Feels like a DLC for MW2 with more ingame lags. Worst reinstallment with short campaing. The grahics are the same, if not worst than MW2. The gameplay is the same with same weapons and barely a couple new feature. Definitely not worth the $70 retail. This is the last COD game I am buying.

I think this is the final curtain draw for COD, well for me anyway. After the days I have spent on MW and MW2, I wanted this to feel new and make me want to progress through the ranks again but there is nothing here that feels fresh or different enough to drive me to progress. The maps are just more of the same, they could have come out of either MW2 or Black Ops. I think the general sentiment that it feels like an expansion pack is absolutely right, as graphically and in design style it is so similar to the other games. Single player is the same hectic mess as ever. No idea what the story is about but the general mechanics of everything works like all the other COD games. On the higher difficulty levels the enemy AI is aggressive but hardly intelligent. It is difficult to not compare this game to battlefield 3 as they are competing for the same market share. For me BF3 has made enough of a jump from Bad Company to feel like a totally different game and worthy of my £40. Love it or hate it, the variation that BF3 offers in multiplayer through the use of scale, vehicles and equipment progression is just far superior and feels like a new experience (certainly for 360). To sum up, I am really disappointed that this franchise is not the genre defining game it once was. The maps are uninspired (Hardhat is one of the dullest multiplayer environments on 360) and the gameplay, levelling up and customisation is just far too similar to what we have all played and loved before. Where's the fun in fighting endless enemies with only one other person? There is no fun in that. On to multiplayer... the maps are the worst I have ever seen. The graphics are extremely dated, Battlefield 3 just completely slaughters this game. The textures are also horrendous! Everything about this game is re-used from Modern Warfare 2. This game doesn't feel fresh at all. All of the guns and skins are re-used... the menus as well... even some of the buildings and vehicles. The sounds of the guns are still bad, and some are the same as MW2. Battlefield 3 is just so much better. Sorry if the truth hurts. This game is just a bad DLC to a game that came out two years ago. Not impressed, laggy, hit detection issues, repetitve gameplay. Single player much as one would expect. Can be fun in very short bursts but there are far too many superior games out there for this one to be a keeper.

Hi, this is my review of Modern warfare 3

First off I installed the game onto my Xbox Hard Drive (this took about 15 mins) after that i loaded the game, before i got to the menu i was greeted with a nice clip , but im not gonna spoil what that is, when the menu is loaded up it is practically the same as mw2 except it is abit more dull and dark , and then i got the typical "there is some offensive and disturbing content, would you like to disable it" , after browsing the menus i went on over to multi-player.

I found a game in kill confirmed, I loaded into the game (i was on a snow map but i cant remember what it was called) and im not gonna lie, my first impressions was "this looks ALOT like black ops" and the reason for this is how everything seems closer to you that they did in cod4 and mw2, soo i was a little bit worried at first, but then the worries soon went away when i got my first few kills and realised that the guns were balanced, there was reasonable recoil and you dont have magic bullets that bend round corners , one of the other things that i noticed strait away was that the knife, it HAS been fixed and this if for the better , it feels and sounds ALOT like the cod4 knife.

after that game i was surprised at how well done and balanced the game is , the next map i played on was one called bakarra , this looks like a blackhawk down inspired map (as there is a black hawk in the middle of the map) , in that game i then realised that people who usually rely on grenades and explosives were always using flashbangs and stun grenades (i guess this is where blast shield pro comes in handy) , now back to what i was saying earlier , the guns have a reasonable amount of recoil , so this is where the proficiency "kick" really comes in handy , i unlocked it and used it straight away , and this helped me pick off enemies from longer distances faster, in this game i used my "I.M.S" kill streak , i deployed it in a building while i was looking out the window, it got 3 kills within seconds, some people might think this is over powered but just 1 emp grenade or half a clip of ammo will take this out.

i did quite a few games and unlocked quite a few things for my rifles, i got to about level 23 and realized that the levels wasnt much of a grind to get through as there are loads of challenges, one of the things i really like about the new online feel is that is, if you start shooting some guy in the back then 90% of the time he will die and not turn around and shoot you in the face.

after that i went over to the single player, (dont worry i wont be giving away any story spoilers) , I started playing it and it basically makes you aware of what happens in the previous modern warfare games, after playing for a bit i got to a level called "black tuesday" this is where i realised how much this story feels like cod4 , all of these "hollywood scripted moments" really fall into place in the missions and they actually seem believable, i have done quite a bit of the story so far , and at this moment in time the story seems longer that any other call of duty to date. i havent come across to playing spec ops yet, but i will soon.

but one of the downsides i would say about the multiplayer (to me) is that the maps dont feel like modern warfare 2 or cod4's maps they feel like black ops maps for the way you can move about them, but a good thing that they added was more vertical gameplay in the maps.

    I have been awaiting the arrival of MW3 for ages, and in my personal opinion I am really enjoying it, there are pros and cons to every game out there but I still believe the pros to this game outweigh the cons;

1: Campaign - Now I haven't played much of the single player being a fan of the multiplayer aspect. BUT from the offset the game has thrown you into a very visually impressive location, (despite the dated engine it is run on) they have made the best use of the tech they are using, the story mode has never been long and to be honest I quite like it as the story doesn't outstay its welcome. Although I would like a longer campaign to immerse myself into I'd be worried that Sledgehammer/Infinity Ward would be fluffing the campaign with un needed levels that would essentially bore a person, or leave them a little confused! Campaign = 5/10 - little short, but spectacular visuals (despite tech)

2: Spec Ops - ok I see where most people are coming from here, Zombies was fun very much enjoyed it especially with 3 of your mates joining in the amusement, Spec Ops Survival I feel is a little more focused, so does take away the "party" feel about it. but I personally prefer the focused team work and the joint need to work together to get to the next wave. the missions are fun and do test the players ability to work as a team. I'd have liked to have seen a little story to the mission modes rather than random scenarios but all in all a good way to waste time when there are only 2 of you online. again my personal opinion is that while Zombies it a great game, the Spec op Survival and missions allow a more focused team game and feels a little more "hardcore".

Spec Ops = 7/10 a fun focused team based game, feels like a game in its own right.

3: Multiplayer - I have lost MANY hours to MW2 and have enjoyed every second of it! MW3 should be no different. The maps are cleverly manufactered to allow for a more skirmish based gaming experience. I absolutely LOVE the idea of Support streaks that allow the not so amazing shooters to feel they are achieving something while playing! I like that they have kept the basic concept of levelling up from MW2 and that they have made prestiging a longer task. the only negative I can come up with at this time is that the game itself is not visually different, (nephew walks into room - "oh you are playing MW2" "No this is MW3" "Oh it looks the same" hmmm not a goo thing to hear really? bit like buying an iphone 4s. Great idea but they look exactly the same as the iphone 4... how is that going to show people that your phone is better than theirs if they look the same. Same as MW2 and MW3, an upgraded game which you can see when you are playing the game with the tweaks they have put into it. but as a spectator or someone walking past they wouldn't be able to tell this is a new game! other than that I love it. Love the maps and still have as always the COD bug

Multiplayer = 7/10 - Love the whole experience, but how can people walking into you room know you are better than them for owning the newest CODMW?

I loved MW2 multiplayer, but found black ops nowhere near as satisfying (the weapons just didn't have enough OOMPH). The gameplay here is very similar to MW2, minus the unbalance (no commando, no nukes) and it all feels incredibly meaty and satisfying to play.

Yeah thumbs up for the cool new killstreak rewards and the deathstreak but honestly, is it that hard to make it different? For instance, you could have added vehicles here and there, maybe change some layouts as well. Honestly, it just seems like an add-on to MW2. Truthfully, I have to say that BF3 is still better than MW3. BF3 made the changes, so why couldn't you? Nevertheless, your multi-player game-play is still enjoyable, so thumbs up for that. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Modern Warfare 3 stands alone in what is the largest expansion pack ever released, and here is why that is so. (Minor, ever so Minor Spoilers) First the campaign - As many people know, Modern Warfare series has had some, short, but decent single player options, from the first time you **** your gun on the hull of the rocking ship in Call Of Duty 4 to the epic invasion of the USA by Russia in Modern Warfare 2. The Single Player has never disappointed in its cinematic offerings and didn't disappoint in MW3 with the Defense of New York being the set piece opener, but after this exciting opener, the single player fizzled out, maybe resurfacing this excitement at a few, extremely short set pieces. One with a Zero G fight in a plane crashing to the ground and a James Bond esque level in a Diamond Mine. The conclusion to the Makarov - Price story sees the campaign fall flat on its face. I found myself asking, "Is that it?" and also, the little attempt to conjure up some emotion does not deliver on what it should. With the gameplay having a good variation, from being on the ground running from a tank to being up in the air in a AC-130 but these sections last for a short while then end, leaving the fun at the last checkpoint. The orchestra of Hans Zimmer (a personal favorite of mine) seems to fit greatly, with music that harkens back to the first Transformer film but It is unfortunately dround by the gunfire and screaming, usually, I wouldn't get annoyed at this as, after all you are in a war zone, but the lack of an option to control the audio settings for Music, Effects and Speech left a bitter taste in my mouse. It seems infinity ward have taken out most of the user control. I'd give the campaign a 5 in comparaison with the other MW campaigns, and a 7 compared to most military shooter campaigns. After finishing the somewhat dull conclusion to a story arc I personally really enjoyed, I turned my attention to MULTIPLAYER, the main part of the Modern Warfare series.

Entering my first game, I picked my class, and was dropped straight into a match of Team Deathmatch.
I immeadiatly found the multiplayer game to be exactly the same as MW2's. I shrugged this off, seeking some change which I found in the form of how the kill streaks have been turned into point streaks now, which allows all people to have an even chance of gaining a support, attack or special package. After a few games I found myself distraught, the spawning system is broken, I found myself at one point spawning in exactly the same place as I died and spawn killing is rife within the maps. The maps..
The Maps are dull, and no overgrowns, no classic maps came out of the map rotor which I found depressing and the lack of large maps leans towards run and gun gameplay giving no chance for any snipers to have a chance. At least they took out stopping power and juggernaut. In Black Ops, I found myself enjoying the option of being able to create custom gamemodes, with myself creating a zombie game type with different types of zombies that could move slow, fast, have more health or less. I found you could do the same so I went to create the zombie game type all over again only to find Infinity Ward have taken out the ability to change class attributes! Its like Infinity Ward have taken everything Treyarch have done and removed it which is fair enough but when some of those things are good, why bother taking them out? I'd give the multiplayer a 6.

The new MW is the same as the old MW. Just pretend you are in a movie that consists of all the James Bond films' action scenes, randomly strung together, with a few war movie classics thrown in for good measure. I realize that this is probably all many people want but I prefer a game.

For some reason, I'm especially bothered by MW3's continued, pretentious use of famous and out-of-context, quotes. Quoting MLK is especially perverse, and this is why I'll give it a score of 0 rather than the 5 or 6 it probably deserves. MP is still solid but hasn't changed much since MW1. A certain other shooter is leaps and bounds ahead now, both graphically and game play wise.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare changed the way First Person Shooters were presented from then on. Then came Modern Warfare 2, a drastic overhaul to the gui and accessibility for newcomers while adding a huge amount of unlocks to make it a significant update. Unfortunantly for gamers, Modern Warfare 3 doesn't have the as much of update. This year's entry brings withit a new singleplayer campaign that raps up previous stories nicely, if antidramaticly. (I'd be impressed if someone playing the game felt bad for some of the characters dying) Multiplayer is still there, and better than ever. Unfortunantly, th8is year's entry brings with it no major overhaul, and no real reason to play it over MW2, Black Ops, or even Call of duty 4. Compared to the sea of other Triple A games coming out this season, there is little reason to pick "this year's" modern warfare over the competition. Expand

It is important in this day in age that in a world where we are rebelling against corporate greed that games like this should be scorned as the producers behind them make shameless money grabs.

It is important to note that this is not Infinity Wards fault, as most of the staff were fired or left in discust when they were not adequately renumerated for their previous efforts (activision cutting costs). Sledgehammer is just another **** company that made games that no one likes or cares about.

The fact that you create a game that is 'simmilar' is one thing. The fact that you do not innovate the engine, textures, sounds or gameplay is another.

To the conceed to make multiplayer maps that restrict play and force you to run about an metaphorical abbatoir is another. Run down this alleyway, this alleyway. where is the fun in that. There is no zombies, face paints, wager modes, and then they shamelessly copy halo headhunter modes and rebadge them as 'kill confirmed'. Thats not innovative, its just wrong!

I will be returning my copy tomorow, not beacuse it is a bad game (although it is) but beacuse it is a sham. It is a discrase and if i want to play MW i will play one of its predecessors. And what is this elite **** 69 dollars a year? What happened to a time of you buy a game once and you get constant support?

I know a lot of fan boys say yeah BF3 fans are just complaining, however, at least they have dedicated servers? First DLC? Yeah its free, oh and it may not perform at 60fps but its new and it tries different things.

If you want a great single player game... best to wait for Saints Row 3 or Skyrim, something that is worth your money. The campaign in here has been shot to 6 hours of gameplay (really???)

They've recycled multiple buildings and scenery from previous Call Of Duty-titles, and in the story mode they seem to have ran out of ideas re-using alot of the old ones, like running from gunfire over rooftops and whilst your teammates jump down onto a lower roof and keep on running, when you jump down there the roof collapses and you need to find another way.

It's unoriginal, and nothing more then what people could've expected... The multiplayer had some overhauling but not all that much.

I know many like myself were looking forward to the continuation of the Modern Warfare storyline, instead we were helped to a heaping mass of unrelated cold war era warfare. Black Op's success was related DIRECTLY to the success of modern warfare. People did not simply say they were playing Black Ops, but they were saying that they were playing a Call Of Duty game. Activision had a golden ticket to use with the same engine and they used it on Black Ops. On the heels of a reinvigorated Battlefield 3 with the new frostbite engine, Activision had NO choice but to do some re-invention of their own or face being shadowed by the new "Oohs and Ahhs". The single player campaign is still worthy of a Hollywood award and although the soundtrack falls a bit flat compared to Warfare 2's masterpiece, it still works to add emotion.

Modern Warfare 3 is a gem that could have made an impact had it come before Black Op's however with new pretty engines coming out for most newer offerings this year many people find it difficult to enjoy the game as much they did Black Ops.

Until the team develops a new way to show off the franchise, it is no longer the king of the genre.

I'd hate to say it but if they plan on continuing their annual release schedule they are going to definitely need to develop a new engine that rivals the frostbite or this could spell the end of the trendy age of Call Of Duty..

I queued up for the midnight launch and when I got home, I couldn't stop playing the campaign until about 10am when I couldn't stay awake any longer. Every time I pick it up, I struggle to put it back down. It feels like a really solid game, but admittedly, does feel very similar to the other two and lacks imagination that could've put it on another level. Multiplayer feels as solid as ever and I didn't find it tiresome like I found with Black Ops after just a few plays. Survival mode is a very welcome addition to vary the gameplay a small bit as well as having Spec Ops Co-op missions which I look forward to plowing through. Altogether, this is still basically the Modern Warfare we all know and love/ hate but much more refined. The harsh user reviews this game has got feels unjust, I find it's still one of the most compelling, solid and fluid first person shooters out there compared to most others of this genre. I don't know what people's expectations for this was like, but from the first two it should be obvious what to expect from the third and if you played the first two to death and found it getting limp, this won't do much to reignite your interest but if you played the first two a moderate amount and found it enjoyable, you'll like this just as much if not more.

It's a new installment to a SERIES on the same hardware technology as the last 4 games from the series. Do not expect drastically new looking graphics or gameplay, though both have evolved slightly and smoothed out greatly over the past few years.

The best COD yet, sure it may be repetitive but isn't it the same COD we all know and love? The multiplayer is the best than its ever been and the campaign is extremely fun not to mention the spec ops and the survival mode.

MW3 is continuing what fans have loved over and over.. the story is enjoyable..exciting and far better then some similar genre's stories..multiplayer is fun and addictive as always. So what it still has the same feeling over and over..people like it..and the amount of sales shows that. People enjoy bashing the game. I enjoyed it greatly, and a ton of other people playing now agree.

The Single Player is superb, with every mission revelantly linking to the story as opposed to a series of huge spectacular moments. Its a decent length and keeps your hooked all the way through. Spec Ops is brilliant, it would be nice to play with more than two people but its really great fun none the less. Lots of variety in the missions and plenty of unlocks to keep it replayable.

The multiplayer is more of the same, but refined. Sure there are problems, there are far too many quickscopers as sniper rifles are far too powerful and explosives are completely useless against people with blast shield prop. However the improvements they have made are brilliant, the prestige shop is a welcome feature, the gun leveling system works really well and rewards players who are good players with particular guns.

Overall Modern Warfare is just a fun game to play with friends. If your playing yourself you can still have a good time but the ultimate experience is when you play in a group.

In reality this game is probably a 9. Its a really good game but not perfect. However since the game is being unfairly represented by fanboys and haters I felt it is only fair to try and balance it out slightly a give it a 10.

However, MW3 does a great job at remembering what it is.....a video game who's purpose is to be engaging, fun, and entertaining above all else. It's a TOTAL package featuring hundreds of hours of gameplay, multitudes of modes for multiplayer gamers, a tight single-player package and loads upon LOADS of unlockable goodies that will keep any gamer with a pulse busy for months on end.

They say the public like to build things up just to break them down, and that old adage holds true here. Modern Warfare 3 is the most popular thing to hate because quite frankly, it's the most popular thing, well.....PERIOD.

The game is extraordinarily well programmed, graphic engine is stellar locked at 60 fps, and it's hard to fault a game that stays close to a formula that quite frankly created what the modern shooter is and does.

Do not let the internet crafty fool you.....a lot of the time the internet nerd world will find a way to hate on something popular in real life. It's the fun thing to do.

This game is FANTASTIC and you would be a fool to rate or believe this game is anything less than an 8 on a bad day. It's technically and superficially an outstanding game that continues to DEFINE this generation of multiplayer excellence.

No game is perfect, so i don't give 10's. I'd knock this game if for only the fact the texture work could be improved in the graphics department and sound design could use a little work.

Don't forget the times that BF3 servers where down, (MULTIPLE TIMES) which also happened on day 1 of release. That being said, the multiplayer has much left to be desired. The maps are tiny and full of NoobTubers. Levels are setup for massive sniping kills (which is fine if you snipe, MOST players don't) and game modes are not impressive.

I don't think it's fair to expect a "whole new gaming experience" from the Modern Warfare series. It's still a Call of Duty game. Why does every expect it to be so different all of a sudden? If you liked MW2, you'll have fun with this game.

Also, I feel that in the process of trying to make the game more balanced, the developers removed what made call of duty great: Capitalism. The concept of providing those who generate kills with the ability to acquire more kills is what made call of duty great. That is what kill streaks were made for. However, the developers took a capitalistic reward structure and made it socialist. Now, has my KD or win ratio been affected? no but it does upset me to see a kid who has only 1 kill call in an airdrop. I do feel that the changes made though provide for a different game, one that I do not like. With all that said, I still play it religiously and will continue to until the new call of duty launches next year or when Respawn Interactive drops their new title. The multiplayer is why anyone buys this game however, and is also the reason the game shines. Unlike BF3, CoD is frenetic, fast paced, and visceral. You don't have to run miles to get shot out of nowhere like in BF3. While I like MW3, I am disappointed that the story/campaign isn't like the old CoD games...the ones for PC. Those games had a great story, a difficult campaign, and excellent multiplayer. These days it seems like the game developers have to water everything down so the "casual" gamer can feel good about themselves.

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
