Halo 3 ODST: great campaign, best firefight but multiplayer disc was Halo 3 multiplayer with 4 new non-special maps
.Halo Reach amazing campaign, best forge but multiplayer was a bit unbalanced but still amazing and firefight was good but not as interesting as in ODST and the worst maps in a Halo game ever
. Halo 4: Best looking Halo yet, amazing multiplayer great but not a very griping campaign as other Halos, forge is really good and Spartan ops is a nice and really good new feature. But however the one Halo witch I got hooked on for 5 to 6 years of life and never, ever got bored of it is Halo 3. The first Halo I ever played and I fell in love with the games world almost as soon as I played it. Campaign is awesome been my third favorite campaign out of all the Halos with the ledendary ending been one of my favorite moments of gaming of all time. Multiplayer in Halo 3 is my favorite Halo(I know Halo 2s' multiplayer is supposed to be the best but we hav opinions) multiplayer by far, too bad its nowhere near as popular as it was the 3 years it was king of Xbox multiplayer. Forge may not be as good as Halo: Reach and Halo 4, Halo 3 has really good forge still and has the best map of any Halo game (this including the map packs). Thierter will always be the best in Halo 3. Halo 3 is my favorite Halo game of all time and alos one of my favorite games of all time. Halo 3 9.8/10

However, I did expect a LOT, and I still had a great time playing through it. The visuals, music, and gameplay were far above par for this time, and there were many easter eggs and achievements to go back to and try to accomplish. Where Halo 3 really shined though, was the multiplayer. I played this for years, and still to date have yet to play a game so fun and addicting. Every match online played differently, with different dynamics. Additions such as the Elephants on Sandbox changed the formula like never before. Forge. Oh forge. This was the innovation that made custom games with my friends more fun than ever before. There was not limit to the amazing maps to be found and played. With all the custom game options, there was always something new to try. The classic wide variety of weapons in Halo Games really sets it above other FPS's for me. There are always different strategies, different weapons are useful in different situations, and there was just so much fun and joy in killing my foes in so many creative ways. What a game. I'll give it a 9 because the single player wasn't quite as enjoyable as I had hoped :) Expand

Amazing first-person action and an excellent narrative, Halo 3 is an excellent game. There are several frustrating parts in the game that came of as time killers rather than proper missions.

This game is very good, although people will say leading shots is stupid it just takes some time to get use to. After people got use to it they started to enjoy the game more and overall I gave this game a 9 because the maps were excellent, and the weapons were very well balanced. The only flaw is that sometimes online, your shots will not register if the connection is bad.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Halo 3 is phenomenal game. Why you ask, because it was the first game that really got my attention when buying an Xbox 360. I made the right choice too. I've played all the Halos(Except Halo Wars) and this one was the game that made me love the Xbox. Bungie is known for mostly its popular Halo series of course. But nothing the less the game is fantastic and all Xbox 360 should buy this game. After the events of Halo 2, both Prophet of Regret and Mercy are dead and Truth is on his way to the Ark(A forerunner like construct of the Halo rings) with his Covenant armada. Cheif who is following Truth to Earth because of a Forerunner construct in New Mombasa. Arbiter is on your side and so is the rest of the UNSC platoon. Cheif must stop Truth and the firing of the Halos and find Cortana who is with the Gravemind(a.k.a. Flood leader) while also dealing with the Flood and Covenant and finishing them of to. Their are new vehicles, weapons, characters, enemies and so much more. The multiplayer and custom games is fun and easy for all. Forging maps in Forge with your friends is also amazing. The Story of Halo is amazing unique and makes you wonder what all the remaining questions about the universe and foreunners and much more. The fate of the Universe really depends on Cheif, so does the money that comes out of your wallet torward this game is worth it.If you haven't played Halo then do so,you will not regret it, I promise you. Halo; Combat Evolved or Halo 2 are often considered the best halo games. Other than that, Halo 3 is pretty much superior in all ways. You can't argue that the multiplayer for the first two were better than Halo 3's multiplayer. Balancing issues aside, Halo 3 has NUMEROUS multiplayer options like forge, custom game options, more weapons and customization, and most importantly, online multiplayer. While The first two may have had online multiplayer on the PC version, Halo 3 was more superior and more successful than both. Now, on the side or story, the story of the first two (Referring to opinion) could very well be much superior in terms of everything, but the story can't be the way you compare the two, since single-player wasn't exactly Halo 3's goal. While they put more effort into the story than, say Call of Duty, they weren't aiming for a story-game, but more of a multiplayer game.
The main reason that people preferred Halo 1 or 2 over 3 is mostly due to nostalgia, which isn't something you should let review your games for you. You have to review the game for how good it is, not nostalgia or memories. And when you look at Halo 3 in that perspective, it is definitely better than the first two.

This is a guideline for how to properly review games. Many reviewers like to get a “feel” for a game, and arbitrarily give a game a score that they believe it deserves. This results in wildly different scores between different reviewers, and vastly different scores between similar games. This guideline addresses these problems and scores games fairly and consistently. This guideline also gives scores that are usually similar to the metacritic score.

The review score is based out of 10 points. There are no “half” or 0.5 increments. It is impossible to have a score above 10 or below 0. The review score will change as the game gets new dlc, drops in price, or if more secrets are found through the game increasing its appeal.

The scoring is split into 6 sections. The first five sections can add a possible 2 points to the final score. The first 5 sections are Single Player/Multi Player, Gameplay, Visuals/Story, Accessibility/Longevity, and Pricing.

Notice that 3 of these sections have two parts. These particular sections will be scored based on the stronger part of the game of the two. For example, if a game has a lousy single player campaign, but an excellent multiplayer component, that section will be based solely on the multiplayer as if the single player did not exist. This allows games to be based on their own merits, as many unnecessary features are shoehorned into video games by publishers to reach a “feature quota”. Games that excel in both areas of a section don’t receive should be noted in the written review, but cannot increase the score past 2 in that section. However, it can be taken into account in the final section

The final section can add 1, add 0, or subtract 1 to the final score. This final section is the “wildcard” section. This section is for how the reviewer “feels” about the game, but limits this only to this section, rather than the entire 10 point review. This section can include any positive or negative point that was not covered in the previous 5 sections.

Awesome game, kept me at the edge of my seat, introduced new game changing forge mode, and once again reinforced Xbox superiority over PC and PlayStation. The reason it's not a 10/10 for me is because it wasn't as big a leap forward from halo 2, as halo 2 was from halo 1. Still a leap forward though!

Vehicles stay a main part of the game and that's awesome. And, with the inclusion of new weapons, the games remains always fresh. Dual-wielding is also available, though there's been some changes (e.g you cannot wield 2 Needlers).

The only con that I can think of is that each of the so called "missions" is a collection of missions in itself separated by a cutscene. So, if you play short sessions, you'll most likely lose a bit of your context regarding your objective (and the story) because you might just end up running from checkpoint A to B.

The campaign is as solid and interesting as previous entries in the series, and the relationship between the Master Chief, Cortana and others will keep you immersed in what you are playing.

The uniqueness in the multiplayer however, really brings Halo 3 to another level. Its 'highest skill' ranking system allows players to always be playing other gamers of the same level as themselves, therefore never getting drawn away from the game because of other players being more advanced than them. It still provides motivation to get that high skill all the way up to 50 however, to really show who's boss. Custom maps are another highlight of this excellent FPS, and I personally had most fun on these custom games with friends. Downloaded from Bungie.net, the custom games are a true draw towards Halo 3, as if it didn't have enough draws already.

All in all, if you haven't played Halo 3, what exactly have you been doing?

Also, that's just the story mode. We still haven't gotten into the multiplayer part. And honestly I can't believe it, but somehow this game STILL surpasses multiplayer features in today's games. And NO micro transactions! Features like custom game maps, and various other things. Truly this game is legendary. Expand

The story while a great conclusion to the old trilogy, feels rushed and doesn't take advantage of the hardware's graphical and video capability. Halo 3 comes close to perfection but maybe it ended the franchise, as we knew it, a little to soon.

The game visually still holds up pretty well for a over 14 year old game. The story managed to conclude a trilogy in a satisfying way and fulfilling way, But if I had to criticize Halo 3 I'm not a fan of the prophets voice change nor his change in character as he feels more like a one dimensional bad guy in this one. And the fact there's no arbiter levels is a shame as it felt like he didn't really have much to do in this game. I would of liked him to playa bigger role in the game and I would of liked to see more characterization in the elites a s a whole such as the shipmaster. While I'm talking about Elites the switch to brutes as the main enemy I'm not a big fan of. They are fun to fight nut not as fun I feel and the elites in this game you just don't see enough of them and there kinda more doofy in this game then previous titles. Other then that the campaign is a great time non the less. And on a final note the multiplayer in Halo 3 is some of the best in he series and I cant count the many hours spent playing in my life. The final installment in the Halo Saga was quite a big game when it was released, i'm not joking but even my mom was excited for this game after i graduated from college i introduced her to the halo franchise.
But how does halo 3 end the trilogy? The multiplayer was the best when halo 3 got released and today is a classic multiplayer experience but i'm here for the campaign. I have a very little problem with halo 3 before i get into the REAL stuff and that's the voice acting, characters Truth and Miranda voice actors were changed between Halo 2 and 3 and that is a bit annoying while playing through the campaign. But Halo 3 was a near perfect end for the trilogy, mh only problem with the campaign is that it could have used more build up and challenge, thr game felt a bit short compared to the first two games but Halo 3 is the true masterpiece that everyone hoped for and deserved the "finish the fight" slogan.

It looks like Bungie was overly ambitious, and in order to achieve playable framerates had to scale up the LOD reduction until anything 10 feet away from the player is a jaggy mess with overly blurred textures. Many objects look fantastic if you stick your nose on them, but when you back away a few paces they turn into shimmery piles of crap. It's especially obvious when you get into Covenant structures and find that their familiar architecture looked better on the Xbox 1 because of Halo 3's aliasing and texture filtering problems. It's tragic, too, because the art direction is fantastic. The game would look amazing if it was presented without all the artifacts. That aside, if you're a Halo fan, this is classic stuff. The weapons feel great, the vehicles are fun to drive, fire fights are a blast, etc. The sound design is fantastic (try firing the assault rifle into nearby water, it sounds awesome) and the music is the best of the series. I enjoyed the story more than I did in Halo 1 or 2, though the writing is often cheesy, and some stuff that is played for emotional impact falls flat (like the Deep Thoughts by Cortana that keep popping up on your HUD). Multiplayer kicks ass, and Bungie has obviously invested a LOT of time and effort here. The matchmaking system is super slick, and the amount of options you have for creating your own game types is amazing for a console game (though, unless they ship a real level editor, it's going to be trumped by Unreal when it allows users to upload their own maps). Probably the biggest addition, which is technically amazing, is the addition of the Theater. Every game you play is recorded to disk and can be played back, frame by frame. It's too sweet being able to go back and relive your greatest multiplayer moments, or see what the winning team did, not to mention what all the machinima guys like Red vs Blue are going to do with this. Overall a great game. I wish they had presented the game with less artifacts (even if it required simplifying the graphics), but I still enjoyed the ride. Expand

Ok so with that out of the way maybe you like what they call oldcore fps. The other problem i have is the AI of the humans, not the aliens just the humans. There are times where you have to drive bc the AI simply cant, they'll get the vechile stuck or simply take forever. The other problem is that ill take time to sneak up on a tank, and their is no way i was spotted and out of no where they turn 180 degrees and start shooting me, Radar? i dont know there are my other teammates in front of the tank. On the other hand if you have any teammate aliens on your team they hold there own and you'll be thankful come to reload time that they are there.
So the pros, great looking game with some very cool moments and of coarse not that it needs to be mention but great multiplayer.
I love halo 3 but not the best game of all time, personalty im getting a little tired of the oldcore fps, taking cover or being killed after 5 shots is way more realistic and serves for greater game play.

(Human faces still look very awkward.) A great storyline that wraps up the games well, and leaves more questions for Halo players and Halo canon fans alike. A somewhat tactical experience where weapons must be used in context, and guns blazing just won't cut it. Good replayability, as the enemy AI is fairly adept at finding flanking positions and firing points, so not only will each encounter play out differently, but the skulls discoverable in the campaign award an exponential increase in points, and for those hardcore enough, each has its own game-altering effect, making play much more difficult. And the multiplay is danged-near perfect. It's fun, there's huge variety (game-types are customizable down to the letter, and the Forge takes a varied experience and turns it into an incredibly fun sandbox), the matchmaking is addictive as one ranks up, and the Xbox Live service is implemented near-flawlessly. Oh, achievements in the campaign will let you unlock some pretty nifty armor permutations, which can be customized further with emblems and every other color needed to live. A solid experience, and yes, one that will make a great PC port when the time comes (unlike the awkward Halo 2). Oh, did I mention this game is fun? Expand

I have to admit that after getting Halo 2 I said I would never go along with the hype again, since it really let me down. It turned out to be nothing like I had expected. But several years later I let it get the best of me again. However, for whatever reason, I was not even remotely disappointed with this one. I expected there to be little alteration to the multiplayer. I was right, but I have to admit that after getting Halo 2 I said I would never go along with the hype again, since it really let me down. I expected there to be little alteration to the multiplayer. I was right, but everything that was changed, fixed 90% of the problems that I had with the multiplayer of the second. Then I got into the single player. At first, I was captivated. I was looking at the Chief in new shiny clothes and everything felt fresh. I played for a few hours and found, as expected, that the experience got a bit monotonous, but advancing the wrap-up to the story made the trip well worth it. I don't know how everyone else feels, but in my opinion that was a great finalization to the trilogy. And that ending was brilliant, I feel that while they finished off the saga, they could easily pick it back up again with a sequel or a prequel, whatever they feel would work. I feel like I am still playing H2 however. I know it's different, and I know that it handles a bit differently, but ultimately I was left with the feeling that I was playing H2 but with updates giving me new items. This may be a bit critical of me seeing as they are part of the same series and a totally different scheme would be outrageous, but maybe I was just expecting some of the things that I was hoping for from H2 that I never got. My other complaint would be that there is little to no character development here. I wanted to know more about Master Chief, and Sergeant Johnson, and learn more about Gravemind and the forerunners. Yet the only character I found any more depth into was Cortana. I know Bungie fully endorses the books as official pieces to the mythos. But this is Halo a game, not a series of books. I shouldn't have to read a book to know about the characters and the story behind this conflict. It should unfold throughout the game. And maybe that is what they hope to do with Halo Wars, and whatever new Halo games they plan to bring out. Expand

  1. It's the addition of the Forge level editor and the saved films that give the game an even longer set of legs, legs that will probably keep you running at full speed until Bungie figures out where, exactly, to go from here.
  2. Halo 3 is the best Xbox 360 game to date. The single-player campaign and storyline are both very strong, but it's Forge and the Saved Films features that will likely go down in history as Bungie's crowning achievements. They've basically taken everything great about the series and improved upon it in every way, then added some amazing new features that we'll be using for years to come.
  3. 100
