I have played MW and battlefield games the past few years. I was excited for both this and bf3. So far I have loved battlefield. I have played this for almost 12 hours and can say I am not a fan. It is the same thing I have played forever, looks and it doesn't even feel as good to play. I would say try it if you like past games but don't get your hopes up. I am trading it on craigslist.

This game deserves no credit at all. Its running on an idea and engine almost 5 years old. If u think thats what ur money is worth, go ahead, but the game is crap and will always be. I think its time to put an end to this very disturbing reality where developers get away with things like these, so please think twice before buying rehashed crap that will only lead to more abusive companies.

Actually Impressed! It was better than i though it would be, really! Obviously it still sucks, no real destruction or vehicles. The graphics are not bad, but it still feels like Modern Warfare 2 :( The only reason it has awesome sales is cause there's tons of little 10 year old kids who are just followers and want to be really bad ass playing Cod.. makes me never want to buy another one!

The multiplayer is.... wrong. The gun perspectives look strange, animations are stale, and the sounds are horrible. Elite isnt revolutionary enough to need a whole team behind it. Expect the exact same game, with similar animations etc. I guess you could say that you will pay to keep playing MW2 with a new campaign and weapons. DLC material. Too short, a little lacklustre. Dont believe the reviews, I reckon that they are payed and they kind of tricked me. I knew this was coming and i got it cheap but I still feel a little wronged . Of course, I still have BF3 to keep me busy, but expect similar problems (except with multi and coop, they are flawless) but the campaign was a ltittle strange. I wont elaborate on the IW engine and the Frostbite 2 one, because this is not a rant, although i dont give details. The IW engine is borderline ok; it still looks fine, and there is a clear 60fps being consistent , but it shows that its a bad effort, as the swift controls and user friendly design was done badly on MW3.
Look at the user reviews; take away around a quarter from pos and neg and you get rid of the fanboy crap. Still its bad. Activision knew that this would happen, considering Black ops had also bombed in actual worthiness so they hyped up MW3 with advertising and paying off reviewers eh.
Expect a **** of kids who will infuriate you with obviously better guns. Expect to be screaming at the tubers and cheap deaths. Instead of ridding the MW franchise of the stupid kids its embellished it. If you love to the point that its all you talked about on Nov 7, buy it, Otherwise dont. It couldve been so much more, but it wasnt. (I bought this on the pc but its the same.) Kids will flood it, ruin it, but if you are 12 go nuts.

The death streak perk unlocked at first is strange and awkward, as your screen bobbles uncontrollably... and mixed with the shotgun, it's something to laugh at. Ah, yes, when I heard the sound of the guns and saw most of the guns (M4), I laughed out loud. Unintentional, but I laughed. I expected this gameplay to be decent, like most other Call of Duty's, but I didn't expect it to be this bad. It's a terrible mess. No innovation whatsoever. You can change the perks and killstreaks, but it doesn't change the fact the game feels exactly the same, except for the slow, quicksand feeling when you run, but looks worse. Activision bragged about fast-paced gameplay at 60fps, huh? Not nearly as fast-paced as before, and the dedicated servers lag worse than most servers. Singleplayer was garbage. The only thing I found was tons of fun was the new Juggernaut gametype, Infection, and Survival. But that's something they stole from another game. *ahem* Kind of like theater mode. Expand

This game suffers from digital schizophrenia. On the one hand you have truly brilliant set pieces in tight controlled environments against intelligent enemies, and on the other MUCH larger hand you have monotonous fire fight campaigns where you repeatedly shoot the same combat armour clad bad guys who respawn just off of screen. As a headline that sums this game up quite well.

I should stop at this point to say that I was a massive fan of the original MW. It came out at a time when 99% of big name console FPS releases were set squarely in WW2, it broke a trend that had led me to stop buying first person shooters because I had pretty much seen it all before. Cod4 for me revolutionised how stories were told in gaming from the opening sequence where you took the role of Yasir Al-Fulani being bundled into a car, with the player having no real idea of where you were going but having no doubt that it would be bad, to playing Sgt Paul Jackson for a fair portion of the game only to end up crawling out of a downed chinook after a nuclear strike and inevitably dying in the street, it shook up the tired formula that had persisted to that point. In MW2 these devices were evolved continued to be used with great effect. Very few of us saw our eventual betrayal at the hands of Gen Shepherd coming, I know it annoyed me when Roach was killed (in a good way) and for a game to actually raise some sort of emotion in a 'meh' generation gamer was quite an achievement. I make these points because they show how great the series has been, and they best illustrate how poor a successor MW3 really is. To get the most grating bit for me out of the way first, the story is a mish-mash at best, you find yourself jumping from body to body so frequently you never really have the time to learn the characters name, let alone care about them. As mentioned when Roach was shot and set on fire I was physically annoyed as it was my character that I'd plodded through the story with and started to identify. This time round within an hour a Russian body guard you've played as for all of five minutes cops a bullet in the chest and you barely blink. I personally couldn't care because I had no attachment to this faceless, voiceless and might as well be nameless bodyguard, for all I knew he could be a kitten strangler and being wasted was just karma catching up with him. As a side note these twist are a double edged sword, why am I forced to keep a guy alive if he's just going to die in 5 minutes anyway? In MW2 and MW3 both times this happens there are plenty of other NPC's who could complete the objective for me so why is it so important that I make it to the precise point death is waiting for me? Anyhow...

Another character I couldn't care less about is Yuri, another faceless, voiceless nobody who you play through the (let's face it, better) task force 141 campaign. It seems like a real mis-step after having played the brilliantly paced back end of MW2 as Soap, to dump you in the body of someone else to view him from afar. It's not that I'm in love with Soap, I just admire the budding bro-mance between him and Price, and to have to sit as the third wheel watching that manly love blossom kills me. So that's a some of the bad out of the way (I can't be bothered to point out the obvious that killing wave after wave of identi-kit bad guys until you reach the checkpoint that magically halts their spawn gets real boring real quick) I'll move on to the good, and that is the set pieces. They are parts of this game that still have some magic left. A personal favourite was scuttling and hijacking a Russian nuclear sub, using it's missiles to sink the rest of the Russian fleet and then escaping on a Zodiac and driving (do you drive a boat?) right into the loading bay of a waiting helicopter. It was a spectacle and handled in a way that made you feel pretty bad ass, but that was ten bright, shiny minutes from an hours grey and boring gameplay. And that's why this game deserves such a low score, for every stand out moment there's 5 dull missions you drudge through as quickly as you can to try to get to them. This game isn't a revolution, it isn't even a evolution of the previous titles, it's emulation of MW's much earlier greats and that's why those calling it Modern Warfare 2.5 have summed this game up better than I ever could.

While camping in previous games typically allowed a gamer to get low deaths and moderate amount of kills, while those running could rack up high kills with moderate deaths. Those running in most of these maps end up with only moderate high kills and moderate to high deaths while campers have high kills and low deaths. Guns barely kick and are pretty unreaslistic. Should be called Modern Warfare 2.00001. Graphics are same as they were for MW2, the gun customization and call signs seem smaller and worse than MW2. Maps also seem smaller and uninspired, and there is evidence that they have recycled buildings from previous COD's. Feel like I wasted 60 dollars on what should have been a DLC. I have never been so disappointed in a new game purchase this big, ever... While it still feels Modern Warfarish, it definitely is too fast paced now, to the point of just complete chaos. Skill is no longer a requirement, but luck of spawn is. They have yet to fix the spawn system, even though this is the 3rd generation of the game. If you aren't spawned in front of an enemy, there is another one in any direction in front of you. This leads me to map design, the maps are fairly small compared to previous games, and there aren't any real good ones that make you excited to see the map again. They even feel as though someone else designed them, which leads me to believe the guys that left Infinity Ward during production, really didn't have much of a hand in the map design. Lastly, I feel like I'm back in the same grind of the first 2 games, it doesn't feel fresh and new like it once did, which might be expected and not all bad, but it really causes one to loose interest quicker. I wish I could say more good things about the game, but I truely am disappointed, there just isn't alot of consistency in this games multiplayer, and playing it really feels like an old quake multiplayer match but with too many players. I think I'll be returning this on Friday towards Skyrim. Expand

Activision's desire for a yearly release gives the developers no time for any real innovation or enough time for a new engine, this is what lets down this game. It's no longer fun to pay for a brand new game, along with 3 compulsory map packs or the elite subscription if you wish to avoid being 'kicked' from MP games, its becoming greedy. The included maps are tacky, small and repedative from my experience on them, and alas, it is clear that IW haven't listened to fans as the dreaded 'Noob Tube' returns as an early unlock which is perhaps my least favourite thing about call of duty. Graphics (7.5/10): Perhaps not as good as MW2, but a clear step up from Black Ops, the engine however doesn't allow for the dynamic lighting that some rivals to this franchise and the textures are clearly copy and pasted from earlier games. As usual, the guns look great themselves, the few high quality textures are devoted to firearms which look much better than anything else, albeit, not quite as good as BF3. One thing I really like is the 60fps, it leaves the game play smooth at all times, and never seems to dip.

Sound (1/10): Pathetic is the only way to describe them, unrealistic and completely wrong gun sounds return. There are also no dynamic sounds, so a sniper rifle on the other side of a map, 3 blocks away, sounds the same as if it were 5 metres away. Very, very dissappointing.

Multiplayer (4/10): A quote from MW2: "Same stuff, different day", which is a perfect description of the multiplayer aspect of MW3....its nearly IDENTICAL! Some different guns, some not, same sounds, slightly redesigned maps, same game modes practically. There is a huge hype behind "Kill Confirmed" mode, which would be great for a communicating team, however, I'm told that this has been taken from Crysis 2 (not 100% sure on that) plus a slightly different version of CTF. These add little to the game. The same stupid killsteaks, including the annoying Juggernaught that appeared in spec ops last time. Again, in a few months time, be prepared to shell out the MS point equivilent of US$15/$AU23 for the first of 3 map packs that if avoided will see you kicked from every server (or $50 for the elite service). The maps too, all seem identical bar the NYC map, which, combined with the tiny size ( 6 players per team max usually and the playing area is tiny) leaves one bored VERY quickly. Ah yes, to allow for new and unskilled players, noob tube returns from its nerfing in Black Ops to again leave me wanting to tear my hair out in frustration. "Quickscoping", another frustrating 'innovation' has returned to haunt me, an exploit of the over-helpful aim assist. The P2P servers are a clear step down from dedicated ones, they limit the number of players and lag like hell in Australia, I hate it, it's not as fun as past games.

Offline (3/10): Meh, another over the top, unoriginal story. Unbelievably short, finished on easy in 4 and half hours, contrary to most "professional" critics who say it takes 8. However, at least IW tried to do something new with a rip off of zombies along with some more co-op spec ops, however, no co-op will ever compare to Treyarch's Zombies. As a whole, the offline component appears half baked and tired.

Overall, I was going to give this game 6 or 7 out of 10, however seeing as its part of a series, it is a rediculous copy of the last one, hence its low rating. The "professional" critics who raved so highly need to get a grip and loose their bias, as a once CoD fanboy myself, I am very disappointed and will be trying out BF3 in the near future as I return this 'new' game. A pathetic money grab, if you enjoy CoD, play MW2 or MW1, they're by far better than this.

Every facet of the game is recycled, save for one or two new game modes, which are just slight variations of other game types that add nothing to the experience. The few new perks only enhance the lazy, fearful method of camping in the multiplayer, making it all the more easy for campers (read as 99% of the community) to play the game their way, creating an unfair playing ground for people who want to actually play. Adding even more crap to the steaming dumpster pile this game is is the fact that almost all of the maps feature cluttered messes littering the world, making it impossile to get around with any sort of sense. I guess learning where all the little pieces of junk you can trip on can help, but doing so would not be easy or fun. The game itself is not unplayable from a coding point of view, but the way people play do.

Not totally the developer's fault, Modern Warfare 3 leaves a lot to be desired. The game feels like a precursor to the original in terms of playability, and adds only features that grant cheap players the ability to play even more cheaply. Overall score: 2 out of 10

Single-player is the exact same thing as before. The one, very short experience up in the AC-130 was the most enjoyable thing in the game, and it was nowhere near as fun as in MW2. Outside of that, you're basically jumping between random characters in different countries doing whatever is necessary to make the story appear to move forward. I enjoyed the way things progressed through MW2, because there were some neat aspects to it in addition to the AC-130 mission, like the Zahkaev sniping mission where you're in a very tall building a long way off, or when you had to protect your sniper buddy in Chernobyl, or storming an enemy compound with Soap during a snowstorm. MW3 is not innovative like this in any way. It brings absolutely ZERO newness to the table. Like everyone has said, they basically copied what they did with MW2, threw a low-budget, cookie cutter movie sequel story line on it, stole some multiplayer aspects from other games, made them all worse, and renamed them so they would appear fresh and new.

My advice? If you haven't yet bought this atrocity, buy Skyrim on 11/11/11 and enjoy what will surely be countless hours of actual innovation and gameplay.

I admit, with Black Ops I was getting a bit bored towards the end. I picked up MW3 though as I genuinely enjoy the single player campaign and wanted to see how the story ends (I know, crazy, right?! Right?! Someone plays the single player??). Anyways, I found the single player to be marred with a major flaw; infinite enemies and an on-rails campaign. Infinite meaning if you stay in one spot and don't progress on your "rail" - the enemies will keep coming and coming...annnd coming. Remember the vietnam like level in Black Ops when you have to progress down and up the hill and take cover in the trenches? Yeah, it's like that....all the time.

The graphics are essentially the same as we've been accustomed to since the original Modern Warfare. Biggest difference I can spot is they seem to have an extra coat of shine on them and seem a bit crisper and sharper. However, the engine is definitely starting to show it's age and is in dire need of an update when compared to more recent games (except Homefront lol).

Multiplayer: I've spend about 10 hours online and the new Confirm a kill is a refreshing change although it was done in Crysis 2 with the dog tag collection. Seems to be a bit less camping than usual and a bit of teamwork involved as anyone on your team can collect the dog-tags. It also results in a mad rush to steal dog tags that you've earned by killing opponents. Hit and miss, can be great fun if no one ganks your hard earned dog tags as you're running to collect them.

The running also seems to have changed a bit. It feels a lot more jerky when you go into a sprint than previous games. Doesn't seem as smooth and it feels like they've reduced your sprint time.

Sound: This is my biggest beef with the game. The guns sound so weak this time around. I don't know what they've done in the sound department, but all the weapons just sound so muffled. I don't feel like I'm firing an AK-47. I feel like I'm firing a paintball gun. The noise is just pathetic.

Bottom line: This will be my last Call of Duty game until I see a substantial update from IW or Treyarch. The formula seems to be growing stale. If I didn't know that MW3 was out and a friend showed this game to me while they were playing some multiplayer; I would have assumed that he or she were playing MW2 on a map pack that I never downloaded during my excessive stint in the online portion of MW2.

I got Battlefield 3 at the Midnight Release played and loved the new engine, got MW3 release day and loved the gameplay when i got used to it, different from Black Ops. I grew up on great tactical shooters like Rainbow Six, Counter Strike, and Operation Flashpoint and Call of Duty does not have that feel at all, choke points are easy as hell to control and the maps are super linear. The added verticality of the maps, do not change the style of gameplay from other cods. Campaign is meant to blow you away with its over the top Michael Bay action, but in the end the infinite spawning, been there done that story, and anti-climatic ending bring it down. The multiplayer is weak, yet fun and very enjoyable, but guns like the type 95, Scar-L, and ACR added with profiencies, become overpowered and completely unbalanced. The new Killstreaks are a plus, but IMO the maps Downturn, Village, and Arkaden have too much going on with debris to try and force an illusion on having them be non linear. Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer completely screwed over the free range of motion that your used too in MW1+2 and Black Ops, ur constantly getting stuck on Barrels pipes and pillars that stick out from the walls and ground, ending up in death. Graphics and sound are subpar that they cant even be explained and the 60 fps compared to bf3 30 fps doesnt make a difference idk why IW likes to brag about 60fps.

Gameplay-4- Spec Ops shoould be 4 players, story isnt that much better than BF3, and Mp is always CoD forte.

Graphics-0- Game looks just like MW2(2007), Crysis 1+2, BF Bad Company 1+2, BF3, all blow this engine out of the water. Physics are terrible, I would atleast expect Grenades to crack plywood in half.

Sound-1- voice acting is ok, but the MP communication is terrible best to stay in Party Chat, and the gun sounds are terrible just copy and paste or Foley once again BF3 blows it out of the water.

Lasting appeal-6- the prestiges and Spec Ops are going to keep you well going lol for a while

Conclusion- Imo as Battlefield is the better game, Call of Duty is just as fun, but the lack of innovation and upgrades are bringing it down, and if Infinity Ward doesn't get rid of the Quake Engine and make a new one then this may be the final CoD worth mentioning, and Activision needs to stop with the yearly releases, or else people are going to get sick and tired. If not then Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Rainbow Six: Patriots, Halo 4, and Homefront 2 (now made by Crytek) are going to be chipping away at their Profits and along with Battlefield right in the Rear view it does not look good.

Graphics - 3 (Compared to many games on the market this fairs poorly what would you expect with a lack of innovation)

Gameplay - 3 (Exactly the same as Modern warfare 2. While that gameplay was alright for a period it already feels old)

Sound - 1 ( Almost all the sound is the same from Modern warfare 2. Gun sounds, Ambient noise and the various explosions sound exactly the same. They weren't great to begin with.)

Overall - 2 - A game like this HAS to get slammed for this type of behavior. This is clearly a money grab by Activision. We all knew it would be a copy from Modern warfare 2 but i don't think anyone thought it would be even this bad. This game deserves a 2 for its complete lack of Innovation.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. MW3 was one of the most anticipated titles in years. I didn't get my copy until about 11:00 AM on November 8th, and the was STILL quite a long line at my local Gamestop. Well, after getting home and popping in my copy of MW3, can't tell you how disappointed I was. I can truly say this was the worst effort put in by a game developer for a game with this magnitude. This game is simply the same graphics as MW2, extremely weak story line, and basically nothing has changed on the multiplayer. It amazes me that all the major review agencies, i.e. IGN, Game Informer etc didnt have the grapefruits to give it an accurate review, but I guess at the end of the day its all about $$$$$. And now MW3 game developer Glen Schofield is asking people to go on this site and give it better reviews? Hey moron, how about you make a better game. I hope you will all join me as I go to Gamestop and trade in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. Expand

It had an engaging single player campaign, and fantastic multiplayer. All the CoD iterations since then seem to have just been minor, incremental upgrades, the sort of thing I would normally expect to see in a large patch or expansion pack. The campaigns have gone steadily downhill, and at this point, it feels like even the developers themselves didn't want to include it. They just felt obligated to tack on something on top of their overused multiplayer formula. I remember when CoD was the soldiers story, where it was deeply emotional and involving, and MW3 tries desperately to evoke some of those feelings that it's earlier predecessors brought on, but it falls flat. You can't have a chain of giant explosions, waves of infinitely-spawning enemies being ground up like a woodchipper, hundreds of people dying all around you, and then suddenly expect you to care when one person in particular is killed, only to immediately jump back to screeching guitars and more explosions.

The multiplayer audience is still, as always, not the kind of crowd I would ever want to spend time playing games with. Children, and adults that behave like children, fill the online servers, screaming profanities in my ears. The killstreaks are far from balanced, and it's easy for a single player (who likely hasn't put the controller down since the game came out) to completely dominate the game, racking up dozens of kills while other players can do nothing but spawn and die repeatedly and wait for the game to be over. Sure, you get lots of numbers popping up every time you do anything, and some people find that satisfying. But you know another game that did that? Bulletstorm. And that game was garbage. It was specifically designed to be over-the-top and ridiculous, and MW3 is rapidly approaching that point as well. The difference is, they're not doing it on purpose to be ironic.

Not that it will matter, since tens of millions of you will go out and buy it anyway, but if you have any sense at all, I strongly suggest you avoid this title. Go pick up a copy of CoD 4 on steam, hop on a good server, and have fun, without all the irritation.

You're probably asking yourself, "Why is this such an insult?", and the simplest answer i can give you is that aside from "strike packages" and "survival",nothing has changed. I would put the value of this game at a expensive DLC for MW2. Despite the fact that the game has a new campaign it is incredibly short, I beat it on veteran in under 5 hours. Not to mention the fact that it is almost impossible to not see what is going to happen next, and just about every level consists of shooting hordes of enemy troops that come out of every alleyway, skylight, or some other incredibly obvious route of attack. In only a few levels are you doing anything else (I wont say what specifically but i promise you it is nothing new to this franchise). Getting back to multiplayer, the addition of strike packages is no significant feat and the incredibly unbalanced "support" strike packages destroy the experience, where it is a significant feat to get a juggernaut suit with the assault strike package, the support juggernaut suit doesn't get an M60 but instead a riot shield and USP which makes your very formidable regardless and you dont have to get every kill on a single life you can die as much as you like and on top of this objectives count towards whatever you have on this class. Lastly Spec Ops "Survival" is a very easy "copy paste" job of multiplayer maps with units spawning in waves and simply given the AI that is used in campaign which consists mainly of charge into the player and shoot. It feels like a feeble attempt to copy treyarch's success with zombies. Then your regular spec ops missions are recycled campaign maps with a few changes. Then off to the side of the game itself you have the "Elite" service which can run you just as much as the game itself, which as of now is very buggy and the lack of dedicated servers for multiplayer is simply being cheap (Don't we love it when someone rage quits from the middle of a game and he happens to be host and you lose all progress made during that match). If you're looking to buy the same thing you bought 2 years ago feel free but I implore you to not feed this shoddy remake, it simply isn't worth your time or respect. Expand

But the game has now devolved into everyone just wanting gold guns (really???), dual wielding machine pistols(has this ever been observed in a real life gunfight and worked?), and horrible sportsmanship (12 year olds calling everyone b*tch a*s n*gg*rs?, they shouldn't even play this game, its a mature title!!!!, the user who posted about how other people used to say, "good game" is 100% on the mark here). If you got beat in MW, it was a real win for the other team. They weren't exploiting glitches, lag switching, JTAGging boxes, boosting and modding controllers just to win. They developed their play over TIME to get better and earn their wins. Unfortunately, this game has already been hacked (check out all the modded clan tags...X-Y-A-B buttons already) and exploited. This game fails because Activision has catered to the LOWEST common denominator when developing the game. And it was done intentionally for profit. It has become nothing more than ADHD kids getting their Ritalin fix via an $60 Xbox game. For the players who started with MW/CoD, notice how nobody even bothers to talk anymore during the game? Maybe the problem here is two fold now. Not just a bad game, but a bad gaming community. The two go hand in hand and both fall short. Look at most, not all, but most of the really positive reviews. It is from people who still cannot contain themselves to shout how great they are at this game while you suck. I'm trading mine in for something else. This series has run its course. Expand

The sound design is of low quality, there are clear instances of copy and paste structures and areas from previous MWs, and the new killstreak mechanic for multiplayer is taken out of last year's Medal of Honor. COD 4 was new and interesting, but COD has turned into a perennial has-been. Save your money, and buy any one of the other great games out this fall. Expand

Same game as the previous couple. No real changes. No team needed just run around pointlessly. Never any tension in the games which is very disappointing cause the game mechanics are smooth.

Anyone who says they're not disappointed with this game is either unfamiliar with previous call of duty games and unaware of the level of expectations they command, or is a COD fanboy who will never admit their game is flawed. You already know what everyone is saying (outdated engine, mp levels are boring and repetitive, etc.) and they're saying it because it's true. Worst Call of Duty game to date. It is almost like they repainted MW2 and then dangled a couple of wrinkled carrots in front of our noises that were supposed to be improvements. Overall very disappointed,

What should have been a DLC campaign, and DLC maps has instead been released as a full fledged game for $60. If you had played the previous titles expect no different, LITERALLY. I'm giving this a 2 just because it makes it easy to play with your friends. CoD gets yet another step farther away from what they are. Bad graphics and even worse sound. It seems like they have 10 year olds designing maps and killstreaks.

very bad.....Have been playing MW3 online for a few hours now and it surprised me that a game I wasn't looking forward to, at all, still was able to... disappoint me. Well dedicated servers are even laggier than the P2P ones and when you are prone and aiming down the sight at the same time, you can't move sideways at all. Ah well, the game was meant for people that don't aim anyways. Noobtube is the first default class available when you start the online game up for the first time. Keep hyping his game, it still doesn't change the fact that this is MW2.5 you paid for with your earned money.â Expand

More of the same... Those who control the release of CoD should stop selling these games for full price and should sell them as an expansion pack because that is what it is. This is not worth the $60 they ask you to pay...

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
