It's the same thing as MW2 although MW2 was better because it actually brought something new.
P.S. The game mode Kill Confirmed does NOT get rid of campers.

MW3 = MW2. It looks the same game... I won't play this anymore. I just beat the campaign, played few online matches and I'm going to sell the game.
For me, COD4 is the best from the serie, but Infinity Ward ruined everything after MW2.

So many problems from MW2 have returned and it is all the worst since they are little things that would take little effort to fix but arnt. Weapon balancing? They never heard of that apparently. Maps that dont look generic and arnt easy to spawn kill? Its like they thougth people liked dying over and over again without having a chance to do anything.

And this isnt even mentioning the bullsh*t DLC thats going to come out with a price of 15$ just for 3 old maps from previous titles.

Pretty disappointed that MW 3 isn't simply considered an expansion of MW 2. There is very little fresh content with MW 3. I would strongly argue that the maps I've tried so far this morning have been the worst of the Call of Duty series yet. CoD is still gimmicky as ever.

It was nice to see the story completed, but no innovation, I bought a used copy at game stop, and returned it after a few days, the online is SSDD. The community is absurd. While I have Cod: 4 and MW2 on PC, I chose not to buy this for PC due to I couldn't return it and I would be contributing to the sales figures. The graphics are old, the facial animations stiff, the characters round turns like robots, the sounds are still terrible, and many of the environments still look like cardboard, which, in MW 1 and 2's case, I excused because of the exciting game play and story. MW3 is just a rehashed and uninventive copy of the first two. I played the whole campaign and never once felt the rush or compulsion I did in MW 1 and 2. Then I tried the MP, the three maps I played for mostly flat, mazes that were CQB and very, very bland. Everything looked exactly the same. I legitimately attempted to enjoy this. I did, but it's obvious that Activision is just grubbing for money. If Infinity Ward's original creators would've been at the helm, things might have been different. All and all, hugely disappointed. This makes my favorite loadout, the sniper, completely useless. If you're not using an SMG or a shotgun and taking your chances at spawn/die/spawn/die suicide runs, then you're not going to get anywhere in this game. And who can play that way for more than 20 minutes without getting fatigued? Add in the poor framerate, poor support for dedicated servers, poor graphics, and so on, and this game fails mightily compared to the others. If you haven't purchased it yet, don't buy it. The campaign took me 4 hours and 40 minutes on Regular difficulty, I took my time loking for hidden intel of which I collected 22 of the 46 pieces, it's the shortest Call of Duty campaign yet and the shortest FPS campaign I've certainly ever played. It's full of impressive set pieces with buildings falling down around the player's linear path, but these superficial big budget set pieces barely hide to anyone with experience with MW or MW2 that so much content from them is recycled with just a few minor edits made to the textures to fool the player into thinking what they're seeing is new (case in point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5dsOn06w1s - an entire building from CoD4), this goes for character models, animations, weapons, vehicles, gameplay sequences (for example the boat secion in MW2), a huge amount of content is reused and the game seems to be built around what they could recycle more than what they could create from scratch. The lack of originality or even intention to be original is present throughout the entire game. The story itself is actually quite enjoyable and feels as much a sequel to CoD4 and MW2, making it tie together nicely as a trilogy, though some sections make it feel more like a fanfic than a true sequel (considering that most of the people who worked on MW2 left and had nothing to do with MW3), the last mission was more of a QTE filled joke than a satisfying conclusion. I wonder how different it would've turned out had 40 of the key staff from IW, the original and only true CoD developer, due to Activision's disgusting treatment of the series, the staff and their creation. I won't even go to the clunkily added controversial scene involving the death of a random child that felt tacked on or the fact that everyone the player kills in the campaign is either African or Russian.

Spec Ops is a mixed bag, the missions are a mix of fun and terrible, and the Veteran difficulty is like that of the campaign, a very lazily added hard difficulty where the player dies to psychic enemies in around 3 bullets, usually within a second of peeking out from cover (and by peeking I mean moving, as there is still no lean function). The survival mode however is a lot of fun, it works well as two player co-op and a lot of the tedium from the other survival mode in the series, Zombies, is removed by taking out the luck factor with the amount of ammo the player can get and which weapons they acquire. There's a lot of fun to be had here with a friend and it runs smoothly online, the same can't be said for the multiplayer though.

In the previous Call of Duty, Black Ops, quickscoping was removed on the basis it's a cheap exploit of the game's aim assist, and that was a good call, though it annoyed many kids who like to do it in MW2. They brought this back in MW3 to please those kids and without regard for the quality of their game's online, this sums up their approach to the multiplayer. As a reskin of MW2 it of course plays quite similarly, they've made attempts to better balance the game with how effective the knife, grenade launchers and killstreak rewards are (which amongst quickscoping ranked as the biggest complaints of MW2's multiplayer) and the new point streak system is a nice addition, but all of the technical problems with this peer hosted, laggy mess with poor hit detection and terrible matchmaking still remain, taking a lot of the fun out of playing it, along of course with the huge focus on player's stats (made worse by in-depth stat tracking) that has most players approaching the game in as cheap a way as possible to camp themselves to a high kill/death ratio. The new game modes aren't actually to original either, some of them may as well credit other older and more recent games considering they're so close to them in design. The map design itself is a campfest, designed by Raven Software as after the majority of IW including all its creative and technical talent it took the few left at IW and other Activision developer Slegehammer Games to design the bulk of the game and they needed help fitting map design into their tight schedule, as of course a Call of Duty has to be out every single Novemeber in order to monopolise on the Christmas sales.

Lazily made rehash that might as well urinate on the grave of the original Infinity Ward, Activision's approach to this franchise is a good representation of everything that's wrong with the game industry right now.

If Activision are smart they will create a new game and make it good enough to compete with BF.

Cons: 1)clunky controls, same old layout, just feels slow, like your avatar is 350lb, which means its a Campers paradise...running and gunning,,will leave you wondering how did this guy shoot me from 200 yrds and around a corner, 2)maps are uncreative, they look great, but 90% of what you see you can't interact with, there is no freedom of movement, or freedom to be creative in your play
    3) lastly its just not an improvement on Black Ops, we want to see the envelope pushed, not a turd polished
    4) Spawning is mind bogglingly terrible,,,I can't even begin to say how poor this aspect is, I don't think I even have the words to articulate the almost blatant neglect
    5) and lastly,, after a couple of hours of play, and achieving a 35 rank I just stopped,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and thought this is hellof boring, I can't believe the nerve of Activision asking people to pay $50 bucks for the elite package of such a amazingly boring multiplayer game,,,,

You soon begin to notice there are A LOT more NPC enemies then previous games. Because of this the AI does not know how to respond. You will notice them all bunching up into a pile and you just mowing them down with whatever gun you have in hand. There simply is not enough cover for them. With that being said what kind of cover does that leave you. As for the story its nowhere near as Intelligent of a story that MW2 gave its MATURE audiance. In MW2 you actually cared about the characters. When main characters died it was an important event. Not just a "well yep it happened". By the way it took me 4h:30min to finish this campaign. ***Multiplayer*** This is the most disappointing aspect for me. I cannot stand it. To start the maps are like a maze they interweave and are FULL of corners, windows and ledges for people to hide and camp in. To be honest I don't understand why the developers would make the maps like this. Its encouraging people to spawn stand in the same spot and hope someone walks by. If you choose to not do this you will die. I guess their argument could be these are flanking routes. But for that to be true you have to spawn on the same "side" and move around. The spawning makes this impossible its completely random. You clear an area just to be killed by someone that spawned behind you and ran to a corner. There is no tactical aspect to this. Run run run die. Run run run die wash rinse repeat. The only other thing left to discuss is Survival mode...I'm sure they ment Horde Mode they must be mistaken. What I mean by that is, time was spent to create it and it is still a video game so that means it deserves some credit in my playbook. Unfortunately for Modern Warfare 3, a 1 is all it gets and I will go into more detail soon. I simply want to get out a message out to Activision before I weigh the pros and cons of this game: Please remove the proverbial blindfold off of your eyes and open them before you start dishing out products which quite frankly suck. There, thats it. Simple and straightforward. Now, onto the review:

What can I say about this game that is positive? Apparently nothing because it is quite obviously such a severe rehash that its impossible to see the difference between it or Modern Warfare 2. That is no surprise seeing as 90% of this game is recycled from previous iterations of the same crap. Buildings are recycled, weapons are recycled, animations are recycled, set-pieces are recycled (I will expand upon the "beating a dead horse" set pieces further into my review), and above all the story is recycled. Wait a second though...what story? There is a story in this game? The story is as effective at explaining what is going on around you as the explosions are to making you feel immersed....IT ISNT! What do we as gamers have to do to get a sequel which challenges preconceived notions about what it takes to make a good game? A good game doesnt mean recycling what works...it means having the balls to move into risky territory as soon as you get the gut feeling that your game is becoming stale. Why Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer didnt see this is confounding, but then again Infinity Ward is not Infinity Ward any more...it became CrapWard as soon as its founders were betrayed and ditched by cash money based Activision. I digress though because I am heading off topic. Regardless, Modern Warfare 3 embraces a familiar concept therefore which makes for nothing but an overdose of drama which does nothing to create wonder at the game's attempted positives which ultimately fail. I said I would go into set pieces earlier and that is what I will do now. I pose a question first though...did Activision hire Michael Bay to direct the game or something? Because I swear there are more useless explosions, on rails vehicle scenes and linear corridors in this game then there are bullets being fired throughout the entire game. We were given a movie, and charged a criminal 59.99 to watch it. Speaking of which, Black Ops is STILL that price....WTF?! Anyways, I close with commenting that this game doesnt deserve a 70 or 80 or 90 or especially 100. In fact it doesnt deserve anything but a 10 on a 100 scale or a 1 on a 10 scale simply because there is no risk in this game. Its a rehash, copy and paste of what we already have, and that is COD4 and MW2. The COD Elite service? Just another way for Activision to rip off foolish little kids who know no better other than to ask their even dumber parents to front the cash for that useless service as well in addition to regular Xbox Live fees. Oh and whats with the $100 price tag on the Hardened edition? Does it come with a gold chain signed by DMX? I sure hope so dog! Cause it aint worth nearly the price otherwise! People, continue playing MW2 and rest assured that you are playing the most up to date experience you can get, and please for the love of god dont be suckered into buying those $15 map packs...you are just encouraging crap ware development for years to come. Close your wallets, and perhaps these guys will open their heads.

That being said, one the successes that CoD has influenced on the FPS genres was lead by the innovation the development team creates. Yet this year, even with bringing two new development teams to the mix, very few new game mechanics were brought into the game. Like a lot of people are saying how MW3 is just a map pack for MW2, the only real "new" aspect of the game is new maps and weapons. Weapon proficiencies is just a perk slot you earn for a specific gun and kill streaks are still the most emphasized attribute, more than playing the game mode. With all the drama involving IW you would think they would have dished out something spectacular this year. If you liked MW2, this game will keep you moving forward. IMO, I felt W@W & Black Ops were rushed, unfinished, unpolished, & poorly made, & all the negatives that were in those two games, have resurfaced in MW3, and then some. A whole lot of and then some. I'm not going to go into all the problems, but trust me. It may look like a MW game, it may sound like MW, heck, it may even smell like MW, but this trash doesn't deserve to hold the title that has come to represent an overall excellent gaming experience as far as FPS go. Once you get into this game & checking under the hood, You'll see things don't work like they should. So, so many things are just "off" and broken.
Everyone is intitled to their opinions, but to all game reviewers that have said "This is the best Call of Duty yet." I'm sorry but either you're Full of Poop, got paid for your endorsement of this game, or have never played a video game before in your life. I've never bothered to write a review about anything, but I am so letdown, so regretting that I bought this garbage, & so disheartened with the C.O.D. series at this point, I have to say something & hope someone will listen. I know a lot of people worked hard to make this game, but bottom line, obviously the heart & soul of the IW crew that made Call of Duty: Modern Warfare such an event in the gaming world, left due to the fallout with Activision, and they took with them the know how & quality of the series. I would rather go to sleep at the steering wheel then to play another 5 minutes of this game, constant bugs and glitches, no innovative gameplay, at all, just a different way of accessing your killstreaks and perks and weapons, but overall the game feels cliched, and exactly like MW2 except more like an expansion pack. So it has to be obvious, the morons are being paid to give this game a good review so that Activision can get and 15 million copies sold. Its starting to become about money and not quality when it comes to Activision, Infinity Ward and Treyarch.

Who ever buys this game and like it, is a very generic human being and has to be put down at once. Way to sad to see peoples lifes rot away as they play MW3

It took me less than three hours to finish the campaign which is nothing more than a run of the mill story that was somewhat hard for me to follow at times. You have the same infinitely spawning enemies that try to kill you before you and your team reaches the objective which just leads to a somewhat dull story telling experience. But in the end 98% of people don't buy the game for the story they buy it for the countless hours of multilayer enjoyment that we all come to love with modern games. Sadly I just don't feel they delivered what we all were expecting when this game was being hyped up. Its the same graphics same sound and unfortunately the same feel as the past two games just with a new name and a brand new game price tag slapped on a box. But it is a structurally solid game and I haven't encountered may bugs that cant be attributed to release day bugs but I just cant get past it having the EXACT same feel as the past two games had. It is a polished MW2. Not a new game worthy of a new title. Everything in the game is stale and unoriginal and a let down for an enthusiast of all the COD titles and FPS shooters. MW3 is a good game. But not the great game that the new Infinity Ward could have produced. Now for some nit-picking on my part- Multiplayer level design resembles Nuke Town on every single map. It concentrates the players in choke points with very few vantage points. There is no strategy except for killstreaks and perks which eliminates any objective for playing a game type. The wide fluctuation of connectivity between players is also dismal and favors frustration. Half the time I have a killer connection. Half the time there is a 2 sec delay. I have a consistent

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
