items and collect resources, among other possibilities. Surprisingly, 30 fps isn't a problem, and gameplay even feels smoother than expected.

The reason for generating this confusion with "Starfield" is that it is a Microsoft game, not a Sony one, which generates anger in the Sony media and the Poyneis.

From the moment I created my character and chose my background and traits, I felt like I was living in a vast and vibrant galaxy full of wonders and dangers. The game offers a staggering amount of customization options, from the appearance and skills of my character, to the design and functionality of my spaceship, to the weapons and gadgets I can craft and use.

The game world is simply breathtaking, with over 1000 planets to explore, each with its own unique atmosphere, culture, flora, fauna, and secrets. The game does an amazing job of balancing realism and fantasy, creating a believable and consistent universe that draws inspiration from both science and fiction. The game also features a dynamic weather system, day-night cycle, and realistic physics that affect the gameplay and the environment.

The story of Starfield is captivating and engaging, with branching paths and multiple endings that depend on my choices and actions. The game puts me in the role of a member of Constellation, the last group of space explorers seeking rare artifacts throughout the galaxy. Along the way, I encounter various factions, characters, and quests that challenge me morally, intellectually, and emotionally. The game does not shy away from tackling complex themes such as humanity's place in the cosmos, the ethics of colonization, the nature of artificial intelligence, and the consequences of war.

The gameplay of Starfield is smooth and satisfying, with a seamless transition between first-person and third-person perspective. The game offers a variety of gameplay styles, from stealth and hacking, to diplomacy and trading, to combat and exploration. The game also features a robust skill system that allows me to specialize in different fields and unlock new abilities. The combat is thrilling and tactical, with a wide range of weapons and gadgets that can be modified and upgraded. The game also supports different modes of travel, from walking and driving, to flying and teleporting.

The graphics and sound of Starfield are stunning and immersive, with a high level of detail and realism. The game uses the new Creation Engine 2, which delivers stunning visuals, realistic lighting and shadows, dynamic reflections, volumetric clouds, ray tracing, and more. The game also features a rich and varied soundtrack composed by Inon Zur, who also composed the music for Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. The game also features excellent voice acting from a talented cast of actors.

Starfield is not only the best game of 2023, but also one of the best games ever made. It is a monumental achievement in gaming history that sets a new standard for the genre. It is a game that deserves to be played by everyone who loves science fiction, role-playing, or simply great games. Starfield is a game that will stay with me for a long time, as I continue to explore its infinite possibilities. Starfield is not just a game, it is an experience. For those who give 0 or 4 stars cus you can't fly through the atmosphere... thx god you are not a game developer.

Your wanna fly down to the surface? It'd be a boring trip! Would you wanna spend money on something majority don't care, and won't even try?
One or 2 youtubers might try it, but I'll bet, he/she will never do it again. It's life wasting.

Would you prefer to fly 20 hours (20 years?, 20 light years?) from planet A to planet B (meantime, it's just a boring flight)?
Or would you prefer, like in a movie, take off, cut, entering a planet, cut, landed, cut, shows that you've "traveled"?

On a planet, you wanna go to A, but you are at the opposite side of the location. You sure you wanna fly there? Have your even been to overseas? You know how freaking tiring it is to fly 10+hours right?

    I'd prefer "load".

Perhaps the most fun things for me are the combat and the ship-building & outpost-building - I don't know why, but I dig those aspects of this game more than previous Bethesda games. Usually, the shooting mechanics are pretty janky but this game finally offers a more streamlined and somewhat smooth combat experience. It's not something as smooth/fluid as a competitive shooter like COD or Apex but it's a step up from the typical Bethesda game.

At first, I didn't know if I was going to get into Starfield and put any time into it. Now I'm about 20+ hours in and have no plans to slow down. I think I've put more time into other missions than the main mission. It's great to run into complex engagements that have some ripple effects downstream. I know, Fallout had some of these same cornerstones but this just seems to be much stronger overall.

My only gripes are that on the Series X you only 30 FPS. It's not a big deal and I understand that Starfield is THAT BIG and it's tough to render everything and get above 30 FPS even with a console as powerful as the SX but I still wish it could be that much smoother and locked at 60 FPS. I hope there's a way to unlock that down the line - unlikely, but it would be cool if they could. The second gripe is that you can't really travel from one planet to the next or enter a planet atmosphere without fast traveling. I was hoping that, like No Man's Sky, you'd be able to experience that entry to a planet and then use the landing automation or something. Again, not a dealbreaker just a missed opportunity. I think people would have enjoyed taking their ships into atmosphere and guiding themselves toward a landing pad.

It's a great game - one that validates my ownership of Game Pass and allows me to actually enjoy what I pay on a 6-month cadence because I'm finally getting something that makes me want to sit down for hours and play.

Anyway this game is a typical Bethesda game. There are a bit of jank and can do with more optimisation. But the gameplay is fun, and the Bethesda RPG elements are all present and it is a game that I can engage in for hours and enjoy it.

Should there be more bug fix? Definitely. Should there be more optimisation? Yes. Will Mods make the game better and allow players to play in the game they want? O man, will they ever.

So for now it is a solid 8/10. And once the mod is fully out and the game is further optimised and bug fixed, it should be a solid 9/10.

And for those who think (or pretend to think) that this is a space sim instead of a space cowboy RPG (if you argue that this is RPG lite I will grant you the point), you really need to go rinse your ear and learn to read and listen.

The random encounters with insurance salesmen, the Breaking bad and Batman references (including a kinda fake bat cave) Halo Reach, Aliens, nerdy collector...

I haven't even started ship building, or much outpost building. I liken it to the best vacation you might have had...
Not the best room ever, but good.
Not all the meals were the best, but some stood out.
Some attractions might have been not what you expected, or lived up to, some did.

BUT you might have had the best vacation ever, filled with so much fun!

This game might be worth a 10 to me later, as it stands... a 9 with a possible :)

There are side quest you can do for them, but you will never really feel sympathy for them. Developing relationships doesn't feel organic. Partially due to the not so great facial animation, partially due to some choices the devs made. I had a companion suddenly wanting to get married, wow, take it easy. Stopped using that companion. So far, no noteworthy bugs except two crashes. Quite remarkable considering the scope of the game. Anyway, I can recommend this Expand

-Best storytelling of any Bethesda game to date by a pretty big margin. The faction storylines are all fantastic from what I have played of them so far, companions are far more fleshed out than past Bethesda games, particularly the Sam relationship and romance (which involves his daughter and some drama involving his ex/mother of his daughter)

-Improved gunplay over past Bethesda games like Fallout 4

-Excellent space combat, very tactical with the power level management and subsystem targeting

-Huge amount of content, at 50 hours in I have barely touched the main storyline or faction storylines because there are so many sidequests to do (several in every named settlement pretty much), my first playthrough will easily hit 150 hours, maybe even 200+

-Gorgeous landscapes and skyboxes on many planets/moons

-Lots of options to build out you character due to how many skills and traits and backgrounds there are, as well as an improved character creator

-This is Bethesda's most polished game on launch, at 50 hours I have only encountered a handful of bugs

    The Not So Good
-Leveling feels too slow, as most quests reward a paltry 100-200 XP (with levels starting at 1000 XP or so and scaling upwards with more XP required each level, 479,000 XP needed to get the achievement for reaching level 100.

-No ability to respec your skills, which is a shame

-Creation Engine 2.0 still has alot of the jankiness of the original version of the Engine, with things like occasional 0 fps hitches, lock-ups during saving or time advances, companion pathing issues, dead faces and stilted walking animations on random NPC's you pass on the street, lackluster facial animations during conversations, and plasticky looking characters due to a lack of subsurface scattering on skin.

    - Most people that actually gave Starfield a chance and played it for a good amount of time love it.
If you check Steam you’ll see most reviews are positive. These are people that actually played the game.
    - Starfield much like past Bethesda games, MMOs, survival games, starts slow. As you explore the universe you start to find things that really show why Bethesda is so good at creating open world RPGs. But you won’t realize it if you just play the game for a couple of hours.
    - Understand what you are getting into. This is a game where you can find quests everywhere.
With several major quest lines that cover different sci-fi flavors. From Firefly, to Cyberpunk style places, to Interstellar. You can build your own spaceships. Fully mod your armor, weapons. Have multiple bases.
You will find places in space where you will be exploring in Zero G. You will be surprised by some of the events that randomly occur. Despite not being a space sim focused game, you will be surprised by some of the events that will happen to you as you fly around and space combat is indeed challenging and fun. It is not a full space sim but it is enough to give you that feeling.
The “dungeons” vary from caves, industrial complexes, Doom style sci-fi bases as well as star bases and otherë”places” I will not disclose to avoid spoilers. They are diverse and fun to explore. Combat is challenging and fun and as you unlock more skills and get better weapons it becomes more and more entertaining.

Not everything is perfect but the game is stable, mostly bug free.
Is it a perfect game? No. But it does give you the feeling that you are exploring different worlds. Finding interesting things. The huge amount of quests and interesting places to visit really immerse you as you progress. The world building elements such as creating your own ship, bases and so on give you that minecraft/survival game experience. But unlike those other games, this one is filled with NPCs to talk with, quests, immersive environments and of course… space.

It's not a space sim, it's an RPG, and a dang good one at that. The perks you choose matter and open up opportunities, there are multiple ways to complete quests, and an incredible amount of character customization and roleplay potential. For those of us who enjoy role-playing our games, very few studios make the sort of games that scratch that "itch." The outer worlds came close, but was too small in scope. Kingdom Come Deliverance was also amazing, but unfortunately you have a fixed character you have to play as. A lot of us prefer to make our own character, and for those of us that do, there's no better option than Bethesda. I'd love if another studio stepped up to the plate and tried to make the same kind of game, but they just don't and won't. So until that day comes, Bethesda makes the best experiences for us roleplay nerds.

The only criticism i have against the game is with performance on PC. Fortunately I play on XBOX where the experience is well optimized, but I've heard it's not the same with PC players unfortunately. Performance aside, it's a 10/10 for me. Massive, deep, repayable, and will keep us RPG fans busy for years to come.

    - PC version lacks basic accessibility features, such as an FOV slider, DLSS, etc.
    - You will occasionally encounter identical proc. gen dungeons if you explore enough planets.
    - Enemy NPC's are still lacking in terms of programming.
    - The game starts a little slow but given that it's a brand-new IP/universe, I'm fine with this.
    - There are more loading screens than there should be.

Having said all of that, this game's setting captures you and there are plenty of possibilities gameplay-wise to keep you occupied for hours. Character creation has improved significantly, additions such as traits and backgrounds go a long way in making your character feel unique and grounded in the setting (my character had parents, a house with a mortgage, and a background as a space trucker in the UC, for example).

The game is technically sound when compared to Bethesda's previous efforts, I only encountered three "bugs" in my forty-ish hours of gameplay. The writing has seen a notable step up in quality since Fallout 4. Dialogue options are expanded and the game's persuasion mini-game is well done, I wish other RPG's had a similar system. I also greatly appreciate Starfield's new and improved lockpicking mini-game. Gunplay in this game is also a considerable step up when compared to their previous titles, though the melee combat seems a bit drab in contrast. Starfield also features a solid weapon customization system and an even better ship customization system. You truly get to be who you want to be in this game's universe.

The game's scope is impressive, even if the end result has more loading screens than you'd like. The random encounters both in space and on land are often quite intriguing. Some were complaining about the planetary boundaries on the worlds after you land, but even though I've scanned and surveyed dozens of planets and moons, I've never bumped into these barriers (it's a non issue, in other words). The environments are varied, the fluctuations in gravity and weather make for fun gameplay, and the game's settlement building system can turn any of these worlds into your own homebase.

The sidequests are as eclectic and wacky as ever, the game's companions and crew members are great, and Starfield's soundtrack and world design holds up to the rest of Bethesda's back catalogue. It may not be the future of gaming, but we don't live in the future, and I personally believe that Starfield's positives far outweigh its negatives. It is a good Bethesda game, and that statement alone puts it on the same level as games like Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout 4. If you enjoyed any of those games and are down for a sci-fi adventure, you will have a blast in Starfield. It's every bit as good as any of their previous titles. I'd personally give it an 8.5 out of 10, but I'm rounding up instead of down since it seems there's a lot of bad-faith review bombing going on here.

I haven’t done much with outposts yet (I was NOT a fan of settlements in Fallout 4), but I will put some time into them eventually. There’s so much to do and explore! My only complaints are fairly trivial in my opinion. It’s not as open world as I would like and there are a lot of loading screens. The facilities are often the same on things like bounty jobs which makes them feel repetitive. I also wish there was more to do with the random junk in the world (like deconstructing in Fallout 4) and I would love the option to have pets (at least a dog or cat to keep in my ship or at my house). So I've played starfield already for quite alot of hours my playthrough is on very hard which at times can be challenging but not imossible and I first want to mention I've never ever really liked any space games prior to this so getting invested in a game like starfield was always a risk for me.

I actually really like this game though its got alot to the game and the game as a whole feels gigantic something I've always wanted from a game was longevity and not to complete a game in under 2 hours and feel like £60 is down the drain and I'm not forced to rush through the game unlike some of the actual reviewers who probably just did the main story missions and based their reviews off of that.

This game seems very familiar to fallout and I've not really played fallout as much as some people but I think what Bethesda does with games is very unique and should be appreciated more.

I like the shooting mechanics in this game for some reason to me it feels better than fallouts shooting mechanics minus not having vats in this game which was very unique to fallout I just felt off with the mechanics in fallout for some reason it felt really sluggish in that game.

The ship building is probably one of the most interesting things I've seen in a game and I've not done much of it but from what I can see it looks very advanced and there's certainly gonna be alot of great ship designs out there.

I love the exploration in this game you can always find something new no matter where you're it seems and the idea of doing research on planets to give you an idea where certain resources are for all the planets is very well thought out and wow its gonna take a very long time time to search for everything.

People moan about frame rate in this game yet here's me playing on my series x having a blast, once your eyes get used to the fps it becomes an afterthought like it doesn't exist plus single player games don't necessarily need to be 60fps or above that in my opinion should be for multiplayer games that demands those kinds of frames to make multiplayer consistent.

My biggest concerns with this game is the map navigation/design it feels really just hard work at times just to figure out certain things and the local map is pretty embarrassing aswell honestly. Bethesda should probably consider adding a different section of all the planets you've discovered from A-Z so it makes it alot easier to revisit those planets.

Also a few times enemies have glitched through walls trying to shoot me though the wall its quite funny at first buy probably something that should be fixed.

If you liked any of the fallout games then I'd most likely say you'd like this game too, for me I didn't really have any expectations for this game considering like I said previously I could never get into space games but from what I've played I know I'm still gonna be on this game for alot longer than I thought I think it's a great game minus the few glitches that do happen and the graphics are good aswell.

As someone who has never been deeply invested in a Bethesda RPG in the past, I was slightly skeptical about whether I would enjoy Starfield upon release. I purchased my copy, and have only played about 14 hours of the game, still having not completed the main story, and I love the game.

Starfield can feel empty at times, however I found the environments enjoyable to discover. The graphics can at times be off putting, but more often than not they look stellar. Same deal with characters, some rough but most are good. The writing keeps me coming back. I love walking around and my companion suddenly asks "you got a minute," and we begin talking about things that happened in previous quests, or the characters past.

The gameplay is nothing spectacular, but is still enjoyable. Its fun to shoot and kill enemies. The AI can be a bit funky at times, and many weapons are just the same model with different stats. I found myself encumbered for a while not knowing why, but once I found out it was because I was carrying too much I was a little upset. Character customization is very in depth, letting you change things like facial structure, pronouns, walking animations, perks, and starting skills. One of my perks lets me visit my characters parents and they'll sometimes give me gifts. Finding them in the world is also enjoyable.

Ship customization is fun. Base building is ok, I haven't spent much times in that part of the game. Space combat is very clunky to me, but I can see the appeal. Everything in the game is good, but the game doesn't have land vehicles which makes exploration a very slow endeavor. I have to walk very long distances at times, so a rover would be nice. The abundance of loading screens is also an issue. At first they didn't bother me, but as I continues they seemed to go from 1 second to 3, then 5. I'm patient, but when I have to load my ship, space, traveling into another system, and the planet it can get tiresome.

Despite the flaws, Starfield has been an enjoyable time from when I started, to when I last played. I really don't understand all the hate the game gets. Its really good. I give Starfield an 8/10, but I've given it a 9 to help boost the score a little bit. This game doesn't deserve the low rating it currently has. It feels like many reviewers haven't even played the game, but hey I could be wrong, they are entitled to their own opinion. Thanks for reading my review.

    See you in the Starfield

I'm going to start working for one of the factions and build my first settlement to start my piracy empire! The only real negatives I have about the game is that at times it can feel a little dated but the fun level sorta covers that up. I haven't experienced that many glitches and they were minor things like a dead body twitching or a body just dropping through the floor. Most of them are just funny and don't bother me at all. I have had a few crashes but that's typical in a new game, I'm sure it'll get a patch soon. Expand

The graphics are solid, but not pretty, especially the lousy filters and color palette, but they're easy to fix. The inventory is virtually non-existent. You can explore space or simply look directly at the few assets that are generated, so you no longer need to explore the 1000 planets. The AI is somewhere between non-existent and stupid. The game can be big if you throw less money into marketing and more money into content. As usual, the game wasn't finished when it was released. Currently the game is a disgrace, a disappointment and not a milestone. If these are supposed to be Triple A titles, the gaming industry is a more dishonest industry than the food industry. What the game lacks is attention to detail, the power to enchant the player and content to make space exploration an experience worth playing. What can you say? Bethesda has thus arrived in the same ranks as EA and Ubisoft. The tools (spaceship) were promised to explore but space has not yet been integrated into the game. If you can't, leave out the thousand planets. Play an honest game and no one will be disappointed. The marketing lies are currently making the game unbearable. If you still have a shred of honor in you, you will get a boost of at least 100 buildings like the asset database and these in different types, so that the stupid NPCs are sometimes somewhere else. Don't let modders do your work, you asked for money for it, you were the one who leaned out of the window for years that this game would be epochal. This game is not finished. If you want to see what it looks like, with luck you can see in a year, with 1000 mods for each planet. This isn't a game, it's a tech demo Expand

Die Hauptstory ist Bethesda typisch nichts tolles, aber die ganzen neben Missionen sind sehr liebevoll und spannend gestaltet. Man kann also sehr viel Zeit damit verbringen.

This game was a 7/8 in the beginning but a solid 9.5 afterwards. GOTY contender for sure!

As someone who has played all of Bethesda's games, I can confidently say that Starfield is easily their second best title of all time. The level of detail that Bethesda Game Studios has put into this game is truly impressive. While it is not a perfect game and still has some flaws typical of a BGS title, I must commend them for significantly reducing the number of bugs in this release. As someone who has played all of Bethesda's games, I can confidently say that Starfield is easily their second best title of all time. One aspect that I found slightly disappointing was the lack of land vehicles and the subpar inventory system. However, overall, Starfield is a great game that will surely appeal to fans of both the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series.

I played the game on both XBOX and PC, which is made very easy due to the shared cloud saves.

It's a really good game and the spaceflight controls work well on the XBOX. I just wish it had vehicles in it.

It is true that you'll find a good number of barren wastelands with little to do other than extracting some resources and take off to more interesting places, but again it really depends on how you want to play. There's so much to do, so many systems and abilities to explore, missions to complete, spaceships to loot, and species to catalogue, that I honestly don't think there's anybody who thinks that exploring every square meter of this universe is the better way to enjoy Starfield.

While it has weak spots and doesn’t push many boundaries, Starfield is still an excellent RPG experience. Bethesda has once again mastered the things it built its reputation on – world building, quest design, and deep customization. However, it’s found new things to excel at too, with exciting combat and a novel implementation of New Game Plus.
