Okay, so this is my first time posting on this site and my first time ever really criticizing the call of duty franchise. To be honest, I was really hoping for something awesome here. I gave the last game they sold a pass because I thought they were just going to make up for it on this one. here's the thing, this game is exactly like the last three games I have played. So much so that it takes away from the fun and originality that could have been possible with any amount of risk taking or changes in the game. The fast-pace arcade style game just got even more fast paced, and now feels almost like a cartoon. I mean sure, when your standing still the graphics are pretty amazing, but who stands still in this game? Who even has the skills to stand still in this game? People stop caring about graphics when they are trying to rack up as many kills as possible in a constantly moving dead space. I gave it a try I really did. Maybe I'm growing old (being a huge fan of the ww2 based call of duty 3). I've seen it through the last 7 years, I've watched the COD game creators turn from genius and uninhibited fun makers, to plain Janes - who milk cows dry (for the simple fact they can).

Please, Please, Please change it up and create some kind of monument that amazes the world! Not just another paved road.

Same game slightly different scenery, even more mmo-wanna-be added. This game still cant make up its mind, is it a tactical game? Is it sun and gun? Is it an mmo? In another effort to be everything to everyone it ends up being mediocre at best. There are no tactics, little to no team play, constant un-preventable back dooring, pandering to the lowest common denominator of gamers.

Treyach's black ops is so much better than this. This requires no strategy. Just keep on running and shooting. Plus the menu is much more complex. Black Ops is so much simpler. What not keep a consistent stats? Even the columns for Kills, Death and Assist is diff between Black Ops and MW3. This is not worth the price.

The multiplayer is what made the new string of COD games such a hit. Unfortunately they failed to change the game mechanic wise (i.e. Instant knifing, inaccurate hitboxes, dropshots). What i would have expected after all of the other games is improvement. What many get from this multiplayer are small unthoughtful maps, same grahpics as previous games, and a ball of frustration. Most of the maps are EXTREMELY small and after the first 3 or so minutes, people start spawning near each other and its all very confusing.. you kinda ask yourself , "wait, me and this guy cleared out this area, and then we both got taken out by some guy who just spawned in an area we cleared" This game is a major disappointment. I really do not know why all critics give this game such high review. These game critics do not have taste, because this game is not up to par. Other sequel games out there improve their game each time, but since cod4 the skins of the gun look the same, the map texture looks the same. Little has improved, but i've spent $60 for COD too many times. Expand

Then after much success with MW2 They Relase MW3, and i have to say that online multiplayer sucks majorly, and i dont say this through personal skills and scores, Im not perticularly sure if this game is played on a server or on a host connection, but whatever it is, doesnt work, if you have a slightyly less effective connection than the host, then thats it, your buggared, expect a Low K/D difference. A MAJOR example of this falls on one weapon, the type 95 assult rifle, if you are host, its one hit kill, if you are on a good connection, its one burst kill, and for the rest of us, it takes two bursts IF your able to hit them. Another issue i feel with the maps are that they are majorly small, in comparison with MW2 which had a wide variety, MW3 seems to be all small maps, with the addition of stupid spawn placements due to lack off space, its like Wetwork of Cod4 but shapeshifted to differnt shapes and levels, and this doesnt work, and no doubt map packs are to be released at a stupid amount of MS points. and the hype surrounding this game definatly doesnt live up to the reputation, if anything its been let down from lazyness.

YES the setout for CoD works but NO we dont wanna pay £40 (or respected amounts in other currency) for something that could be relased as DLC with additional maps, guns, kill streaks, and attachments, because other than the Tweaks to the graphics, MW2 feels alot smoother gameplay wise. Recently ive seen people with hacked clan tags too, which shows how lazy they have been at *steeping up security* on the game, yes right now its only a clan tag, but it could easily turn out to have hacked servers, like that period on MW2 where you had automated unlimited noob tubes, i dont feel that the people behind the game take care of us gamers, and that other companies like EA and DICE do listen to the community. the only decent thing which is the only reason why it gets a mark is survival, which is a fun game mode for up to 2 players with much potential to either get better with DLC or broing if its just new maps. overall, if you want a more fruitful online experience, then Battlefield 3 is the way to go. And if you want a predictable end to the franchise then get MW3. #*SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!*# p.s everyone but Captain Price Die, which sucks.

Constantly dying from behind when you just checked that spot a half a second ago. Die so fast there is no time to react. In Black Ops I could turn around and kill the guy half the time, not here, instant death. Three bars is impossible to play with(I have a 25/3.5 connection), bullets have at least a 500 ms delay; one shot deaths, dying before the enemy is even around the corner, pre-fire people just to die instantly, hit detection is horrid (watch theater mode and see your crosshair smack in the middle of his chest without any damage being done). Watch kill cams and half the time your bullets didn't even leave your weapon on their screen. Knifing thin air grants a kill, knifing from 10 feet away grants a kill, knife going to their skull does not grant a kill. Sniping is too easy, way too easy; snipers can shoot as fast as mk14 with zero recoil and 1 hit kills, scoping is instant and has zero sway. Throwing knife takes forever and doesn't register 99% of the time. Did I mention hit detection is horrible? Can't shoot through 99% of objects; chain link fence with a plastic cover is bullet proof, sheet metal as thin as paper is bullet proof. A perk is immune to CUAV, thermal scope, Advanced UAV. Juggernaut dies from one grenade. Killstreaks die too fast; pavelow ("heavily armored") gets shot down before it can shoot one bullet. Last stand is still in the game; deathstreaks are in the game. Elite fails at launch; trying to cut costs with minimal servers was a bad idea. Leaderboards full of boosters and hackers (more played time than the game has even been out). Too casual and noob friendly. I feel like I'm wearing paper instead of kevlar with the 1 to 2 bullet deaths. Players blend into the environment too well. The spawn system is broken; players spawning out of the blue not next to a friendly player, but behind enemies. Campers and noobs are rewarded too much. The SMGs all suck, no bullet penetration making double kills near impossible with them unless pulling host / 4 bars.

Major problem with "head peaking"; On your screen all you see is the tippy top of their hair sticking out, where as they see their entire gun peaking over.

Maps are OK, a few of them too cluttered with unwallable objects. All the rifles look the same. The sound is horrible; m60 sounds like it's shooting plastic, footsteps are barely distinguishable from ambient noise (I'm wearing headphones that hurt my ears from being too loud sometimes).
Oh yes, match making takes forever; lobbies take longer to fill up than the game takes to end; not to mention the 45 second intermission between rounds causes people to leave simply from taking too long. Did I also already mention that bullets don't register half the time?
Last few months of Black Ops was a FAR superior product. Perhaps MW3 simply needs time to patch problems. I still wonder why they request the help of an inexperienced (Sledgehammer) team instead of asking Treyarch who have plenty of experience. Graphics do not bother me, if I wanted good graphics I'd play PC; also 60 FPS with OK graphics is still superior to 30 FPS with great graphics when it comes to shooters. I would consider BF3 at this point but I do not like large maps and vehicles. So I am stuck playing this or nothing at all.

    - too short and ridiculous single campaign
    - multiplayer very similar to previous CoDs
    - it should be rather DLC to MW2 instead MW3 title. For me it's waste of money and my LAST call of duty.

This is the same old COD! There is nothing new, other then few modification and a rubbish story. Why they don't sale these as DLCs (oh! wait it's money I forget). I loved COD 4. This current installment is so obviously developed by designers who have no capacity to understand what makes the COD games so fun - diverse gameplay, excellent physics, climbable/strategic architecture, and multiplayer experience. It feels as though you are playing in an old -style FPS like Marathon or DOOM where you glide around in an environment that is so rudimentary and crude that you quickly bore of the repetitive gameplay.

I warn anyone thinking of buying this game to heed the overwhelmingly bad user reviews of this game and stick to Treyarch titles in the COD franchise or, like me, just pick up a copy of BF3 and never look back. Especially now that there are team and squad death-match game modes! Infinitely more entertaining!

We have the giant explosive set pieces that we grew to love in this games predecessors, that used to leave us in awe wanting more, but now we find ourselves bored and weary of this repetitive formula that Activision has churned out. The younger generation will find themselves jumping straight into the multiplayer and turning a blind eye to the campaign for a few months to come, and will most likely be satisfied with screeching at other players for their superior play style and on the other hand, shouting 'noob' at the top of their voice when they've secured the game winning kill.

For the rest of us, however, this is a different story. Where we find ourselves staring at what seems to be just a shameless copy of Modern Warfare 2, whilst complacent Activision and their new counterpart Sledgehammer Games are sleeping in their piles of money, not giving a toss about what the user base wants. I even think Sledgehammer's studio head, Glen Schofield, cry for help was just a stunt to get its loyal fanbase of under 16's to up its metacritic score to help him sleep in his piles of money at night.

However, I can see some good coming from the biggest entertainment launch event of all time. I can see a revolution, where gamers will eventually stand up to the money making machines and say 'Enough is enough', and demand some innovation and ingenuity from the people that are making billions of dollars from their pockets. Maybe we will eventually see 'reviewers' actually giving a game an honest view based on the pioneering qualities of a game, rather than what the fan base, and studios, want to hear. Maybe we will see studios realising that using the same recycled code and graphics with the same linear storyline over and over, isn't productive (I mean, what else can they be doing with their time?) and needs to stop.

Halo isnt the best game nor B.Ops, but the way Bungie & Treyarch listen to their fans is amazingly satisfying. Unlike i.Ward is always focused on their own opinions and making $$$. After a disappointment in world at war I bought modern warfare 2 in high hopes that it would be a worthy sequel, which it kind of was...it added many features tightened the multiplayer and continued the story. I was willing to overlook the fact that it was ALMOST the same game, they were coming dangerously close to over saturating the series. Inevitably this happened a year later with black ops which was pretty much a clone of all that had been done before. After all this nonsense we hoped for a glimmer, modern warfare 3...a game which we all hoped would live up to the legacy. Unfortunately all modern warfare 3 really is is and exact replica of all that made up modern warfare 1 and 2. Nothing truly original was added to the experience. Activision has gotten all kinds of greedy. Forcing out games yearly at a full retail price knowing full well they are selling an unworthy product...not taking into account whether or not the consumer is getting what they paid for. The fact that the fans will buy it is apparently enough to justify tossing together some explosions and new maps and putting a new number on the end. All I ask is why? I am not a fan boy of one gaming device or the other, or one gaming series or another, just someone who doesn't understand why this is not only acceptable to you fans, but you will actually defend the games quality. Nothing is truly different about this game then the other major call of duty releases every year since 2007, nothing was stopping them from releasing small packages, more maps, more modes...nothing. Instead they put together not an inferior product, but a slap in the face. All of this has been done before. I've bought this before. You've bought this before. Before you think of buying this garbage and support these publishers who think it's ok to take advantage of loyal fans...think of what you could do to force them to make a modern warfare game that truly lives up to the standards of todays games. Was this much of a review? Not so much...not a rant either. I just want people to realize that the graphics are outdated, story still generic, game play rough, sound poor, and multiplayer virtually unchanged not because they can't but because they wont. Take a stand. Play your last call of duty if you have to a little longer until they see they can't treat people like dirt anymore. The Modern Warfare games were once innovative and interesting, but this is simply a copy and paste of Modern Warfare 2, with absolutely no saving grace. The story is predictable, the graphics are unchanged, the gameplay is identical, and the story is boring. Unless something is done, this game could be one of the final nails in the first person shooter genre.

And from a financial stand-point, this is wise for the designers, because it will be harder to get a kill, thus harder to level up, and so you play longer. The only big thing I notice different in CoD is Assassin Pro which in my honest opinion shouldn't be in this game at all its overused and abused to encourage camping, Don't even think about jumping my case about that you all know it's the truth and I would rather have no perks and killstreaks just the standard UAV, Art strike and Heli like CoD 4. You want to know what ruined this franchise it's those KS and Virgin Halo cast offs that only care about a K/D, that's what made this game garbage a new incoming fan base that a company is making a glutton for spoiled gamer syndrome. All in All I wish I had just rented this game and purchased BF3 or even Brink and even more upset I turned in GoW3 for this garbage of a game. Expand

Never have i been so disappointed in a gaming series. I own both battlefield 3 and modern warfare 3 and im playing on a 3d 55 inch samsung. The only thing you brought to the table was a better spec ops mode. and you needed Sledgehammer Games, to basically copy and paste MW2 to MW3. The only thing you did was change the sounds of the guns and give us a more retarded red dot sight AGAIN (OHNever have i been so disappointed in a gaming series. The graphics are exactly the same. Even shooting most of the guns is just a big sloppy mess. Atleast this game was finished before they released it. thats why i give it a 1 instead of a 0. Expand

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
