This is obviously MW2 with some new perks/weapons and maps. The graphics are horrible. Words alone just cannot describe how bad this game is so i'll leave it to this.

I got bored of this game 5 years ago. I can say that. Because nothings changed. Hell they cant even create a New engine to push the series forward. Im all for cyber warfare, See you on the BATTLEIFELD.

They have no time to truly innovate on gameplay mechanics, and even if they did they are to afraid of ruining a good thing to change gameplay too much. This means we - the fans - get regurgitated content year after year, and I quite frankly am not interested in that.

What I AM interested in is a new call of duty game engine, a true cover system, and gameplay mechanics that will give me pause and think "wow, that was cool." The only reason why I bought this was for the multiplayer, to be honest, but I think I am going to hold off on buying any more Call of Duty games until they show me they can bring something different to the table. Scrap the old game engine. It has had its day, but its day is done. Put a new game engine in, and push yourself to innovate a tired genre. The folks over there at DICE are on the right track, I think.

I will admit I love Battlefield 3 and have arguments with a friend between both games, so I'm sure this game play appeals to someone, but that someone is not me. When I initially started the multiplayer, I chose a M4 and I was being killed, spawn killed, and out shot left and right. My friend reminded me to play "call of duty style" which is sub machine gun and run around. Sadly, I turned my brain off to play this game. This game needs work, but I don't know what all they can do to make it better. Expand

This game is so overrated. Most of us played this in 2007 and they are selling the same 4 years ago and everyone buys it. The campaign is worse than the BF3 has (I liked BF3 singleplayer more). The story is like: us 3 ubersoldiers can win the WW3 without any problems. Its so unrealistic. I dont mean that water guns have more recoil than the ones in MW3 but the action is so absurd. I Bought MW3 , installed it to my xbox and went straight into the multiplayer
After 5 hours I removed the disk , put it back in the case and sold it on Amazon.
This game is MW2 with terrible maps and I mean really terrible maps. There isn't a single map that stands out . I am so disappointed with this half hearted rehash of MW2 , I wasn't a massive fan of BLOPS but it's a hell of a lot

Amazing how a franchise is able to make so much money by releasing such horrid games. There story is awful and doesn't give you any sense of realism or emotions, But COD is about their online, that's what makes their games good and unique right? Nope, this is a 60 dollar DLC a complete rip off if you own any other COD then you own this one.

You cut Marathon so objective games take 3 times as long to get back to A, B, and C. That was a deal breaker for me. I remember a day when games came out with expansion packs that only cost a fraction of the base game's price. Now, thanks to Call of Duty they are able to pass expansion packs off as sequels and charge full price. MW3 should change it's title to MW1.3 since it's nothing but the same recycled content we paid for in 2007 when Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was released.

Listen, We've all played CoD before. Be it, 4, MW2, Black Ops, what ever one, we've played them. If you have ever spent $60 on one of these games, you will understand a few things. The singleplayer, is a short, albeit well done, action thrillride on steroide while having a herpes flare up. Its angry, its mean, it's "America." Besides all of the Achievements/trophies, the game has little replay value. Survival, although it may be fun at first, is the same "Horde" game mode, we've been playing since Gears of War 2. I swear to God, every game has it. Gears of War 2, 3, Uncharted 2, 3, Halo Reach Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (Onslaught DLC), Left 4 Dead, 2, Counter Strike (Mods),Call of Duty: 4 (PC), World at War, Black Ops, THE LIST GOES ON. So, "Survival" mode, not getting any points for Creativity or Originality. Now, the Multiplayer, OH the multiplayer. I myself have played more Call of Duty multiplayer that any one person would need to. I have experience in this game, and other FPS's and I can honestly say, that this game has the same terrible mechanics, spawns, weapons and problems as all other call of duty games. Lastly, CoD Elite is behind the times. Bungie.net, Battlelog.battlefield.com, and other stat tracking services do the same or better things as Elite, but for free. All in all, if you've never played a CoD before, you might want to consider it, because there is some fun to be had. Everyone else, you're a fool if you buy this. Expand

The kill streaks are different, but not better. They are just different. I find my self getting bored of the repetitiveness of the game in about 5 min. Spawn, get s pawn killed. Respawn and go find the guy who spawn killed you in a corner, kill him and die again. Repeat. I know its a continuation of the story and they can not create a whole new setting and all, but it really feels like they didn't even try. Ridiculously shorter and shorter over-scripted single-player campaigns, more and more expensive map packs, more and more money spent in marketing and ZERO in new ideas, more and more 12 years old morons playing online, more and more "yankee save the world!! 1.Old Game New Polish
they advertised this game like it was the greatest thing to happen to the cod series and let me say its really not. it made world at war and black ops both look decent.(which we all know they were terrible). Graphics are the same as the last 2 MWs and aren't that much better in HD or PC versions which was really disappointing at least BF Upped their game.

    2.ITS CALLED DEDICATED SERVERS.
You would think with all the complaints they probably got about the fact that this game has always had problems lagging and host being an issue of abuse that they would fix it. Again it didn't happen in fact its a little worse. In my eyes there is nothing worse then shooting at someone and you die instantly only to watch the kill cam and see that he was looking at you a whole 1.5 seconds before he appeared on your screen. that's very irritating because i hate having my kill streak stopped short because of lag and hosting issues not to mention we are all sick of getting a loss on our record because some kid rage quits and turns his Xbox off taking everyone back to their own lobbies and everyone getting a loss because of one person.

3.Small Maps and Flawed Spawn System
OK im a fan of balanced maps and not having maps so big that a sniper can pick you off from extremely far away before you even know what hit you. but if your going to have these kind of small maps then there needs to be a fix in the spawn system. it is impossible to keep a streak because of the random spawn points in not just TDM or Kill Conformed but in all of the game types across the board. how is it that every time i engage in battle with one person no where near there initial spawn point does a kid pop up next to me and pick me off that is just annoying and unpleasant and hopefully will be patched SOON!!!

    4. MODDERS AND HACKERS
I know im not the only one who loves leader boards and i know im not the only one to complain on how a billion dollar company cant manage such a small thing. you cant make leader boards and put out there how awesome it is or what a feat it would be to be on them if they are filled with kids who don't leave their basements and just mod and hack all day making the game for the rest of us a little bit less enjoyable stop being lazy and use some of our hard earned money that we put in your pocket and swing a banhammer please and thank you.

    5.Kill Streaks
I don't know about you but there was nothing more satisfying to me then dropping a nuke after avoiding death for 25 kills(not camping) or how you could drop a predator missile, harrier strike, and then call in your pave low or ac130 and cause havoc for a pretty decent period of time. all that has been wiped away it seems in the blink of an eye with a care package being the best kill streak you can get. this is also dumb because if you use it you cant collect any of the care packages so its pretty much for your team mates and it can be shot down with one stinger before it drops anything so what a waste. the M.O.A.B. after 25 kills is OK but its not a game changer because ive still won games while being on the losing end of it so how is that an accomplishment if people can still destroy you when its activated? also i can tell the ac130 time has been reduced which is not cool. all in all i don't get excited anymore when i get any type of kill streak which is suppose to be the most exciting part of the game.

    6.Weapons
The weapons in this game are ridiculously unbalanced. i know i know the higher you get the better the weapons but i remember when even the low level weapons gave you a little bit of a fighting chance but now its an uphill climb until you get the type 95(pretty much the famas) and that gun is better then most if not all the guns you unlock after that. the noob tube has been nerfed a lot which is OK but it still makes it so everyone either camps in a corner with the new overpowered 50 cal sniper or runs around with the type 95 there is no variety with the weapons anymore and its sad.

So all in all the game is what you can expect from the broken sequels of the original cod. Hopefully the developers will realize that we spend our hard earned money to pay for these games and the least they can do is give us a game that feels like an actual game and not like DLC or a polished terd.

If you have played any COD game, you will know exactly what to expect with MW3 (if it ain't broke don't fix it), and some might think thats a good thing, but it isn't. If you're like me and have put countless hours into COD, you're probably looking for some cool new stuff for MP, some innovative game mode or KSR or something....ANYTHING, but no, basically nothing has changed since the last instalment.

If you have been living in a cave and never played a COD game, then you'll probably enjoy MW3, however if you have played COD before, I can almost guarantee, that the novelty of a few new KSR and guns will ware off pretty quick.

Multi-player lags constantly. Map design is terrible. The guns sound like someone threw a box of cutlery down some stairs, (peeew pheeew rattle rattle pheew) COD Elite, cost the same as the full game, and doesn't work.
Hit detection is so bad its actually funny.
    Bullets can turn corners apparently.
Health seems to be 75% of what it was in every other COD game.
Shotguns are a two shot kill from point blank range.

IW's answer to zombies, is survival mode, and its not a patch on zombies.

I honestly wanted this to be a great game. COD4 was excellent, MW2 was frustrating at best, so I was hoping they would have learned something from that and make MW3 as close to COD4 as possible with improved graphics and a different engine. Nope

I didn't think COD could get any worse than BlackOp's, and sadly I was wrong.

If you have played COD before, then this game is not even worth renting, If you have never played COD before, rent it, you might enjoy it for a few hours.

The campaign is forgettable, the tweener modes offer little, but the MP, which is where CoD should shine is truly awful. Not only has IW made the same mistakes as with MW2, they've compounded them. More game dominating killstreaks on even smaller, more cluttered maps. An FPS should be dominated by first person shooting, not an endless rain of remote control death from the sky.

Anyone else who's looking for innovation or, at the very least having long existing issues addressed should look elsewhere. From the trend established by the past few releases in the series, Modern Warfare 3 is pretty much what I expected - and that's not a good thing.

The single player, briefly, is solid, but not spectacular. If you've played the previous Modern Warfare title's campaign's, you know what to expect - shoot infinite enemies emerging from invisible monster closets until you move to the right trigger point to make them come from another one. Eventually make it to large setpiece explosion/event and repeat. The multiplayer isn't even this good (if we can even use that word).

The multiplayer actually feels like a step backward. The menus are clunky and feel thrown together, but this is just the first hint of crappiness to come. The maps feel like thrown-together paintball arenas rather than locations that would exist in real life. The developers forced obstacles, alleyways and staircases where they don't make sense, just to create more chaos - and not the good kind. Maps feel maze-like, and combined with the random spawn system there is little room for any kind of cohesive, team-oriented strategy. The best case scenerio still ends up being some strange hybrid of free for all and team deathmatch. All too often you find yourself shot in the back by someone who just spawned behind you mere seconds ago, often from an area you though that you'd just cleared. But perhaps the most infuriating aspect of multiplayer is the over performance of the gameplay. In spite of the billions of dollars made on this franchise, Activision refuses to invest in dedicated servers on consoles. This leaves players at the mercy of whatever local host is chosen, and more often than not, it's not pleasant. Lag and shoddy hit detection are not only common, but present the vast majority of the time. There's always at least a few players (if not the entire opposing team) that can survive multiple headshots, 8-12 chest shots or sometimes even have the ability to allow bullets to pass right through them from 2 feet away. On the other hand, enemies kill you around corners, knife you even though the slashed it with their back to you and 3 feet away, or in spite of their near invincibility, you'll find yourself shooting first, hitting (multiple times) first, yet still end up dead via 2 shots to the leg (after yourself registering multiple shots to the body and/or head). The multiplayer is broken, and given that this is the primary reason for purchase for most players, I feel not only disappointed, but ripped off.

A big gripe I have on MW3 is the MP maps. It's impossible to go 30 seconds without taking a grenade, getting shot in the back or anything of that nature. I was optimistic when I bought this game thinking they'd be innovative and introduce new features. However, the features they introduced were even more user friendly, every game theres a UAV every minute, helicopter killing you when you walk outside it really dampens the multiplayer experience. There's just so much familiarity even dating back to Call of Duty 4, it gets old so fast. It's a basic expansion pack that shouldnt be charged 60$, its insane to me. I dont see why gamers dont appreciate more innovation rather than more maps, weapons, "killstreak features". I regret buying this game it's the exact same as all the Call of Duty's. Expand

This game is a rehash and its pretty much solidifying the fact that gaming is dying. Every year expect more and more of these things to come out, receive inflated scores by paid off reviewers, and for them to break all sorts of retail records. COD is the new Madden of our time, only difference is it changes even less between installments.

In general it is a good quality game - though basically the same as the previous ones. The biggest problem continues to be the XBOX live play. It suffers from individual connection speed. If you have a top notch internet provider you reign supreme. But for the rest of us it is rather dissatisfying since you are killed even before you see your opponent!

Remember when CoD4:MW came out? I do. It was incredible and set many standards for today's FPS. Skip ahead to MW2 (treyarch doesn't make real AAA games), the nuke was cool the first couple times you got it, but then there wasn't much new outside of broken Perks and gun combos, and then the SP got out of control story wise and online had quality issues. Now jump back to today (I'm skipping Blops because Treyarch is a terrible developer for various reasons), 4 hours, 4 hours to complete the SP at my casual pace, what a JOKE, just like it's quality. It wasn't "heart racing" or any catch phrase like that, it was a mess, no direction, and flat out boring. MP is a hot mess right now. So many bugs and glitches. So many disconnects, "host migrating", and lag. So much lag it can make the ridiculously large hitboxes and autoaim seem even more absurd. Infinity Ward and company took Stalin's philosophy on here with the maps: "Quantity has a quality of it's very own". Yes, there's a great number of maps, but considering how small and poorly laid out they are, of course they can put so many maps in there when each were probably designed during a sandwich break on a napkin. The perk system is once again a mess and we all know what everyone will be complaining about already. The one and single shiny stone to be found in MP is "Kill Confirmed", and it would be incredible to play if the game wasn't having so many issues along with the poor map design. And of course, the horrible legally retarded respawn system is back.

Graphically, the game is something I'd expect not from an AAA title, but a B-class. The Quake engine is laughably dated now, and they've already put lipstick, blush, eyeliner, and eye shadow on that pig. It doesn't hold 60fps on consoles steady, seemingly halving itself at times even on the 360, and it runs at sub-HD resolutions. "Well just get the PC version". You want me to go there? Ok. Anyone who bought this game for PC is going to be walking funny for a week or two. NO FoV, muddy textures, "boxy effects", mouse aiming issues, and the worst slap in the face is coming, "Dedicated Servers". Yay I thought. Nope, Chuck Testa. They're only available in non-ranked play. The PC version of this game is a literal SLAP in the face of PC gamers.

Battlefield 3 has it's fair share of issues, but you can tell there's love to be found in that game, even by DICE's own usual sub-quality support efforts of the past. The SP is insulting to play in both, but at least BF3's MP has a quality to it in nearly every regard. Can't say the same here for MW3.

MW3 PROVES without a shadow of a doubt how corrupt "gaming journalists/critics" are. This game is a solid 5 or 6 at best. Take into consideration how much money this series makes, where does it go for the end user? No where, it goes into the pockets of the suits at Activision. There's no excuse for an AAA-title like this to be in the 5-6 range, and thus I'm docking points because I feel Activision is insulting it's userbase here by not putting that money back in to work for their FPS cash-cow. And finally, I'm docking points for how horrible the PC version is, as it's disgusting how they treated that userbase.

This game was in a whole a shining example of what is wrong with Activision, the developers, and the media. If the videogame market crashes again, this title will be the poster child of what's wrong in the industry.

I don't know why its so hard to simply produce high quality textures and graphic components and then downscale for the obsolete consoles, but it seems that this game takes the opposite approach: which is why a graphics card that you could buy for $50 four years ago (the Nvidia 8600) is still the required card. Despite what the "recommended" stats might suggest, there's no more eye candy for those with a better system- just higher framerates for those who see 60 frames per second and up. This wouldn't be such an issue if the gameplay or story was involving, but its not. Overall, a mediocre if competent clone.â Expand

I've gone positive twice out of hundreds of matches. My skills haven't changed but this game has. Being killed in THREE bullets no matter the gun means that as soon as you take damage it's a death sentence. And with a mess of kill streaks there seems to be no balance as your pummeled by a million random things making it impossible to keep a "point streak" going in anything other than a support class. (doesn't reset after death.) Your movement speed is awkward as hell. The garbage all over every level makes it difficult to pick people out. And I die a lot. Not because I'm a noob but cuz I feel this game is broken. MW2 was broken with one man army noobtube but did they fix it? Nope. Will they fix this game? Probably not. The way this game is set up is to reward the camper. Because running and gunning isn't possible as you'll lose almost all one on one fights trying to run around. I can't camp. I'm just not that type of player and see no fun in it.

With all my friends who converted to BF3 I held out my judgement and said c'mon guys give this game a chance. COD is fun arcade like fast paced action game. How could they have gone wrong? Well they did. I will be trading this game in next week and I will be waiting for treyarch's black ops 2 hoping that the series that I love isn't completely gone and that a decent about of balance and regular updating that made the game fair, balanced, and fun will return.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To be honest, the graphics of this game are really disgusting. When you have a franchise that make as much money as COD, you owe your fans to improve the game ever after when you release a FULL game. Players shouldn't have an impression of "deja vu". When you play a game, you want a fresh new experience, innovations, something catchy that will make you hold to it for a long time. This game does not fulfill my expectations of what a good game is. Markating my friend, is what make this game live nowadays. For me, and apparently for alot of people, Cod era is revolved. Let's move on to something new, something good. Expand

This is the same game fourth time around. Next to nothing has changed since COD 4's release in 2007. MW3 is just not worth its 60$ price tag. If this game was an expansion pack to MW2, I would gladly purchase it. Even if they had just made it a 40$ game, It would be better.

MW3 it's a copy paste from CoD 4 and MW2. The survivors mode it's similar to the Training Room of Black Ops. And MW3 publicity has been really bad. I remember the Launch video of MW2 with "Till i collapse Remix" . If you no has played MW3, don't worry... you don't lost nothing.

And if you thought the spawns in MW2 were bad, you are going to be downright infuriated with this game. You can literally watch a person spawn in front of you, and one second you are facing the enemy spawn and the next they are quiet literally ten feet behind you. Call of Duty was the only game I ever played. I loved Modern Warfare 2. However for this game, I'm getting pretty close to saying I hate it.

Besides maps and spawns, this game is more Like a Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 1.8, not even two. If you hadnt ever played number 2 or 3 before, you would have thought mw2 was newer. They were too lazy to even keep Black Ops' changes. They didn't even keep the fact that the amount of points you get off assists depends on the damage you inflict. Its back to a set 20 points again!!! And as for last stand, If you put a person in last stand, and then a teammate kills them from there, that teammate gets the kill! The were soooo dependent on the mw2 format that the didn't even bother going back to make the changes that black ops made for the better.

I always thought Treyarch made the trash call of duties, but Activision, I want them back. Badly.
...At least they tried, and I appreciate that... I just feel betrayed on this game...

I picked this one up mainly because all of my friends were. This is once again, another busy holiday season with tons of games coming out and the quest for finding that 1 or 2 that standout is the tricky part. I first went through the campaign. I was excited about it because MW2's IMO was great! it was fun, and the story did fully flesh out and complete itself, but it was predictable. The trailers showed way to much that it became easy to piece 1 & 1 together. Also, where MW had the AC-130 scene, MW2 had the boat chase and breaches, this game recycles both of those in ways that aren't very entertaining. It is like going into a Michael Bay movie and thinking that there won't be explosions. Not that it is all bad, but it seems like when the creative team at Infinity Ward left, they took the best talent for originality. Some of the levels feel recycled from previous versions of single player except they are in different parts of the world. Even that is lost. Its like they took random famous bits of architecture and threw it on a generic map. The special ops mode in this game is almost identical, just on different maps. it seems like almost every one is either blowing something up, or going after some generic leader. The survival mode adds a few new things to the mix, but instead of reinventing the wheel, all it does it change it from a wagon wheel to something with a little more shine. The multiplayer that is so well know and loved in the COD series is back and still has just as many problems as ever, just given that new car smell to try and avoid exposure to the many flaws. Quick scoping, drop shotting, strike packages (aka kill streaks) are abused even more so than all the previous installments. The community is full of underage children that like to complain and try whispering the occasional profane word to try and boost the e-ego. The hit detection is still off as I somehow missed a player that was away from the system from about 3 foot away. It shows when in a hot gunfight and a player misses your head, yet gets a headshot. It is a very annoying code error. Lastly, they still need to fix the servers to try and reduce he atrocious lag. Lag is still a veteran COD players worst enemy. Probably even worse than all the people actually playing on the map. This is a game that I strongly suggest trying before buying. It might be a game for you, but personally I think I am going back to MW2. At least the maps were better... Expand

Multiplayer is very popular for the series and I can understand why, its fast paced and it offers many incentives for hours of play time. They don't really add anything new this time around, however they do ad more of the same thing, which isn't a bad thing unless you've already played the other games in the series. Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
