Best COD campaign yet. Polished graphics. Awesome weapons. Amazing COOP. Smooth gameplay. No complaints here. I am a long time Call of Duty fan, ever since the first one came out on PC. And do you know why I didn't say better? It's because not one game is any better then the other. BF3 and MW3 honestly can't be compared to each other because they are COMPLETELY different genres of the FPS. Now I have played both games and I do prefer MW3 over BF3. Now I'm not going to get into details on why because I could talk all day about that. Why I really came here was because of how sickened and off-put I was by the disrespect and ignorance that is being presented here. The fanatacism in the video game industry now is quite pathetic. This idea that you can only enjoy and support either Battlefield or COD is beyond absurd. You literally couldn't compare two more distinctly opposite games, with the only similarity being that you shoot various types of weaponry. One does it's best to emulate a more strategic, team-based, open battlefield design, while the other is clearly meant to be a frantic, tight-quartered dose of chaos and over-the-top action. For me, I enjoy them both BECAUSE of their specific differences.

    As for the game..............

Well, having not played any of the COD games since MW2 (which was pretty awesome), I can say that I didn't have any hopes or expectations on this game. Since MW2 I had spent more of my limited gaming time enjoying the Battlefield series and had recently decided to give this a spin. Well worth it. Pure fun, pure entertainment. There really isn't much negative I could say about it. It's a nice change of pace from Battlefield, and was an immediate wake-up call to me that I needed to change my FPS skills accordingly.

If you're expecting something mind-blowing or revolutionary, you're simply not thinking straight and don't really have the ability to comment on the gaming industry. If you're somebody who enjoys the adrenaline of fast paced, over-the-top action and enjoy constant unlocks, a plethora of game modes and maps.......then you should love this game.

    Rating: 8.5/10 (rounded to 9)

    FYI, Battlefield 3 rating: 8/10

Enjoy them both..............they're both incredible multiplayer games that should hold your attention for months, if not years.

To the people who say: its simply a MW2 expansion. What were you expecting?! To travel suddenly back into another era? I honestly cant think of how they could have made it better! It's meant to be a intense, fast-paced, FPS; not a battle simulation. Modern Warfare 3's singleplayer campaign hits many of the same highs and lows as its predecessors. Amazing setpieces serve as backdrops for giant firefights yet again. This is no understatement. Few games retain the crazy roller coaster pace that this does level after level, with brief moments to breathe set between the next eruption of gunplay. You're always given different situations that mix-up the gameplay just enough to keep things interesting. The game presents a formidable challenge, as always, on the Hardened and Veteran settings â

This package has no deathstreaks so making a comeback will be especially difficult. There are 2 new modes in the game that are really cool. Kill Confirmed is basically Team Deathmatch but you have to pick up these dogtags to confirm the kills. You can also pick up your own dog tag and deny the other teams kills. Team Defender is a fun twist on Capture the Flag. In Team defender the objective is to play keep away with the flag. The longer you have it the more points you get. Yes, most of the core mechanics remain the same, but underneath the illusion of it being just another CoD game lies a fantastic shooter. The campaign is probably the best Call of Duty campaign yet, with a gripping story, great levels and a ton of explosions to keep you occpupied all the way until the ending. Yes, it may be pretty linear, but I think that the best way to enjoy CoD campaigns is by thinking of it as an interactive movie, then you'll enjoy it best. Besides, it's a more than refreshing change from Black Ops' extremely dull campaign.

The multiplayer has experienced quite a few changes that improve it, such as reintroducing Deathstreaks and adding Strike Packages. While the multiplayer remains largely the same addictive action that we're all used to, Battlefield 3's is still a lot better.

Spec-Ops, on the other hand, brings us something more or less fresh: Survival Mode. While it follows the same basic principle as Zombies does (fight waves of attacking enemies that increasingly grow in size and power with a buddy), Survival Mode surprisingly emerges as the stronger component out of the two. Personally I hated Zombies; it got so repetitive struggling to kill these brainless enemies in a range of dull maps, only ever getting to something like Level 12 on my own. Survival Mode, however, can be as accessible as you like, as you instead fight off soldiers rather than the undead. Survival Mode is a deeper, more balanced experience.

Modern Warfare 3 doesn't change many of its core game mechanics, and its' multiplayer is not as good as Battlefield 3's, but as a shooter PACKAGE, this is one of the best.

That's because Modern Warfare 3 is a good game. While it's definetely no revolution and is pretty much the same game as MW2, 3 distinguishes itself by rising above the beligirent nonsense that was started with Black Ops my least favorite Call of Duty. Modern Warfare 3 is a triumph in this matter, as it smartly chooses to go back to MW2's multiplayer system, one that feels still fun and enjoyable. What however, is the greatest part of this game? It's just pure fun. Whether your playing the great new survival mode that's clocking in my time or the multiplayer, which is the absolute best its ever been, there's so much to keep you interested in Modern Warfare 3 it would be blasphemy to say different. The multiplayer, the crowning achievement of MW3 is exactly what it set out to be, tweaked awesomeness, changing how unlocking guns work with new "gun ranks", and new playlists like "Kill Confirmed" help keep variety flowing in the game's veins. The single player campaign is actually quite good, while very short, the game still offers up the same hollywood style set pieces and epicness the series has been known for, and offers an ending that wraps up almost everything. Spec Ops however is my favorite thing about MW3. The new survival mode is amazing fun and addictive. The only huge problems are the lack of new graphical content which is enraging many players and should. The game is still running on the CoD4 engine, one that has met its age, and shows it. The only other problems I have are with the story, and I won't spoil any of those, so in the end, Modern Warfare 3 is no revolution, but its a damn fun game, and I don't think I need to say why. 8/10

Much better than I expected. The Multi-Player is top-notch and so is the new Survival Mode. Spec. Ops is back with a lot of improvements, haven't played enough of it to know what they are though. Sadly, I completed the Single-Player Campaign in 4 hours (on Recruit. Sad, I know.... XD). Even in MW2 the Single-Player Campaign was 8-12 hours on Recruit!!!! That's a big disappointment!

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 Part 3. No innovation, nothing new. Battlefield 3 FTW. Completely random chaotic maps. No strategy needed. Point run shoot. Oh and rewarding players with death streaks? 60 for a game. 50 for elite.... 50 dollars for "exclusive DLC" that has already been made from reused building models and set on a release timetable. And don't even get me started on graphics, graphics don't make a game GOOD. they also don't make a game BAD. They make a game LOOK good/bad, they don't cause the overall game to become exceptional. Look back at those 8-bit games, those were pretty fun, and are still fun. Look at pac-man, not very good graphics, quite linear but very fun and addicting. The Modern Warfare engine has been working fine previously, so for them to change not only will it cause unexpected glitches, and problems(suddenly changing things never ends well...need I remind you the javelin glitch, and care pack glitches in Modern Warfare 2?) The only problems I have with this game so far(playing over 100 games I think I can give an accurate review) would have to be spawn points, theatre mode, sniping, shottys, scavenger, the Osprey gunner/Escort drop, advanced UAV. First off the spawn points need some massive fixing. The spawn points are just horrendous. I died by a guy, and spawned into his crosshairs. I also killed a guy only for him to appear behind me. That's just ridiculous. Secondly theatre mode needs tweaking, a lot of tweaking to be exact. Here are some problems I've experienced, and heard of. 1. When you record and open a laptop it records the laptop, not the kill streak used. 2. Clips get cut off if they go on for too long, there was a private game I was doing testing various things and it cut off at 27 minutes. Mind you I was testing a lot of things using the drop zone game type. 3. When you're recording and you pause it at a certain point and begin recording again, when you playback it pauses after when you actually paused it. 4. It would be cool if you could see the scoreboard during theatre mode like in Black ops, it's useful when you want to do commentaries and show your score. And lastly letting us see 1st person from other peoples perspective would be nice, instead of seeing them in 3rd person. Just to see how they saw their demise. Now sniping needs to be de-buffed. In mw2 I wasn't that good in sniping, I'd go positive but I'd miss a couple times at times. In mw3 I just hit anywhere and it's instant death for that person, way to easy, and overpowered. I don't even always have to hit them, it could just skim them and they die. Now for shottys, they are really, really underpowered now. They hardly kill at close range I need to be like inches away from someone to kill them with a shotty now. I'm not saying let us kill them from across the map like the spas did in mw2. Just don't make us have to be close that we can count the hairs on his face. For Scavenger let us pick up equipment from dead enemies, even if it has to be scavenger pro, let us do it. Just picking up ammo, and having more mags is kind of useless. Equipment is needed, if we have multiple flank routes we need two claymores to cover ourselves. Have it like mw2 where you can only have two claymores set up. Don't let use resupply under barrels, just equipment. Now for the osprey gunner/Escort drop, I'm going to talk about these together since they are the same kind of killstreak basically. First Osprey gunner, for such a high amount of kills needed can you allow it deploy flares, or make it less impossible to spot? Allow it to move around, or be user controlled, make it less huge, etc. For the escort drop, don't let it be shot down make it liek the emergency airdrop in mw2 where it can't be destroyed. and make it take less time to come down and drop the packages, it shouldn't take so long that the game ends before it lands. And lastly the Advanced UAV, don't let people be undetected by it(it kind of ruins the point of using it) also don't let be able to be shot down or destroyed. For the amount of kills it needs, it should stay up it's whole duration without any complications. Other than that I'm pretty much fine with this game, and I know you can release updates to address these problems, even if it has to be gradual keep releasing updates it would be worth your while trust me. If you fix the problems a majority of the community has with this game they might respond more positively towards it and not criticize it as harshly. The problem is you hardly fully listen to the community and that's what causes each game to have a lot of the community become haters and just sit waiting for the newest COD game only to be let down again, and again. Addressing the issues people have will make that 3.1 user score become higher, towards maybe an 8.0 if not more. Also make game longer/require more kills, or at least have a different game type where games last for longer times for those who like long games. like needing 10,000 score for team deathmatch instead of only needing 7500. or you need to confirm 100 kills instead of 65 in kill confirmed. Highly polished version of MW2. But so what?! MW2 was superior to Black Ops in the game play department, so MW3 (2.5) is also better than Blops.
I'm not keen on the maps, but DLC could remedy that.
I also don't like the shotguns being so weak. With the nerfing of shotties, they should have stayed as secondaries. The addition of Kill Confirmed is the best thing they did. It's fast and

This is a fantastic game that picks up right where the 2nd one left off. Multiplayer is tweeked with cool new killstreaks and it is super fun. On top of all of that, spec ops is much improved and rocks. All these people hating just don't understand how great an overall game this really is.

This game is very similar to MW2. That is not a bad thing. I played over 18 days of MW2's multiplayer and MW3 is the same with the annoying tatcis like overpowered noob tubes and OMA. Commando is gone but I have seen some Bs knife kills. I'm still upset that Call of Duty isn't running on Dedicated Servers. I'm tired of crappy hosts but the game is a must buy.

I honestly don't know why this game is scoring so low with other user reviews. This game is a sequel, as such it's going to build upon what the games before it had already laid down. It's not going to be a distinctly different game, and it shouldn't. If it was going to have completely different core mechanics and gameplay, then it wouldn't be a Call of Duty, it would be a new IP. On multiplayer, the tweaks such as Strike Packages, new perks & guns, weapon leveling, and new modes (Team Defender/Kill Confirmed) all do good to expand on the prior entries in the series for an overall good multiplayer. The campaign is much the same as the rest in the series, and anyone who thinks the campaigns in any Battlefield/Call of Duty game are a focus point doesn't really get why the game was made in the first place. It's a compliment to the game, but wouldn't hold on its own without multiplayer. Survival in Spec Ops is a great idea, but its biggest downfall is not allowing 4 players like the Zombies modes on the other Call of Duty's. These modes are best when a group of people get to coordinate to play....not just two people. Lastly, Elite seems like a good idea, but as of this writing, been plagued by server issues so it's hard to say how or what that will bring to the series. Overall, a fairly good entry in the series. This game is an incredible addition to the series, and I don't understand half of all the hate this game is receiving. People complain about how the game appears to be a "MW2 map pack" or a refurbished version of that game, but this rings true for many sequels and MW3 shouldn't be the only game chastised for this. People complain about how the game appears to be a "MW2 map pack" or a refurbished version of that game, but this rings true for many sequels and MW3 shouldn't be the only game chastised for this. A few recent titles that come to mind are Gears of War 3, Battlefield 3, and Uncharted 3, all of which were great games in their own right, but brought very few innovations to the single player / multi player experience where as MW3 has brought a myriad of new ideas to the multi player experience.

If you consider the addition of the strike packages to the kill streak system, not to mention the new kill steaks themselves brings a new dynamic challenge to the multi player experience. The support package allows for more tactical and team based game play, a fix to a common complain that the call of duty series was simply an "arcade run and gun shooter". New multi player game modes such as kill confirmed also support the new team based play styles the franchise is supporting. Horde mode has been introducted to the series, and while it lacks the 4 player experience other titles have had, it is a good first attempt for the series. A big problem is that many people consider the treyarch and infinity ward / sledgehammer games versions of Call of duty to be synonymous, where as veterans of the series can attest that this is not the case. The new additions to MW3 may have existed in Black Ops, but it is new to this franchise and thus worth noting. Split screen multi player is another new addition that makes LAN parties with your friends a much easier experience. While the wager matches have been moved to strictly private match and LAN parties, they have added new modes such as Juggernaught which adds a new dynamic to this experience as well. Last but not least the returning mode of Spec Ops has been revamped and improved upon. The campaign provides the same sort of evocative and emotional storytelling and game play that many modern shooters lack and skip over, and provides an adequate conclusion to the epic story that began back in 2007. Overall Modern Warfare 3 is a superb shooter overall, and provides more innovations to the experience than the last Call of Duty installation Black Ops. This game does not deserve all the hatred it receives, and this reader suspects it is perpetrated mostly by internet trolls and active members of the Battlefield 3 community. As a final note I will leave you with this, if you don't like sequels being similar to their successful predecessors don't buy them; Modern Warfare 2 was an amazing game that broke sales records both within and outside the gaming industry, and as such the plan of improving upon an already successful game by keeping its roots and adding new innovations make sense to me.

This game not only offers a great single player experience but also now the game offers a newly revamped spec ops mode, allowing players to further expand their solo experiance in a range of tactically challenging missions or complete the tasks with a friend in co op, not only can a player complete missions this time around but also compete in a mode fairly similar to horde or a more combative zombies in the mode called survival, as you progress through the waves of continously stronger enemies fighting to survive with the limited munitions you gain from the beginning and with a skilled player can turn the fight against the hard opposition with the use of killstreaks, perks and other equipment. And finally to the prestigious online mode which is already one of the best in the market now is better, with a feel of both modern warfare 1 and 2, 3 offers a player now a larger range of gameplay through the use of the newly formed strike packages giving players the ability to use a range of different kill streaks that will help their type of player. This game also offers an huge amount of challenges giving the player a big sense of achievement when his/her screen displays the players achievements and gains titles and emblems to show offer furthermore the bigger range of camo's that can be earned also giving the player more bragging rights. simply a great conclusion to a great franchise!

People cry about the graphics, why not assist them in making a new engine? It usually takes years of development. The main problem is with the multiplayer match making, it sucks and it is too difficult to find 'free for all' or capture the flag' matches. Playing the online is OK, the new Kill confirmed has helped me a lot to defeat the campers, they don't score if they cannot make their team get the medal. If I focus on the story and the add ons, I have to be sincere an put this mark.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
