An incredible conclusion to a masterful trilogy, a multiplayer that is still incredibly addictive, forge and custom games shaping the community and building futher on that fun, and a really nice way of sharing those creations too.     The opening is amazing and the story and gameplay is really good plus the graphics hold up to this day and it was one of the last times I discovered hope in Halo

    Great top off to the greatest FPS of all time. Seriously the only FPS that are better than this is Halo 2 and Half Life 2. Halo 3 is too iconic to not play it.

    Halo 3 is a true successor to both of its predecessors, being everything that fans hoped it would be. The campaign is Awesome...we finished the fight...a Great ending for this trilogy!

    Lembro de quando eu chegava em casa, exausto da escola porém despreocupado, ligava meu Xbox e esse sempre era a primeira opção de jogo que me vinha em mente, Halo 3 é o jogo que me fez amar os videogames, o jogo que me fez amar e apreciar Halo...     The masterful follow up to the masterpiece that is Halo 2. This game is also flawless. The story incredibly and satisfying. The missions are endlessly fun. The level design and set pieces are fantastic. The game play is so good. The graphics were just amazing. The end of this game is one of the best endings of a game/trilogy ever. For a while, I thought the Halo 2 campaign was my favourite in the franchise, Halo 3 leaves me torn between picking the two but both are awesome. The cutscenes, the story all really make for it. For 2007, the graphics really do shine what the Xbox 360 is capable of. I can see the hype for it back in 2007 and see why still to this day, Halo 3 is regarded as one of the best Halo games and a favourite among the fanbase. For 3 years running (2007-09), Halo 3 was the most popular and consistently played games on Xbox 360, with the player base always being in the tenth's of thousands worldwide. Another feature was introduced in Halo 3, Forge, a mode where you can mess around with maps and customise them to your liking. There really isn't a lack of content in this game. Completed the campaign? Try your luck on legendary or look for the hidden skulls that give you a new campaign experience when you play it. Work your way up in the rankings of multiplayer (which as of January 2022 has sadly shut down, so I haven't been able to experience it). Play co-op campaign with your friend.

    Halo 3 really is an important game. A historical landmark that shows how much games meant to the developers who made them, especially Bungie. When developers truly dedicate time and passion and love for what they create, they create an amazing game like this. Halo 3 really had a close relationship with the fanbase and the developer, Bungie were seen like heroes. It saddens me to see a game like this from 2007, compared to corporate cash grabs that get pushed out every year, half-completed with the rest of the game being update over time through live service or DLC's for £15+, going back to a game like Halo 3 is important to remind us how gaming was back then. Making games out of the passion of being a game developer and pleasing the fanbase whilst at the same time, being successful in doing so, rather than feeding the masses with mediocre and standard generic first person shooters, with no sense of reward that doesn't require whipping out your wallet to feel like you have unlocked something cool.

    Sadly even Halo has fallen into this pool with Halo Infinite, going back to the older games makes me really wish I could go back and relive these games in their prime, truly taking that time for granted. Didn't really know how good we had it back then. With this being said, I can't deny giving this game the first 10/10. There's a reason why Halo 3 is still being held to this high standard and communities such as Halo 3 Sunrise have pushed to reviving this game by hosting lobbies even after they've been shut, and that is the love this game has accumulated from developers who loved making games and were eager to show their passion projects, with money being a second thought.    … Expand

    Second best story I've ever play (rdr2 is better) but still very good and the best is the multi-player with the second best I've ever seen (overwatch is better) and the best protagonist in gaming for me and overall a amazing experience.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Halo Franchise so far was already really really good. With CE starting the series and Halo 2 continuing it after CE. Unfortunately, a lot of the game had to be cut due to time constraints and this is why Halo 3 was ever even made. And I couldn't be happier. It's gameplay is responsive as hell and relatively easy to pick up and pretty hard to master. It's graphics were stunning for a game made in 2007 and honestly still holds up really well today. The story has been downgraded from two, but It is very minor in my opinion. There's are a few nit picks I have about it, like certain difficulty spikes, but those really aren't a problem in the grand scheme of things. The enemy AI has been improved/tweaked a bit aswell, and there's no more fighting elites, this would be a kind of bad thing if you didn't fight alongside them which is just kinda cool. And spoiler alert, I really really like that part where you teamed up with the flood, not many people do, but I am one of them. So overall excellent game, and you won't regret buying it.… Expand

    Respect for the OG game. Halo Infinite was probably the ending stake in the franchise. Sad to see how low it has fallen. Halo 4 doesn't exist imo

    Pretty much a flawless game. All the missions are excellent in design and story. The enemy variety may have not been huge but there was so many vehicles and weapons the enemies can use it makes fighting them quite addictive and fun. Gun play is extremely enjoyable especially when using certain weapons like the BR and the beam rifle. My favourite mission is the Covenant and the best partsPretty much a flawless game. All the missions are excellent in design and story. The enemy variety may have not been huge but there was so many vehicles and weapons the enemies can use it makes fighting them quite addictive and fun. Gun play is extremely enjoyable especially when using certain weapons like the BR and the beam rifle. My favourite mission is the Covenant and the best parts involve taking down scarabs.     I'm gonna come out and say it. This is best halo game. The bit with the giant robots is sensational. i played this through with my friend and it was brilliant. Alien guns are **** though, but thats true for every halo i think. Also loved the flood level.

    For my money the best of the trilogy. Campaign is amazing, music and voice acting and art direction outstanding once again. Multiplayer is infinitely replayable, adding forge and replays was enormous. A near-perfect capstone to an iconic trilogy. Only complaint is that the campaign is on the shorter side and I miss Halo 2's prophet of truth voice.

    Halo 3 is truly immaculate in every way. Its art style will stand the test of time as one of the greatest in history, upscaled and in 4K with ray tracing mods Halo 3 looks as good or BETTER than most next generation games based on the strength of its art style alone.

    Gameplay its literal perfection from start to finish each and every match, the penultimate hybrid of everything I love about Halo CE and Halo 2, two juggernaut FPS titles both 10/10 or higher, fused into one incomparable experience. Forge set the standard for console developed map creators for casual to hardcore gamers. Halo 3's ranking system is more addictive than coke, and vastly more satisfying. The armor customization is amazing, despite there being much less armor in Halo 3 than in Halo Reach, the quality of Halo 3's customization is as top tier as you can ever get.

    GOATED maps that will be played thousands of years later. Guardian is simply one of the finest arena maps ever developed. The Pit is the greatest symmetrical map ever designed in history. Valhalla is Blood Gulch on a thousand steroids, with graphics and physics that rival and exceed numerous video games from 2023 without any effort at all.

    Theatre mode is perfect. Weapons are as balanced as it gets with the perfect tuning between Halo CE's overpowered sandbox and Halo 2's underpowered sandbox (sans the slightly nerfed Battle Rifle). Theatre mode was a decade ahead of everything else in the industry to such a degree, that no other studio including Bungie themsleves has been able to replicate Halo 3's UI.

    Halo Infinite is much better than at launch, if they had triple the budget 343i could NEVER even begin to come close to Halo 3's untouchable design at every level. A must play for any FPS fans, and the only way to truly judge Halo is to experience this game firsthand. Most of my friends many of whom do not care for Halo will play Halo 3 for hours without apology, because this game is the greatest FPS of all time!    … Expand

    Better than beating this game alone, is beating it in co-op with a friend, it's a lot of fun.

I mean when this game released, the only 1 thing that is a nitpick really was that Mirana Keyes' "To War" dialogue was a bit corny, other than that, this game was basically perfect. The Campaign story was just incredible, from going to the Ark, fighting with the Arbiter, to fighting with the Flood for one small moment, Killing the Prophet of Truth was spine tingling, and the sad deaths of Johnson and Miranda Keys made me cry. The was just that good. For the multiplayer, pretty much perfect if you have good practice. The battle rifle can be pretty difficult to use, but you can get pretty good at it, and with good practice with weapons, this is easily the best multiplayer of all time. Being able to play as Elites is always a plus. Forge mode was introduced in this game, and it was REVOLUTIONARY. Being able to play with the sandbox in the game to make modes and creations of our own was one of the best additions to a game ever put into the Halo games. Armor Customization was also added into this game, and Armor in this game at the time had basic progression, but overall, VERY good, and lets be real, we all wanted the Recon helmet. Halo 3 is one of the best games known in history, and it shows, and in my own opinion only one Halo game beats Halo 3. This game makes its stand in gaming history.… Expand

    I thought we were past days where people would just look at the default campaign settings for the basis of a review. There is SO much here for your money. The game's story is pretty much a backdrop for the missions and does help the games flow, but is by no means essential for enjoyment. It's fair to say there is nothing radically different about Halo 3's campaign mode. It's fair to say there is nothing radically different about Halo 3's campaign mode. If you didn't like the others, you probably won't like this. However, play it on heroic or above and you'll see what a finely balanced, intense and rewarding combat experiance it is. This is Halo at it's purest, most finely tuned level. I've found that most people who rank this game low has either played through it on normal (the "Wal-Mart crowd" setting) or has not delved into multiplayer, theatre mode or forge mode at all. Here is where the real meat is brought to the table. Theatre should soon become a standard amongst all multiplayer FPS games. RTS players have for some time now, treated match replays as gospel for improving their skills. Now FPS players have that chance aswell. By watching matches in which you did particularly well (or badly) you can definatly improve your game. For example, I have watched the early replays of my online games to learn which "weapon run" I should take from each spawn point, making it easier to get tooled up after I get killed. My only gripe at this is that there is no easy way to get your videos played back on a computer without hooking up your Xbox to a PC with screengrabbing software. Finally, Forge succesfully combines a sandbox game with a level editor. Everyone can have fun in forge. Seriously, my wife hates FPS games, but after a bit of nagging I got her to try forge. We spent hours on there mucking around in The Pit, creating piles of explosive crates, driving vehicles up walls, corpsehumping each other, it was awesome. There is no other way such a staunch opponent of FPS games could have enjoyed Halo 3 apart from like this. It's a breath of fresh air that the FPS genre really needs. … Expand

(I made sure I looked at the plot overview on Wikipedia for these so that I wasn't confused or lost by the plot). The online multiplayer also seems very good, although I have only just started playing. It does seem a lot more balanced than the Halo 2 multiplayer, which I dabbled with but didn't like half as much, (mainly due to the sheer number of people taking advantage of what I now know are button glitches). Hats off to Bungie for putting together such a fine game! Don't believe the PS3 owners on here who are obviously marking the game down because their system has no 'killer app' at present.     Halo 3 succeeds in online play, however the campaign was absolutely not on par with the online. The campaign felt rushed, and incomplete, which is strange for a game that is supposedly the end of an epic trilogy. The online experience saves this game from me giving an 8, or possibly even a 7.

    a lot of people have bashed this game, and i don,t know why, this is one of the best FPS game in decades, sure the single player can get a little tired after playthrough number 3 but i still play the multi-player almost every day and keep coming back to it, also i have noticed that the people that say the multi-player is bad and unbalanced and generally bad at it.

    Greatly build game, multiplayer is amazing, I have seen better in the halo franchise but this game surely stands and plays well. Sure the campaign is short and rather repetative, but bungie has created a great franchise. I mean listen to the music! You get a true gaming feeling with the soundtrack! I'd say if there are over one billion hours of halo 3 played, this game deserves a 9.

So, if you don't like the normal multiplayer maps, you could edit them into all different kinds of things, like racing maps, a maze map for Infection, and a lot of different things.     An excellent game. The addition of 4-player co-op mode is great, though it makes it easy to finish the campaign quickly. The Theatre stuff is lots of fun. And the Multi-player is outstanding. Really nothing not to like, especially now that they made shotty snipers less prevalent in match-making. An excellent game.

Gears of war looked more photo realistic, but everything in the game was black and grey, which became really boring. Little details like you feet sinking slightly into sand or snow, leaving footprints just add to the experience. As for the gameplay, with the focus taken back more to the original formula of guns, melee bashing and grenades, it feels alot more like Halo. The exhisting guns have all been tweaked and the new ones like the gravity hammer is a blast, literally sending enemies flying in all directions. The controls work exactly as they should, esp. in the middle of a heated firefight. I rarely felt like I died because the controls didn't work as they should, like the clunky controls in Gears. The vehicles work exactly as they should and nothing is funnier than running down ghosts in a brute chopper. Multiplayer is frantic and alot of fun, and the new equipment spice things up a bit. Radar jammers, trip mines, the bubble shield, deployable cover, power drainers, ect, ect, all add another level of tatics. The forge and theater are both alot of fun. I was playing a game on forge, and being able to help my team out by dropping a much needed weapon or vehicle was a godsend. I know that sounds cheap, but keep in mind, the other team can do the same. The theater is fun, but I've mainly used it to show my friends exactly how I shot them in the head, or how to take a look at how I was killed, so i can learn from my mistakes.     Anyone that says they beat this game in 4-8 hours played in on easy.

    I dont think that even gives a person the right to judge a game, to dumb down its AI and physics to give the unskilled gamer an advantage. Should these peoples opinions matter?

Build your own competitive map, set up fusion coils for target practice, make a rube goldburg device, set up a Zombie map, drop tanks on up to 7 of your mates... Use your imagination! Chances are, you can do it! And last, but certainly not least: Saved films. It's gold. Want to see your Rampage again? Want to see how you turned that Overkill into a Killimanjaro? Want to see how you splattered that guy on the other side of the map or that open scope Triple kill? You can do it! And from any angle! The only downer in this is that you can't transfer it to your computer, but I see that GeeVee.com is hard at work making an online program so that you can! It'll make your machinimas a lot easier and cheaper. So, Halo 3 is a great, solid game with few flaws. The only thing that people complain about is that they are losing to new(er) people and they need to blame the game; and total graphics nerds. It's not the graphics that realy counts, it's the gameplay and replayability, and in that respect, Halo 3 delivers.     Its a brilliant campaign a bit short but the AI is top notch you have to say! Youir comrades on normal at least are brilliant shots without being unnatural.
    On legendary its still very challenging even with friends but 3 or more people and its gets too laggy.
    Great multiplay, a near perfect end to the saga.

    I have been playing this solo and the graphics are amost as good as Gears. on the otherhand the ingame cutscenes are almost identical in quality. Master C Is as detailed as ever and the lighting in the jungle is top notch. A definate must play for Veterans of the series!

The graphics were probably the biggest disappointment I expected nothing less than that of Gears of War and the going back and forth thru the same area the campaign just reminded me of a multiplayer map but it is still a great game with high replay value and cool online multiplayer. P.S.-watch out Halo 3 because after playing the Call of Duty 4 I was expecting more for the final Halo. Same rooms for 90% of the game, same tactics to deal with each individual enemy, same puzzles again and again! But for some reason it's ok for Bioshock to have these flaws but not Halo. Halo 3 rarely visits the same areas at all and if you do it is very fleeting (apart from the ship Cortana is on) And as for the graphics, again people are drawing comparisons between Gears, Bioshock and Halo. Sure Gears and Bioshock look better but that's because there is about a tenth of the action on screen compared to Halo! If you fought two or three enemies at a time in tiny enviroments the graphics would have been amazing but then it wouldn't have been Halo anymore. The people slating this game need to get over themselves and realise that the game was made to be fun and that's exactly what it is! The forge mode and theatre need to be played to be believed... Absolutely fantastic! The possibilities in online multiplayer are now endless and you can record, pause and edit it afterwards to your hearts content.     The best multiplayer on LIVE and a fun, graphically superior campaign. Forge will keep us playing for years. I spent 2 hours the other day racing 7 other players on 'Sandtrap', without firing a bulet! Immortal.

The multiplayer is essentially the same as Halo 2 with improved graphics, more balanced and upgraded weapons, and a few new toys to play with. That's both good and bad since the original games worked very well, and changing the system could be very detrimental. If you liked playing online in Halo 2, the series' 3rd installment is a good buy.… Expand

The campian is extremly fun, althought really, really short, and the miultiplayer is a the best in any FPS game. What else is there?     I don't get it! Everyone says this game was over hyped... I guess I must have missed that while I was out partying and having a life! Halo 3 wasn't mean't to reinvent the FPS genre. The game is acceptable as is. and provides exactly what it is suppose to provide...FUN! They didn't make Halo 3 for you to run to the sony fanboys yelling my game is better than yours. They wanted to finish the Halo story in the best way possible, by not drastically changing the formula that made the franchise popular in the first place. MS and Bungie didn't hype this game up... The media hyped it up! Which is why I am not disappointed in H3, because I didn't think it was going to be the end all for FPS... I just thought it was going to finish the story. And that it did! The only thing I wish they would have had a setup like R6: Vegas for multiplayer. So I could choose which game I wanted to go into. But the match maker works cause I haven't played one match yet and have to worry about the game locking up. So it's cool!… Expand

    Fantastic graphics, nice story line, difficulty is good, u do get stuck in some spots but that is what gaming is all about, perfect for guys like me.

    The main story is undoubtedly a let-down compared to the first two. But thanks to the replay value, all the new equipment and features, and the fact that it's online is pretty much unmatched, it's a must-have for any Xbox 360 owner.

    CALL OF DUTY 4 fans: I have played Call of Duty 4. It is a great game, and has both its advantages and disadvantages over other shooters (like Halo 3). But the fact that so many "anti-halo" fans are posting weak comments about COD's dominance over Halo 3, is unethical. This section is to rank Halo 3, not for COD Fanboys to share the obsessions about COD dominating Halo 3. I take no side between the two games. They are both great. But please save the COD talk for the COD section. And Halo fans, keep the Halo talk here.

    It's the addition of the Forge level editor and the saved films that give the game an even longer set of legs, legs that will probably keep you running at full speed until Bungie figures out where, exactly, to go from here.

    Halo 3 is the best Xbox 360 game to date. The single-player campaign and storyline are both very strong, but it's Forge and the Saved Films features that will likely go down in history as Bungie's crowning achievements. They've basically taken everything great about the series and improved upon it in every way, then added some amazing new features that we'll be using for years to come.
